Design and Implementation of a XML2RDB Middleware for Partition Storing of XML Documents
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 1~16
XML(Extensible Markup Language) is an emerging standard for data representation and exchange in e-commerce and internet-based information. However, to realize this potential, it is necessary to be able to extract structured data from XML documents and store it in a database, as well as to generate XML documents from data extracted from a database. Although many DBMS vendors are scrambling to extend their products to handle XML, there is a need for a lightweight, DBMS and platform-independent XML middleware as well. In this paper we describe such a XML2RDB middleware, that solves the following problems . generating relational schema from XML DTDs for storage of XML documents, importing data from XML documents into relational tables, creating XML documents according to a XMLQL(XML Query Language) from data extracted from a database.
A Development of the ebXML Registry v2.1 Server
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 17~36
ebXML is a global electronic business standard that is sponsored by UN/CEFACT and OASIS. ebXML is an open XML-based infrastructure enabling the global use of electronic business information in an interoperable, secure and consistent manner by all parties. ebXML Registry provides a stable store where the business information submitted by partners is made persistent and a set of registry services that enable clients of the Registry to access them. These services are tied to the structures defined in ebXML Registry Information Model(ebRIM), so we need a way to process them according to underlying database systems. In this paper, we present the result of developing the ebXML Registry Server based on Relational Database Systems.
A Data Dictionary for Procurement of Die and Mold Parts Based on PLIB Standard
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 37~52
ISO 13584 Parts Library (PLIB) standard is making its way into e-business as a norm for classifying products and their characteristics. PLIB is a multi-parts standard, and the Part 42: Methodology for structuring Parts families Provides the information model and design Principles for the data dictionary of parts library or e-catalog. If e-catalog systems are built using a data dictionary that is constructed based on PLIB dictionary data model, many different e-catalog systems can be easily integrated and interoperated. This paper studies the roles and requirements of the data dictionary in e-catalog, and applies the data model and design principles of PLIB Part 42 to construct a data dictionary from the viewpoint of ontology Based on the analysis results, we propose a data dictionary of die and mold parts, and implementat the B2B e-catalog system.

A Threats Statement Generation Method for Security Environment of Protection Profile
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 69~86
A Protection Profile(PP) is a common security and assurance requirements for a specific class of Information Technology security products such as firewall and smart card. A PP should be included "TOE(Target of Evaluation) Security Environment", which is consisted of subsections: assumptions, treat, organizational security policies. This paper presents a new threats statement generation method for developing TOE security environment section of PP. Our survey guides the statement of threats in CC(Common Criteria) scheme through collected and analysed hundred of threat statements from certified and published real PPs and CC Tool Box/PKB that is included a class of pre-defined threat and attack statements. From the result of the survey, we present a new asset classification method and propose a threats statement generation model. The former is a new asset classification method, and the later is a production rule for a well formed statement of threats.
A change Management Model for BPM Documents in e-Business Environments
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 87~105
Business Process Management (BPM) is an emerging trend of managing business process life cycles and integrating heterogeneous systems . Recently, BPM is considered as an essential element for automation of complex business processes involving many companies, particularly for those in an e-Business environment. In such an environment, it is very important for each business partner to trace history of resources. However, it has been a difficult problem for Workflow Management Systems(WFMSs) to support management of resource changes because of limited storage, complex process structure, and absence of formal change model. In this paper. a new framework is proposed, which can support change management for documents, one of core resources of business process. Under a traditional WFMSs framework, all workflow components belong to either build-time or run-time function, and executions of workflow processes are performed by the two functions . To manage changes of documents while process executing. a new framework with additional component modules are required. A version control method is introduced for the purpose of managing document changes. The proposed method includes five models for document structure, process structure, association between process and document, version management, and efficient version storage. A prototype system is developed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed models.
A Study on the Use of RosettaNet for ERP System Connection
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 107~116
XML/EDI provides a way to connect legacy systems(ERPs) : When a XML/EDI system sends a message, the message contents come from the legacy system. Likewise, when a ERP receiving a message, important parts are stored in the legacy system. RosettaNet has become a strong tool to connect ERPs as RosettaNet has become a promising standard for XML/EDI. In this paper, a prototype using PIP 3A4(Order Management) of the RosettaNet is implemented to show how the standard could be used for the connection of ERPs.
Data Quality Management: Operators and a Matching Algorithm with a CRM Example
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 117~130
It is not unusual to observe that there Is a great amount of redundant or inconsistent data even within an e-business system such as CRM(Customer Relationship Management) system. This problem becomes aggravate when we construct a system of which information are gathered from different sources. Data quality management is indeed needed to avoid any possible redundant or inconsistent data in such information system. A data quality process, in general, consists of three phases: data cleaning (scrubbing), matching, and integration phase. In this paper, we introduce and categorize data quality operators for each phase. Then, we describe our distance function used in the matching phase, and present a matching algorithm PRIMAL (a PRactical Matching Algorithm). And finally, we present a related work and future research.
Developing an XML Repository for Workflow Management
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 131~141
For workflow systems using XML documents for saving workflow process definition and especially for XML-based worflow systems, a repository needed to provide control for XML documents. The repository allows uniform access to shared data and facilitates integration among tools in workfolw systems. An XML repository gives the best solution to maintain, exchane, and modify the workflow process definition meta data, which is in the form of XML documents . The XML repository, where users can lookup the worflow definition objects, serves as the metadata foundation of the workflow system. In this paper, we developed for XML Repository(called REPOWO : REPOsitory for Workflow) that can store, delete, search and transform XML documents. REPOWO is implemented by combining EJB components based on RDBMS. By REPOWO, workfolw process definitions, data type definitions and transition informations can be easily manage.

Design and Implementation of Automatic Installation System for PDA
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 165~176
Instead of existing cell phones, PDAs are observed as leading wireless Internet devices recently Numerous applications are developed by extended usage of PDAs and it should be installed appropriately according to devices. Furthermore, when battery is discharged, all data stored in RAM(Random Access Memory) becomes obsolete. So it should be recovered or reinstalled from flash memory, backup media or something. In this paper, we present an automatic application installation system(PAIS : PDA Automatic Installation System) to solve problems that users have to install applications by themselves whenever it is necessary. With this system, users feel comfortable by saving time and effort to install each applications and application development companies save cost needed to make materials illustrating installation process. Consequently PAIS may flourish wireless Internet business.

In a traditional customer support environment, mainly call centers or service centers are responsible for receiving inquiries from their customers via telephone calls. Due to the rapid growth of Internet with its widespread acceptance and accessibility, means of communication with customers in the traditional customer support center, such as telephones, letters, and direct-visiting, have been replaced by e-mails and bulletin board systems (BBSs) using the Internet constantly. BBSs are basically question and answer systems, they require some lead time to get answer from administrator. To reduce lead time, BBSs enable remote customers or users to log on and tap into a knowledge database that is generally formatted in the form of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) that provide answers and solutions to the common problems. And, many different types of the questions are mixed on the BBS. It is a burden to administrator. To build FAQs and to support BBS adminstrator, a supporting tool which is to categorize questions is helpful. In this research, we suggest an interactive question categorizing methodology which consists of steps to present question using keywords, identifying keywords' affinity, computing similarity among questions, and clustering questions. This methodology allows users to interact iteratively for clear manifestation of ambiguous questions. We also developed a prototype system, IQC (interactive question categorizer) and evaluated its performance using the comparison experiments with other systems. IQC is not a general purposed system, but it produces a good result in a given specific domain.

Based on this framework, ebXML business transactions are executed by exchanging appropriate business documents as specified in Business Process Specification. And required business documents are generated by assembling Core Components at the Business Process design time. In this paper, we present technical architecture of ebXML framework and Core Component technology, and then explain design and implementation issues of ebXML business document generation tool.
A Classification Model of Electronic Commerce Technology
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 219~239
The world of business is being profoundly transformed by the Internet and electronic commerce. E-commerce is driven by Internet and e-commerce technology. That is, the new e-commerce is commonly associated with highly developed technical elements, ranging from web , graphic design. payment systems and network infrastructure. Thus, it is necessary to decide which technologies are important and how they are related to each other. To anticipate the future of each information communication technology and electronic commerce accurately , we have attempted to develop a classification model of electronic commerce technology. A classification model for EC technologies consists of three categories: basic technology, base technology, and application technology. This model can play a role as a guideline in classifying EC technologies into three hierarchical category and in comparing the relative relationships of each electronic commerce technology. It will also provide an impetus for the study of electronic commerce technologies and for the shaping process of electronic commerce generally.
XML Key Information Service Modeling for Secure Electronic Commerce
The Journal of Society for e-Business Studies, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 241~257
XML is a global standard for the Internet and e-business, and its use is growing in proportion to the spreading speed of e-Commerce. Thus, a policy for providing more safe security service for exchanging e-documents within e-Commerce is necessary. XKMS, one of XML security specification, defines the protocol for distributing and registering public keys for verifying electronic signatures and enciphering e-documents of e-Commerce applications with various and complicate functions. In this paper, we propose X-KISS service reference model and implement service component based on standard specification. Also describes the analysis and security of XML key information service for safe e-Commerce, paying attention to the features of XML based security service. This reference model supported include public key location by given identifier information, the binding of such keys to identifier information. The client service component controls the number of locate threads and validate threads to analyze the minimum requirements of real-time key retrievals. This service modeling offers the security construction guideline for future domestic e-business frameworks
