The first part of this thesis discusses the types and the properties of errors, one of which makes up systematic errors of measurements, removable by detecting their causes, the other errors of accidental causes which can not be removed. The final part of this thesis deals with the historical background of the Gaussian distribution by Hershel, Hagen, Laplace and Gauss from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It can be concluded that the accidental idea and the treatment of accidental error distribution by Gauss Is the best one based on the assumption that the most probable value of true value is the arithmetic mean of data, obtained by repeated measurements of a given quantity.

Lee, Sang-Hyuk(1810-\ulcorner) explained application problems which can be represented as the equation of degree 1 or 2 in the chapter of 'Myun-Lyu' of his book 'Cha-Geun-Bang-Mong-Gu.' Mainly he dealt with the various questions which looks for the length of right triangle and square. After they are expressed in the equation, all of them has terms on both side of equality sign and they have solution as integer. The explanation of each question describes the procedure to make the equation in detail, but only presents the solution with few step to solve.

We first investigate how the abstract algebra has emerged as a common generalization of arithmetic and algebra of logic, which was finalized by A. N. This paper is a sequel to . Development of modern logic was initiated by Boole and Morgan. Boolean logic is one of their completed works. Cantor created the set theory along with cardinal and ordinal numbers. His theory on infinite sets brought about a remarkable development on modern mathematical theory, but generated many paradoxes (e.g. Russell Paradox) that in turn motivated mathematicians to solve them. Further, mathematicians attempted to construct sound foundations for Mathematics. As a result three important schools of thought were formed in relation to fundamentals of mathematics for the resolution of paradoxes of set theory, namely logicism developed by Russell and Whitehead, intuitionism lead by Brouwer and formalism contended by Hilbert and Bernays. In this paper, we examine the logic for intuitionism which is originated by Brouwer in 1908 and study Heyting algebra.

We survey the researches on self-reproducing structures on cellular automata. Self-reproduction is the foremost characteristic of life, and cellular automata are ideal model for studying artificial life. From the early studies by Von Neumann to late results on computational models using self-reproducing structures and emergence of self-replication are covered. Also possible applications of self-replicating structures are listed.
