DOI : 10.4275/KSLIS.2006.40.3.035
Prior to the 1980's, reappraisal and deaccessioning were considered as an 'anti-archival' activity. Recently. however, many archivists have come to realize that a reappraisal and deaccessioning is essential to providing better access to more important records and to strengthen and refine holdings. To develop a program with strong and well-focused holding appropriate to the Purpose and environments of archives. archives have to carry out systematic and continuing Procedure to reevaluate past appraisal. This study explores the various main issues and opinions with regard to reappraisal and deaccessioning and then. suggests the reappraisal principles and deaccessioning procedures such as return of the materials to donor. transfer to more appropriate depository, destruction of the material.

Journal of the Korean Society for Library and Information Science, volume 40, issue 3, 2006, Pages 175~190
DOI : 10.4275/KSLIS.2006.40.3.175
For the recent several years, there has been much interest in lexical semantic network However it seems to be very difficult to evaluate the effectiveness and correctness of it and invent the methods for applying it into various problem domains. In order to offer the fundamental ideas about how to evaluate and utilize lexical semantic networks, we developed two automatic vol·d clustering systems, which are called system A and system B respectively. 68.455.856 words were used to learn both systems. We compared the clustering results of system A to those of system B which is extended by the lexical-semantic network. The system B is extended by reconstructing the feature vectors which are used the elements of the lexical-semantic network of 3.656 '-ha' verbs. The target data is the 'multilingual Word Net-CoroNet'. When we compared the accuracy of the system A and system B, we found that system B showed the accuracy of 46.6% which is better than that of system A. 45.3%

Lee Jae-Yun ;
Journal of the Korean Society for Library and Information Science, volume 40, issue 3, 2006, Pages 191~214
DOI : 10.4275/KSLIS.2006.40.3.191
Recently, some bibliometric researchers tried to use the centrality analysis methods and the centrality measures which are standard tools in social network analysis. However the traditional centrality measures originated from social network analysis could not deal with weighted networks such as co-citation networks. In this study. new centrality measures for analyzing bibliometric networks with link weights are suggested and applied to three real network data, including an author co-citation network, a co-word network, and a website co-link network. The results of centrality analyses in these three cases can be regarded as Promising the usefulness of suggested centrality measures, especially in analyzing the Position and influence of each node in a bibliometric network.

A Study of Digitalization Performance of Sinological Resource in Korea
Cho Hyung-Jin ;
Journal of the Korean Society for Library and Information Science, volume 40, issue 3, 2006, Pages 391~413
DOI : 10.4275/KSLIS.2006.40.3.391
This study analyzed the procedures and contents of digitalization of sinological resources owned by major sinological resource institutes in Korea. It investigated the united organizations that use such sinological resources It also assessed governmental policies and future Plans for digitalization of sinological resources. Finally, it proposed steps and conditions necessary for successful digitalization of sinological resources. (1) The level of digitalization of library management, searching, and usage system of national library, university library, and research library that has been applied since 1980s has already been highly advanced. The amount of sinological resources collected is significant and its substance value is very high. The digitalized resources are already distributed on internet partially. However, the level of digitalization of sinological resources still lacks some aspects and requires further effort. (2) The data base for digitalized sinological resources already available can be grouped into bibliographic information, contents and annotation, and full text. and it includes both domestic and foreign resources. The quantities of resources are as described in the body (3) The types of digital sinological resources include antient books. archives, micro, and book blocks. (4) The encoding DB methods of digital sinological resources include text. image, PDF. and etc. (5) The united organizations of sinological resources enable us to avoid duplicated investigation and enhance service efficiency. Here are some factors to consider in order to accomplish ideal digitalization of sinological resources. (1) First of all, it is necessary to organize a control center for digitalization procedures of old materials, and allow it a certain degree of authority to develop and Proceed a comprehensive Plan. (2) Both short- and long-term plans need to be developed in order to analyze various aspects of digitalization process. and their steps need to be taken gradually (3) It is necessary to train experts for old materials and let them construct and manage DB.
