저품위 동광석의 세균침출에 관한 연구 2
The Korean Journal of Microbiology, volume 10, issue 1, 1972, Pages 1~8
This experiment was carried out to investigate the physiological characteristics of isolated bacteria, Ferrobacillus ferooxidans from copper mine water in Korea. The results obtained were as follows ; 1. The optimum pH range for the growth of these bacteria was 2.0-3.0 and optimum temperature was
. 2. The oxidation curves of ferrous iron to the ferric iron ran parallel with the growth curves. 3. The optimum nitrogen concentration was 400-800 ppm and the minimal flow rate of air for the maximal growth of the bactria was 70 ml air/min./200ml medium. 4. The growth of these bacteria was inhibited by the absence of ferrous iron and by the addition of sulfur. 5. Ferrous iron at a concentration of 9000 ppm, appeared to be optimum for the most rapid growth of Ferrobacillus ferrooxidans.
팔프 및 제지공장 폐수의 처리에 관한 미생물학적 연구 1
The Korean Journal of Microbiology, volume 10, issue 1, 1972, Pages 9~28
1. To get the suitable yeasts for the tratment of waste liquor from pulp and paper industries, the 162 yeasts were isolated from the waste liquor, decayed trees and sewage (1, 7, 8, 9, 1971). 17 species were chosen by its ability to assimilate the carbon compounds and indentified. 2. All of the strain was increased its growing ability by agitation. In particular, the strain 912, strain 613, strain 100, strain 732 showed excellent high productive ratio(A/
). 3. The optimum temperature of the strains rangel
. 4. Most of the strain was grown actively in 10C/5N-composition and strain 113, strain 432, strain 735, strain 936, and strain 912 showed its optimum growing in 15C/5N-composition and 5C/5N-composition, respectively. 5. The optimum pH of the strains lay within range pH 4.5-6. Effect of the variation of pH on the growth was nearly negligible within this range. 6. The strain 912, strain 100, strain 613, strain 311, strain 235, and strain 732 were expected for the utilization to the treatment of the waste liquor from pulp and paper industries.
Electron microscopic observations of the irradiation of ultra-violet ray on cryptococcus neoformans
The Korean Journal of Microbiology, volume 10, issue 1, 1972, Pages 29~34
The present study is of ultra-fine structure of Cryptococcus neoformans by means of electron microscopy and reveals the following : 1) In constrast to the bacteria, the normal Cryptococcus neofrmans contains nuclear enveloped with nuclear menbrane, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, distinct cell wall and cell membrane, vacuoles and storage granules as observed in the eucaryotic cells. 2) In apparent cell walls and cell membrane with the appearance of electron transparent area (ETA) and changes of cell morphology were observed in the ultra-violet ray irradiated cell. 2) In apparent cell walls and cell membrance with the appreance of electron transparent area (ETA) and changes of cell morphology were observed in the ultra-violet ray irradiated cell. 3) Morphology changes and cytoplasmic element abnormality was increased with irradiated time. 4) Increase of electron transparent area was thought to be associated with degradation of cell.
Methylene blue-catalyzed photodecomposition of guanine
The Korean Journal of Microbiology, volume 10, issue 1, 1972, Pages 35~40
1) The photodecomposition rate of guanine being catalized by methylene blue ws 53.7% in contrast with 9.3% that of dark control for 180 min. 2) In guanine control, the decomposition rate was very low. For 180 min., the rate was 8.1% in illuminated sample and 3.9% in non-illuminated sample. 3) The decomposition rate of methylene blue was obviously interfered by the existence of guanine. In guanine and methylene blue mixture solution, the net decomposition rate, excluding that of dark control ws 39.2% and in dye only solution, it was 48.5%.
Electron microscope study on Agrobacterium tumefaciens in tomato tumor
The Korean Journal of Microbiology, volume 10, issue 1, 1972, Pages 41~50
The tomato plant, Lycopersicon esculentum Mill, was inoculated with tumor inducing strain,
, of Agrobacterium tumefaciens and its produced tumors were examined with the electron microscope. A number of bacteria are usually detected in the intercellular region of the host plant, and it is observed that the host cytoplasm is readily destroyed in the region where the bacterial invasion occurred. Some of the bacteria in the host tissues are enclosed with the single unit membranes, in other locations lots of bacteroids were examined and the bacterial lysis is generally observed in those bacteroids. The bacterial movement in the tumor tissue and some peculiar relationships between the pathogens and the host plant are discussed.
