A Path Storing and Number Matching Method for Management of XML Documents using RDBMS

Since W3C proposed XML in 1996, XML documents have been widely spreaded in many internet documents. Because of this, needs for research related with XML is increasing. Especially, it is being well performed to study XML management system for storage, retrieval, and management with XML Documents. Among these studies, XRel is a representative study for XML management and has been become a comparative study. In this study, we suggest XML documents management system based on Relational DataBase Management System. This system is stored not all possible path expressions such as XRel, but filtered path expression which has text value or attribute value. And by giving each node Node Expression Identifier, we try to match given Node Expression Identifier. Finally, to prove efficiency of the suggested technique, this paper shows the result of experiment that compares XPath query processing performance between suggested study and existing technique, XRel.
Content-Based Genre Classification Using Climax Extraction in Music

The existing a music genre classification research used signal feature of the part which gets 20 seconds interval of the random or the
after in the music. This paper propose it to increase the accuracy of existing research to classify music genre using climax part in the music. Generally the music is divided to three parts; introduction, progress and climax. And the climax is the part which the music emphasizes and expresses the feature of the music best. So, we can get efficient result if the climax is used, when the music classify. We can get the climax in the music finding the tempo and node which uses FFT and the maximum waveform from each node. In this paper, we did a genre classification experiment which uses existing research method and proposing method. The existing method expressed 47% accuracy. And proposing method expressed 56% accuracy which is improved than existing method.
An Algorithm for Color Object Tracking

Conventional color-based object tracking using Mean Shift algorithm does not provide appropriate result when initial color distribution disappears. In this paper we propose a tracking algorithm that updates the object color sample when the color is changing. Mean Shift analysis is first used to derive the object candidate with maximum increase in density direction from current position. The color information of object is updated iteratively. The proposed algorithm achieves accurate tracking of objects when initial color samples are changed and finally disappeared. The validity of the effective approach is illustrated by the experimental results.
Implementation of a Modified Cubic Convolution Scaler for Low Computational Complexity

In this paper, we propose a modified cubic convolution scaler for the enlargement or reduction of digital images. The proposed method has less computational complexity than the cubic convolution method. In order to reduce the computational complexity, we use the linear function of the cubic convolution and the difference value of adjacent pixels for selecting interpolation methods. We employ adders and barrel shifts to calculate weights of the proposed method. The proposed method is compared with the conventional one for the computational complexity and the image quality. It has been designed and verified by HDL(Hardware Description Language), and synthesized using Xilinx Virtex FPGA.
3D Quantitative Analysis of Cell Nuclei Based on Digital Image Cytometry

Significant feature extraction in cancer cell image analysis is an important process for grading cell carcinoma. In this study, we propose a method for 3D quantitative analysis of cell nuclei based upon digital image cytometry. First, we acquired volumetric renal cell carcinoma data for each grade using confocal laser scanning microscopy and segmented cell nuclei employing color features based upon a supervised teaming scheme. For 3D visualization, we used a contour-based method for surface rendering and a 3D texture mapping method for volume rendering. We then defined and extracted the 3D morphological features of cell nuclei. To evaluate what quantitative features of 3D analysis could contribute to diagnostic information, we analyzed the statistical significance of the extracted 3D features in each grade using an analysis of variance (ANOVA). Finally, we compared the 2D with the 3D features of cell nuclei and analyzed the correlations between them. We found statistically significant correlations between nuclear grade and 3D morphological features. The proposed method has potential for use as fundamental research in developing a new nuclear grading system for accurate diagnosis and prediction of prognosis.
Block Classification of Document Images by Block Attributes and Texture Features

We propose an effective method for block classification in a document image. The gray level document image is converted to the binary image for a block segmentation. This binary image would be smoothed to find the locations and sizes of each block. And especially during this smoothing, the inner block heights of each block are obtained. The gray level image is divided to several blocks by these location informations. The SGLDM(spatial gray level dependence matrices) are made using the each gray-level document block and the seven second-order statistical texture features are extracted from the (0,1) direction's SGLDM which include the document attributes. Document image blocks are classified to two groups, text and non-text group, by the inner block height of the block at the nearest neighbor rule. The seven texture features(that were extracted from the SGLDM) are used for the five detail categories of small font, large font, table, graphic and photo blocks. These document blocks are available not only for structure analysis of document recognition but also the various applied area.
A Study on Storing and Removing Method of Broadcasting Content for Personalized Consumption

In this paper, storing and removing method of broadcasting content is proposed for personalized consumption. The main objective of this paper is to keep personalized information, such as additional contents, user creation data, usage history, with broadcasting content, and user can consume broadcasting content to accommodate individual preference. Consequently, proposed file format in this paper is based on MPEG-4 and MPEG-21 file format because they can access and extract data within file format easily and can keep spatiotemporal relation between data. In addition, TV-Anytime metadata is used for program description metadata. Finally, proposed method is verified with file format player and useful application scenarios.
Mechanism for Managing Fault-Tolerant Embedded Real-Time Tasks

In this paper, we propose a mechanism for both scheduling the hybrid-task set which consists of periodic and aperiodic tasks and recovering tasks with transient faults on the level of the operating system. Existing embedded operating systems would not provide the scheduling of both periodic and aperiodic tasks. Also because of not supporting the recovery of task failures, they can not prevent system failure from transient task faults. Proposed method, on the level of operating system, is able to not only meet the deadlines of all periodic tasks but also complete the execution of aperiodic tasks. In addition, it is able to prevent the system failure from transient task faults by recovering the task faults.
A Fair Queuing Algorithm to Reduce Energy Consumption in Wireless Channels

Since real-time multimedia applications requiring duality-of-service guarantees are spreading over mobile and wireless networks, energy efficiency in wireless channels is becoming more important. Energy consumption in the channels can be reduced with decreasing the rate of scheduler's outgoing link by means of Dynamic Modulation Scaling (DMS). This paper proposes a fair queuing algorithm, termed Rate Efficient Fair Queuing (REFQ), in order to reduce the outgoing link's rate, which is based on the Latency-Optimized Fair Queuing algorithm developed to enhance Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ). The performance evaluation result shows that REFQ does decrease the link rate by up to 35% in comparison with that in WFQ, which results in reducing the energy consumption by up to 90% when applied to the DMS based radio modem.
An Improved High-Performance Protocol for Security Vulnerability of GSM based on SIM Card

GSM platform is a hugely successful wireless technology and an unprecedented story of global achievement. In less than ten years since the first GSM network was commercially launched, it became the world's leading and fastest growing mobile standard, using over 1 billion GSM subscribers across more than 200 countries of the world. GSM platform evolved into 3th generation mobile communication which includes not only voice call services but also the international roaming and various kinds of the multimedia services. GSM is an essential element techniques a safe data transmission and a personal private protection while support services. However, a crypto algorithm and a secure protocol for a safe data communication using GSM are indicating various kinds of problems. In this paper, we propose a more safer and more efficient authentication protocol in 3th generation network through analysis of GSM security mechanism of 2th/2.5th generation. This security protocol offers enforced security efficiency by using user verification between SIM/ME and reduction of authentication and key agreement step between SIM/ME/AuC.
Design and Implementation of Genetic Test-Sheet-Generating Algorithm Considering Uniformity of Difficulty

Evaluation of distance teaming systems needs a method that maintains a consistent level of difficulty for each test. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for test sheet generation based on genetic algorithm. Unlike the existing methods that difficulty of each test item is assigned by tutors, in the proposed method, that can be adjusted by the result of the previous tests and the average difficulty of test sheet can be consistently reserved. We propose the new genetic operators to prevent duplications of test items in a test sheet and apply the adjusted difficulty of each test item. The result of simulation shows that difficulty of the test sheet generated by proposed method can be more regular than the random method and the simulated annealing method.
Performance Enhancement of Marker Detection and Recognition using SVM and LDA

In this paper, we present a method for performance enhancement of the marker detection system by using SVM(Support Vector Machine) and LDA(Linear Discriminant Analysis). It converts the input image to a binary image and extracts contours of objects in the binary image. After that, it approximates the contours to a list of line segments. It finds quadrangle by using geometrical features which are extracted from the approximated line segments. It normalizes the shape of extracted quadrangle into exact squares by using the warping technique and scale transformation. It extracts feature vectors from the square image by using principal component analysis. It then checks if the square image is a marker image or a non-marker image by using a SVM classifier. After that, it computes feature vectors by using LDA for the extracted marker images. And it calculates the distance between feature vector of input marker image and those of standard markers. Finally, it recognizes the marker by using minimum distance method. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves enhancement of recognition rate with smaller feature vectors by using LDA and it can decrease false detection errors by using SVM.
Realtime Fire Simulation and Rendering on Mobile Environment

This paper presents a real-time fire simulation on the mobile phone using stable fluid animation techniques. Stable and fast fluid simulation methods are developed in PC and console games, but fluid simulation and interactive fluid models require too much system resources for applying on mobile environment. We studied and implemented physics-based models for fluids like fire and smoke effects using billboard and stable fluids simulation method on mobile 3D system. The mobile platform of our system is WIPI, which is the standard mobile platform in Korea, also we adopted NF3D API for our 3D programming API. We implemented real-time fire simulation and added it in mobile 3D game, "Rupee Story".
