A New Double-Talk Detection Algorithm

In this paper, we propose a new double talk detection algorithm which detects near end signals with less degradation, tracking echo path variation of echo canceler simultaneously. Our method makes use of a cross-correlation between channel input signals and estimated error signals and a normalized cross-correlation between microphone input signals and estimated error signals. By combing thresholds for these cross-correlations pertinently, this algorithm discriminates between variation of echo path and occurrence of double talk. These two cross-correlation are used to detect double talk periods, tracking echo path variation. During the detection period, adjustive adaptive filter is ceased to prevent the echo canceler from being disturbed by near end signals. Also, the echo canceler will still be kept on for tracking any variation in echo path. Through computer simulation results, it was confirmed that the proposed algorithm shows better performance, tracking echo path variation and detecting the double talk periods, than the Ye et. al's and the NLMS algorithms from ERLE viewpoint.
Detecting Line Segment by Incremental Pixel Extension

An algorithm for detecting a line segment in an image is presented using incremental pixel extension. We use a different approach from conventional algorithms, such as the Hough transform approach and the line segment grouping approach. The Canny edge is calculated and an arbitrary point is selected among the edge elements. After the arbitrary point is selected, a base line approximating the line segment is calculated and edge pixels within an arbitrary radius are selected. A weighted value is assigned to each edge pixel, which is selected by using the error of the distance and the direction between the pixel and the base line. A line segment is extracted by Jilting a line using the weighted least square method after determining whether selected pixels are linked or delinked using the sum comparison of the weights. The proposed algorithm is compared with two other methods and results show that our algorithm is faster and can detect the real line segment.
Rule-based and Probabilistic Event Recognition of Independent Objects for Interpretation of Emergency Scenarios

The existing event recognition is accomplished with the limited systematic foundation, and thus much longer learning time is needed for emergency scenario interpretation due to large scale of probability data. In this paper, we propose a method for nile-based event recognition of an independent object(human) which extract a feature vectors from the object and analyze the behavior pattern of each object and interpretation of emergency scenarios using a probability and object's events. The event rule of an independent object is composed of the Primary-event, Move-event, Interaction-event, and 'FALL DOWN' event and is defined through feature vectors of the object and the segmented motion orientated vector (SMOV) in which the dynamic Bayesian network is applied. The emergency scenario is analyzed using current state of an event and its post probability. In this paper, we define diversified events compared to that of pre-existing method and thus make it easy to expand by increasing independence of each events. Video Matching Algorithm of Content-Based Video Copy Detection for Copyright Protection

Searching a location of the copied video in video database, signatures should be robust to video reediting, channel noise, time variation of frame rate. Several kinds of signatures has been proposed. Ordinal signature, one of them, is difficult to describe the spatial characteristics of frame due to the site of fixed window,
, which is compute the average gray value. In this paper, I studied an algorithm of sequence matching in video copy detection for the copyright protection, employing the R-tree index method for retrieval and suggesting a robust ordinal signatures for the original video clips and the same signatures of the pirated video. Robust ordinal has a 2-dimensional vector structures that has a strong to the noise and the variation of the frame rate. Also, it express as MBR form in search space of R-tree. Moreover, I focus on building a video copy detection method into which content publishers register their valuable digital content. The video copy detection algorithms compares the web content to the registered content and notifies the content owners of illegal copies. Experimental results show the proposed method is improve the video matching rate and it has a characteristics of signature suitable to the large video databases.
A Double-Sided Fingerprint Sensing Method

In this paper, we propose a new fingerprint sensing method that can reduce orientation error. General fingerprint input methods need finger to be put on the surface of a sensor. It can cause of rotation problem and it affects the recognition result significantly. This improved input method can minimize the rotation of a finger by holding double-sided sensor with both thumb and index finger at the same time. Whenever fingerprint is impressed, it has nearly the same orientation because sensors are located between two fingers. As a result, we can get a better performance in fingerprint recognition system, but it may need more hardware cost.
An Algorithm of SBIBD based Load Balancing Applicable to a Random Network

A Study of Management Strategy for Session QoS System in Education and Research Network

The dedicated line linked up with the internet maintains generally the efficiency of network by using Best Effort Model. But it is the problem that we allocate the higher bandwidth to services which request high bandwidth regardless of service types or purposes. To overcome this weak point, we use the Session QoS System which distinguish between business services such as E-mail, Web, etc. and non-business services. But, a recent session QoS system is not adequate to the environment similar to university, because that has many users who have various requests. In this paper, to satisfy various requirements of many user's in session QoS system which support services of research, education, business, etc., we analyze types of service in the environment of education and research network and propose a necessity of management strategies of session Qos system.
A Performance Improvement Technique for Nash Q-learning using Macro-Actions

A multi-agent system has a longer learning period and larger state-spaces than a sin91e agent system. In this paper, we suggest a new method to reduce the learning time of Nash Q-learning in a multi-agent environment. We apply Macro-actions to Nash Q-learning to improve the teaming speed. In the Nash Q-teaming scheme, when agents select actions, rewards are accumulated like Macro-actions. In the experiments, we compare Nash Q-learning using Macro-actions with general Nash Q-learning. First, we observed how many times the agents achieve their goals. The results of this experiment show that agents using Nash Q-learning and 4 Macro-actions have 9.46% better performance than Nash Q-learning using only 4 primitive actions. Second, when agents use Macro-actions, Q-values are accumulated 2.6 times more. Finally, agents using Macro-actions select less actions about 44%. As a result, agents select fewer actions and Macro-actions improve the Q-value's update. It the agents' learning speeds improve.
A Development of Reference Terminology Subset Editor for effective adaption of Clinical Vocabulary

It is highly useful in an actual clinical setting to apply appropriate medical terms to every area of electronic medical record (EMR) and link them effectively, as a single medical terminology system cannot cover all medical concepts. In order to use standardized terms conveniently and efficiently, it is required to categorize them depending on the purpose of individual departments or physicians and thereby develop organized subsets of extracted terms highly likely to be used. In addition, it is important to such a subset to make it possible to change or correct standardized terminology system and continue to develop and upgrade to meet renewed demands of users. In this paper, data including chief compliant, symptoms, diagnosis, operation, and history of previous treatments were collected from discharge summary of patients with Department of Neurosurgery at Busan National University Hospital for analysis. In addition, subset database was created, and for terms needed to be added, the physician directly performed mapping through connection with reference terminology server and developed subset editor for the purpose of creating new subset database. Therefore, it is expected that this can serve as a practical and effective management method to reduce problems and inefficiency caused by existing vast terminology system.
Laser Pointer Interaction System Based on Image Processing

The evolution of input device for computer has pretty much slowed down after the introduction of mouse as feinting input device. Even though stylus and touch screen were invented later on which provide some alternatives, all these methods were designed to have close range interaction with computer. There are not many options available for user to interact with computer from afar, which is especially needed during presentation. Therefore, in this paper, we try to fill the gap by proposing a laser pointer interaction system to allow user to give pointing input command to the computer from some distance away using only laser pointer, which is cheap and readily available. With the combination of image processing based software, we could provide mouse-like pointing interaction with computer. The proposed system works well not only in currently plane screen, but also in flexible screen by incorporating the feature of non-linear coordinate mapping algorithm in our system so that our system can support non-linear environment, such as curved and flexible wall.
Health Level 7 Version 3 based Generating Clinical Document Architecture for Medication Administration System

This study proposes the actualization of a standard data model for activities through the development of clinical document architecture for medication administration using the health level 7 development frameworks(HDF) process based on object oriented analysis and development method of health level 7 V 3. Medication administration is the most common activity performed by clinical professionals at healthcare settings. A standardized information model and structured hospital information system are necessary to achieve evidence-based clinical activities. We had used HDF and various tools(Rose tree, RMIM designer, V3 generator) to create the clinical document architecture(CDA). This allowed us to illustrate each step of the HDF in the administration of medication. This study generated a information model of the medication administration process, which is one clinical activity. It should become a fundamental conceptual model for understanding international standard methodology by information technology(IT) developers with the objective of modeling healthcare information systems.
A Data Scheduling Algorithm Considering the Request Probability for Data Broadcasting

Data broadcasting is a mechanism to transmit information to clients in simplex transmission environments. In this mechanism, server transmits to repeat all information to all users and users use a necessary data when the data is transmitted. Therefore users are waiting the necessary data until the data is transmitted. It is important to reduce user's waiting time. Server schedules the data to reduce waiting time. In this paper, we study efficient data scheduling algorithm. The result shows that the performance of the proposed method is increased 13 percent compared to the method considering only request frequency.
A Study of Java Card File System with File Cache and Direct Access function

As toward a ubiquitous society, a lot of methods have been proposed to protect personal privacy. Smart Cards with CPU and Memory are widely being used to implement the methods. The use of Java Card is also gradually getting expanded into more various applications. Because there is no standards in Java Card File System, Generally, Java Card File System follows the standards of Smart Card File System. However, one of disadvantages of the Java Card File System using a standard of Smart Card File System is that inefficient memory use and increasing processing time are caused by redundancy of data and program codes. In this paper, a File Cache method and a Direct Access method are proposed to solve the problems. The proposed methods are providing efficient memory use and reduced processing time by reduce a program codes.
