Design and Implementation of a Mobile Runtime Library for Execution of Large-scale Application

Today's growth of the mobile communication infrastructure made mobile computing systems like cellular phones came next to or surpassed the desktop PCs in popularity due to their mobility. Although the performance of mobile devices is now being improved continuously, it is a current common sense that compute intensive large-scale applications can hardly run on any kind of mobile handset devices. To clear up this problem, we decided to exploit the mobile cluster computing system and surveyed the existing ones first. We found out, however, that most of them are not the actual implementations but a mobile cluster infrastructure proposal or idea suggestions for reliable mobile clustering. To make cell phones participated in cluster computing nodes, in this paper, we propose a redesigned JPVM cluster computing engine and a set of WIPI mobile runtime functions interfacing with it. And we also show the performance evaluation results of real parallel applications running on our Mobile-JPVM cluster computing systems. We find out by the performance evaluation that large-scale applications can sufficiently run on mobile devices such as cellular phones when using our mobile cluster computing engine.
Implementation of Sensor Network Monitoring System with Energy Efficiency Constraints

As the study of ubiquitous computing environment has been very active in recent years, the senor network technology is considered to be a core technology of it. This wireless sensor network is enabled to sense and gather data of interest from its surroundings by sensor nodes applied in physical space. Each sensor node structuring the sensor network is demanded to execute the required service using limited resources. This limited usage of resources requires the sensor node to energy-efficiently perform in building wireless sensor network, which enables to extend the entire network life. This study structures a system able to monitor changing environment data on a real-time basis using a computer remotely as it energy-efficiently gathers and sends environment data of specific areas.
Computation of the Shortest Distance of Container Yard Tractor for Multi-Cycle System

A container terminal productivity is maximized by a minimized time for processing containers. So, we have been elevated the container terminal productivity through an improvement of computing system, but there are a limitation because of problems for transportation management and method. A Y/T(Yard Tractor), which is a representative transportation, is able to do only one process, loading or unloading, at one time. So if the Y/T can do loading and unloading step by step at a same time, the processing time would be shortened. In this paper, we proposed an effective operating process of Y/T(Yard Tractor) Multi-Cycle System by applying RTLS(Real Time Location System) to Y/T(Yard Tractor) in order to improve the process of loading and unloading at the container terminal. For this, we described Multi-Cycle System. This system consists of a real time location of Y/T based on RTLS, an indicating of Y/T location in real time with GIS technology, and an algorithm(Dijkstra's algorithm) of the shortest distance. And we used the system in container terminal process and could improve the container terminal productivity. As the result of simulation for the proposed system in this paper, we could verify that 9% of driving distance was reduced compared with the existing rate and 19% of driving distance was reduced compared with the maximum rate. Consequently, we could find out the container performance is maximized.
Time-Efficient Voltage Scheduling Algorithms for Embedded Real-Time Systems with Task Synchronization

Many embedded real - lime systems have adopted processors supported with dynamic voltage scal-ing(DVS) recently. Power is one of the important metrics for Optimization in the design and operation of embedded real-time systems. We can save considerable energy by using slowdown of processor sup-ported with DVS. In this paper, we improved the previous algorithm at a point of view of time complexity to calculate task slowdown factors for an efficient energy consumption in embedded real-time systems with task synchronization. We grasped the properties of the previous algorithm having
time complexity through mathematical analysis and s simulation. Using its properties we proposed the improved algorithms with O(nlogn) and O(n) time complexity which have the same performance as the previous algorithm has.
A P2P Real-time Game System for Multiplayer on Overlay Network

A stable game managing system is absolutely needed to accept simultaneous interlacing of many users for on- line game system. The proposed P2P on-line game system in this paper is able to get stable and real-time game managing within limited time stamp utilizing through reorganizing peers according to synchronous time which can be avoid congestion on one region, it is possible to synchronize for game nodes within limited time stamp utilizing. Reorganizing M-tree which leads 10 distribute loads. The system manages each region unit, and it is execute no matter how big game sizes are. Thus to ensure such as the problems of expand server and stabilization or message transmission. Also, prove efficiency of the suggested system through the simulation.
An Object Detection System using Eigen-background and Clustering

The object detection is essential for identifying objects, location information, and user context-aware in the image. In this paper, we propose a robust object detection system. The System linearly transforms learning data obtained from the background images to Principal components. It organizes the Eigen-background with the selected Principal components which are able to discriminate between foreground and background. The Fuzzy-C-means (FCM) carries out clustering for images with inputs from the Eigen-background information and classifies them into objects and backgrounds. It used various patterns of backgrounds as learning data in order to implement a system applicable even to the changing environments, Our system was able to effectively detect partial movements of a human body, as well as to discriminate between objects and backgrounds removing noises and shadows without anyone frame image for fixed background.
Development of Processing Program for Audio-vision System Based on Auditory Input

The final goal of our research is developing not a simple collision a1ann equipment for the blinded walkers, but the apparatus (Audio- Vision System) which can simulate vision based on auditory information so that the blinds can figure the three dimensional space in front of them. On the way to the final goal, in this study, simulation software was developed and verified. Thirty normal volunteers were included in the subject group and the average age Was 25.8 years old. After being accustomed to the system by evaluating 10 blinded virtual spaces, the volunteers performed test using another set of 10 blinded virtual spaces. The results of test were scored by shape, center, margin, and gradient surface of objects in virtual space. The score of each checking point ranged from 1 to 5, and the full score was converted to 100. As results of this study, the total score ranged from 77 to 97 with the average of 88.7. In this study, a simulation software was developed and verified to have acceptable success rale. By combining to visual sensors, the vision-reconstruction system based on auditory signal (Audio-vision System) may be developed.
An Occupant Sensing System Using Single Video Camera and Ultrasonic Sensor for Advanced Airbag

We proposed an occupant sensing system using single video camera and ultrasonic sensor for the advanced airbag. To detect the occupant form and the face position in real-time, we used the skin color and motion information. We made the candidate face block image using the threshold value of the color difference signal corresponding to skin color and difference value of current image and previous image of luminance signal to gel motion information. And then it detects the face by the morphology and the labeling. In case of night without color and luminance information, it detects the face by using the threshold value of the luminance signal get by infra-red LED instead of the color difference signal. To evaluate the performance of the proposed occupant detection system, it performed various experiments through the setting of the IEEE camera, ultrasonic sensor, and infra-red LED in vehicle jig.
A High Capacity Reversible Watermarking Using Histogram Shifting

Reversible watermarking hides some information in a digital image in such a way that an authorized party could decode the hidden information and also restore the image to its original state. In this paper, a high capacity reversible watermarking method using histogram shifting is proposed. In order to increase embedding capacity, the proposed method divides the image into
blocks and uses a paring(horizontal, vertical, diagonal) inside each block, then finds a maximum embedding bin which has the most frequent difference values among the parings. Also, the proposed method removes the overflow and underflow by using location map which including the maximum embedding bin and increases the embedding capacity by embedding iteratively. The experimental results show that the proposed method provides a high embedding capacity and good visual quality compared with the conventional reversible watermarking methods.
A Study on Efficient Sensor Node Operations Through Construction and Analysis of U-Campus Environment Information System

Sensor networks applications can be employed by a vast range of applications. Environmental information monitoring systems and ecosystem surveillance are representative application using sensor networks. But, limited battery capacity of sensor node is a key feature that determines lifetime of networks and system. It also affects quality of collected data. We recognized factors that affects lifetime of environment sensor nodes through the experiment of environment information system deployed over campus. We will show useful proposals for future construction of sensor network application systems.
A Study on Security Solution for USB Flash Drive

A USB flash drive is a portable storage device. For its promising moderate price, portability and high capacity USB flash drive users are increasing rapidly. Despite these advantages USB flash drives have critical problems as well. Such as personal information data leakage due to easy loss of the portable device. As these personal information leakage incidents increases various security measure solutions are produced and distributed. Despite these security measures and solutions it is not enough to perfectly protect personal data leakage. Spatial and Temporal Resolution Selection for Bit Stream Extraction in H.264 Scalable Video Coding

H.264 SVC(Scalable Video Coding) provides the advantages of low disk storage requirement and high scalability. However, a streaming server or a user terminal has to extract a bit stream from SVC file. This paper proposes a bit stream extraction method which can get the maximum PSNR value while date bit rate does not exceed the available network bandwidth. To do this, this paper obtains the information about extraction points which can get the maximum PSNR value offline and decides the spatial/temporal resolution of a bit stream at run-time. This resolution information along with available network bandwidth is used as the parameters to a bit stream extractor. Through experiment with JSVM reference software, we proved that proposed bit stream extraction method can get a higher PSNR value.
The Design of Information Security Management System for SMEs Industry Technique Leakage Prevention

Since SMEs have recognized needs for industrial technique leakage prevention, they tend to construct information security system causing huge consumption of budget, yet they cannot organize information security team to operate integrated information security management system with consistency and it is fact that there only occur instant introductions of certain system. In this study, we designed information security management system for SMEs' industrial technique leakage prevention which is differentiated from those of large enterprises based on current status of SMEs' industrial technique leakage. Specifically we analyzed current status and vulnerability of SMEs' industrial technique leakage and we designed industrial technique leakage prevention management system for SMEs. Then we applied Delphi method to validate appropriateness of study result. We strongly believe that SMEs may estimate a appropriate level of investment on information security and develop countermeasures for control by utilizing this study result.
The Underwater Environment Monitoring System based on Ocean Oriented WSN(Wireless Sensor Network)

The analysis of ocean environment offers us essential information for ocean exploration. But ocean environment has a lot of environmental variables such as the movements of nodes by an ocean current, corrosion by salt water, attenuation of radio wave, occurrences of multi-path and difficulty of sensor nodes' deployment. It is accordingly difficult and complex to gather and process the environmental information through ocean data communication due to these constraints of ocean environment unlike the terrestrial wireless networks. To overcome these problems, we organized ocean communication network for monitoring underwater environment by real experiment in Gyeongpoho similar to ocean environment. Therefore, this paper aims at overcoming major obstacles in ocean environment, effectively deploying sensor nodes for ocean environment monitoring and defining an efficient structure suitable for communication environment by the implementation of ocean environment monitoring system in Gyeongpoho.
Improved Access Control using Context-Aware Security Service

As the ubiquitous technology has penetrated into almost every aspect of modern life, the research of the security technology to solve the weakness of security in the ubiquitous environment is received much attention. Because, however, today's security systems are usually based on the fixed rules, many security systems can not handle diverse situations in the ubiquitous environment appropriately. Although many existing researches on context aware security service are based on ACL (Access Control List) or RBAC (Role Based Access Control), they have an overhead in the management of security policy and can not manipulate unexpected situations. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a context-aware security service providing multiple authentications and authorization from a security level which is decided dynamically in a context-aware environment using FCM (Fuzzy C-Means) clustering algorithm and Fuzzy Decision Tree. We show proposed model can solve typical conflict problems of RBAC system due to the fixed rules and improve overhead problem in the security policy management. We expect to apply the proposed model to the various applications using contextual information of the user such as healthcare system, rescue systems, and so on.
A Method of Functional Game Design for the Silver Generation

Because of a rising in the standard of living and the development of medical technology, Korea is expected to become an aging society more than 14% elderly population and the silver generation will be responsible for the large portion of economic activities. The silver generation has relatively diminished in perception, learning, and exercise due to the physical aging. Therefore, it is important the development of game contents which can constantly provide the maintenance function of physical and mental health and the functional exercise with spending the leisure time. In this paper, we suggest a design method for developing the game contents which are able to help the silver generation to strengthen their lower extremities and to enjoy their leisure time. The proposed method will enable to lead the silver generation to carry on the physical activities with the amusement of playing a game through the functional design concepts appropriate for the ability of the silver generation's perception and physical activities, an adaptive game process customized by the individual capability and a user-friendly sensory interface.
A Design Method of Auction type e-Commerce for Online Game Items exchange

The main goal of general Online games is that the game user gain a high level character. If you want to grow up your character so fast, you need to have proper items. But sometimes users get items in the game that are not fit for the character. For the reason, game's users exchange these items each other. But such a function that serviced in the game is very restricted. To improve dealing function, it is necessary to support various method in the game such as Internet item dealing sites. By providing various service like as auction system service not the general dealing method, it is convenient for game users to deal with their own items. In this paper, by analyzing both function of internet item dealing site and function of item dealing used some domestic on-line game, we are propose the design method of auction type e-commerce that has the each advantage. Using the our proposed method, users can get information rapidly who want to deal with their own items, and deal with items through various functions.
