A vision-based method for positioning and orienting of pallets is presented in this paper, which guides autonomous forklifts to engage pallets automatically. The method uses a single camera mounted on the fork carriage instead of two cameras for stereo vision that is conventionally used for positioning objects in 3D space. An image back-projection technique for determining the orient of a pallet without any fiducial marks is suggested in tins paper, which projects two feature lines on the front plane of the pallet backward onto a virtual plane that can be rotated around a given axis in 3D space. We show the fact that the rotation angle of the virtual plane on which the back-projected feature lines are parallel can be used to describe the orient of the pallet front plane. The position of the pallet is determined by using ratio of the distance between the back-projected feature lines and their real distance on the pallet front plane. Through a test on real pallet images, we found that the proposed method was applicable to real environment practically in real-time.
Hand Tracking and Hand Gesture Recognition for Human Computer Interaction

The aim of this paper is to present the methodology for hand tracking and hand gesture recognition. The detected hand and gesture can be used to implement the non-contact mouse. We had developed a MP3 player using this technology controlling the computer instead of mouse. In this algorithm, we first do a pre-processing to every frame which including lighting compensation and background filtration to reducing the adverse impact on correctness of hand tracking and hand gesture recognition. Secondly, YCbCr skin-color likelihood algorithm is used to detecting the hand area. Then, we used Continuously Adaptive Mean Shift (CAMSHIFT) algorithm to tracking hand. As the formula-based region of interest is square, the hand is closer to rectangular. We have improved the formula of the search window to get a much suitable search window for hand. And then, Support Vector Machines (SVM) algorithm is used for hand gesture recognition. For training the system, we collected 1500 hand gesture pictures of 5 hand gestures. Finally we have performed extensive experiment on a Windows XP system to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed scheme. The hand tracking correct rate is 96% and the hand gestures average correct rate is 95%.
Design of UHF RFID Tag Considering Chip Characteristic

Recently, RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) market spread in industry region is entering a phase of stagnation due to cost issue. RFID tag inlay cost has become relatively more expensive due to the recent decrease in chip price. Therefore, a simple and rapid design technique for RFID tag has yet to be implemented to achieve low cost. This paper presents a design technique considering chip impedance for antenna design for improved accuracy and computation time. As a result, it is confirmed that analysis error for resonance ranges within 20MHz and readable range error falls within 1.5m.
Stitcing for Panorama based on SURF and Multi-band Blending

This paper suggests a panorama image stitching system which consists of an image matching algorithm: modified SURF (Speeded Up Robust Feature) and an image blending algorithm: multi-band blending. In this paper, first, Modified SURF is described and SURF is compared with SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform), which also gives the reason why modified SURF is chosen instead of SIFT. Then, multi-band blending is described, Lastly, the structure of a panorama image stitching system is suggested and evaluated by experiments, which includes stitching quality test and time cost experiment. According to the experiments, the proposed system can make the stitching seam invisible and get a perfect panorama for large image data, In addition, it is faster than the sift based stitching system.
Effective Compression Technique for Secure Transmission and Storage of GIS Digital Map

Generally, GIS digital map has been represented and transmitted by ASCII and Binary data forms. Among these forms, Binary form has been widely used in many GIS application fields for the transmission of mass map data. In this paper, we present a hierarchical compression technique of polyline and polygon components for effective storage and transmission of vector map with various degree of decision. These components are core geometric components that represent main layers in vector map. The proposed technique performs firstly the energy compaction of all polyline and polygon components in spatial domain for the lossless compression of detailed vector map and compress independently integer parts and fraction parts of 64bit floating points. From experimental results, we confirmed that the proposed technique has superior compressive performance to the conventional data compression of 7z, zip, rar and gz.
An Adaptive GTS Allocation Scheme to Increase Bandwidth Utilization in IEEE 802.15.4

The superframe structure of IEEE 802.15.4, an international standard for low rate WPAN, is composed of CAP(Contention access period) and CFP(Contention free period). CAP is the contention-based access period, while CFP is contention-free access period for supporting QoS by allocating fixed bandwidth. The standard can support QoS for only a few devices, because the maximum number of GTSs is 7. Furthermore, as the value of BO (Beacon order) or SO (Superframe order) increases, the size of a time slot increases. This makes it difficult to precisely allocate bandwidth for any device, because the bandwidth is allocated by the unit of GTS. The proposed scheme of this paper can reduce the waste of BW in CFP by adaptively reducing the size of a time slot in CFP as the value of BO or SO increases and increase the number of GTSs to 127 by modifying the standard. The performance analysis shows that the proposed scheme can dramatically increase the bandwidth utilization during the CFP when comparing with IEEE 802.15.4.

The risk of leakage or theft of critical data which is stored in database is increasing in accordance with evolution of information security paradigm. At the same time, needs for database security have been on the rapid increase due to endless leakage of massive personal information. The existing technology for prevention of internal information leakage possesses the technical limitation to achieve security goal completely, because the passive control method including a certain security policy, which allows the only authorized person to access to DBMS, may have a limitation. Hence in this study, we propose Query Signature System which signatures the queries accessing to the critical information by interrupting and passing them. Furthermore this system can apply a constant security policy to organization and protect database system aggressively by restricting critical query of database.
Management Method of an Application License in the Android Platform Based on USIM

Various services through mobile have been expanding since the development of the Smartphones. People freely communicate, remake and redistribute the information through Wi-Fi. People's freedom can cause lots of problems. There are application licenses of various types in the Android platform. However, problems about redistribution are indiscriminately distributed what can't be disentangled commercial and noncommercial use. To solve these problems, an application program has to go through procedures of license check in the Android platform. This method has two problems. One, an exact license authentication is impossible in the place where Wi-Fi does not work. The other thing, this license information is stored directly into the Smartphone. Therefore, attacks are possible about the stored license information, To solve these problems, we designed and implemented the file structure for storing the license information into USIM. We can store and authenticate them. Thus, we propose above the authentication method that can be authenticated the license authentication safely in on or off-line.
Design and Implementation of an Authentication System for Anti-Forgery using the Smart Card

To protect the market for various products, existing authentication techniques using ID, hologram and RFID have been gradually developed. However, these methods can be easily exposed the authentication information, and also these exposed information easily copy. Thus, production of the counterfeit goods can not completely prevent. In this paper, to solve these problems, we designed JCVM file system for saving and managing the authentication information, user's information and a sales agency information into the smart card. And we designed and implemented an authentication protocol that can authenticate to avoiding exposure using processor of the smart card. Through this, this proposed scheme can prevent occurrences of the counterfeit goods. And also, can be used for authentication as any product that can attach the smart card.

Underwater acoustic sensor networks can be used disaster prevention and environmental monitoring systems in underwater environments. Because, the underwater environment is different from the ground, the long propagation delay, low transfer rates and limited bandwidth characteristics should be considered. In this, paper will propose the MAC protocol that allocates time slot into each node according to priority policy through the period of contention-free slot reservation in underwater acoustic sensor networks in order to avoid collision and minimize energy consumption waste. We perform mathematical analysis to evaluate the performance of the proposed protocol with regard to the collision probability, the energy consumption by collision, throughput and channel utilization. We compare the proposed protocol with the conventional protocol, and the performance results show that the proposed protocol outperforms the conventional protocol.
A Tuning Algorithm for the Multidimensional Type Inheritance Index of XML Databases

For the MD-TIX(multidimensional type inheritance index) that supports query processing for the type inheritance concept in XML databases, this paper presents an index tuning algorithm that enhances the performance of the XML query processing according to the query pattern. The MD-TIX uses a multidimensional index structure to support complex XML queries involving both nested elements and type inheritance hierarchies. In this index tuning algorithm, we first determine a shape of index page regions by using the query information about the user's query pattern, and then construct an optimal MD-TIX by applying a region splitting strategy that makes the shape of the page regions into the predetermined one. The performance evaluation results indicate that the proposed tuning algorithm builds an optimal MD-TIX by a given query pattern, and in the case of the three-dimensional query regions for the nested predicates of path length 2, the performance is much enhanced according to the skewed degree of the query region's shape.
A Research on the Simplification of the Expression Attribute Grammar

The attribute grammar is a grammar for static semantic rules to overcome the difficulties of type checking. But this attribute grammar is difficult to write and understand by its additional rules. A grammar would be preferable if it has simple and small size of an attribute grammar. This paper shows how to decrease the size of an attribute grammar for an expression using LH method. This approach considers the types of an expression. That is, the construction of a semantic relation between the types of the expression can make it possible that an attribute grammar be written with its simpler and smaller size.
A Study on Estimation of Regularizing Parameters for Energy-Based Stereo Matching

In this paper we define the probability models for determining the disparity map given stereo images and derive the methods for solving the problem, which is proven to be equivalent to an energy-based stereo matching. Under the assumptions the difference between the pixel on the left image and the corresponding pixel on the right image and the difference between the disparities of the neighboring pixels are exponentially distributed, a recursive approach for estimating the MRF regularizing parameter is proposed. The proposed method alternates between estimating the parameters with the intermediate disparity map and estimating the disparity map with the estimated parameters, after computing it with random initial parameters. Our algorithm is applied to the stereo matching algorithms based on the dynamic programming and belief propagation to verify its operation and measure its performance.
Design and Implementation of Emergency Medical System based on the Standard of HL7 Message for Utilization of Patient Medical Information

The existing emergency medical systems are unable to obtain accurate clinical information, so most of the specialized first aid is being done within the hospital. In this paper, designed medical information transfer structure based on medical information standards HL7 for accurate first aid is proposed. The designed system can share clinical information and emergency medical information in terms of standard HL7 messages. Therefore, the correct first aid is available in steps taken by the hospital. In addition, the system of this paper has been implemented based on the OSGi service platform for the efficient integration with other health-related services.
A Study on GUI Design of Online Game Character Customizing

Game character customizing has evolved with the desires of users who want to enjoy the scarcity value; thereby, the category which is subjected to character customizing is extending. However, despite such a great interest, character customizing interface has been created for the sake of the convenience of each game developing company, without proven guidelines. The confusion of designers who create interface is caused by using independently created interface without testing the optimal form of interface according to manipulative activity which integrates game character customizing interface, and this confusion leads to the discomfort of users. All the more, studies on character customizing have been mostly concerned with the preference for certain characters according to user propensity or character producing methods. Therefore, basic research into interface relative to character customizing is insufficient. Accordingly, through the development of universal guidelines appropriate for game character customizing interface. the discomfort of users is to be removed. This paper conducted an investigative analysis of the current interface of games which support character customizing, and classified the type of interface. Then, the paper researched 16 types of games that support character customizing out of games ranked within top 50 in the on-line game ranking. As a result of the analysis, the characteristic feature of every game appeared in the offer of detailed optional factors. Those detailed optional factors could be classified, to some extent; however, their manipulative interfaces were discovered not to be classified into different types. The results of this paper will be used as an analytic system in the preparation of the guidelines of game character customizing interface, down the road.
Efficient Description Method for Hanok Components Reflecting Coupling Scheme of Wooden Structure

This paper suggests a comprehensive method to describe architectural components for supporting Korean Traditional Building design with only small components set in CAD system. Korean traditional buildings can be classified variously based on the their size, usage and structure type(whether ornament part, namely Gongpo, is in there or not). Moreover components can be varied according to the combining rule between them. If all of these components are presented, these tremendous components rather prevent the efficient design of traditional buildings. In order to solve this problem we present object-oriented approach to describe versatile components as one template if they are same in functional aspects. From the template, many similar instances can be derived according to the attribute value. The templates are designed in order to reflect the coupling scheme between components in the relative parameters of the templates. It leads effects of minimizing error which can be occurred frequently in the process of traditional building design.
A Study for Depth-map Generation using Vanishing Point

Recent augmentation reality demands more realistic multimedia data with the mixture of various media. High-technology for multimedia data which combines existing media data with various media such as audio and video dominates entire media industries. In particular, there is a growing need to serve augmentation reality, 3-dimensional contents and realtime interaction system development which are communication method and visualization tool in Internet. The existing services do not correspond to generate depth value for 3-dimensional space structure recovery which is to form solidity in existing contents. Therefore, it requires research for effective depth-map generation using 2-dimensional video. Complementing shortcomings of existing depth-map generation method using 2-dimensional video, this paper proposes an enhanced depth-map generation method that defines the depth direction in regard to loss location in a video in which none of existing algorithms has defined.
