Real-Time Face-Detection Based on Multiple Color-Spaces and Multiple Thresholds for Distance Measurement Between Speaker and Smart-Phone

As the development of mobile devices, mobile phones are equipped with many features. Video-call feature is one of them. In this paper, we present distance measurement between speaker and smart-phone using multiple color spaces and multiple thresholds. first, detect face based on skin color information. and second, measure distance between speaker and smart-phone using the detected face region. Especially, the first considering point in the development of face area detection is real-time processing and the second point is robustness to solve the problems of face detection errors due to rapid change of object movement, lighting and background between adjacent frames.
Development of Recognition Application of Facial Expression for Laughter Theraphy on Smartphone

In this paper, we propose a recognition application of facial expression for laughter theraphy on smartphone. It detects face region by using AdaBoost face detection algorithm from the front camera image of a smartphone. After detecting the face image, it detects the lip region from the detected face image. From the next frame, it doesn't detect the face image but tracks the lip region which were detected in the previous frame by using the three step block matching algorithm. The size of the detected lip image varies according to the distance between camera and user. So, it scales the detected lip image with a fixed size. After that, it minimizes the effect of illumination variation by applying the bilateral symmetry and histogram matching illumination normalization. After that, it computes lip eigen vector by using PCA(Principal Component Analysis) and recognizes laughter expression by using a multilayer perceptron artificial network. The experiment results show that the proposed method could deal with 16.7 frame/s and the proposed illumination normalization method could reduce the variations of illumination better than the existing methods for better recognition performance.
Hand Gesture Recognition using Optical Flow Field Segmentation and Boundary Complexity Comparison based on Hidden Markov Models

In this paper, we will present a method to detect human hand and recognize hand gesture. For detecting the hand region, we use the feature of human skin color and hand feature (with boundary complexity) to detect the hand region from the input image; and use algorithm of optical flow to track the hand movement. Hand gesture recognition is composed of two parts: 1. Posture recognition and 2. Motion recognition, for describing the hand posture feature, we employ the Fourier descriptor method because it's rotation invariant. And we employ PCA method to extract the feature among gesture frames sequences. The HMM method will finally be used to recognize these feature to make a final decision of a hand gesture. Through the experiment, we can see that our proposed method can achieve 99% recognition rate at environment with simple background and no face region together, and reduce to 89.5% at the environment with complex background and with face region. These results can illustrate that the proposed algorithm can be applied as a production.
Indoor Navigation System for Visually Impaired Persons Using Camera and Range Sensors

In this paper, we propose an indoor navigation system that can do walk safely to the destination for visually impaired persons. The proposed system analyzes images taken with the camera finds the ID of the marker to identify the absolute position of the pedestrian. Using the distance and angle obtained from IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit) accelerometer sensor and a gyro sensor, the system decides the relative position of a pedestrian for the previous position to determine the next direction. At the same time, we simplify a complex spatial structure in front of user by means of ultrasonic sensors and determine an avoidance direction by estimating the patterns. Then, it uses a few IR(Infrared Rays) sensors to detect stair. Our system offers position of visually impaired persons incorporating multiple sensors and helps users to arrive to destination safely.
Object Tracking Based on Centroids Shifting with Scale Adaptation

In this paper, we propose a stable scale adaptive tracking method that uses centroids of the target colors. Most scale adaptive tracking methods have utilized histograms to determine target window sizes. However, in certain cases, histograms fail to provide good estimates of target sizes, for example, in the case of occlusion or the appearance of colors in the background that are similar to the target colors. This is due to the fact that histograms are related to the numbers of pixels that correspond to the target colors. Therefore, we propose the use of centroids that correspond to the target colors in the scale adaptation algorithm, since centroids are less sensitive to changes in the number of pixels that correspond to the target colors. Due to the spatial information inherent in centroids, a direct relationship can be established between centroids and the scale of target regions. Generally, after the zooming factors that correspond to all the target colors are calculated, the unreliable zooming factors are filtered out to produce a reliable zooming factor that determines the new scale of the target. Combined with the centroid based tracking algorithm, the proposed scale adaptation method results in a stable scale adaptive tracking algorithm. It tracks objects in a stable way, even when the background colors are similar to the colors of the object.
Out-Boundary Rectangle Detection in Comic Images Using the Gradient Radon Transform

Today, there is a wide variety of digital contents on the Internet. Especially, comic images are one of popular digital contents. Most of them are scanned from comic books by digital scanners, but they were not normalized in sense of their size, skew and boundary margin. The normalization is very important step in comic image analysis. It can be achieved by finding out-boundary rectangles in comic images. In this paper, we propose a method for detecting the out-boundary rectangle using the gradient Radon transform in comic images. We applied the Radon transform using image gradients to extract line segments which are the out-boundary rectangle sides' candidates in comic images. The final out-boundary rectangle can be detected by local histogram and the candidate line segments. Experimental results show that our proposed method effectively detect the out-boundary rectangle in comic images.

In this paper, we introduce to the trend of web and social networks, mini blog and twitter services of digital new media age. Finally, we proposed a strategy of application for the social media and the direction of growth for twitter.
A Study of The Function-Oriented Model for SOA Development Process

Service-oriented architecture(SOA) is a paradigm where reusable units are independently executable and only accessible through outer interfaces. Standardized methodology based on SOA has not been decided yet although a lot of efforts have been made for systems using SOA. Therefore Development of system using SOA is facing many difficulties currently. In this paper, service oriented methodology of function based model for supporting legacy system is proposed. Standardized methods for function based reusability through analysing SOA methodology are proposed and guide lines for improvement of service reusability are presented.
A Web Contents Ranking System using Related Tag & Similar User Weight

In current Web 2.0 environment, one of the most core technology is social bookmarking which users put tags and bookmarks to their interesting Web pages. The main purpose of social bookmarking is an effective information service by use of retrieval, grouping and share based on user's bookmark information and tagging result of their interesting Web pages. But, current social bookmarking system uses the number of bookmarks and tag information separately in information retrieval, where the number of bookmarks stand for user's degree of interest on Web contents, information retrieval, and classification serve the purpose of tag information. Because of above reason, social bookmarking system does not utilize effectively the bookmark information and tagging result. This paper proposes a Web contents ranking algorithm combining bookmarks and tag information, based on preceding research on associative tag extraction by tag clustering. Moreover, we conduct a performance evaluation comparing with existing retrieval methodology for efficiency analysis of our proposed algorithm. As the result, social bookmarking system utilizing bookmark with tag, key point of our research, deduces a effective retrieval results compare with existing systems.
Design and Implementation of the GNEX-to-iPhone Converter for Smart Phone Game Contents

Since korean mobile communication companies each use different mobile platforms, developers must configure and translate their game contents to run under each of the smart phone platforms so that they can be serviced correctly. Nevertheless, such translation tasks require lengthy times and costs. This is one of the reasons why a variety of contents could not be provided. In order to mitigate such difficulty, this paper implemented the mobile contents converter system that converts mobile game contents of the GNEX platform to smart phone contents of the iPhone platform(iOS). The GNEX-to-iPhone automatic mobile contents translation system helps minimize the amount of time and cost required in servicing contents to different mobile communication companies by promptly translating platform-specific-contents to run under iPhone smart phone platforms. Also, the automatic translation and servicing of existing contents increases the reusability of these contents and also the productivity of new contents thereby offering users with a more variety of games.
Development of Texture Neutralization System for the Invisible e-Performance

On live performance such as play and musical, various stage effects are utilized to attract a diverse audience. These stage effects include traditional direction techniques, striking display effects and all kinds of ways of being immersed in the scene. In this paper, we propose a novel digital visual effects(digilog) for controlling the surface texture of objects based on spatial augmented reality. For this purpose, we present a method of neutralizing the appearance of an arbitrary object using a projector-camera system. To make the object appear as if it is a transparent object by projecting a carefully determined compensation image onto the surface of objects, we use the homography method for a simple and effective off-line projector-camera calibration. The successful uses of the basic algorithm of Smart Projector for measuring radiometric parameters led us believe that this method may be used for temporal variation of plays and musicals.
