A Study on the Digital Video Frame Obfuscation Method for Intellectual Property Protection

In this paper, we propose the digital video frame obfuscation method for intellectual property protection using the DC component of the intra frame and the motion vector of the inter frame at digital video encoding. The proposed method considers characteristics of the HVS (human visual system) which is sensitive at the low frequency and the middle frequency. This method makes the signal distorted as operating XOR between authentication signal and the DC coefficient of the intra frame including main information and the sign of the motion vector including edge motion, so that the video is normally displayed only when suitable authentication signal is applied.
A Tone Compression Model for the Compensation of White Point Shift Generated from HDR Rendering

Recently, a new image appearance model, named iCAM06, was developed for High-Dynamic-Range (HDR) image rendering. The dynamic range of a HDR image needs to be mapped on the range of output devices, which is called the tone reproduction or tone mapping. The iCAM06, the representative HDR rendering algorithm also uses the tone compression using a S-curve mapping function for image reproduction on the dynamic range of output devices. However the iCAM06 occurs white point shift during its tone compression process. Therefore, we propose a compensation method for white point shift problem using the corrected channel gain function. Experiment results show that the proposed method has better performance than the iCAM06.
Design and Implementation of Matching Engine for QbSH System Based on Polyphonic Music

This paper proposes a matching engine of query-by-singing/humming (QbSH) system which retrieves the most similar music information by comparing the input data with the extracted feature information from polyphonic music like MP3. The feature sequences transcribed from polyphonic music may have many errors. So, to reduce the influence of errors and improve the performance, the chroma-scale representation, compensation and asymmetric DTW (Dynamic Time Warping) are adopted in the matching engine. The performance of various distance metrics are also investigated in this paper. In our experiment, the proposed QbSH system achieves MRR (Mean Reciprocal Rank) of 0.718 for 1000 singing/humming queries when searching from a database of 450 polyphonic musics.
Implementation of Location Based Services Using Satellite DMB System

In this paper, the implementation of location based services (LBS) using S-DMB (satellite-digital multimedia broadcasting) system was proposed. In S-DMB System, the frequency of transmitted signal is about 2 GHz which has a characteristics of strong straightness but weak diffraction so that there are many shade areas such as indoors and underground spaces. Therefore the signal transmitted from the satellite should be retransmitted by the earth repeaters called as gap filler. Because each gap filler has its own identification value, the gap filler ID introduces the area in which the gap filler was installed. Generally, the 51st data symbols of S-DMB pilot signal transmitted from the satellite are padded by dummy value and gap filler ID is embedded in this pilot symbol by the gap filler when S-DMB signals are retransmitted by gap fillers. So using gap filler ID of S-DMB system, LBS such as region registration, distance and time to destination, alarm of local area information could be implemented. In the experiment to prove the performance of the proposed LBS system using the gap filler ID of the S-DMB system, the firmware of S-DMB chip composing of RF and baseband parts was lightly modified so that application processor was able to manipulate the gap filler ID and the its related regional information.
Comparison of Computer and Human Face Recognition According to Facial Components

Face recognition is a biometric technology used to identify individuals based on facial feature information. Previous studies of face recognition used features including the eye, mouth and nose; however, there have been few studies on the effects of using other facial components, such as the eyebrows and chin, on recognition performance. We measured the recognition accuracy affected by these facial components, and compared the differences between computer-based and human-based facial recognition methods. This research is novel in the following four ways compared to previous works. First, we measured the effect of components such as the eyebrows and chin. And the accuracy of computer-based face recognition was compared to human-based face recognition according to facial components. Second, for computer-based recognition, facial components were automatically detected using the Adaboost algorithm and active appearance model (AAM), and user authentication was achieved with the face recognition algorithm based on principal component analysis (PCA). Third, we experimentally proved that the number of facial features (when including eyebrows, eye, nose, mouth, and chin) had a greater impact on the accuracy of human-based face recognition, but consistent inclusion of some feature such as chin area had more influence on the accuracy of computer-based face recognition because a computer uses the pixel values of facial images in classifying faces. Fourth, we experimentally proved that the eyebrow feature enhanced the accuracy of computer-based face recognition. However, the problem of occlusion by hair should be solved in order to use the eyebrow feature for face recognition.
Development of a Self Instrument Learning Tool Using an Electronic Keyboard and PC Software

In this paper, we propose a self instrument learning tool using a PC-based software and an external electronic keyboard instrument with USB interface to help primary school students to learn playing piano more easily and effectively. The PC-based learning software and the external electronic keyboard instrument interact through the USB interface. This tool has a help window to provide information how to play and support interesting game mode for exercise. The external electronic keyboard instrument receives a selective information through the USB interface and display it on LEDs and 7-segment for novices to easily know the relation between the notes and the positions in the keyboard. The external keyboard instrument can detect false inputs, display them on LEDs and on the information window. We implemented a self instrument learning system and our feasibility tests showed its validity of the self learning tool to improve the learning efficiency.
Proposing Shape Alignment for an Improved Active Shape Model

In this paper an extension to an original active shape model(ASM) for facial feature extraction is presented. The original ASM suffers from poor shape alignment by aligning the shape model to a new instant of the object in a given image using a simple similarity transformation. It exploits only informations such as scale, rotation and shift in horizontal and vertical directions, which does not cope effectively with the complex pose variation. To solve the problem, new shape alignment with 6 degrees of freedom is derived, which corresponds to an affine transformation. Another extension is to speed up the calculation of the Mahalanobis distance for 2-D profiles by trimming the profile covariance matrices. Extensive experiment is conducted with several images of varying poses to check the performance of the proposed method to segment the human faces.
Implementation of AP-Based and RFID-Based Indoor Positioning Web Services

LBS (Location Based Service) services are very useful to our daily life and it should be available inside a building: a huge building, a shopping mall, a large scale underground shopping center, and so on where GPS (Global Positioning System) signal is not available. An LBS which is provided inside a building is called an ILBS (Indoor Location Based Service). One of the most important techniques for ILBS development is indoor positioning. Among the indoor positioning techniques, APs (access points) of WLAN based ones are most economical because WLAN is available almost everywhere. Meanwhile, the web service has been proved to be an excellent practice of software reuse. Therefore, if indoor positioning is provided in the form of web service to programmers then development of ILBS would be greatly accelerated. This paper introduces the AP based trilateration and K-NN indoor positioning and RFID based indoor positioning web services we have developed.
VLSI Design for Folded Wavelet Transform Processor using Multiple Constant Multiplication

This paper presents a VLSI design for lifting-based discrete wavelet transform (DWT) 9/7 filter using multiplierless multiple constant multiplication (MCM) architecture. This proposed design is based on the lifting scheme using pattern search for folded architecture. Shift-add operation is adopted to optimize the multiplication process. The conventional serial operations of the lifting data flow can be optimized into parallel ones by employing paralleling and pipelining techniques. This optimized design has simple hardware architecture and requires less computation without performance degradation. Furthermore, hardware utilization reaches 100%, and the number of registers required is significantly reduced. To compare our work with previous methods, we implemented the architecture using Verilog HDL. We also executed simulation based on the logic synthesis using
CMOS standard cells. The proposed architecture shows hardware reduction of up to 60.1% and 44.1% respectively at 200 MHz clock compared to previous works. This implementation results indicate that the proposed design performs efficiently in hardware cost, area, and power consumption.
Real-Time Sensor Monitoring Service based on ECA

Wireless sensor network is a technology that collects the information about object in real-time. Sensor data has a characteristic that is generated an unprecedented volume data in short time. Analysis is essential to define the relationship between the data, including more of the data from a large volume data stream which is acquired from the sensor. In order to effectively handle the sensor data stream, in this paper, using ECA rules to organize data in a meaningful and more practical real-time monitoring systems is proposed.
An Analysis of Vulnerabilities and Performance on the CCTV Security Monitoring and Control

Recently, the security monitoring and control systems based on spatial information in various field are operated and being developed according to evolve the spatial information technology. Especially, the CCTV monitoring and control system can be used in various field as a typical system. However, the security vulnerability problems have become an issue because the system connected by computer network and getting bigger than before. Therefore we studied security vulnerabilities of CCTV monitoring and control system which is being developed and operated. In addition, it is important to consider disaster and terrorism with unauthorized changes on location information. Therefore we analyzed the performance of observation when the cameras are break down as a result by hacking to CCTV monitoring and control system.
A Design of Prototype System for Information Collection and Management based on Disaster Site

Real time information on disaster situation is very important in disaster prevention effort. Generally, disaster related organizations use mobile devices to collect various disaster informations of disaster site. However, current disaster collection systems do not provide effective functionality to connect with another disaster information system. Therefore, disaster-related organizations have to make smartphone application for collection and administration of disaster information and then connect it with another information system. If this system is commercialized, vulnerability of previous system can be complemented. Thus, this paper focused on designing a prototype system for information collection and management in disaster site using smartphone applicatiom.

Government-related organizations and institutions are stepping up their efforts to establish information system and service for disaster prevention because of the increasing occurrence of disaster. Therefore, they are collecting numerous disaster data using various way such as using mobile device or disaster history document. However, these method requires large amount of time and effort. Moreover, it is difficult to connects with another system because previous ways fall short of standard and connectivity. Therefore, this paper focused on collecting various disaster information using smartphone application and then complement the drawbacks of previous system.
A Study on the Software Fault Modes and Effect Analysis for Software Safety Evaluation

These days, most of safety-critical systems, which are systems those failures or malfunction may result in death or serious injury to people, or loss or severe damage to social systems, or environmental harm, are being built of embedded software or loaded controlling software systems on computers, electrical and electronic components or devices. There are a lot kind of fault analysis methods to evaluate safety of the safety-critical systems equipped computers, electrical and electronic components or devices with software. However, the only assessment method to evaluate software safety of a safety-critical system is not enough to analysis properly on account of the various types and characteristic of software systems by progress of information technology. Therefore, this paper proposes the integrated evaluation method and carries out a case study for the software safety of safety-critical system which embedded or loaded software sizes are small and control response times are not sensitive by use of two security analysis methods which are Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Fault Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA) for ubiquitous healthcare system.
Implementation of Traditional Architectural Heritage Using Augmented Reality

Many researches are actively doing for digital implementation of traditional architectural heritage using multimedia and virtual reality technologies. In addition, various attempts are progressed to utilize the digitally implemented traditional architectural heritage as "contents." Nowadays, the digitally implemented traditional architectural heritage can be displayed on through the Internet and/or many multimedia appliances by these attempts. Recently, virtual reality technology, especially augmented reality technology, begins to grab the attention for digitally implementing architectural heritage. Augmented reality is a technology that makes possible to show the overlapped contents by piling up the virtual objects on the real world. Many studies for augmented reality are progressed because it has an advantage in interacting with virtual objects and information. This study proposes the method of digital implementation of traditional architectural heritage by using augmented reality technology. We presented the method and process of digital implementation of traditional architectural heritage with augmented reality technology. Moreover, digitally implemented traditional architectural heritage with augmented reality is compared with the contents implemented by other computer technologies. We, also, presented how to utilize the traditional architectural heritage contents by using augmented reality.
A Study on the Present Status and Promotion of Expo Character

Expo is now firmly established as one of the top three world event, with Olympic and World Cup, which can be achieved a centralized investment of various contents in economy, technology, and culture and so on. Local government, in South Korea, actively has worked to hold Expo to revitalize the local economy and to increase the local identity since Daejeon World Expo in 1993. However, it is a fact that is hard to find Expo making good professional identity design system of Expo for lack of adequate understanding of the local community and government about design system. Accordingly, this study will suggest the promotion Expo along with the importance of character development, and the present status and analysis of Expo character which is essential to identity establishment of Expo and the core of the communication.
Collaborative Maintenance Simulation System Using Virtual Mockup

Applying maintenance simulation using virtual mockup in product design phase enables maintainability test before prototyping physical products, and it is expected to reduce product development costs. The simulation results can be reused as contents of service manuals and RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) analysis data. Maintenance simulation should provide realistic representation of physical property of virtual product, assembly relation between parts and manipulation process to verify feasibility of product design. The simulation system should be extended to collaborative virtual environment to perform collaborative maintenance procedures. In this paper, the three layered system architecture and the physics based collaborative interaction technique are proposed to extend current maintenance simulation into collaborative virtual environment. The proposed system was implemented as ViMMS (Virtual Mockup Maintenance Simulation system), and compared with case study results of VADE (Virtual Assembly Design Environment). As a result, the ViMMS encompassed broader range of maintenance tasks by using physics based collaborative interaction technique.
The Comparison Study Against Preference Colors and Emotional Image of Car Colors According to an Age and Gender

Depending on the launch of the emotional generation, many researches developing the automobile preference color which reflects the preference color of the consumers are advanced. This study investigate preferred colors and emotional image of the car color reflecting the product design and consuming psychology. According to surveyed ages and gender, there are eight categories (women/20 's, 30 "s, 40 's, and 50 's and men/20 's, 30 "s, 40 's, and 50 's) based on the 30 persons. Preferred color is black, white, sky blue, purple, pink, and orange order. If black, white and gray are excluded, remained in the order of blue, yellow, and purple. There are big deferences on preference color when emotional preference color of cars is showed or not. Practically, the preference color is following in sensitivity. However the car image is recognized actually with conservativeness, they hesitates selection of the bright chromatic color car.
