FLIR and CCD Image Fusion Algorithm Based on Adaptive Weight for Target Extraction

In automatic target recognition(ATR) systems, target extraction techniques are very important because ATR performance depends on segmentation result. So, this paper proposes a multi-sensor image fusion method based on adaptive weights. To incorporate the FLIR image and CCD image, we used information such as the bi-modality, distance and texture. A weight of the FLIR image is derived from the bi-modality and distance measure. For the weight of CCD image, the information that the target's texture is more uniform than the background region is used. The proposed algorithm is applied to many images and its performance is compared with the segmentation result using the single image. Experimental results show that the proposed method has the accurate extraction performance.
An Information Security Scheme Based on Video Watermarking and Encryption for H.264 Scalable Extension

Recently, H.264 SE(scalable extension) has become a standard of next generation multimedia service which is one source, multi-user service in the telecommunication environment of different kinds of networks and terminal equipments. But existing DRM schemes for multimedia service are not fit for H.264 SE system. Because the amount of transmitted multimedia data is changed considering network environment and terminal equipments' performance by the system, but in the existing DRM schemes, the amount of handled multimedia data are not variable according to network environment and terminal equipments' performance. In this paper, an information security scheme combined video watermarking and encryption is presented for H.264 SE. Amount of watermarks and embedding positions are calculated by the frame number of enhancement layers which are created according to the state of networks and terminal equipments. In order to minimize delayed time by video watermarking and encryption, the video data are watermarked and encrypted in the H.264 SE compression process. In the experimental results, we confirmed that proposed scheme is robust against video compression, general signal processing and geometric processing.
Broken Detection of the Traffic Sign by using the Location Histogram Matching

The paper presents an approach for recognizing the broken area of the traffic signs. The method is based on the Recognition System for Traffic Signs (RSTS). This paper describes an approach to using the location histogram matching for the broken traffic signs recognition, after the general process of the image detection and image categorization. The recognition proceeds by using the SIFT matching to adjust the acquired image to a standard position, then the histogram bin will be compared preprocessed image with reference image, and finally output the location and percents value of the broken area. And between the processing, some preprocessing like the blurring is added in the paper to improve the performance. And after the reorganization, the program can operate with the GPS for traffic signs maintenance. Experimental results verified that our scheme have a relatively high recognition rate and a good performance in general situation.
A Real-time Augmented Reality System using Hand Geometric Characteristics based on Computer Vision

In this paper, we propose an AR(augmented reality) system using user's bare hand based on computer vision. It is important for registering a virtual object on the real input image to detect and track correct feature points. The AR systems with markers are stable but they can not register the virtual object on an acquired image when the marker goes out of a range of the camera. There is a tendency to give users inconvenient environment which is limited to control a virtual object. On the other hand, our system detects fingertips as fiducial features using adaptive ellipse fitting method considering the geometric characteristics of hand. It registers the virtual object stably by getting movement of fingertips with determining the shortest distance from a palm center. We verified that the accuracy of fingertip detection over 82.0% and fingertip ordering and tracking have just 1.8% and 2.0% errors for each step. We proved that this system can replace the marker system by tacking a camera projection matrix effectively in the view of stable augmentation of virtual object.
Improvement Method of Tracking Speed for Color Object using Kalman Filter and SURF

As an important part of the Computer Vision, the object recognition and tracking function has infinite possibilities range from motion recognition to aerospace applications. One of methods to improve accuracy of the object recognition, are uses colors which have robustness of orientation, scale and occlusion. Computational cost for extracting features can be reduced by using color. Also, for fast object recognition, predicting the location of the object recognition in a smaller area is more effective than lowering accuracy of the algorithm. In this paper, we propose a method that uses SURF descriptors which applied with color model for improving recognition accuracy and combines with Kalman filter which is Motion estimation algorithm for fast object tracking. As a result, the proposed method classified objects which have same patterns with different colors and showed fast tracking results by performing recognition in ROI which estimates future motion of an object.
Design of SoQ-based Cooperative Communication Protocol for UWB-based Distributed MAC/WUSB Systems

The WiMedia Alliance has specified a Distributed Medium Access Control (D-MAC)/WUSB protocol based on UWB for high speed wireless home networks and WPANs. In this paper, we propose a novel SoQ-based cooperative communication protocol adaptive to current UWB link transmission rate and QoS measure. The proposed SoQ-based cooperative communication protocol has compatibility with current WiMedia D-MAC/Wireless USB standard and is executed at each device according to a SoQ-based Relay Node Selection (RNS) criterion.
Delay-Power Aware Routing Protocol for Multimedia Ad hoc Networks

Power Aware Routing Protocol of MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc Network) minimized the power consumption of each node and helped to extend the lifetime of the network. But due to the nature of the protocol, it tends to increase the transmission delay, so multimedia transmissions were difficult to be applied. In this paper, a delay-power aware routing protocol is proposed considering the delay transmission delay that can be applied to ad hoc network. The proposed protocol consider two conflicting index, transmission delay and power consumption at the same time, maintaining a certain level of delay transmission delay while minimizes the power consumption. It is observed from the simulation results compared to not-considering delay transmission delay that the proposed protocol decrease transmission delay by 30% while the power consumption less than 10% increase.
A Study on Performance Improvement of CMMB Receiver to Reduce an Adjacent Channel Interference

Currently, CMMB(China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting) and the conventional analog TV broadcasting have transmitted by using UHF(Ultra High Frequency : 474MHz~754MHz) band. Normally, the transmission power of the digital TV broadcasting is lower than the conventional analog TV broadcasting to protect the reception quality of the conventional analog TV broadcasting. The reception sensitivity of CMMB receiver has severely deteriorated due to adjacent the conventional analog TV broadcasting signals which called ACI (Adjacent Channel Interference). To improve the reception sensitivity of a CMMB receiver on ACI environment, this paper proposed a simple method which is tuning a cut off frequency of LPF (Low Pass Filter). From the experiment, the reception sensitivity of CMMB receiver was improved as 11.3dB.
An Emergency Message Broadcast Scheme for Vehicular Networks

This paper presents a group based propagation method for multi-hop transmission, in order to deliver an emergency message to the reasonable size of vehicle troop. A group head is selected in considering of the position information of vehicles and radio transmission range. With benefits of the group based transmission, it is possible to minimize the unnecessary transmissions and the possibility of message collisions. We evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme compared with conventional schemes. Simulation results show that the message propagation performance is so stable regardless of vehicle's congestion degree.
Computational Analysis of Air Flows Inside Korean Traditional House

The present investigation is to examine the thermal behaviors of air flows inside Korean traditional house made of the construction materials transmitted. The methodology is numerical predictions of air flows depend on the temperature distribution inside the indoor spaces. The transient computational simulations are performed along with the different house types, weather condition, and operating time. Thermal properties of building units have been obtained by the parallel measurements and utilized in the numerical works. Consequently, the details of flows and temperature of air in the houses illustrate the thermal design of the traditional Korean house satisfy the requirements of human living.
Smart Social Grid System using Interactive Sketch Map

Recently, one of the received attraction fields in web based service is 'Human Relationship Service' that is called SNS. This relationship map service is able to deliver information to user more easily and visually because it is intuitive data that is linked with offline real world. While past map service put physical real information in the map, present map service is evolving into new communicative platform that expresses social relationship beyond simple search platform that shows real world. In this paper, we propose smart social grid system using sketch map that is based on online map service structure. This system has features such as standardized interface provision for various SNS, use to governance hub tool in case of establishing a personal network through expanded social grid, a role of bridge to mashup software linked with other SNS, user environment construction that reproduces social grid data, and the faster service setup by improved search technology.
Realistic and Real-Time Modeling of Numerous Trees Using Growing Environment

We propose a tree modeling method of expressing realistically and efficiently numerous trees distributed on a broad terrain. This method combines and simplifies the recursive hierarchy of tree branch and branch generation process through self-organizing from buds, allowing users to generate trees that can be used more intuitively and efficiently. With the generation process the leveled structure and the appearance such as branch length, distribution and direction can be controlled interactively by user. In addition, we introduce an environment-adaptive model that allows to grow a number of trees variously by controlling at the same time and we propose an efficient application method of growing environment. For the real-time rendering of the complex tree models distributed on a broad terrain, the rendering process, the LOD(level of detail) for the branch surfaces, and shader instancing are introduced through the GPU(Graphics Processing Unit). Whether the numerous trees are expressed realistically and efficiently on wide terrain by proposed models are confirmed through simulation.
Development of Architectural Components for Soong-Rye Gate And 3D Restoration with Building Information Modeling

As increasing interests for cultural content, 3D restoration about the valuable traditional architectures is in progress, nowadays. Digital restoration is generally performed with using new IT technology and equipments such as 3D scanner. From the view points of making better use of the 3D data, the methodology for 3D restoration leaves much room for improvement. When using 3D scanner, it is possible to get precise 3D data for exterior of the building but huge data size and insufficient information for the wooden intra structure might be obstacles for using them as a source of various digital contents. In traditional wooden structure, the binding rules for corresponding architectural components are important factor for realizing the architectural culture at that times. In this paper, we develop a design tool and architectural components reflecting the wooden intra structure. Moreover, we propose a new 3D restoration method from the design tool, which is good for making contents offering useful information for processes of construction and binding rule in a real time just at a glance.
