Tooth Region Segmentation by Oral Cavity Model and Watershed Algorithm

In this paper, we proposed a new algorithm for individual tooth region segmentation on tooth color images. The proposed algorithm used oral cavity model based on structural feature of tooth and new boundary of watershed algorithm. First, the gray scale image is obtained with emphasized tooth regions from the color images and unnecessary regions are removed on tooth images. Next, the image enhancement of tooth images is implemented using the proposed oral cavity model, and the individual tooth regions are segmented by watershed algorithm on the enhanced images. Boundary and seeds necessary to watershed algorithm are applied boundary of binary image using minimum thresholding and region maximum value. In order to evaluate performance of proposed algorithm, we conduct experiment to compare conventional algorithm with proposed algorithm. As a result of experiment, we confirmed that the proposed algorithm is more improved detection ratio than conventional algorithm at molar regions and the tooth region detection performance is improved by preventing overlap detection on oral cavity.
Implementation on SVM based Step Detection Analyzer

In this study, we designed and implemented a step detection analyzer that can compare and analyze the step detection rates and results among the step detection algorithms. The step detection analyzer converts 3-axes accelerometer data into continuous energy stream through SVM operation, shows the horizontal comparison among the step detection results for each step detection algorithms, and can make elemental detection analyses. For these processes, the step detection analyzer presents the continuous energy stream as energy waveform, checks the peak values and time location of the detected steps with step detection algorithms, and gives visual interface to get some possible causes in cases of step detection miss. It can also give the threshold graph for each algorithm to check the threshold value on missed cases directly and can help to get more appropriate threshold values or other adjustable parameters in step detection algorithm. This step detection analyzer can be applied efficiently on performance enhancement of step detection algorithm, on deciding an appropriate algorithm for a specific step counter system in the various step counter filed operations.
A Secure Face Cryptogr aphy for Identity Document Based on Distance Measures

Face verification has been widely studied during the past two decades. One of the challenges is the rising concern about the security and privacy of the template database. In this paper, we propose a secure face verification system which generates a unique secure cryptographic key from a face template. The face images are processed to produce face templates or codes to be utilized for the encryption and decryption tasks. The result identity data is encrypted using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). Distance metric naming hamming distance and Euclidean distance are used for template matching identification process, where template matching is a process used in pattern recognition. The proposed system is tested on the ORL, YALEs, and PKNU face databases, which contain 360, 135, and 54 training images respectively. We employ Principle Component Analysis (PCA) to determine the most discriminating features among face images. The experimental results showed that the proposed distance measure was one the promising best measures with respect to different characteristics of the biometric systems. Using the proposed method we needed to extract fewer images in order to achieve 100% cumulative recognition than using any other tested distance measure.
Improved CRT-based Image Watermarking in DCT Domain for Copyright Protection

Digital watermarking techniques have been used as one of the means for copyright protection and authentication of multimedia data. Conventional Chinese Remainder Theorem(CRT)-based spatial domain watermarking techniques do not perform well under JPEG compression. However, it is seen that the CRT-based watermarking technique in Discrete Cosine Transform(DCT) domain performs well for JPEG compression. In this paper, an improved CRT-based image watermarking method in the DCT domain is proposed. The proposed method provides better robustness which decreases changes of absolute difference of residues against rounding errors due to DCT conversion and various attacks. Experimental results show that the proposed method has a good robustness against various attacks compared with the conventional CRT-based watermarking in DCT domain.
A Study on Vocal Removal Scheme of SAOC Using Harmonic Information

Interactive audio service provide with audio generating and editing functionality according to user's preference. A spatial audio object coding (SAOC) scheme is audio coding technology that can support the interactive audio service with relatively low bit-rate. However, when the SAOC scheme remove the specific one object such as vocal object signal for Karaoke mode, the scheme support poor quality because the removed vocal object remain in the SAOC-decoded background music. Thus, we propose a new SAOC vocal harmonic extranction and elimination technique to improve the background music quality in the Karaoke service. Namely, utilizing the harmonic information of the vocal object, we removed the harmonics of the vocal object remaining in the background music. As harmonic parameters, we utilize the pitch, MVF(maximum voiced frequency), and harmonic amplitude. To evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, we perform the objective and subjective evaluation. As our experimental results, we can confirm that the background music quality is improved by the proposed scheme comparing with the SAOC scheme.
Image Enhancement Using Improved Self Degradation Restoration Method

Interpolation or super-resolution is used in order to restore degradation of image quality that appears after various transform of image. The method on subjective or objective image resolution improvement having low computation complexity has been being researched in many different ways. In this paper, image enhancement method using improved self degradation restoration(ISDR) method is proposed. The proposed method uses ISDR to estimate pixel value of missed coordinate in the process of image scaling, and combines the estimated loss information and interpolated image to generate enhanced result image. The proposed method shows that PSNR increases by 1.8dB, and subjective image quality is superior to other compared methods. The proposed method can be applied as a basis technique in variety of applications which requires image scale transform.

A Study on Environment Management System in Tunnel using Wireless Sensor Networks

In general, the cost of transceiver for wireless network configuration is more expensive than that for wired network. However, in case of environmental management system in a tunnel, the cost can be minimized by adopting low rate tranceiver because the amount of the exchanged data for tunnel monitoring is very small. When the obtained data from sensor node is sent directly to the corresponding command node, there is no need to consider routing problem of the data transfer. However in this case, sensor nodes are required to be implemented with high power transmitter and experience high energy consumption. To tackle this problem, relay nodes can be used to transfer the data of tunnel monitoring, and suitable routing protocols for selecting optimum path are needed. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a routing algorithm and a self-configuration protocol for environment management system in tunnel.
A Design of Web Browsing System based on Content Retransmission in Marine Satellite Network

With the development of digital satellite communication technology and the widespread use of smart devices, the demand for data communication in the maritime ship has increased. Recently, the communication between the maritime ship and the land is based on Inmarsat satellite service. The Inmarsat provides telephone, fax, data and telex service etc. However, since the satellite is payper-seconds billing service, the transmission of whole web contents to the maritime ship through the satellite causes high cost. In this paper, we propose web browsing system architecture that reduces the data traffic on the satellite link and retransmits the content selectively in order to solve these problems.
A Study on Formative Style of Silla Bell

Maintaining our tradition makes us have pride for our nation and plays important role for recognition and establishment of identity for our unique culture in the world. Contrast to the western scientific technique, the scientific technique of Silla Bell absorbed in the life of our nation is the fruit of wisdom science found through rich life and experience by harmony between our nation and nature. Today, ideological backgrounds for many cultural heritages weren't be found and there are many overflowing hypothesis. Silla Bell is the plastic art including cumulative utopia of the racial spirit. So there would be the information of the racial spirit including symbolization, artistry, creativity, and historicity. However, unlikely with the words, it is the profoundly concentrated shape, so the meaning can be diluted or distorted in later generation. The efforts to figure out the symbolization in Korean bells, especially Silla bell according to its exclusive shape, but no hypothesis was accepted as an established theory of academia by gaining extensive agreements. Thus this paper traces the symbolic meaning accumulated in the shape and prepares for the theoretical background accessing to the artistic spirit of forebears who created super-humanity formativeness. Also regarding the Silla bell which is regarded as the best Buddhist metal craft that people believe they can be free from the anguish at the time of listening to its sound, we studied the symbolization of the bell as the religious ritual custom as well as the possibility to utilize the bell as a motif of living art in the aspect of formative expression.
Case Study for Increasing the Learning Effect In Cyber Lecture

Cyber lectures were expected to replace the traditional classroom lecture, yet they were criticized due to the inefficiency. With educational technology supplemented, cyber lectures have improved their efficiency through the coherence of superior planning ability and improvement in computer and network technology. This paper's purpose is to understand the factors that improve educational efficiency of cyber lectures. Cyber lecture for IT subject for software practice is created to test the educational efficiency as lecture on theories will not distinctively show the lecture efficiency. The survey was conducted to students and statistical analysis was done on collected data to analyze the factors that influence educational efficiency of created lecture.
