Color Saturation Improvement using the Maximum Color Difference Table

In this paper, we propose a new color image enhancement method to improve the color saturation as well as luminance contrast in the YCbCr color space. The proposed method uses the maximum color difference table to compensate the perceived saturation changes due to luminance contrast changes. To improve the color saturation, the method first calculates the weighting factor by using the maximum color difference table and then multiplies the weighting factor to the input color difference signals. In this step, it maps color difference signals to proper color region to prevent the color distortion by considering the correlation of color saturations depending on the luminance and hue. The experimental results show that our method effectively improves color saturation compared to the conventional methods.
Zoom Motion Estimation Method by Using Depth Information

Zoom motion estimation of video sequence is very complicated for implementation. In this paper, we propose a method to implement the zoom motion estimation using together the depth camera and color camera. Depth camera obtains the distance information between current block and reference block, then zoom ratio between both blocks is calculated from this distance information. As the reference block is appropriately zoomed by the zoom ratio, the motion estimated difference signal can be reduced. Therefore, the proposed method is possible to increase the accuracy of motion estimation with keeping zoom motion estimation complexity not greater. Simulation was to measure the motion estimation accuracy of the proposed method, we can see the motion estimation error was decreased significantly compared to conventional block matching method.
3D Physical User Interface System using a Dominant Eye and an Index Fingertip

In this paper, we propose a new 3D PUI(Physical User Interface) system in which the index fingertip points and moves a mouse position on a given monitor screen. There are two 3D PUI schemes to control smart devices like smart TVs remotely, the relative pointing one and the absolute pointing one. The former has a problem in that it does not match the human perception process, and the latter requires excessive movement of the body. We combined the relative one and the absolute one, and develop a new intuitive and user-friendly pointing method, 3D PUI. It requires an establishment of a pyramid shape visible area (view volume) to point a mouse position on a screen with the dominant eye. In order to maintain the real-time view volume, however, it requires large computation depending on the movement of the dominant eye. We optimized the computation of the view volume in which it determines the internal and external position on the screen. In addition, Kalman filter is applied with tracing of the mouse pointer position to stabilize the trembling of the pointer and offers the user ease of use.
Adaptive Weight Adjusted Catmull-Rom Spline Interpolation Based on Pixel Intensity Variation for Medical Imaging Volume Visualization

In medical visualization, volume visualization is widely used. Applying 3D images to diagnose requires high resolution and accurately implement visualization techniques are being researched accordingly. However, when a three-dimensional image volume visualization is implemented using volume data, aliasing will occur since using discrete data. Supersampling method, getting lots of samples, is used to reduce artifacts. One of the supersampling methods is Catmull-rom spline. This method calculates accurate interpolation value because it is easy to compute and pass through control points. But, Catmull-rom spline method occurs overshoot or undershoot in large gradient of pixel values. So, interpolated values are different from original signal. In this paper, we propose an adaptive adjusting weights interpolation method using Gaussian function. Proposed method shows that overshoot is reduced on the point has a large gradient and PSNR is higher than other interpolated image results.
Proposing a Connection Method for Measuring Differentiation of Tangent Vectors at Shape Manifold

In this paper an algorithm that represents shape sequences with moving frames parallel along the sequences are developed. According to Levi-Civita connection, it is not easy to measure the variation of the vector fields on non-Euclidean spaces without tools to parallel transport them. Thus, parallel transport of the vector fields along the shape sequences is implemented using the theories of principal frame bundle and analyzed via extensive simulation.
Robust Illumination Change Detection Using Image Intensity and Texture

Change detection algorithms take two image frames and return the locations of newly introduced objects which cause differences between the images. This paper presents a new change detection method, which classifies intensity changes due to introduced objects, reflected light and shadow from the objects to their neighborhood, and the noise, and exactly localizes the introduced objects. For classification and localization, first we analyze the histogram of the intensity difference between two images, and estimate multiple threshold values. Second we estimate candidate object boundaries using the gradient difference between two images. Using those threshold values and candidate object boundaries, we segment the frame difference image into multiple regions. Finally we classify whether each region belongs to the introduced objects or not using textures in the region. Experiments show that the proposed method exactly localizes the objects in various scenes with different lighting.
Key Exchange Protocol based on Signcryption in SMART Highway

The SMART Highway project combines road construction with advanced technology and vehicle telecommunications. Its expected outcome is a world-leading intelligent road that is green, fast, and comfortable. A vehicular ad-hoc network(VANET) is the core technology of the SMART Highway, whose transport operation is based on road vehicles. The VANET is a next-generation networking technology that enables wireless communication between vehicles or between vehicles and a road side unit(RSU). In the VANET system, a vehicle accident is likely to cause a serious disaster. Therefore, some information on safety is essential to serve as the key exchange protocol for communication between vehicles. However, the key exchange scheme of the general network proposed for a fast-moving communication environment is unsuitable for vehicles. In this paper, communication between multiple vehicles more efficient and secure key exchange at the vehicle certification by signcryption is proposed.
Design and Implementation of the Smart Virtual Machine for Smart Cross Platform

Since domestic and foreign platform companies and mobile carriers adopt and use different kinds of smart platforms, developers should develop or convert contents according to each smart platform to provide a single smart content for customers. It takes long time and a lot of money to convert the conventional smart contents in order to serve other smart platforms. For the reason, more attention has been paid on Smart Cross Platform or Hybrid Platform, the core technologies of OSMU(One Source Multi Use) in which, once a program is coded, it can be executed in any platforms regardless of development languages. As a result, PhoneGap and HTML5 based Sencha Touch have been introduced. In this paper, we developed the smart virtual machine, which is built in smart cross platform based smart devices, unlike Android, iOS, Windows Phone devices being dependent of platforms, and helps to download and execute applications, being independent of platforms. the smart virtual machine supports C/C++, and Java language, being differentiated from JVM by sun microsystems that supports only Java language and .NET framework by microsoft that supports only C, C++ and C#. Therefore, it provides contents developers with the environment where they can get a wide range of options in choosing a language and develop smart contents.
Performance Analysis of Multicore Out-of-Order Superscalar Processor with Multiple Basic Block Execution

In this paper, the performance of multicore processor architecture is analyzed which utilizes out-of-order superscalar processor core using multiple basic block execution. Using SPEC 2000 benchmarks as input, the trace-driven simulation has been performed for the out-of-order superscalar processor with the window size from 32 to 64 and the number of cores between 1 and 16, exploiting multiple basic block execution from 1 to 4 extensively. As a result, the multicore out-of-order superscalar processor with 4 basic block execution achieves 22.0 % average performance increase over the same architecture with the single basic block execution.
Digital Restoration of Traditional Architectural Buildings Using Multimedia and Augmented Reality Technologies

Information and Communications Technologies(ICT) represented by Multimedia, Virtual Reality and Network could be used as the better ways to preserve and restore the original shape of cultural contents. This paper presents the detailed methods of Multimedia and Virtual Reality technologies to digitally implement the traditional wooden buildings which are called as a typical 'Korean Cultural Content." We implemented a 3D modeling of architectural parts, realized a roof curve, and texture-mapped the material qualities of traditional wooden buildings by using Graphic techniques. In addition, the information, which is implemented by marker-based Augment Reality, for the traditional wooden buildings can be obtained through the mobile appliances such as a smart phone. We, also, presented how to practically use the implemented digital Korea traditional wooden buildings.
Design of Ball and Plate Robot controller using Single Camera

This paper proposes a design method of ball-plate robot controller using single camera and two motors to balance the ball on plate and reduce steady state control error. To design the ball-plate system, it is necessary to observe state of the ball and maintain balance of the plate. The state of the ball is tracked by using the CAMShift algorithm and position error of the ball is compensated by the Kalman filter. Balance of the plate is controlled by driving two motors and we used DC motors which has smaller measurement error. Due to surface condition of the plate or tracking error of ball's position, there are small errors remained. These errors are accumulated and disturb maintaining balance of the ball. To handle the problem, we propose a controller supplemented with an integrator.
Design and Implementation of an Elevator Vibration Measuring System using 3-Axis Acceleration Sensor

Self-diagnosis, regular examination, completion examination and precise safety examination on an elevator offer primary sources for evaluating performance and stability of the elevator. as critical examination for operating the elevator. The items on vibration of an elevator in the self-diagnosis and safety examination are not especially specified but vibration itself is considered as essential element to provide diverse analysis data. There is the equipment "EVA-625" for measuring vibration of an elevator. It is operated by reading data via computer and analyzing data by skilled engineer. This study aims to design and realize software to analyze data collected through the LabVIEW, a graphic program language and hardware for receiving data measuring vibration of an elevator by using 3-Axis acceleration sensor.
An Integrated Scientific Workflow Environment over Multiple Infrastructures for Engineering Education of Aerodynamics

All around the world, numerous scientists have been carried out researches of e-Science to improve performance of computations and accessibility of their experimental flexibilities for a long times. However, they still have been in difficulty securing high-performance computing facilities. In case of Aerodynamics, for example, a single experiment costs a tremendous amount of budget and requires a span of more than 6 months even though researchers have been developed diverse improved mathematical methods as well as relied on advanced computing technologies to reduce runtime and costs. In this paper, we proposed a multiple infrastructure-based scientific workflow environments for engineering education in fields of design optimization of aircraft and demonstrated the superiority. Since it offers diverse kind of computing resources, it can offer elastic resources regardless of the number of tasks for experiments and limitations of spaces. Also, it can improve education efficiency by using this environment to engineering education.
Development of A Cyber Education Contents for the Ship Outfitting Basic Design

A Shipbuilding design program used in the shipbuilding industry tends to be shifted from the TRIBON software to the AM(AVEVA MARINE) software these days. Many large domestic shipbuilding companies have been using the AM instead of the TRIBON. New design software requires education programs for the necessary personnel. However the education programs for the AM are largely based on offline education. They suffer from constraints in space and time, and from high costs. This paper describes a development of online contents for the AM software that are focused for cyber education. It covers the applied process and the organization of the contents. The details of the development decisions including the security issue for the contents are described also.
An Implementation of Table-top based Augmented Reality System for Motor Rehabilitation of the Paretic Hand

This paper presents an augmented reality (AR) based rehabilitation exercise system to enhance the motor function of the hands for the paretic/hemi-paretic patient. The existing rehabilitation systems rely on mechanical apparatus for palsy rehabilitation, but we aim to use the rehabilitation system at home with easy configuration and minimized equipment by the computer vision based approach. The proposed method evaluates the interaction status of the fingertip action by using the position and the contact of the fingertip markers. We obtain the 2D positions of the fingertip markers from a single camera, and then transform the 3D positions from the calibrated camera space by using an ARToolKit marker. We adopt simple geometric calculation by the conversion of the 2D interest points into the 3D interaction points for the simple interactive task in AR environment. Some experimental results show that the proposed method is practical and simply applicable to the applications with personal AR interaction.
