Choi, Sook-Nam ; Chung, Hyun-Yeol ;
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 16, issue 8, 2013, Pages 905~913
DOI : 10.9717/kmms.2013.16.8.905
The Parallel Model Compensation Using Frequency-variant: FV-PMC for noise-robust speech recognition is a method to classify the noises, which are expected to be intermixed with input speech when recognized, into several groups of noises by setting average frequency variant as a threshold value; and to recognize the noises depending on the classified groups. This demonstrates the excellent performance considering noisy speech categorized as good using the standard threshold value. However, it also holds a problem to decrease the average speech recognition rate with regard to unclassified noisy speech, for it conducts the process of speech recognition, combined with noiseless model as in the existing PMC. To solve this problem, this paper suggests a enhanced method of recognition to prevent the unclassified through improving the extent of rating scales with use of maximum likelihood so that the noise groups, including input noisy speech, can be classified into more specific groups, which leads to improvement of the recognition rate. The findings from recognition experiments using Aurora 2.0 database showed the improved results compared with those from the method of the previous FV-PMC.

Among the recent security systems, security system with fingerprint recognition gets many people's interests through the strengths such as exclusiveness, convenience, etc, in comparison with other security systems. The most important matters for fingerprint recognition system are reliability of matching between the fingerprint in database and user's fingerprint and rapid process of image processing algorithms used for fingerprint recognition. The existing fingerprint recognition system reduces the processing time by removing some processes in the feature extraction algorithms but has weakness of a reliability. This paper realizes the fingerprint recognition algorithm using MAMS(Multi-Access Memory System) for both the rapid processing time and the reliability in feature extraction and matching accuracy. Reliability of this process is verified by the correlation between serial processor's results and MAMS-PP64's results. The performance of the method using MAMS-PP64 is 1.56 times faster than compared serial processor.

DOI : 10.9717/kmms.2013.16.8.927
Face detection algorithm of OpenCV recognizes the faces by Haar matching between input image and Haar features which are learned through a set of training images consisting of many front faces. Therefore the face detection method by Haar matching yields a high face detection rate for the front faces but not in the case of the pan and deformed faces. On the assumption that distributional characteristics of color histogram is similar even if deformed or side faces, a face detection method using the histogram pattern matching is proposed in this paper. In the case of the missed detection and false detection caused by Haar matching, the proposed face detection algorithm applies the histogram pattern matching with the correct detected face area of the previous frame so that the face region with the most similar histogram distribution is determined. The experiment for evaluating the face detection performance reveals that the face detection rate was enhanced about 8% than the conventional method.

Image scaling is used for a variety of real-life applications. In order to evaluate the performance of transform functions, the image quality are compared together before and after processing. For the objective evaluation of the transform functions, the exact criterion of image quality is required, and various aspects approaches are practically performed. However, few researches have been conducted on image quality measurement considering the position of pixels that are skipped or newly generated in the process of the image scaling. Therefore this paper focuses on the objective image quality measurement for positions of skipped or estimated pixels in the image scaling. The proposed method generated new image quality measure considering the positional changes using a conventional measure and evaluated sensitivity about positional changes. Through this experiments, it is observed that conventional image quality measurement is definitely affected by positional changes of a skipped and estimated pixels. It is also confirmed that the proposed method is an objective criterion to represent image quality for positional changes of skipped or estimated pixels. The proposed method can be used as a criterion to evaluate the performance of image restoration or enhancement functions.

By the enormous increase in mobile nodes and diverse service requests on wireless networks, wireless mesh network(WMN) takes an interest as the solution for such requests. However, lots of issues which should be solved to deploy WMN are still remained. In the network layer, the performance improvement of routing protocols is the major issue of nowadays researches. WMN can be easily deployed by use of protocols for mobile ad-hoc networks(MANET) because it is much similar with MANET in multi-hop wireless routing and which node plays as host and router concurrently. Unfortunately, most routing protocols for MANET have drawbacks such as large traffic overhead and long delay time for route discovery due to the network extension. They are major factors of performance degradation of WMN and most researches are focused on them. In this paper, domain-based AODV which is amended AODV to be applied in hybrid WMN is proposed. The proposed scheme divides a hybrid WMN as several domains and performs route discovery by header layer domain. Therefore it can reduce the distance for route discovery as much as average hop count between domain header and member nodes. From the simulation, domain-based AODV was showed slowly increasing delay time due to the network extension.
A Study on Countermeasure for CCN Interest Flooding Attack

To enhance the efficiency of network, content-centric networking (CCN), one of future Internet architectures, allows network nodes to temporally cache transmitted contents and then to directly respond to request messages which are relevant to previously cached contents. Also, since CCN uses a hierarchical content-name, not a host identity like source/destination IP address, for request/response packet routing and CCN request message does not include requester's information for privacy protection, contents-providers/ network nodes can not identify practical requesters sending request messages. So to send back relevant contents, network nodes in CCN records both a request message and its incoming interfaces on Pending Interest Table (PIT). Then the devices refer PIT to return back a response message. If PIT is exhausted, the device can not normally handle request/response messages anymore. Hence, it is needed to detect/react attack to exhaust PIT. Hence, in this paper, we propose improved detection/reaction schemes against attacks to exhaust PIT. In practice, for fine-grained control, this proposal is applied to each incoming interface. Also, we propose the message framework to control attack traffic and evaluate the performance of our proposal.

In this paper, we propose a method to infer the user's behavior and situation through collected data from multi-sensor equipped with a smart clothing and it was implemented as a smart-phone App. This smart-clothes is able to monitor wearer users' health condition and activity levels through the gyro, temp and acceleration sensor. Sensed vital signs are transmitted to a bluetooth-enabled smart-phone in the smart-clothes. Thus, users are able to have real time information about their user condition, including activities level on the smart-application. User context reasoning and behavior determine is very difficult using multi-sensor depending on the measured value of the sensor varies from environmental noise. So, the reasoning and the digital filter algorithms to determine user behavior reducing noise and are required. In this paper, we used Multi-black Filter and SVM processing behavior for 3-axis value as a representative value of one.

Non-linear editing is an editing method that, unlike linear editing, enables users to insert a new frame between existing frames. Non-linear editing systems are systems that support such method, and are composed of a computer, a software and a capture board that inputs/outputs video signals. Non-linear editing is used for modern television broadcasts and movie productions. Recorded footage and various graphic sources are combined into one visual content through a non-linear editing system. In this paper, we will look into functions of various non-linear editing softwares (mainly the most common of all; Adobe Premiere) as well as their merits and demerits during the editing process, and will also discuss their future Improvement direction.

3D stereoscopic cinema emerged as a new dominant media format. In principle, the stereoscopic cinema imitate the vision of the human being has two eyes. The stereoscopic cinema is filmed with 2 connected cameras at the same time and projected these 2 different images. With the stereoscopic glasses, the human being can see the overlapped images as a single 3D stereoscopic image. To make 3D stereoscopic cinema, it is very important to systemize the process of the 3D stereoscopic cinema production and to use the principle of the 3D stereoscopic cinema. This paper investigates the possibilities of the using the 3D stereoscopic principles such as the I.O.D, convergence point, parallax and the 3D comfort zone. Using the principle of the 3D stereoscopic cinema can be the technique of directing the film. Using the example of 3D stereoscopic short film My Birthday, I investigate the main technique of the 3D stereoscopic cinema.
