Individual Identification Using Ear Region Based on SIFT

In recent years, ear has emerged as a new biometric trait, because it has advantage of higher user acceptance than fingerprint and can be captured at remote distance in an indoor or outdoor environment. This paper proposes an individual identification method using ear region based on SIFT(shift invariant feature transform). Unlike most of the previous studies using rectangle shape for extracting a region of interest(ROI), this study sets an ROI as a flexible expanded region including ear. It also presents an effective extraction and matching method for SIFT keypoints. Experiments for evaluating the performance of the proposed method were performed on IITD public database. It showed correct identification rate of 98.89%, and it showed 98.44% with a deformed dataset of 20% occlusion. These results show that the proposed method is effective in ear recognition and robust to occlusion.
Signal Synthesis and Feature Extraction for Active Sonar Target Classification

Various approaches to process active sonar signals are under study, but there are many problems to be considered. The sonar signals are distorted by the underwater environment, and the spatio-temporal and spectral characteristics of active sonar signals change in accordance with the aspect of the target even though they come from the same one. And it has difficulties in collecting actual underwater data. In this paper, we synthesized active target echoes based on ray tracing algorithm using target model having 3-dimensional highlight distribution. Then, Fractional Fourier transform was applied to synthesized target echoes to extract feature vector. Recognition experiment was performed using probabilistic neural network classifier.
Correction of Rotated Region in Medical Images Using SIFT Features

In this paper, a novel scheme for correcting rotated region in medical images using SIFT(Scale Invariant Feature Transform) algorithm is presented. Using the feature extraction function of SIFT, the rotation angle of rotated object in medical images is calculated as follows. First, keypoints of both reference and rotated medical images are extracted by SIFT. Second, the matching process is performed to the keypoints located at the predetermined ROI(Region Of Interest) at which objects are not cropped or added by rotating the image. Finally, degrees of matched keypoints are calculated and the rotation angle of the rotated object is determined by averaging the difference of the degrees. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme has excellent performance for correcting the rotated region in medical images.
Design and Implementation of Electronic Shelf Label System using Technique of Reliable Image Transmission

Recently, in distribution market, demand for electronic shelf label system is increasing gradually to provide the accurate price immediately and detailed product information to consumers and reduce operation costs. Most of electronic shelf label system companies develop the full-graphic display device to display a wide variety of product information as well as the exact price. Our system had introduced Go-Back-N retransmission method in the early. However, we encountered performance problems that it delayed updating of the electronic shelf label system and exhausted the battery life time. Proposed adaptive image retransmission technique based on the selective scheme is that tags of electronic shelf label system recognize idle time of transmission cycle and require partial image retransmission to sever by itself. As a result, it can acquire much more opportunities of partial image retransmission within the same period and increase reception rate of full image for each tags. The experimental result shows that adaptive image retransmission technique's reception rate of full image for each tags is approximately 4% higher than existing previous works. And total battery life time increases 30 hours because tag reduce wake-up time as it receive only lost data instead of whole data.
A Protection Method using Destination Address Packet Sampling for SYN Flooding Attack in SDN Environments

SDN(Software Defined Networking) has been considered as a new future computer network architecture and DDoS(Distributed Denial of Service) is the biggest threat in the network security. In SDN architecture, we present the technique to defend the DDoS SYN Flooding attack that is one of the DDoS attack method. First, we monitor the Backlog queue in order to reduce the unnecessary monitoring resources. If the Backlog queue of the certain server is occupied over 70%, the sFlow performs packet sampling with the server address as the destination address. To distinguish between the attacker and the normal user, we use the source address. We decide the SYN packet threshold using the remaining Backlog queue that possible to allow the number of connections. If certain sources address send the SYN packet over the threshold, we judge that this address is attacker. The controller will modify the flow table entry to block attack traffics. By using this method, we reduce the resource consumption about the unnecessary monitoring and the protection range is expanded to all switches. The result achieved from our experiment show that we can prevent the SYN Flooding attack before the Backlog queue is fully occupied.
A Study on Improvement of Personal Information Protection Control Log Quality: A Case of the Health and Welfare Division

In this paper, we analyze the quality status of Health and Welfare division's standardized log and asses the characteristics of the institutions' logs analysis to establish the criteria to minimize hazards and control the quality of log's institutional details to limit extraction. As a result, extraction condition's proposed development direction to adequately assess and control health and welfare abuses privacy control target log. This improvement over the status and quality of information shared with relation to institutional work of the log quality characteristics is made possible. In addition, quality control and inspection standards were prepared in accordance with the institutional log characteristics. Future research will include performing continuous analysis and improvement activities on the quality of logs with integrated control of sharing personal information and distributing information about logs' quality to proactively target organ. Therefore, we expect that correcting proactive personal information misuse and leakage is possible to achieve.
A Natural Language Retrieval System for Entertainment Data

Recently, as the quality of life has been improving, search items in the area of entertainment represent an increasing share of the total usage of Internet portal sites. Information retrieval in the entertainment area is mainly depending on keywords that users are inputting, and the results of information retrieval are the contents that contain those keywords. In this paper, we propose a search method that takes natural language inputs and retrieves the database pertaining to entertainment. The main components of our study are the simple Korean morphological analyzer using case particle information, predicate-oriented token generation, standardized pattern generation coherent to tokens, and automatic generation of the corresponding SQL queries. We also propose an efficient retrieval system that searches the most relevant results from the database in terms of natural language querying, especially in the restricted domain of music, and shows the effectiveness of our system.
Visualization of Scattered Plasma-based Particle Acceleration Data

Particle accelerator has mainly used in nuclear field only because of the large scale of the facility. However, since laser-plasma particle accelerator which has smaller size and spends less cost developed, the availability of this accelerator is expended to various research fields such as industrial and medical. This paper suggests a visualization system to control the laser-plasma particle accelerator efficiently. This system offers real-time 3D images via convert HDF file comes from plasma data obtained from PIC simulation into OpenGL texture type to analyse and modify plasma data. After that, it stores high-resolution rendering images of the data with external renderer hereafter.
Likelihood-based Directional Optimization for Development of Random Pattern Authentication System

Many researches have been studied to overcome the weak points in authentication schemes of mobile devices such as pattern-authentication that is vulnerable for smudge-attack. Since random-pattern-lock authenticates users by drawing figure of predefined-shape, it can be a method for robust security. However, the authentication performance of random-pattern-lock is influenced by input noise and individual characteristics sign pattern. We introduce an optimization method of user input direction to increase the authentication accuracy of random-pattern-lock. The method uses the likelihood of each direction given an data which is angles of line drawing by user. We adjusted recognition range for each direction and achieved the authentication rate of 95.60%.
Developing a Simulator on the Manufacturing Process of Electrical Substation System

This research suggests a simulator regarding the Manufacturing Process of Electrical Substation System using a simulation method. This study is to propose and apply a new concept of simulation modeling, referred to as integrated Aspect-Oriented Modeling Approach (i-AOMA), in order to efficiently support the design and analysis of a Manufacturing Process of Electrical Substation System. The modeling based on i-AOMA can support easy generation of lots of alternative processes to meet simulation requirements of Manufacturing Process of Electrical Substation System in real case studies.
An Analysis of Recovery Rate and a Change of Depth Recognition After Watching 3D Videos

The recent increase in the production of 3D contents allowed viewers to experience various 3D contents. However, some of the viewers did not experience 3D depth well. Several researches were done in past to measure viewers' 3D depth perception, but these researches were done with certain limitations. In this paper, we measured viewers' 3D depth perception and recovery rate in relation with the changes in binocular disparities, saturation, and brightness values after subjects' watching 2D/3D contents. The results showed that when viewers watched the 3D content with positive binocular disparities for 42 minutes, viewers felt that the object seemed to have moved further forward than it was before; with 3D content with negative binocular disparities, viewers felt that the object seemed to be moved backwards. We found that the locational differences of the object in positive disparities were greater than those in the negative binocular disparities. The recovery rate was computed by comparing two measured values of before and after watching 3D contents for 30 minutes. On average, after 30-minute break, viewers showed roughly 50 % of recovery rate.
