Community-Based Travel Information System Using Augmented Reality

When people go to travel, sometimes one writes many articles about the destination. Existing travel information services such as Blog, Internet Cafe, and SNS are difficult to provide realistic information since the provided information may not be a place directly on the road. This paper presents a travel information system including recommended courses, theme courses, and travel map. In addition, the proposed system can provide the functions of writing, reading, and deleting a message note that stores the travel information based on the augmented reality if a defined marker among the community members is recognized in a smartphone App. Therefore, this paper can present an implementation method for new community system using augmented reality and image processing as well as providing the conventional travel information services, and allows the user to take advantage of the realistic and accurate information.
Correction of Perspective Distortion Image Using Depth Information

In this paper, we propose a method for correction of perspective distortion on a taken image. An image taken by a camera is caused perspective distortion depending on the direction of the camera when objects are projected onto the image. The proposed method in this paper is to obtain the normal vector of the plane through the depth information using a depth camera and calculate the direction of the camera based on this normal vector. Then the method corrects the perspective distortion to the view taken from the front side by performing a rotation transformation on the image according to the direction of the camera. Through the proposed method, it is possible to increase the processing speed than the conventional method such as correction of perspective distortion based on color information.
The Voxelization of Surface Objects using File handling and Parallel Processing

This paper suggests an efficient method for making the high resolution volexlized model from a polygonal surface object. A distinctive strength of the method is that a surface model, however complex one, can be transformed and formed an absolute voxelized solid model in a various resolution. It caused by producing a voxel by integrating the informations for the candidated voxels separately detected in each 3D-axial direction. This method reduces memory complexity by storing the information of voxels that is produced during the 2-phase volxelization(surface and inner voxelization) of a surface object in a binary file. For the computational efficiency, a parallel process using multi-threads is applied in the process of the inner voxelization, it also takes advantage of time complexity.

Mild Cognitive Impairment(MCI) is a prior step to Alzheimer`s Disease(AD). It is different from AD which is seriously affecting daily life. Particularly, the hippocampus could be charged a crucial function for forming memory. MCI has a high risk about progress to AD. Our investigated research for a relationship between hippocampus and AD has been studied. The measurement of hippocampus volumetric is one of the most commonly used method. The three dimensional reconstructed medical images could be passible to interpret and its examination in various aspects but the cost of brain research with the medical equipment is very high. In this study, 3D visualization was performed from a series of brain Magnetic Resonance Images(MRI) and we have designed and implemented a competitive software tool based on the open libraries of Visualization ToolKit(VTK). Consequently, our visualization software tool could be useful to various medical fields and specially prognosis and diagnosis for MCI patients.
Measurement of Blood Oxygen Saturation System and LavVIEW Program Using Broad-band Light Source

Blood oxygen saturation (
) is so important to be called bio-signal of the fifth. The measurement of blood oxygen saturation based on broad-ban light source has advantages of simple testing facility and easy understanding. This paper proposes a LabVIEW program which measures blood oxygen saturation based on broad-band light source. It combines LabVIEW and MATLAB, utilizing different light absorptions of oxyhemoglobin and deoxyhemoglobin in the visual wavelength range of 450nm-750nm to determine blood oxygen saturation. In order to improve accuracy through reducing the impact of hand shaking, the probe is fixed to the motor stage and then move a constant distance between the probe and the sample to be measured. Experimental results show that the proposed method noticeably increases the accuracy and saves time compared with the conventional methods.
Realtime Object Region Detection Robust to Vehicle Headlight

Object detection methods based on background learning are widely used in video surveillance. However, when a car runs with headlights on, these methods are likely to detect the car region and the area illuminated by the headlights as one connected change region. This paper describes a method of separating the car region from the area illuminated by the headlights. First, we detect change regions with a background learning method, and extract blobs, connected components in the detected change region. If a blob is larger than the maximum object size, we extract candidate object regions from the blob by clustering the intensity histogram of the frame difference between the mean of background images and an input image. Finally, we compute the similarity between the mean of background images and the input image within each candidate region and select a candidate region with weak similarity as an object region.
Fast Intra Mode Decision Algorithm for Depth Map Coding using Texture Information in 3D-AVC

The 3D-AVC standard aims at improving coding efficiency by applying new techniques for utilizing intra, inter and view predictions. 3D video scenes are rendered with existing texture video and additional depth map. The depth map comes at the expense of increased computational complexity of the encoding process. For real-time applications, reducing the complexity of 3D-AVC is very important. In this paper, we present a fast intra mode decision algorithm to reduce the complexity burden in the 3D video system. The proposed algorithm uses similarity between texture video and depth map. The best intra prediction mode of the depth map is similar to that of the corresponding texture video. The early decision algorithm can be made on the intra prediction of depth map coding by using the coded intra mode of texture video. Adaptive threshold for early termination is also proposed. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm saves the encoding time on average 29.7% without any significant loss in terms of the bit rate or PSNR value.
Fast Ambient Occlusion Volume Rendering using Local Statistics

This study presents a new method to improve the speed of high quality volume rendering. We improve the speed of ambient occlusion which is one of the global illumination techniques used in traditional volume visualization. Calculating ambient occlusion takes much time because it determines an illumination value of a sample by integrating opacities of nearby samples. This study proposes an improved method for this by using local statistics such as averages and standard deviations. We calculate local statistics for each volume block, a set of nearby samples, in pre-processing time. In the rendering process, we efficiently determine the illumination value by assuming the density distribution as a normal distribution. As the results, we can generate high quality images that combine ambient occlusion illumination with local illumination in real time.
Globally Optimal Solutions for Cross-Layer Design in Fast-Fading Lossy Delay-Constrained MANETs

To increase the overall utility and decrease the link delay and power consumption, a joint optimal cross-layer design of congestion control at the transport layer, link delay at the data link layer and power allocation at the physical layer for mobile ad hoc networks is considered in this paper. As opposed to previous work, the rate outage probability in this work is based on exactly closed-form; therefore, the proposed method can guarantee the globally optimal solutions to the underlying problem. The non-convex formulated problem is transformed into a convex one, which is solved by exploiting the duality technique. Finally, simulation results verify that our proposal achieves considerable benefits over the existing method.
A Study on countermeasure for privacy in mobile office

The proliferation of devices such as tablets and smart phones, which are now used by many people in their daily lives, has led to a number of companies allowing employees to bring their own devices to work due to perceived productivity gains and cost savings. However, despite many advantage, security breaches (e.g., information leakage) can happen for various reasons (e.g., loss or theft of devices, and malicious code) and privacy breaches can happen by using personal devices for business. We should carefully scrutinize security threats in this area. We present the security threats analysis and the technical approach in this area, and discuss privacy threats and countermeasures.
Large Flows Detection, Marking, and Mitigation based on sFlow Standard in SDN

Despite the fact that traffic engineering techniques have been comprehensively utilized in the past to enhance the performance of communication networks, the distinctive characteristics of Software Defined Networking (SDN) demand new traffic engineering techniques for better traffic control and management. Considering the behavior of traffic, large flows normally carry out transfers of large blocks of data and are naturally packet latency insensitive. However, small flows are often latency-sensitive. Without intelligent traffic engineering, these small flows may be blocked in the same queue behind megabytes of file transfer traffic. So it is very important to identify large flows for different applications. In the scope of this paper, we present an approach to detect large flows in real-time without even a short delay. After the detection of large flows, the next problem is how to control these large flows effectively and prevent network jam. In order to address this issue, we propose an approach in which when the controller is enabled, the large flow is mitigated the moment it hits the predefined threshold value in the control application. This real-time detection, marking, and controlling of large flows will assure an optimize usage of an overall network.
Assessing Web Browser Security Vulnerabilities with respect to CVSS

Since security vulnerabilities newly discovered in a popular Web browser immediately put a number of users at risk, urgent attention from developers is required to address those vulnerabilities. Analysis of characteristics in the Web browser vulnerabilities can be used to assess security risks and to determine the resources needed to develop patches quickly to handle vulnerabilities discovered. So far, being a new research area, the quantitative aspects of the Web browser vulnerabilities and risk assessments have not been fully investigated. However, due to the importance of Web browser software systems, further detailed studies are required related to the Web browser risk assessment, using rigorous analysis of actual data which can assist decision makers to maximize the returns on their security related efforts. In this paper, quantitative software vulnerability analysis has been presented for major Web browsers with respect to the Common Vulnerability Scoring System. Further, vulnerability discovery trends in the Web browsers are also investigated. The results show that, almost all the time, vulnerabilities are compromised from remote networks with no authentication required systems. It is also found that a vulnerability discovery model which was originally introduced for operating systems is also applicable to the Web browsers.
Oswestry Disability Analysis of Fuzzy Control Multi-cup Electric Cupping System

A multi-cup electric cupping system (MECS) was proposed, based on the ancient cupping method. MECS consisted of several cups that could be used simultaneously to treat 85 lumbago patients. Each cup was equipped with its own pump and pressure-monitoring system. The vacuum pressure of the cups was controlled using fuzzy logic. Through automated control of the vacuum pressure, long-term relief of muscle tightness was achieved. To develop a scientific foundation for this alternative treatment, we compared the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) scores from conventional basic cupping to the ODI scores for our proposed MECS. The ODI scores using MECS decreased from
before treatment to
after three and five treatments, respectively. The improvement rate in the ODI scores using MECS after three treatments was higher than that achieved by basic cupping. These results, combined with the convenience offered by enhanced information technology and fuzzy logic capabilities, should increase the efficiency of this device, and facilitate the opportunity to further explore the potential of Oriental medical practices.
A Study on the Information Security Control and Management Process in Mobile Banking Systems

According to the development of information processing technology and mobile communication technology, the utilization of mobile banking systems is drastically increasing in banking system. In the foreseeable future, it is expected to increase rapidly the demands of mobile banking in bank systems with the prevalence of smart devices and technologies. However, the keeping `security` is very important in banking systems that handles personal information and financial assets. But it is very difficult to improve the security of banking systems only with the vulnerabilities and faults analysis methods of information security. Hence, in this paper, we accomplish the analysis of security risk factor and security vulnerability that occur in mobile banking system. With analyzed results, we propose the information security control and management processes for assessing and improving security based on the mechanisms which composes mobile banking system.
Hotspot Analysis of Korean Twitter Sentiments

A hotspot is a spatial pattern that properties or events of spaces are densely revealed in a particular area. Whereas location information is easily captured with increasing use of mobile devices, so is not our emotion unless asking directly through a survey. Tweet provides a good way of analyzing such spatial sentiment, but relevant research is hard to find. Therefore, we analyzed hotspots of emotion in the twitter using spatial autocorrelation. 10,142 tweets and related GPS data were extracted. Sentiment of tweets was classified into good or bad with a support vector machine algorithm. We used Moran`s I and Getis-Ord
for global and local spatial autocorrelation. Some hotspots were found significant and drawn on Seoul metropolitan area map. These results were found very similar to an earlier conducted official survey of happiness index.
Design and Implementation of a Face Recognition System-on-a-Chip for Wearable/Mobile Applications

This paper describes the design and implementation of a System-on-a-Chip (SoC) for face recognition to use in wearable/mobile products. The design flow starts from the system specification to implementation process on silicon. The entire process is carried out using a FPGA-based prototyping platform environment for design and verification of the target SoC. To ensure that the implemented face recognition SoC satisfies the required performances metrics, time analysis and recognition tests were performed. The motivation behind the work is a single chip implementation of face recognition system for target applications.
Study on Laughter-arousing Factors of Character Designs of Kakaotalk Emoticons

The spread of smartphones enabled the two-way communication through the Internet, and character emoticons added fun and comfort to communication among users. To figure out laughter-arousing factors, a survey about emoticon designs of Kakaotalk Itemstore was conducted, targeting university students in their twenties. An interaction of `user-preferred emoticons` and `laughter-arousing emoticons` was analyzed. 90% of `user-preferred emoticons` were `humorous emoticons`, and 84% of respondents answered that there is a relationship between `user-preferred emoticons` and `laughter-arousing emoticons`. Consequently, a high interaction between the `rank of emoticons` and `laughter-arousing emoticons` was derived. Also, factors of laughter-arousing emoticons were analyzed by studying the ranks of emoticon from 1st to 8th of Kakaotalk Itemstore. Two-divisional figures reminding pure kids, maximization of emotional expression by omission or exaggeration of mouth, and smoothness by concave curves aroused laughter. Intuitively understandable gestures were employed in terms of action. Furthermore, two-divisional figures` acting with comparably small body, hands and foot to their head, and people-mimicking motions of animals with cuteness and familiarity enabled arousal of laughter. In facial expressions, humorous articulation of sad, busy or mad expression enabled positive communion among users.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been implementing the `Local Government 3D Contents Production Support Project` since 2010 to foster the 3D contents industry and secure high-quality 3D contents of local governments. This is part of national support for securing 3D media contents of local governments. In particular, stereo-scopic 3D animation is in the spotlight as media contents appropriate for simultaneous implementation of pleasure of narrative and high-level of presence to promote tourism resources of local governments. But existing stereo-scopic 3D animation-related studies are mostly concentrated in three dimensional effect expression for particular scenes or theater. Therefore, this study extracted elements required for storytelling planning by analyzing production cases of stereo-scopic 3D animation using tourism resources of local governments which have been recognized for a high quality of work.
Analysis on the Backgrounds Expression for 3D Animation

This article analyzes the background representation of 3D animation and look at what its proper background expression. With the development of computer graphics technology, the background of the 3D animations can be expressed as The actual background. In contrast, "The Smurfs" which was released recently was created to take the actual background. However, 3D animation with real background is not appropriate in terms of creative expression space in the main role of the animation. In this Study, we analyze the character and background of the animation made in 3D graphics. Based on this, we propose a correct representation of 3D animation background.
Application Possibility of Parallax Scrolling Technique for Website Users` Emotional Experience

Recently, to draw the web users` attention and stay in the website for a long time to transmit information efficiently, the website designing is focused on providing emotional experience. Emotional experience is possible through the use of interactive storytelling and multimedia. Users immersion, pleasurable experience and synesthesia satisfaction is connected to the emotional experience due to the interaction operation and multimedia feedback. In this study, application of the parallax scrolling technique`s possibility has been studied to induce the emotional experience of the web users that appeared in the technical development of the web. Realizing characteristics of the elements that effect emotional experience through web cases are studied and the possibility of effective emotional experience is proposed as using parallax scrolling technique on web.
