Image-based Subway Security System by Histogram Projection Technology

A railway security detection system is very important. There are many safety factors that directly affect the safe operation of trains. Security detection technology can be divided into passive and active approaches. In this paper, we will first survey the railway security systems and compare them. We will also propose a subway security detection system with computer vision technology, which can detect three kinds of problems: the spark problem, the obstacle problem, and the lost screw problem. The spark and obstacle detection methods are unique in our system. In our experiment using about 900 input test images, we obtained about a 99.8% performance in F- measure for the spark detection problem, and about 94.7% for the obstacle detection problem.
Vector Map Data compression based on Douglas Peucker Simplification Algorithm and Bin Classification

Vector data represents a map by its coordinate and Raster data represents a map by its pixel. Since these data types have very large data size, data compression procedure is a compulsory process. This paper compare the results from three different methodologies; GIS (Geographic Information System) vector map data compression using DP(Douglas-Peucker) Simplification algorithm, vector data compression based on Bin classification and the combination between two previous methods. The results shows that the combination between the two methods have the best performance among the three tested methods. The proposed method can achieve 4-9% compression ratio while the other methods show a lower performance.
Self-Reference PCSR-G Method for Detecting Defect of Flat Panel Display

In this paper a new defect detection method for flat panel display that does not require any separately prepared reference images and shows robustness against problems with regard to pixel tolerance and nonuniform illumination condition is proposed. In order to perform defect detection under any magnification value of camera, the proposed method automatically obtains the value of pattern interval through an image analysis. Using the information for pattern interval, an advanced PCSR-G method presented in this paper utilizes neighboring patterns as its reference images instead of utilizing any separately prepared reference images. Also this paper proposes a scheme to improve the performance of the conventional PCSR-G method by extracting and applying additional information for pixel tolerance and intensity distribution considering the value of pattern interval. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed method utilizing pixel tolerance and intensity distribution is superior to that of the conventional method. Also, it is proved that the proposed method that is implemented using parallel technique based on GPGPU can be applied to real system.
Microphone Type Classification for Digital Audio Forgery Detection

In this paper we applied pattern recognition approach to detect audio forgery. Classification of the microphone types and models can help determining the authenticity of the recordings. Canonical correlation analysis was applied to extract feature for microphone classification. We utilized the linear dependence between two near-silence regions. To utilize the advantage of multi-feature based canonical correlation analysis, we selected three commonly used features to capture the temporal and spectral characteristics. Using three different microphones, we tested the usefulness of multi-feature based characteristics of canonical correlation analysis and compared the results with single feature based method. The performance of classification rate was carried out using the backpropagation neural network. Experimental results show the promise of canonical correlation features for microphone classification.
An EEG Encryption Scheme for Authentication System based on Brain Wave

Gradually increasing the value of the technology, the techniques of the various security systems to protect the core technology have been developed. The proposed security scheme, which uses both a Password and the various devices, is always open by malicious user. In order to solve that problem, the biometric authentication systems are introduced but they have a problem which is the secondary damage to the user. So, the authentication methods using EEG(Electroencephalography) signals were developed. However, the size of EEG signals is big and it cause a lot of problems for the real-time authentication. And the encryption method is necessary. In this paper, we proposed an efficient real-time authentication system applied encryption scheme with junk data using chaos map on the EEG signals.
Robust Real-time Night Visibility Enhancement for Environmental Change using Haze Removal Method

In this paper, we propose improved night visibility enhancement algorithm based on haze removal method. The proposed method uses new haze removal method in place of the conventional methods. Our night visibility enhancement method is very good and faster than traditional methods. This method also uses additionally local histogram equalization for sharpening the enhanced image. Our method can be applied to any application that uses a visible light camera, and it is appropriate to apply a black box, vehicle camera, and cell phone camera, since it is possible that real-time processing.
An Image-based Color Appearance Analysis of Makeup and Image Synthesis based on Kubelka-Munk Model

Simulating color appearance of makeup effect is an important issue in computer graphics as well as cosmetic industry. Most of previous works on makeup simulation are simple color blending to mimic the cosmetic effects. Some of previous works employed Kubelka-Munk model to accurately simulate the layering effect of cosmetics. However, the simulation limited on single point, and the rest of area are still computed by simple color blending utilizing the color of the single point simulation. This paper presents an image-based method to compute the color appearance effect of makeup application using per-pixel Kubelka-Munk model. Unlike the previous methods, it is possible to compute per-pixel application thickness as well as optical property of cosmetics. The computed thickness pattern can be used in makeup simulation for a more realistic makeup simulation.
An Intelligent Fire Leaning and Detection System

In this paper, we propose intelligent fire learning and detection system using hybrid visual attention mechanism of human. Proposed fire learning system generates leaned data by learning process of fire and smoke images. The features used as learning feature are selected among many features which are extracted based on bottom-up visual attention mechanism of human, and these features are modified as learned data by calculating average and standard variation of them. Proposed fire detection system uses learned data which is generated in fire learning system and features of input image to detect fire.
Virtual Keyboard against Social Engineering Attacks in Smartphones

Nowaday, financial institutions provide secure mobile keyboard solutions to keep their mobile banking services safe. However, these are still vulnerable to attacks, such as shoulder surfing attack. Especially, in the case of handicapped person such as visual impairment and blindness, they are more vulnerable than ordinary person because of inconvenience of secure information input. Among them, we focused on the color blind. For the color blind, 4-color based secure keyboard method causes more inconvenience to notify exact color. Thus, we propose a secure mobile keyboard solution to provide advanced functionality for the color blind users. Our method is based on 4-color theorem to support color blind users. In addition, our scheme is robust against shoulder surfing attack. According to the evaluation result, our method offers increased security against shoulder surfing attack compare with existing methods.
An Authoring Framework for Emotion-Aware User Interface of Mobile Applications

Since affective computing has been introduced in 90s, affect recognition technology has achieved substantial progress recently. However, the application of user emotion recognition into software user interface is in its early stages. In this paper, we describe a new approach for developing mobile user interface which could react differently depending on user emotion states. First, an emotion reaction model is presented which determines user interface reactions for each emotional state. We introduce a pair of mappings from user states to different user interface versions. The reacting versions are implemented by a set of variations for a view. Further, we present an authoring framework to help developers/designers to create emotion-aware reactions based on the proposed emotion reaction model. The authoring framework is necessary to alleviate the burden of creating and handling multi versions for views at the development process. A prototype implementation is presented as an extension of the existing authoring tool DAT4UX. Moreover, a proof-of-concept application featuring an emotion-aware interface is developed using the tool.
Fuzzy Logic Based Auto Navigation System Using Dual Rule Evaluation Structure for Improving Driving Ability of a Mobile Robot

A fuzzy logic based mobile robot navigation system was developed to improve the driving ability without trapping inside obstacles in complex terrains, which is one of the most concerns in robot navigation in unknown terrains. The navigation system utilizes the data from ultrasonic sensors to recognize the distances from obstacles and the position information from a GPS sensor. The fuzzy navigation system has two groups of behavior rules, and the robot chooses one of them based on the information from sensors while navigating for the targets. In plain terrains the robot with the proposed algorithm uses one rule group consisting of behavior rules for avoiding obstacle, target steering, and following edge of obstacle. Once trap is detected the robot uses the other rule group consisting of behavior rules strengthened for following edge of obstacle. The output signals from navigation system control the speed of two wheels of the robot through the fuzzy logic data process. The test was conducted in the Matlab based mobile robot simulator developed in this study, and the results show that escaping ability from obstacle is improved.
Study on Elimination of EMI in ELF-Band for EPS-Based Smart TV Control

In this paper, we propose the method to eliminate EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference) in ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) band below 2 KHz for extending the gesture-recognition distance of smart TVs to more than 3m using electric potential sensor. First, we measure the electric field generated from the back panel of a TV and propose the effective arrangement of two sets of differential sensors as well as the shielding method using metal fiber. Also, we eliminate the PLN (Power Line Noise) and other noise generated from the TV and sensors as well as surrounding environments using filters. Using the proposed EMI eliminating methods, we evaluate displacement ratio on measured signals according to distance between sensors and a moving hand. Experiment results show that our proposed method can extend the hand-gesture sensing distance using EPS (Electric Potential Sensor) up to more than 3m, which is enough to satisfy applicability of EPS based remote control to Smart TVs.
Research and Design of Smart Phone Sensor-based Context-aware System

This paper describes the design and implementation of situation recognition system with smart phone sensors, which recognizes the dangerous situation at anytime, anywhere through intuitive data analysis of the combination of the sensor. The implemented system consists of wearable heart rate sensor and acceleration sensor of smart phone instead of existing sensor that is attached to the body. It is also designed to get more effective results of recognition about the dangerous situation using merged displacement values of acceleration sensor and heart rate sensor which are measured in the process of recognizing dangerous situations. This research, in accordance with the wide penetration of smartphones, achieves the fast status determination through the combination of an acceleration sensor and a heart rate sensor applied to its own status perception algorithm for anyone who needs the stable perception of risk without the need for a separate provision of the sensor.
Transformation of Genre Convention in Cinematic Content Regarding Narrative and Characters of Stone

Stone is a hybrid genre movie in which two different film genres coexist; one is a gangster movie, the other Baduk movie. This film deals with a relationship between an old gangster boss and a young Baduk player. The coexistence of two different worlds becomes a reason for a unique ambiance of this film, because Stone is dynamic and brutal as much as static and meditative. Firstly, this article aims to analyze the narrative structure and characters of this film comparing with conventions of gangster movie genre, especially 'jopok film' of Korean cinema. Secondly, we examine characters of this film and their relationship. Since the economic crisis under the IMF structure, a great part of korean gangster movie has represented the weakness of the fatherhood and the disorganization of family. However, in Stone, the friendship between two heroes, Namhae and Minsu, turns to a father-son relationship. In this way, Stone transformed conventions of film genre.
Analysis of Narrative for Mobile e-book Applications with Haeinsa Buddhist Tales

This study describes the humanistic perspective inherent in Korean Buddhism. It is based on a narrative of the establishment of Haeinsa Temple, which is one of the three major Korean traditional temples, and represents the heritage of Korean Buddhism. With this narrative, we developed and implemented mobile content for Android devices titled "Treasures from the Palace of the Dragon King". Its scenario, which is a folktale of the establishment of the Haeinsa Temple, was created using A.J. Greimas' Actantial model as the research method. As a result, the content developed by the reconstruction of the scenario consists of mini-games and animations offering an intuitive user experience (UX), which is implemented in a compound E-BOOK for mobile devices. We aim to promote Korea's traditional culture throughout the world, using this content as a starting point for the future.
