A Novel Filter ed Bi-Histogram Equalization Method
Sengee, Nyamlkhagva ; Choi, Heung-Kook ;
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 18, issue 6, 2015, Pages 691~700
DOI : 10.9717/kmms.2015.18.6.691
Here, we present a new framework for histogram equalization in which both local and global contrasts are enhanced using neighborhood metrics. When checking neighborhood information, filters can simultaneously improve image quality. Filters are chosen depending on image properties, such as noise removal and smoothing. Our experimental results confirmed that this does not increase the computational cost because the filtering process is done by our proposed arrangement of making the histogram while checking neighborhood metrics simultaneously. If the two methods, i.e., histogram equalization and filtering, are performed sequentially, the first method uses the original image data and next method uses the data altered by the first. With combined histogram equalization and filtering, the original data can be used for both methods. The proposed method is fully automated and any spatial neighborhood filter type and size can be used. Our experiments confirmed that the proposed method is more effective than other similar techniques reported previously.

Image stitching method is a technique for obtaining an high-resolution image by combining two or more images. In X-ray image for clinical diagnosis, the size of the imaging region taken by one shot is limited due to the field-of-view of the equipment. Therefore, in order to obtain a high-resolution image including large regions such as a whole body, the synthesis of multiple X-ray images is required. In this paper, we propose a rapid stitching method of digital X-ray images using template-based registration. The proposed algorithm use principal component analysis(PCA) and k-nearest neighborhood(k-NN) to determine the location of input images before performing a template-based matching. After detecting the overlapping position using template-based matching, we synthesize input images by alpha blending. To improve the computational efficiency, reduced images are used for PCA and k-NN analysis. Experimental results showed that our method was more accurate comparing with the previous method with the improvement of the registration speed. Our stitching method could be usefully applied into the stitching of 2D or 3D multiple images.
Anti-Counterfeiting Mechanism Based on RFID Tag Ownership Transfer Protocol

Counterfeit products have been a major concern in global market. With the emergence of RFID systems, to detect counterfeit products in supply chain is relatively easy. Many anti-counterfeiting techniques for products attached by RFID tag are proposed. Most of the previous anti-counterfeiting techniques are not considering the distribution of the counterfeit from a customer to a customer. Using the ownership transfer protocols we can prevent the counterfeit from being distributed on the supply chain as well as between the customers and the customers. The ownership transfer protocols must be modified for anti-counterfeiting because of the usage of the protocol. In this paper, we modify the ownership transfer protocol proposed by G. Kapoor and S. Piramuthu
to be able to detect the counterfeit and track and trace the products in the supply chain. Our proposed protocol consists of three phases: the products delivery phase, the products takeover phase, and the products sale phase. We show that our protocol is anti-counterfeiting as well as secure against the security attacks.

High availability is of utmost importance in real-time embedded systems. Temporary failures due to software or hardware faults should not result in a system crash. To achieve high availability, embedded systems typically use a combination of hardware and software techniques. A watchdog timer is a hardware component in embedded microprocessors that can be used to automatically reset the processor if software anomalies are detected. The embedded system relies on a single watchdog timer, however, can be permanently disabled if the timer is not properly configured, e.g. falling into an indefinite loop. STM32F4 provides two different types of watchdog timer in terms of timing accuracy and robustness. In this paper, we propose a hybrid approach, called long-tail watchdog timer, to utilize both timers to achieve self-reliance in embedded systems even though one of timers fails. Experimental results confirm that the proposed approach successfully handles various failure scenarios and present performance comparisons between single watchdog timer and hybrid approach in terms of configuration parameters of watchdog timers in STM32F4, counter value and window size.

Coating is a type of paint. It protects a product forming a film layer on the product and assigns various properties to the product. Coating is one of the fields which is being studied actively in the polymer industry. Importance of coating in various industries is more increased. However, mixing process has been performing in dependence on operator's experience. In this paper, we found the relationship between each data from coating formulation process. We propose a framework to analyze the coating formulation process as well. It can improve the coating formulation process. In particular, the suggested framework may reduce degradation and loss costs due to absence of standard data which is accurate formulation criteria. Also it suggests responses to errors which can be occurred in the future through the analysis of the error data generated in mixing step.

The communications through the power lines are called as the PLC and this is a common name for the communication modes for the information delivery. This technology transmits the data through the power lines on which the information is stored with the form of high frequency signal. The characteristic of the frequency signal is that the signal can be separated from the power line through exclusive power line modem and transmitted to the terminal devices. In this paper, 'In-home Headcount' checking algorithm using Wi-Fi and taking above mentioned advantages is proposed, and the basic Technology for such Solitary Senior Citizen's Lonely Death monitoring system has been designed and implemented. The comparative analysis has been conducted in this paper with the test-operated and test bed-completed 'Hyosimi 119 Safety-Welfare System' which is still being tested since 2008. With the 'In-home Headcount Checking Algorithm', Wi-Fi connection/disconnection status and SSIDs of relevant Wi-Fis will be checked. We expect that our proposed method will become as the basic Technology which can prevent lonely deaths of elderly people living alone. Since the PLC technology can be normally implement all the functions used on internet anticipate that the technology could be applied to many areas to construct a new form of communication network.

As the computer graphic technology has developed rapidly, the management of visual effects production has also changed. However, the insufficient rest and the inefficiency of communication have resulted in more pressure which would weaken the strength of the whole team. For searching the possible solution, this research has applied the SCRUM in VFX production and analyzed the impact of SCRUM for VFX project management. SCRUM was first used in the projects of software development, but now there are already many successful examples of introducing SCRUM into their facilities in various fields. This paper has used SCRUM in the experimental group and present methodology in VFX project management in the control group for the same project. Based on the analysis of the questionnaire investigation from both group with using t-test for data analysis, it has confirmed the credibility of the questions in the questionnaire index as α > 0.72. With the result of analysis based on the corresponding samples of the t-test, it shows the diversity of SCRUM for project management, and the convenience of communication within the team can enhance the team strength. Follow-up research will attend to provide more suggestions for applying SCRUM in other areas in project management.

The kinetic typography animates the static text and it will enable the delivery the opinion and emotion, but we should use professional software or do complex coding precess to create a motion into an existing static text. In this paper, we propose the primitive motion API which is the way to configure the kinetic typography easily by adding a motion into the static text. In the pursuit of this purpose, we analyzed the movement of the text, defined the underlying levels of the movement and designed the primitive motion API to express the kinetic typography promptly. Furthermore, we verified the performance of the primitive motion API by testing the usability. Using the primitive motion API to implement the kinetic typography explicitly might substitute for tedious coding process and usage of the existing professional software so it makes anyone be able to apply the kinetic typography in a variety of applications.
