Developing a B2B Integration System based on XML Database System
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 1~14
E-commerce requires many different types of communications and an unprecedented amount of data changes hands. The many different Platforms and systems interacting require a platform neutral standard for data exchange. One of the technologies that can fill this niche is XML, the extensible markup language established as a standard by the W3C. By being standardized and platform neutral, XML to be factor in e-commerce application and using many systems In this paper, we designed XML document that is used in transaction between corporations, and implement the B2B integration system based on XML database system. Also we use XSLT that make efficient transformation XML documents for exchanging heterogeneous XML data between corporations. So, he or she can more easily and efficiently exchange XML documents between corporations using this system.
The Mapping Method by Equation for Adding Disks for Striping System
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 15~27
Recently, the volume of data is increasing rapidly in server for multimedia service, according to development of multimedia application environment. In recent research for storage technology the technology like of the SAN(Storage Area Network) advantages in scalibility of storage devices, and can read data from multiple disk arrays through RAID 0, 5. The RAID 0 and 5 translate to logical address to physical address using equation, but in case of adding disks at the system with equation -based mapping, the problem that we must rearrange the whole data in the previous disks happens. We use the mapping table to solve this problem in recent, but we can not load the whole mapping table in main memory because it occupies too large space. Therefore the extra I/Os are demanded to evaluate real physical address of data, so total performance of the system is degraded. In this paper, we propose the mapping method that supports the scalibility in RAID 0 or 5 system. The proposing method applies small metadata, so- called SZIT and simple equation, so it is possible that we make translate logical address to physical address rapidly and it is scalable in disk extending simultaneously Our suggesting method, if we add disks to the striping system for expanding of storage capacity, has an advantage of never stop service. So, SZlT-based mapping method can do online-disk-expanding in real-time service.
Compression of Multispectral Images
Enrico Piazza ;
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 28~39
This paper is an overview of research contributions by the authors to the use of compression techniques to handle high resolution, multi-spectral images. Originally developed in the remote sensing context, the same techniques are here applied to food and medical images. The objective is to point out the potential of this kind of processing in different contexts such as remote sensing, food monitoring, and medical imaging and to stimulate new research exploitations. Compression is based on the simple assumption that it is possible to find out a relationship between pixels close one each other in multi-spectral images it translates to the possibility to say that there is a certain degree of correlation within pixels belonging to the same band in a close neighbourhood. Once found a correlation based on certain coefficient on one band, the coefficients of this relationship are, in turn, quite probably, similar to the ones calculated in one of the other bands. Based upon this second observation, an algorithm was developed, able to reduce the number of bit/pixel from 16 to 4 in satellite remote sensed multi-spectral images. A comparison is carried out between different methods about their speed and compression ratio. As reference it was taken the behaviour of three common algorithms, LZW (Lempel-Ziv-Welch), Huffman and RLE (Run Length Encoding), as they are used in common graphic format such as GIF, JPEG and PCX. The Presented methods have similar results in both speed and compression ratio to the commonly used programs and are to be preferred when the decompression must be carried out on line, inside a main program or when there is the need of a custom made compression algorithm.
Half-pel Accuracy Motion Estimation Algorithm using Selective Interpolation in the Wavelet Domain
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 40~47
In this paper, we propose a new method for reducing the computational overhead of fine-to-coarse multi-resolution motion estimation (MRME) at the finest resolution level by searching for the region to consider motion vectors of the coarsest resolution subband. At this time, if half-pel accuracy motion estimation (HPAME) is used in the baseband where influence a lot of effect to the reconstructed image, we can have the motion vector exactly But, this method causes to higher computational overhead. So we suggest the method to the computational overhead by using selective interpolation. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm gives better results than the traditional algorithms from image quality.
An EMG Signals Classification using Hybrid HMM and MLP Classifier with Genetic Algorithms
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 48~57
This paper describes an approach for classifying myoelectric patterns using a multilayer perceptrons (MLP's) with genetic algorithm and hidden Markov models (HMM's) hybrid classifier. Genetic Algorithms play a role of selecting Multilayer Perceptron's optimized initial connection weights by its typical global search. The dynamic aspects of EMG are important for tasks such as continuous prosthetic control or various time length EMG signal recognition, which have not been successfully mastered by the most neural approaches. It is known that the hidden Markov model (HMM) is suitable for modeling temporal patterns. In contrast, the multilayer feedforward networks are suitable for static patterns. And, a lot of investigators have shown that the HMM's to be an excellent tool for handling the dynamical problems. Considering these facts, we suggest the combination of ANN and HMM algorithms that might lead to further improved EMG recognition systems.
Image Compression using the Multiwavelet Filter Bank of EZW Structure
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 58~66
In this paper. an image compression of embedded zerotree structure using multiwavelet filter banks is proposed. Multiwavelet is used DGHM(Donovan, Geronimo, Hardin, and Massopust) scaling functions and wavelet functions of a new method with two channel fillet banks. The important properties of the DGHM multiwavelet are orthogonality and approximation order. The DCHM muitiwavelet using the this paper preserves the approximation order=2 for better energy compaction and perfect reconstruction. Image compression using the preposed DGHM multiwavelet is better PSNR for compression ratio than single Daubechies wavelet(D4), Biorthogoanl wavelet, and GHM(Geronimo, Hardin, and Massopust) multi wavelet.
Highly Reliable Watermark Detection Algorithm using Statistical Decision Method in Wavelet Domain
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 67~77
Watermark detection has a crucial role in copyright protection and authentication for multimedia Because be the correlation -based algorithm which has widely been used in the watermark detection doesn't utilize the distributional characteristics of cover image to be marked, its performance is not optimum. So a new detection algorithm is proposed which is optimum for multiplicative watermark embedding. By relying on statistical decision method, the proposed method is derived according to the Bayes decision theory. Neyman Pearson criterion, and distribution of wavelet coefficients, thus Permitting to minimize the missed detection probability subject to a given false detection probability The superiority of the proposed method has been tested from a robustness perspective. The results confirm the superiority of the proposed technique over classical correlation -based method.
Adaptive Error Concealment Technique using a Variable Operating Region Algorithm based on MPEG-4 Coding
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 78~88
A novel adaptive error concealment technique is proposed using a variable operating region algorithm based on MPEG-4 coding. In the algorithm, a missing block is classified as flat or edge block based on local information from the surrounding blocks extracted using a Sobel operation in a variable operating region (VOR). In this case, the VOR is determined adaptively according to the number of edge directions in the missing block. 1;sing the classification, the flat blocks are then concealed by the Proposed mean based weighted bilinear interpolation (MWBLI) method, and the edge blocks by the boundary directional interpolation (BDI) method. Consequently, the use of the Proposed VOR improves the subjective performance in a curved edge region, while the adaptive processing based on block classification improves the objective performance. Experimental results confirmed that the proposed algorithm produced better results than conventional algorithms, both subjectively and objectively.

Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 105~113
In CDMA cellular system, inefficient Channel assignment for high-speed mobile host increase call blocking probability For it has been method proposed to guarantee QoS upon tn the speed of hierarchical cell that is allocated Queues and dedicated channels of high speed mobile host's speed. In this paper, We allocated the dedicated channel of high-speed handoff In FA (Foreign Agent), only if the receive signal strength of mobile host in current cell that there is low traffic in HA (Home Agent). also, we created new Circular queue LiFA (Limited Foreign Agent) for high-speed handoff call that signal strength is weak in certain FA, and had this High-speed handoff call to be ready for Life time to the new Circular queue LiFA. Thus improve the rate of the forced call termination.
Blind Adaptive Channel Estimation using Multichannel Linear Prediction
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 114~120
Blind channel estimation of communication channels is a problem of important current theoretical concerns. Recently proposed solutions for this problem exploit the diversity induced by antenna array or time oversampling, leading to the so-called, second order statistics techniques. This paper proposes the blind adaptive channel estimation using multichannel linear prediction method. Computer simulations are presented to compare the proposed algorithm with the existing ones.
Load Balanced QoS Routing for Precomputation of QoS Routes
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 121~127
In this paper, we propose a load balancing QoS routing on a targe scale network. We use the scheme in which it calculates the cost of resources with a precomputation and then selects a path among multiple paths based on the calculated cost for each resources. We also use the QoS routing scheme for the transit and the intra-traffic on a large scale domain-based network. For a domain in networks, this routing scheme precomputes K multiple paths between all pairs made up with each ingress and egress border routers along with the consideration of a load balancing, and then picks up paths having the high probability on the Path selection. This routing scheme can be applied for the transit traffic and the intra traffic and combines the Inter-domain and intra-domain routings seamlessly and put a high priority on the transit traffic Thus, these schemes make Possible both the global use of network resources and the load balancing.
A Selective Control Mechanism for Fairness of DQDB in Client-Server Traffic
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 128~135
A fairness control method for Distributed-Queue Dual-Bus(DQDB) has been studied under specific traffic types such as equal probability traffic, symmetric traffic and asymmetric traffic. To distribute DQDB network bandwidth fairly to all stations under general traffic such as a client-server traffic that differs from specific traffic types, we propose an effective fairness control method. Based on an access limit, the proposed mechanism applies two bandwidth control mechanisms to DQDB networks. One is the mechanism that is called APS(Access Protection Scheme) for servers. And another is the mechanism that controls the allocation of bandwidth only using an access limit lot clients. Simulation results show that it outperforms other mechanisms.
An Optimization Method of Neural Networks using Adaptive Regulraization, Pruning, and BIC
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 136~147
To achieve an optimal performance for a given problem, we need an integrative process of the parameter optimization via learning and the structure optimization via model selection. In this paper, we propose an efficient optimization method for improving generalization performance by considering the property of each sub-method and by combining them with common theoretical properties. First, weight parameters are optimized by natural gradient teaming with adaptive regularization, which uses a diverse error function. Second, the network structure is optimized by eliminating unnecessary parameters with natural pruning. Through iterating these processes, candidate models are constructed and evaluated based on the Bayesian Information Criterion so that an optimal one is finally selected. Through computational experiments on benchmark problems, we confirm the weight parameter and structure optimization performance of the proposed method.
Implementation of Medical Information System for Korean by Tissue Mineral Analysis
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 148~160
TMA(Tissue Mineral Analysis) is very popular method in hair mineral analysis for health care professionals in over 48 countries medical center. Assesment of nutritional minerals and toxic elements in the hair is very important not only for determining adequacy, deficiencies and unbalance, but also for assessing their relative relationships in a body. In Korea, there are some problems in TMA method. Because of not haying a medical information database which is suitable for korean to do analyze, the requested TMA has to send to TEI-USA. However, as the TMA results from TEI-USA is composed of English documents and graphic files prohibited to open, its usability is very low and a lot of dollars has to be payed. Also, it can make some problems in the reliability of the TMA results, since the TMA results are based on the database of western health and mineral standards, To solve these problems, I developed the first Medical Information System of TMA in Korea here. The system can analyze the complex tissue mineral data with multiple stage decision tree classifier. It is also constructed with multiple fuzzy database and hence analyze the TMA data by fuzzy inference methods. The effectiveness test of this systems can be shown the increased business efficiency and satisfaction rate 86% and 92% respectively.

Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 167~175
In this paper, a new electrode configuration and EOG removal method are proposed in order to measure EEG effectively on the frontal lobe and remove EOG in the measured raw EEG. The method of measuring EEG is proposed using four electrodes and a ground electrode on the frontal lobe with a reference electrode at the left earlobe. And also, the separation method using ICA is proposed for EOG removal from the measured EEG, Through the experiments of measuring EEG it was demonstrated that a subject can attach the electrodes by himself easily to measure his own EEG without any assistant and the proposed methods were suitable for removing EOG signal from the measured EEG.
Utilization of the Route Table for the Agent's Move in the 3D Game Map
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 6, issue 1, 2003, Pages 176~182
The use of the A* for the path search of the agent in the game map gives the computational overhead in real time game processing. To solve this problem, the route table was presented for the 2D game This route table is made in the game development phase and utilized in game playing. The route table designed for 2D game is extended for 3D game in this paper. But the memory space is required too much. This Problem can also be solved using the data compression by skipping the duplicated route table.
