VA-Tree : An Efficient Multi-Dimensional Index Structure for Large Data Set

In this paper, we propose a multi-dimensional index structure, tailed a VA(Vector Approximate)-tree that is constructed with vector approximates of multi-dimensional feature vectors. To save storage space for index structures, the VA-tree employs vector approximation concepts of VA-file that presents feature vectors with much smaller number of bits than original value. Since the VA-tree is a tree structure, it does not suffer from performance degradation owing to the increase of data. Also, even though the VA-tree is MBR(Minimum Bounding Region) based tree structure like a R-tree, its split algorithm never allows overlap between MBRs. We show through various experiments that our proposed VA-tree is a suitable index structure for large amount of multi-dimensional data.
A Striping Technique for Multi-Resolution of the MPEG-1 Video Stream

We present a striping technique that MPEG-1 video streams ell a disk array can be efficiently played back at different resolution levels. For the MPEG-1 compression algorithm, the proposed multi-level encoding technique first partitions the parent video stream in the temporal dimension. Each frame in the sub-stream is then Partitioned in the chroma dimension yielding a low resolution and a residual component. The multimedia server stores blocks of different components on consecutive disks in a round robin manner. As a result, the lower the resolution level being maintained, the smaller is the number of disks accessed by each client. To effectively utilize a disk array and to maximize the number of clients that can be serviced simultaneously, the proposed technique interleaves the storage of the component of sub-streams among the disks in the array We empirically validate and evaluate this striping technique through simulation in order to show the improvement of its performance on the server.
An Intrusion Detection System using Time Delay Neural Networks

Intrusion detection systems based on rules are not efficient for mutated attacks, because they need additional rules for the variations. In this paper, we propose an intrusion detection system using the time delay neural network. Packets on the network can be considered as gray images of which pixels represent bytes of them. Using this continuous packet images, we construct a neural network classifier that discriminates between normal and abnormal packet flows. The system deals well with various mutated attacks, as well as well known attacks.
Performance and Root Mean Squared Error of Kernel Relaxation by the Dynamic Change of the Moment

This paper proposes using dynamic momentum for squential learning method. Using The dynamic momentum improves convergence speed and performance by the variable momentum, also can identify it in the RMSE(root mean squared error). The proposed method is reflected using variable momentum according to current state. While static momentum is equally influenced on the whole, dynamic momentum algorithm can control the convergence rate and performance. According to the variable change of momentum by training. Unlike former classification and regression problems, this paper confirms both performance and regression rate of the dynamic momentum. Using RMSE(root mean square error ), which is one of the regression methods. The proposed dynamic momentum has been applied to the kernel adatron and kernel relaxation as the new sequential learning method of support vector machine presented recently. In order to show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm, SONAR data, the neural network classifier standard evaluation data, are used. The simulation result using the dynamic momentum has a better convergence rate, performance and RMSE than those using the static moment, respectively.
Scene Change Detection and Representative Frame Extraction Algorithm for Video Abstract on MPEG Video Sequence

Scene change detection algorithm, which is very important preprocessing technique for video indexing and retrieval and determines the performance of video database system, is being studied widely. In this paper, we propose a more effective abrupt scene change detection, which is robust to large motion, sudden change of light and successive abrupt shot transitions rapidly. And we also propose a new gradual scene change detection algorithm, which can detect dissolve, and fade in/out precisely. Furthermore, we also propose a representative frame extraction algorithm which performs content-based video summary by novel DCT DC image buffering technique and accumulative histogram intersection measure (AHIM).
A New Document Codec System based on Wavelet Lifting and Bitplane Coding

In this paper, we present the development of document compression codec using segmentation, wavelet lifting and bitplane coding. We use the segmentation to preserve the text appearance. We performed integer-to-integer wavelet lifting and also performed bitplane subblock coding for document compression. We acquired a high compression ratio and an efficient compression by encoding only the significant subblocks in the bitplane subblock coding. We also implemented scalar quantization by subband-oriented bit shifting. The system performs color conversion and downsampling before wavelet lifting and also performs graycode conversion and quantization before subblock coding. In the experiment, we show the performances of the system by presenting the high compression ratios and high PSNR values.
A Blind Audio Watermarking using the Tonal Characteristic

In this paper, we propose a blind audio watermarking using the tonal characteristic. First, we explain the perceptional effect of tonal on the existed researches and shout the experimental result that tonal characteristic is more stable than other characteristics used in previous watermarking studies against several signal processing. On the base of the result, we propose the blind audio watermarking using the relation among the signals on the frequency domain which compose a tonal masker. To evaluate the sound quality of our watermarked audios, we used the SDG(Subjective Diff-Grades) and got the average SDG 0.27. This result says the watermarking using the perceptional effect of tonal is available from the viewpoint of non-perception. And we detected the watermark hits from the watermarked audios which were changed by several signal processing and the detection ratios with exception of the time shift processing were over 98%. About the time shift processing, we applied the new method that searched the most proper position on the time domain and then detected the watermark bits by the ratio of 90%.
OHC Algorithm for RPA Memory Based Reasoning

RPA (Recursive Partition Averaging) method was proposed in order to improve the storage requirement and classification rate of the Memory Based Reasoning. That algorithm worked well in many areas, however, the major drawbacks of RPA are it's pattern averaging mechanism. We propose an adaptive OHC algorithm which uses the FPD(Feature-based Population Densimeter) to increase the classification rate of RPA. The proposed algorithm required only approximately 40% of memory space that is needed in k-NN classifier, and showed a superior classification performance to the RPA. Also, by reducing the number of stored patterns, it showed a excellent results in terms of classification when we compare it to the k-NN.
WATM MAC Protocol using Adaptive Request Mini-slots

In wireless ATM network, Mobile terminals must offer function and QoS such as terminal of wire ATM network. The fast notification of BS (Base Station) scheduler about ATM cells arriving in mobile terminals is a critical item of the ATM-based centrally controlled MAC protocol. But, Collision is arisen at process that several mobile terminals require data transmission by contention method through uplink and because of re-transmission by collision, throughput of decrease and transmission delay increases. In this paper, We propose the MAC protocol that decide optimized request mini-slot's number considering number of request terminal predicted as statistical and its posterior throughput. According to simulation result, could know that proposed protocol shows high performance delay and throughput.
A Buffer Management Scheme for Throughput and Fairness Improvement in ATM Networks

The Guaranteed Frame Rate(GFR) service has been designed to accomodate non-real-time applications, such as TCP/IP based traffic in ATM networks. One of the important factors is buffer management for guaranteeing QoS in GFR service. In this paper, we propose a buffer management scheme which can improve the fairness and the throughput through the traffic control in GFR service. For the evaluation of the proposed scheme, we compare proposed scheme with the existing scheme in the fairness and the throughput. Simulation results show that proposed scheme can improve the fairness and throughput than the existing scheme.
Implementation of Offline Payment Solution using USIM in IMT-2000

As mobile device is becoming more popular, E-Commerce changes into M-Commerce. Especially, IMT-2000 (International Mobile Telecommunication 2000) service is prepared for M-Commerce and this has USIM (Universal Subscriber Identity Module) as a core of certification of individuality and transactions. As a result, the area of mobile service going to expand by USIM. But, mobile services using USIM leave much to be desired, and developed application don't variety. In this paper, for the efficient design of USIM, the structure of USIM and protocol is analyzed, and secure payment solution in USIM is proposed. Specially, offline payment system is proposed for the verification of proposed protocols including security, saving, and calculation of balance. finally, the simulation of proposed payment system on USIM is performed using Java Card.
Digital Image Watermarking Technique Using HVS and Adaptive Scale Factor Based on the Wavelet Transform

The rapid growth of multimedia network systems has caused overflowing illegal copies of digital contents. Among digital contents, watermarking technique can be used to protect ownership about the image. Copyright protection involves the authentication of image ownership and the identification of illegal copies of image. In this paper, a new digital watermarking technique using HVS and adaptive scale factor based on the wavelet transform is proposed to use the binary image watermark. The original image is decomposed by 3-level wavelet transform. It is embedded to baseband and high frequency band. The embedding in the baseband is considered robustness, the embedding in the high frequency band is concerned about HVS and invisibility. The watermarking of a visually recognizable binary image used the HVS and random permutation to protect the copyright. From the experimental results, we confirm that the proposed technique is strong to various attacks such as joint photographic experts ground(JPEG) compression, cropping, collusion, and inversion of lines.
Digital Watermarking using a Quadratic Equation Embedding Method in Wavelet Transform Domain

We Present digital watermarking using a quadratic equation embedding method in wavelet transform domain in order to improve the invisibility. Generally, embedding watermark used a simple equation form, but we extended a quadratic equation form in this paper. We performed a computer simulation in order to compare proposed method to other methods using LENA, GOLDHILL, BARBARA, and MAN images By computer experiments, invisibility of the proposed method better than the conventional methods at 100 % normalized similarity.
A Study of Conversion Techniques between Korea eBook Documents Standard and Related eBook Standards

The U.S., Japan and Korea have realized the importance of establishing standards for eBook document formats and with government bodies, related industries and academic circles, OEB PS, JepaX and EBKS were established. However, compared to OEB of the U.S. and JepaX of Japan, EBKS contains different objective for establishment and different structures. As a result, for converting between documents of different standards, exact analysis of the document structures are called for and minimization of information loss when actually converting documents is required. Therefore, a method for explicit exchange between documents of different standards minimizing document structure is proposed and examples are looked at. As a result, in this paper, conversion possibilities between EBKS and OEB/JepaX are introduced and the result can be applied to cases when exchanging eBook standards and other formats.
Design and Implementation of PC Adapter Board and its Application Softwares for IrDA Communications

In this paper, we develop a PC adapter board and application software that do not use mouse or keyboard but the infrared communication, which can control the operation remotely. The infrared communication adapter is made up of the infrared receiver part and the serial communication interface part. The infrared receiver part creates a suitable scan-code using the received signal from the infrared transmitter (remote-controller). The serial communication interface part transmits the scan-code to PC by a serial communication. We implement its application softwares to listen to music and see movies. We can control their operations such as play, stop, pause and volume control remotely.
Effective 3D Object Selection Interface in Non-immersive Virtual Environment

Interaction technique in .3D virtual environment is a decisive factor that affects the immersion and presence felt by users in virtual space. Especially, in fields that require exquisite manipulation of objects such as electronic manuals in desktop environment, interaction technique that supports effective and natural manipulation of object is in demand. In this paper, 3D scene graph can be internally divided and reconstructed to a list defending on the users selection and through moving focus among the selection candidate objects list, the user can select 3D object more accurately Also, by providing various feedbacks for each manipulation stage, more effective manipulation is possible. The proposed technique can be used as 3D user interface in areas that require exquisite object manipulation.
OLAP System and Performance Evaluation for Analyzing Web Log Data

Nowadays, IT for CRM has been growing and developed rapidly. Typical techniques are statistical analysis tools, on-line multidimensional analytical processing (OLAP) tools, and data mining algorithms (such neural networks, decision trees, and association rules). Among customer data, web log data is very important and to use these data efficiently, applying OLAP technology to analyze multi-dimensionally. To make OLAP cube, we have to precalculate multidimensional summary results in order to get fast response. But as the number of dimensions and sparse cells increases, data explosion occurs seriously and the performance of OLAP decreases. In this paper, we presented why the web log data sparsity occurs and then what kinds of sparsity patterns generate in the two and t.he three dimensions for OLAP. Based on this research, we set up the multidimensional data models and query models for benchmark with each sparsity patterns. Finally, we evaluated the performance of three OLAP systems (MS SQL 2000 Analysis Service, Oracle Express and C-MOLAP).
Detection of Collision in the 3D Rivers using the Artificial Neural Network

There are problems to research the aquatic ecosystems. One is that an observer must be stationed in the specified environment and the other is that his subjective analysis causes incorrect results. In this paper, we proposed the model to evaluate and manage resources. It is based on the simulation of data acquisition and hydrodynamic model in the aquatic ecosystems. We used the artificial neural network to detect the collision between fluids. In the experiment result, the proposed model if very effective and accurate in the detection of collision.
A Design and Implements of CPP/CPA Editing System based on ebXML

In terms of B2B, business partners require works that define 1h13ir ability to operate business collaboration. The document outlining collaboration is the basis of improving the system of business partner and its interoperability. In addition, the definition of business interaction that is based on the documents demonstrating inter-cooperation of business companies is needed to function interoperability properly, and business trading is performed depending on the documents that define reciprocal action of collaboration. In ebXML, CPP(Collaboration-Protocol Profile) defines one business partner's technical capabilities to engage in electronic business collaborations with other partners by exchanging electronic messages. A CPA(Collaboration-Protocol Agreement) documents the technical agreement between two partners to engage in electronic business collaboration. In this paper, I draw up a plan for a composer system that deals with business collaboration document to ameliorate the interoperability of B2B companies.
Multi-Agent Control Strategy using Reinforcement Leaning

The most important problems in the multi-agent system are to accomplish a gnat through the efficient coordination of several agents and to prevent collision with other agents. In this paper, we propose a new control strategy for succeeding the goal of a prey pursuit problem efficiently Our control method uses reinforcement learning to control the multi-agent system and consider the distance as well as the space relationship among the agents in the state space of the prey pursuit problem.
