Fast Motion Estimation Algorithm using Temporal Continuity of Motion Vector

This paper proposes a new motion estimation algorithm using the temporal continuity of motion. We set up a wide global search region (GSR), which basically corresponds to the search region of FSA, and local search regions (LSRs), the positions for which are predicted by the motion vectors of the temporal neighbor blocks, are constructed in the GSR. The previous frame blocks that possibly have effects on the current block are to be the temporal neighbor blocks. Then Motion estimation is only performed in the areas made by LSRs. Experimental results show that the proposed method can maintain visual qualifies with significant reductions of complexity by reducing search regions, when compared to the conventional FSA.
A Single Sensor Active Noise Control Considering The Characteristics of The Speaker and The Microphone

Active noise control(ANC) is an approach to noise reduction in which a secondary noise source destructively interferes with the unwanted noise is introduced. Generally, the performance of ANC is determined how well a secondary noise tracks noises. A secondary noise is generated from the cancelling speaker and a error sensor pick up error signal. The transfer function between the cancelling speaker and the error sensor is not flat and distorts secondary noises. Consequently, the performance of ANC is degraded by the transfer function. In this paper, a single sensor ANC which considers the characteristics of the speaker and the error sensor is proposed. To reduce distortion of secondary noises, the transfer function is estimated by adaptive inverse modelling and the primary noises are estimated by Kalman filter. Experimental results show that the proposed single sensor ANC effectively attenuates noises.
A Face Recognition System using Geometric Image Processing

Biometric system has been studied as an optimal solution for preventing or reducing the peculation or loss of ID. Nowadays, face recognition has been spot-lighted as a future biometric system because it is not forced to contact the part of human body with the specific input area of the system. However, there is some limitations to get the constant facial features because the size of face area is varied by the capturing distance or tilt of the face. In this paper, we can extract constant facial features within the predefined threshold using the simple geometric processing such as image scaling, transformation, and rotation for frontal face images. This face recognition system identifies faces with 92% of accuracy for the 400 images of 40 different people.
Adaptive Watermarking Using Successive Subband Quantization and Perceptual Model Based on Multiwavelet Transform Domain

Content adaptive watermark embedding algorithm using a stochastic image model in the multiwavelet transform is proposed in this paper. A watermark is embedded into the perceptually significant coefficients (PSCs) of each subband using multiwavelet transform. The PSCs in high frequency subband are selected by SSQ, that is, by setting the thresholds as the one half of the largest coefficient in each subband. The perceptual model is applied with a stochastic approach based on noise visibility function (NVF) that has local image properties for watermark embedding. This model uses stationary Generalized Gaussian model characteristic because watermark has noise properties. The watermark estimation use shape parameter and variance of subband region. it is derive content adaptive criteria according to edge and texture, and flat region. The experiment results of the proposed watermark embedding method based on multiwavelet transform techniques were found to be excellent invisibility and robustness.
Optimal Wavelet Filter Design Using Coding Gain

In this paper, a new wavelet filter design algorithm is proposed which optimizes energy compaction of transformed coefficients. The filter, designed by the proposed algorithm enhances the coding gain of the system with fixed quantizer by most unevenly distributed energy in transform domain. The coding gain function was extended to obtain the optimal filter coefficients in each stage. The experiments showed that the filter designed by proposed method outperforms conventional filters in energy compaction rate.
Circuit Design of a Blocking Effect Reduction Algorithm using B-Spline Curve

The blocking effect results from independent coding of each image block and becomes highly visible, especially coded at very low bit rates. In this paper, a blocking effect reduction circuit is designed which is composed of a memory, arithmetic and logic unit, and control block. The circuit is based on a rational open uniform B-spline curve that uses to produce a smooth curve through a set of control points. The weight values and the modified pixel values in a rational open uniform B-spline curve are calculated using arithmetic and logic circuits. The simulation results show that the circuit has excellent performance for ail pattern of the blocking effects.
Image Mosaicing using Voronoi Distance Matching

In this paper, we describe image mosaicing techniques for constructing a large high-resolution image with images taken by a video camera in hand. we propose the method which is automatically retrieving the exact matching area using color information and shape information. The proposed method extracts first candidate areas which have similar form using a Voronoi Distance Matching Method which is rapidly estimating the correspondent points between adjacent images, and calculating initial transformations of them and finds the final matching area using color information. It is a method that creates Voronoi Surface which set the distance value among feature points and other points on the basis of each feature point of a image, and extracts the correspondent points which minimize Voronoi Distance in matching area between an input image and a basic image using the binary search method. Using the Levenberg-Marquadt method we turn an initial transformation matrix to an optimal transformation matrix, and using this matrix combine a basic image with a input image.
Design and Implementation of Algorithms for the Motion Detection of Vehicles using Hierarchical Motion Estimation and Parallel Processing

This paper presents a new method for the motion detection of vehicles using hierarchical motion estimation and parallel processing. It captures the road image by using a CMOS sensor. It divides the captured image into small blocks and detects the motion of each block by using a block-matching method which is based on a hierarchical motion estimation and parallel processing for the real-time processing. The parallelism is achieved by using tile pipeline and the data flow technique. The proposed method has been implemented by using an embedded system. The proposed block matching algorithm has been implemented on PLDs(Programmable Logic Device) and clustering algorithm has been implemented by ARM processor. Experimental results show that the proposed system detects the motion of vehicles in real-time.
A Study On The Optimization of Java Class File under Java Card Platform

Java Card technology allows us to run Java applications on smart cards and other memory-constrained devices. Java Card technology supports high security, portability and ability of storing and managing multiple applications. However, constrained memory resources of the Java Card Platform hinder wide deployment of the Java Card applications. Therefore, in this paper we propose a bytecode optimization algorithm to use the memory of a Java Card efficiently. Our algorithm can reduce the size of the bytecode by sharing the memory of the parameters of the catch clause in the try-catch-finally sentence.
A Frame Skipping Transfer Algorithm based on Network Load

To guarantee client buffer stabilization and visual quality, the VOD service that provides real time video titles on requirements of numerous users, needs a mechanism which transfers frames with dropping or skipping algorithm by network condition. In this paper, we show an algorithm that transfers withdrawed skipped MPEG frames(I, P, B frame) from disk to client dependent on network load. Moreover, we verify through a simulation that adaptive dealing on network load can reduce the network load and stabilize client receiving buffer.
Multimedia Traffic Analysis using Markov Chain Model in CDMA Mobile Communication Systems

We analyze an integrated voice/data CDMA system, where the whole channels are divided into voice prioritized channels and voice non-prioritized channels. For real-time voice service, a preemptivc priority is granted in the voice prioritized channels. And, for delay-tolerant data service, the employment of buffer is considered. On the other hand, the transmission permission probability in best-effort packet-data service is controlled by estimating the residual capacity available for users. We build a 2-dimensional markov chain about prioritized-voice and stream-data services and accomplish numerical analysis in combination with packet-data traffic based on residual capacity equation.
Efficient Multicast Routing Scheme at Mobile Environment using Regional Registration

As the demand on multicast services increases to support the terminal mobility in the midst of the development of wireless mobile communication technology, many new methods have been studied. However, previous methods occur delay and packet loss during re-joining to multicast service group when moving mobile node. In this paper, we will propose a scheme that decreases packet loss using regional registration method. Proposed scheme modified signaling message of previous regional-registration and added caching. In case move to same GFA, we can prevent packet loss by keeping registration to FA until perfectly registration ends. Also, In case move to other GFA, we can reduce packet loss by using cache. Therefore, we can receive efficient multicast service.
CLR Performance Improvement of Random Traffic in the Wireless ATM Access Architecture

In this paper, we analyzed cell loss rate performance for random traffic sources in wireless ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) access architecture, which consists of access node and wireless channel. Applying queueing model to cell level at access node and considering burst error characteristics in wireless channel, we derived a formula about the cell loss rate of the random traffic in the wireless ATM access architecture. We also applied FEC(Forward Error Correction) schemes to improve the cell loss rate of random traffic. When we applied FEC schemes in the wireless ATM access architecture, we confirmed that the concatenated code provides the most superior performance compared to any other codes.
The Design of Active Sensor Language on Active Network and Implementation of Its Interpreter

Request for network becomes complicated gradually and network traffic is increasing, To overcome this situation, the structure of network node should be changed to accept new service quickly and economically by executing program code in node itself. Active Network's research can use net resources more properly because of executing program within node itself. In this paper, we design a programming language, namely ASL, for Active Sensor to describe function and behavior of active sensor. We also design and implement the interpreter for proposed ASL.
Multicast Group Partitioning Algorithm using Status or Receivers in Content Delivery WDM Network

Content Delivery Network(CDN) is a mechanism to deliver multimedia content to end users on behalf of web content providers. Provider's content is distributed from content server to a set of delivery platforms located at Internet Service Providers(ISPs) through the CDN in order to realize better performance and availability than the system of centralized provider's servers. Existing work on CDN has primarily focused on techniques for efficiently multicasting the content from content server to the delivery platforms or to end users. Multimedia contents usually require broader bandwidth and accordingly WDM broadcast network has been highly recommended for the infrastructure network of CDN. In this paper, we propose methods for partitioning a multicast group into smaller subgroups using the previous status of receivers. Through the computer simulation, we show that proposed algorithm are useful to reduce the average receiver's waiting time and the number of transmissions.
A Study on an Improvement of Network Monitoring Performance by Adding Time Variables in SNMP PDU

Multimedia information containing voice and image is transmitted on Internet, which is ten times or hundred times larger than ordinary information. Analysis types for network management in this environment consist of a real time analysis, a basic analysis and an intensive analysis. The intensive analysis is useful for gathering the trend information of specific objects periodically for certain period in order to monitor network status. When SNMP is applied to collect the trend information of intensive analysis, it brings on the increase of network load, the delay of response time and the decrease of data collection accuracy since an agent responds to manager's every polling. In this paper, an efficient SNMP is proposed and implemented to add time variables in the existing SNMP PDU. It minimizes unnecessary traffic in the intensive analysis between manager and agent, and collects trend information more accurately. The results of experiments show that it has compatibility with the existing SNMP, decreases the amount of network traffic greatly and increases the accuracy of data collection.
The Design of Conference-based Authentication Mechanism Employing the Symmetric Balanced Incomplete Block Design on IMT-2000 Environment

In this paper, we present a conference key authentication mechanism by employing an algebraic method on IMT-2000 environment. To accomplish this, the symmetric balanced incomplete block design is applied for generating a conference key and then this key is distributed to participants. Through the technique for creation of a conference key and mutual authentications peformed based on identification information, a communication protocol is designed. The protocol proposed minimizes the communication complexity for generating a conference key. On a special case the complexity is O(equation omitted), where v is the number of participants. The security of the mechanism, which is a significant problem in construction of secure systems, can be assured since finding discrete logarithms is generally a hard problem.
The Integration of Segmentation Based Environment Models from Multiple Images

This paper introduces segmentation based environment modeling method and integration method using multiple environment map for constructing the realtime image-based panoramic navigation system. The segmentation-based environment modeling method is easy to implement on the environment map and can be used for environment modeling by extracting the depth value by the segmentation of the environment map. However, an environment model that is constructed using a single environment map has the problem of a blurring effect caused by the fixed resolution, and the stretching effect of the 3D model caused when information that does not exist on the environment map occurs due to the occlusion. In this paper, we suggest environment models integration method using multiple environment map to resolve the above problem. This method can express parallax effect and expand the environment model to express wide range of environment. The segmentation-based environment modeling method using multiple environment map can build a detail model with optimal resolution.
Multiresolution Mesh Editing based on the Extended Convex Combination Parameterization

This paper presents a more stable method of multiresolution editing for a triangular mesh. The basic idea of our paper is to embed an editing area of a mesh onto a 2D region and to produce 3D surfaces which interpolate the editing-information. In this paper, we adopt the extended convex combination approach based on the shape-preserving parameterization for the embedding, which guarantees no self-intersection on the 2D embedded mesh. That is, the result of the embedding is stable. Moreover, we adopt the multi-level B-spline approach to generate the surface containing all of 3D editing-information, which can make us control the editing area in several levels. Hence, this method supports interactive editing and thus can produce intuitive editing results.
Fuzzy Supervised Learning Algorithm by using Self-generation

In this paper, we consider a multilayer neural network, with a single hidden layer. Error backpropagation learning method used widely in multilayer neural networks has a possibility of local minima due to the inadequate weights and the insufficient number of hidden nodes. So we propose a fuzzy supervised learning algorithm by using self-generation that self-generates hidden nodes by the compound fuzzy single layer perceptron and modified ART1. From the input layer to hidden layer, a modified ART1 is used to produce nodes. And winner take-all method is adopted to the connection weight adaptation, so that a stored pattern for some pattern gets updated. The proposed method has applied to the student identification card images. In simulation results, the proposed method reduces a possibility of local minima and improves learning speed and paralysis than the conventional error backpropagation learning algorithm.
