Design of a Storage System for XML Documents using Relational Databases

In this paper. we propose a storage system for XML documents using relational databases. Additional processing is required to store XML documents in the relational databases due to the discrepancy between XML structures and relational schema. This study aims to store XML documents with DTD in the relational databases. We propose the association inlining that exploits shred inlining and hybrid inlining and avoids relation fragments and excessive joins. Experiments show some improvements in the performance with the proposed method. The information of the storage structures is extracted from the simplified DTD. Existing map classes are extended in order to map various structures of XML to relational schema. Map classes are defined for various structures such as elements with multiple values, elements with multiple super elements, and elements with recursive structures through analyzing XML documents. Map files that are XML structures and used in generating SQL statements are created by using the extracted information of storage structures and map classes.
Efficient Publishing Spatial Information as GML for Interoperability of Heterogeneous Spatial Database Systems

In the past, geographic data is constructed and serviced through independent formats of its own according to each GIS(Geographic Information System). Recently the provision of interoperability in GIS is important to efficiently apply the various geographic data between conventional GIS's. Whereupon OGC(Open GIS Consortium) proposed GML(Geography Markup Language) to offer the interoperability between heterogeneous GISs in distributed environments. The GML is an XML encoding for the transport and storage of geographic information, including both the spatial and non-spatial properties of geographic features. Also, the GML includes Web Map Server Implementation Specification to service the GML documents. Accordingly the prototype to provide the reciprocal interchange of geographic information between conventional GIS's and GML documents is widely studied. In this paper, we propose a mapping method of geographic in formation between spatial database and GML for the prototype to support the interoperability between heterogeneous geographic information. For this method, firstly the scheme of converting geographic in Formation of the conventional spatial database into the GML document according to the GML specification is explained, and secondly the scheme to transform geographic information of GML documents to geographic data of spatial database is showed. Consequently, the proposed method is applicable to the framework for integrated geographic information services based on Web by making an offer the interoperability between already built geographic information of conventional GIS's using a mapping method of geographic information between spatial database and GML.
A Facial Region Detection using the Skin Color and Edge Information at YCbCr

This thesis proposes a face detection algorithm using the color and edge informations in color image. The proposed algorithm segments skin color by Cb and Cr in YCbCr coordinates. Then face candidate regions are made after morphological filtering and labeling. For the regions, the Sobel vortical operation and horizontal projection are performed in the Y luminance components. The peak value indicates the eye location. Similarly, the chin location is detected by the Sobel horizontal operation and horizontal projection. The computer simulation shows that the proposed method gains similar detection rates of previous method and prevent facial region from including neck by detection of chin.
Vehicle Information Recognition and Electronic Toll Collection System with Detection of Vehicle feature Information in the Rear-Side of Vehicle

In this paper, we proposed a vehicle recognition and electronic toll collection system with detection and classification of vehicle identification mark and emblem as well as recognition of vehicle license plate to unman toll fee collection system or incoming/outcoming vehicles to an institution. In the proposed algorithm, we first process pre-processing step such as noise reduction and thinning from the rear side input image of vehicle and detect vehicle mark, emblem and license plate region using intensity variation informations, template masking and labeling operation. And then, we classify the detected vehicle features regions into vehicle mark and emblem as well as recognize characters and numbers of vehicle license plate using hybrid and seven segment pattern vector. To show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm, we tested it on real vehicle images of implemented vehicle recognition system in highway toll gate and found that the proposed method shows good feature detection/classification performance regardless of irregular environment conditions as well as noise, size, and location of vehicles. And also, the proposed algorithm may be utilized for catching criminal vehicles, unmanned toll collection system, and unmanned checking incoming/outcoming vehicles to an institution.
A Double Z-buffer Antialiasing Method for Voxelized Implicit Surfaces

This paper aims at presenting high quality at low resolution apply by a new antialiasing method for voxelized implicit surfaces. Implicit surfaces create a unique type of 3D-modeling. Some use of implicit surfaces are scientific and medical visualization, animation, medical simulation and interactive modeling. One of previous antialiasing methods for implicit surfaces presented by raytracing or texture mapping is making use of a stochastic sampling. But this method requires more calculation time and costs which is caused by complicated and difficult implicit functions. In the meanwhile, voxelized implicit surfaces generally use high resolution for good quality images but it costs to generate. In order to this problem, this paper suggests a shifted double Z-buffer which is very simple, more efficient and easy. Tn addition, there are applied box-filter and tent-filter to the double Z-buffer antialiasing method for better images. For results this method generate high quality image and it is easy to apply to various filters and is able to extend to multi Z-buffer.
A Hybrid QoS Guarantee Scheme for High-Quality Audio Streaming Services on the Internet

This paper describes a hybrid QoS guarantee scheme for high quality audio streaming services on the Internet. The continuous playback of the audio data requires the isochronous transmission of the audio data packet through the Internet. In order to retain the QoS at the ultimate destination (client) as the same as servers provide, the transmission protocols should consider the error conditions such as packet loss, and out of order delivery. Generally, the protocols supporting the transmission of continuous media data do not try to recover the errors. The protocols are working somehow for the toll quality multimedia streaming services, but rot for the high quality streaming services, such as the DVD sound/music payback. The hybrid QoS guarantee scheme includes the three mechanisms to overcome the problem. The selective retransmission for the lost packet, the adaptive buffering at client-side, and the adaptive transmission rate at server-side are totally adopted to recover the packet loss with the minimal overhead, to prevent from the buffer starvation during the retransmission, and to maintain the isochronous transmission even after the retransmission. The experiments have shown good results for the high Quality audio streaming services on the Internet.
Implementation of a Testbed for the Use of Mobile IP in the Campus Network

Mobility changes the computing environment of computer users rapidly with the broad use of the Internet. In order to support mobility in the Internet infrastructure, IETF standardized Mobile IP With the use of Mobile IP, the Internet users can use the Internet freely without any change in the IP address configuration when they move from their home networks to foreign networks. In this paper, we implement a test bed for evaluation the performance of Mobile IP to use it in the campus network. By evaluating the effect of the use of Mobile IP on the network performance, we expect that the possible side effect of its direct use in the campus network will be reduced.
An Efficient Soft Decision Decoding Method for Block Codes

In this paper, we propose an efficient soft decision decoding algorithm for linear block codes. A conventional soft decision decoder have to invoke a hard decision decoder several times to estimate its soft decision values. However, in this method, we may not have candidate codewords, thus it is very difficult to produce soft decision values. We solve this problem by introducing an efficient algorithm to search candidate codewords. By using this, we can highly reduce the cases we cannot find candidate codewords. We estimate the performance of the proposed algorithm by using the computer simulations. The simulation is performed for binary (63, 36) BCH code in fading channel.
A Watermarking of 3D Mesh Model using EGI Distributions of Each Patch

Watermarking algorithm for 3D mesh model using EGI distribution of each patch is proposed. The proposed algorithm divides a 3D mesh model into 6 patches to have the robustness against the partial geometric deformation. Plus, it uses EGI distributions as the consistent factor that has the robustness against the topological deformation. To satisfy both geometric and topological deformation, the same watermark bits for each subdivided patch are embedded by changing the mesh normal vectors. Moreover, the proposed algorithm does not need not only the original mesh model but also the resampling process to extract the watermark. Experimental results verify that the proposed algorithm is imperceptible and robust against geometrical and topological attacks.
Design and Implementation of Modified Web Contents Detection System

As the electronic commercial transaction is being transacted by contents which can get an illegal intrusion from the outside, we sincerely require security for them. We must consider a protection countermeasure about intrusion from protection of the passive form to protection intrusion of the active one. So the security is required against hackers illegality intrusion into the contents. As soon as the intrusion happens about the contents, the tools providing the monitor of contents are required to minimize the damage to the systems. Modified web contents detection system in this paper prevents the loss of resources and manpower required through individually monitoring on the web. Also, this paper offers rapid support of security that it analyzes the weakness of contents security of the web environment and the cause of the problem with the leakage of information. So this system has the pur pose of protecting the weakness of contents security and the leakage of information.
A Robust Pattern Digital Watermarking Method using Wavelet Transform

In this paper, we proposed a watermarking algorithm for embedding visually recognizable pattern into the middle-frequency part:; of image. Binary image as watermark is embedded in the LH2, HL2 and HH2 band of wavelet transformed domain for copyright protection of image data. To evaluate robustness of the proposed method, we applied some basic algorithm of image processing such as scaling, filtering, cropping, histogram equalizing and lossy compression(JPEG, gif). As a result of experiment, the proposed method has the good image quality and the high perceptibility of watermark. It was demonstrated by experiments that the proposed algorithm can provide an excellent protection under various attacks.
Performance Analysis of Registration Delay Time by Varying Number of foreign Agent in Regional Registration

Mobile IP is a solution for mobility on the global Internet. However, it causes service delay incase of frequent movement of mobile node and mobile users. Mobile IP regional registration is Proposed to reduce the service delay. In this paper, we introduce an optimal regional location management mechanism for Mobile IP that reduces the registration delay. The movement of mobile node is described by a discrete analytical model. The proposed model explains analytically average packet rate and registration cost as the size of regional networks with mobility of mobile node.
Component Classification and Specification on Active Security Architecture

Active networks aim to provide a software framework that enables active network applications to customize the processing their communications. Active security component architecture focuses on the support of reuse system by active security component. The architecture is standard layer to acquire, understand, and assemble component, and it has to support a guideline for component identification, search and customization. In this paper we present the active security architecture as a standard model of discrete active network solution, and we propose the method for component classification and specification.
Effectiveness Analysis of the Web-Based Statistics Education using Multimedia Technologies

Students, who are studying the field of accounting, have to learn and practice statistics in order to analyze the current social status and to predict the Suture trend. however, students have a strong tendency to avoid the statistics lessons, which are dealing with complicated numbers, mathematics, various equations, and so on. This paper aims to construct a stimulating environment for learning statistics and develop an actual lesson on the Internet, Which students can study by practicing directly. The lesson is fully interactive and visualized by using multimedia technologies. The effectiveness of the experiment is measured by survey questions to the students who used the lesson.
An Intelligent Image Retrieval System using XML

With the rapid development of internet technology, the number of internet users and the amount of multimedia information on the internet is ever increasing. Recently, the web sites, such as e-business sites and shopping mall sites, deal with lots of image information. As a result, it is required to support content- based image retrieval efficiently on such image data. This paper proposes an intelligent image retrieval system, which adopts XML, technology. To support object-based col)tent retrieval on product catalog images containing multiple objects, we describe a multi -level metadata structure which represents the local features, global features, and semantics of image data. To enable semantic-based and content-based retrieval on such image data, we design a XML-Schema for the proposed metadata and show how to represent such metadata using XML- documents. We also describe how to automatically transform the retrieval results into the forms suitable for the various user environments, such as web browser or mobile browser, using XSLT The proposed scheme can be easily implemented on any commercial platforms supporting XML technology. It can be utilized to enable efficient image metadata sharing between systems, and it will contribute in improving the retrieval correctness and the user's satisfaction on content-based e-catalog image retrieval.
