A Study on the Product Searching Database Optimization Based on Association Rules
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 7, issue 2, 2004, Pages 145~155
It is very important for Internet searching systems to have user-friendly and rapid searching functions at the managers'point of view. The former finds optimized input parameters to support the various searching requirements of user. The latter has fast searching results which are effectively normalized to various input parameters having different attributes. In this paper we basically focus on optimized database construction not only to have searching functions with multiple attributes to support maximal various input requirements of the user but also to have more rapid searching functions. For this research, we suggest a modified association algorithm that takes into consideration to the support and confidence that is the criteria of the association mining rule in order to reflect the searching characteristics of internet shopping malls. We also propose the model management systems for rapid searching functions. The following results are from a processed simulation: the more the number of searching transactions of the users increase, the less the total relative average searching time becomes.
Adaptive Face Region Detection and Real-Time Face Identification Algorithm Based on Face Feature Evaluation Function
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 7, issue 2, 2004, Pages 156~163
In this paper, we propose an adaptive face region detection and real-time face identification algorithm using face feature evaluation function. The proposed algorithm can detect exact face region adaptively by using skin color information for races as well as intensity and elliptical masking method. And also, it improves face recognition efficiency using geometrical face feature and geometric evaluation function between features. The proposed algorithm can be used for the development of biometric and security system areas. In the experiment, the superiority of the proposed method has been tested using real image, the proposed algorithm shows more improved recognition efficiency as well as face region detection efficiency than conventional method.
The Improved Error Diffusion Method Using Compensating Value Depending on Edge Information and Linear Gain
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 7, issue 2, 2004, Pages 164~172
Halftoning of gray-scale image is a process to produce a binary image. The error diffusion halftoning method produces high qualify binary image but that has some defects such as sharpening and directional artifacts. We propose the threshold modulation to reduce such defects. The proposed algorithm uses thresholds reflecting local characteristic of image. We calculate thresholds which minimize errors of flat region of each gray-scale level by using a linear gain between original image and error-diffused image and then represent edge by compensating thresholds in proportion to edge information. The proposed method improves on halftone quality by minimizing an error which cause sharpening and directional artifact.
A Object-Based Image Retrieval Using Feature Analysis and Fractal Dimension
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 7, issue 2, 2004, Pages 173~186
This paper proposed the content-based retrieval system as a method for performing image retrieval through the effective feature extraction of the object of significant meaning based on the characteristics of man's visual system. To allow the object region of interest to be primarily detected, the region, being comparatively large size, greatly different from the background color and located in the middle of the image, was judged as the major object with a meaning. To get the original features of the image, the cumulative sum of tile declination difference vector the segment of the object contour had and the signature of the bipartite object were extracted and used in the form of being applied to the rotation of the object and the change of the size after partition of the total length of the object contour of the image into the normalized segment. Starting with this form feature, it was possible to make a retrieval robust to any change in translation, rotation and scaling by combining information on the texture sample, color and eccentricity and measuring the degree of similarity. It responded less sensitively to the phenomenon of distortion of the object feature due to the partial change or damage of the region. Also, the method of imposing a different weight of similarity on the image feature based on the relationship of complexity between measured objects using the fractal dimension by the Boxing-Counting Dimension minimized the wrong retrieval and showed more efficient retrieval rate.
Distributed Control Algorithms for QoS in Wireless Networks Using Wireless Token Ring Protocol
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 7, issue 2, 2004, Pages 187~193
Wireless networks play a very important role in communications today. For example, wireless networks today provide from the basic services like e-mail and FTP to the multimedia applications like Web service. It is obvious that QoS requirements to these diverse applications over wireless networks will continue as in wired networks. Much research has been done to develop QoS supporting algorithms on Internet. But due to the limited bandwidth and varying channel states of the wireless networks, it is difficult to support differentiated service over wireless networks. In this paper we propose the modified wireless token ring protocol supporting QoS to the real-time traffic service node over Internet environments in which non-real-time and real-time traffic service nodes coexist. In the proposed algorithm, the real-time traffic service node gets the priority to take token over the non-real-time traffic service node. So the proposed algorithm support quick transmission of the real-time traffic service node. And this advantage can be obtained with minor modification of the legacy wireless token ing protocol to support QoS. We also consider the lost token recovery mechanism.

Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 7, issue 2, 2004, Pages 194~203
In this paper we propose a Mobile Petri-net Model (MPM) as a new specification model including the QoS parameter that minimizes the transmission delay time. In MPM, we propose a playing time algorithm for supporting the seamless presentation and the smooth playing. The proposed model has a higher guarantee of QoS such as playing time than the previous work.
A Study on MAC Protocol for Packet Data Service in Slotted CDMA Environment
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 7, issue 2, 2004, Pages 204~210
This paper proposes a transmission probability control scheme and MAC protocol for packet data services in slotted CDMA system. In slotted CDMA system, multiple access interference is the major factor of unsuccessful packet transmissions. Therefore, in order to obtain the optimal system throughput, the number of simultaneously transmitted packets should be kept at a proper level. In the proposed protocol, the base station calculates the packet transmission probability of mobile stations according to the offered load and then broadcasts it. Mobile stations, which have a packet, attempt to transmit packet with the received probability. Numerical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed scheme can offer better system throughput than the conventional one, and guarantee a good fairness among all mobile stations regardless of the offered load.

By development of wireless mobile communication, many users increased. But, in case of 1st generation or 2nd generation, transfer communication service was not satisfying high speed wireless internet Communication consumer's request such as other multimedia service because serviced based on voice and text basically. Can get through service such as data and transfer multimedia service that is not service of voice putting first in wireless hereafter. Problems by much development of service are happening, because a transmit is exposed, problem point that wireless network is much unlawful stealing use and tapping etc. As is different from this, problem can happen in service side. Can take next time for these example. By user that is not right can happen. Need method to keep away purpose that is enemy of third party in contract between both men as well as problem for document or accounting information which the third user that is enemy of third party is shared. By solution about problems, certification of contents for document and visual point confirmation must it. Applied service or certification of contents service that is rapidly point of time that is using in wire to solve problem that refer in front in this treatise in IMT-2000 to develop hereafter. Way to propose proposed efficient way using individual in IMT-2000 just as it is.

A shooting game is all game genres that hit targets through shooting. It include a lot of genres from a flying shot of game room to a personal shooting action game. In this point, a shooting game was regarded it as the origin of all game and it was developed from the early days of game. At present we can meet it in an electronic game room or personal computer, and mobile phone etc.. The popularity of shooting game caused to take aim by simple system, interface, and speedy play. Also it was enticed everyone to enjoy it easily. A shooting games is worked from old like ways until recently and a process of playing game is intuitive than another game. Therefore it popular with a PC player as well as persons of all levels. Beginners can train this game easily through direction such as control way of object, advent way of enemy aircraft and scroll way of background. But as an usability of working and controlling game, beginners of game development can pass over a shooting sense that shout and hit basically. And after design, they will feel that cannot convey realistic effect and thrill etc.. At a result, hitting sense happens to graphic elements and sound. Therefore a measure of effect on these elements is started from analysis of good shooting game. This study was to focus on the advance effect of hitting sense in shooting game through analysis centered for 'the Beetlewing' and '1945 Plus'.
A Study on Route Map Visualization Method for Mobile Handset
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 7, issue 2, 2004, Pages 231~240
Location Based Service(LBS) system is widely used in Car Navigation Service(CNS), position tracing, tour guide, etc. Recently, the development of a mobile hardware enables us to run various application of software on small handset. Although CNS systems are widely used on personal computer, PDA and embedded machines, small display system of a mobile handset still constrains to make it difficult to developed route visualization and navigation system. In this paper, we propose a new route map visualization system on mobile handset environment for LBS system. We use modified line simplification algorithm that removes extraneous information and places more emphasis on the turning point. We also adopted level of detail route visualization technique for visualization of a detail map. This system improved turn-by-turn method and line drive system, which are widely adopted by current route visualization system.
Protocol for Mobile On-line Conents in GVM Development Environment
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 7, issue 2, 2004, Pages 241~250
In this paper, an application layer protocol between sewer and client is proposed for mobile on-line contents in heterogeneous distributed environments. The proposed protocol guarantees the global state consistency in the distributed environments and controls the flow of communication. The protocol reduces the overhead of handsets for flow control and does not need to maintain state information for contents. CPs, by using the proposed sealable protocol, can easily develop their contents as application processes.
A Design and Implementation of Event Processor for Playing SMIL 2.0 Documents
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 7, issue 2, 2004, Pages 251~263
The Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL), recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) in 1998, is an XML-based declarative language to synchronize and present multimedia documents. SMIL can create new multimedia data integrating various types of multimedia objects which exist separately such as text, video, graphics and audio. It can support synchronization of multimedia data which are limited in current HTML-based Web technology. For its popularity, it is required to develop a multimedia server guaranteeing Quality of Service (QoS), authoring tool and player. For developing a SMIL authoring tool and player, the technologies are essentially required to read and analyze a SMIL document and to play synchronized various types of media objects in a timeline. In this paper, we describe a design and implementation of an event processor which supports SMIL 2.0 timing model. Moreover, we also develop a SMIL 2.0 player using the proposed event processor. This will facilitate the play of SMIL contents, so that it can contribute to the prosperity of SMIL technology It is possible to reuse in various language profiles defined in the SMIL standard. This player is expected to be utilized in other standard integrating SMIL such as XHTML＋SMIL and SMIL Animation.
An Efficient Load-Sharing Scheme for Internet-Based Clustering Systems
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 7, issue 2, 2004, Pages 264~271
A load-sharing algorithm must deal with load imbalance caused by characteristics of a network and heterogeneity of nodes in Internet-based clustering systems. This paper has proposed the Efficient Load-Sharing algorithm. Efficient-Load-Sharing algorithm creates a scheduler based on the WF(Weighted Factoring) algorithm and then allocates tasks by an adaptive granularity strategy and the refined fixed granularity algorithm for better performance. In this paper, adaptive granularity strategy is that master node allocates tasks of relatively slower node to faster node and refined fixed granularity algorithm is to overlap between the time spent by slave nodes on computation and the time spent for network communication. For the simulation, the matrix multiplication using PVM is performed on the heterogeneous clustering environment which consists of two different networks. Compared to other algorithms such as Send, GSS and Weighted Factoring, the proposed algorithm results in an improvement of performance by 75%, 79% and 17%, respectively.

Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 7, issue 2, 2004, Pages 272~282
As Web services need to manage lots of information, it is indispensable to reduce server's load and speed up processing time. In this paper, we analyze the loading problems of server and suggest designing methods for light loaded Web applications based on .NET. The proposed methods include using a relative database to produce minimized modules and Stored Procedures to simplify SQL statements for reducing sever's load. Web pages are organized with scripts replacing server language, which improve server's capability by reducing loads. The execution time is also speeded up by organizing Web pages with User Controls. And XML/EDI is used for managing the effective exchange of documents. The proposed methods are implemented as an education management system and shows its effectiveness.
Design and Implementation of Integrated Network Management System for Internet Service Subscribers Network
Journal of Korea Multimedia Society, volume 7, issue 2, 2004, Pages 283~291
Internet Service Subscribers Network has a new role of providing the various multimedia services to the home. However, there exist several types of distributed subscribers network using Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL), Very high-bit rate Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL), and Data Over Cable Service Interface Specifications (DOCSIS). The efficient and concentrated network management of those several distributed subscribers networks with resources require the general information model of network, which has abstract and conceptional managed objects independent of type of network and its equipment to manage the integrated subscriber network. This paper presents the general Internet subscribers network model of the managed object to manage that network in the form of integrated hierarchy This paper adopts the object-oriented development methodology with UML and designs and implements the integrated subscribers NMS of cable data network and VDSL network as examples of the subscriber networks.
