The Design of Web-Linked Digital Map for LBS/GIS Service

LBS(Location Based Service) and GIS (Geographic Information System) are supporting necessary services for system which provides geographic information using location information based on various platforms. However the mobile computing environments such as PDA system have serious limitations in functional viewpoints compare of general computing environments, it has problems for developing GIS system which is providing various information. In this paper, we suggest the reduced methods of digital map and format of web-linked digital mao in order to fit in mobile environment. As a result of map generation, the total capacity of the supported digital map was diminished about

Developing a Medical Image Retrieval System Based on MPEG-7

Now a days, PACS and the other image sharing systems use only high-level metadata for hospital to retrieve images. So if you want to retrieve some images, you have to know exact information about the patient. In this paper, we developed a Image Retrieval System based on MPEG-7 to retrieve medical images more efficiently. This system offers keyword retrieval using high-level metadata based of DICOM and similarity retrieval using low-level metadata based on MFEG-7. And we integrated high-level metadata and low-level metadata to retrieve medical images more exactly.
Low-Power Video Decoding with Optimal Supply Voltage Determination Based on the Number of Non-Coded Blocks

This paper proposed a novel low-power video decoding scheme for mobile multimedia communication. In general, there are quite a large number of non-coded blocks in the encoded bitstream where all quantized DCT coefficients are truncated into zero. When the number of the non-coded blocks are known at the start of frame decoding, the amount of computation reduction can be precisely estimated for frame decoding. When the computation reduces, the operation speed and the corresponding supply voltage of VLSI circuits in the decoder also reduce, thus thus power consumption also reduces. In the proposed scheme, the number of the non-coded blocks is stored in the frame header of the encoded bitstream, and the decoder efficiently reduces the power consumption exploiting this information. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme reduces the power consumption to about 1/20.
Fast Wavelet Adaptive Algorithm Based on Variable Step Size for Adaptive Noise Canceler

Least mean square(LMS) algorithm is one of the most popular algorithm in adaptive signal processing because of the simplicity and the small computation. But the convergence speed of time domain adaptive algorithm is slow when the spread width of eigen values is wide. Moreover we have to choose the step size well for convergency in this paper, we use adaptive algorithm of wavelet transform. And we propose a new wavelet based adaptive algorithm of wavelet transform. And we propose a new wavelet based adaptive algorithm with variable step size, which Is linear to absolute value of error signal. We applied this algorithm to adaptive noise canceler. Simulation results are presented to compare the performance of the proposed algorithm with the usual algorithms.
Design and Implementation of a Real-Time Face Detection System

This paper proposes a real-time face detection system which detects multiple faces from low resolution video such as web-camera video. First, It finds face region candidates by using AdaBoost based object detection method which selects a small number of critical features from a larger set. Next, it generates reduced feature vector for each face region candidate by using principle component analysis. Finally, it classifies if the candidate is a face or non-face by using SVM(Support Vector Machine) based binary classification. According to experiment results, the proposed method achieves real-time face detection from low resolution video. Also, it reduces the false detection rate than existing methods by using PCA and SVM based face classification step.
A Discontinuity feature Enhancement Filter Using DCT fuzziness

Though there have been many methods to detect features in spatial domain, in the case of a compressed image it has to be decoded, processed and encoded again. Alternatively, we can manipulate a compressed image directly in the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) domain that has been used for compressing videos or images in the standards like MPEG and JPEG. In our previous work we proposed a model-based discontinuity evaluation technique in the DCT domain that had problems in the rotated or non-ideal discontinuities. In this paper, we propose a fuzzy filtering technique that consists of height fuzzification, direction fuzzification, and forty filtering of discontinuities. The enhancement achieved by the fuzzy tittering includes the linking, thinning, and smoothing of discontinuities in the DCT domain. Although the detected discontinuities are rough in a low-resolution image for the size (8
8 pixels) of the DCT block, experimental results show that this technique is fast and stable to enhance the qualify of discontinuities.
A Past Elimination Algorithm of Impossible Candidate Vectors Using Matching Scan Method in Motion Estimation of Full Search

Significant computations for full search (FS) motion estimation have been a big obstacle in real-time video coding and recent MPEG-4 AVC (advanced video coding) standard requires much more computations than conventional MPEG-2 for motion estimation. To reduce an amount of computation of full search (FS) algorithm for fast motion estimation, we propose a new and fast matching algorithm without any degradation of predicted images like the conventional FS. The computational reduction without any degradation in predicted image comes from fast elimination of impossible candidate motion vectors. We obtain faster elimination of inappropriate motion vectors using efficient matching units from localization of complex area in image data and dithering order based matching scan. Our algorithm reduces about
of computations for block matching error compared with the conventional partial distortion elimination (PDE) algorithm, and our algorithm will be useful in real-time video coding applications using MPEG-4 AVC or MPEG-2.
Design of the Autogenous Context Service and Middleware for Ubiquitous Environments

Context-Aware is a one of the important researches in ubiquitous computing for providing optimal service to users by acquiring user's intentions and environmental information. Diverse researches are focused on the users and its environment facts for Context-Aware base and introduce a sensing based middleware which engages sever/sensor that operates identifier information to provide services. Context-Aware service which is limited by users and environment facts has the problem of overlapping sensing, unnecessary searching and anonymity of users. Also Server-Centric Context-Aware system requires very high cost to manage and operate the services. On this paper, We introduce Autogenous Context service model to simplify the Context-Aware process and design the middleware which performs decentralize management for Context-Aware information of user's portable devices to minimize problems which is occurred during the management and operation of existing Context-Aware system
An Efficient Buffer Management Scheme for TCP Traffic Transmission in ATM Networks

The Guaranteed Frame Rate(GFR) service has been designed to accomodate non-real-time applications, such as TCP/IP based traffic in ATM networks. The GFR service not only guarantees a minimum throughput at the frame level, but also supports a fair share of available resources. In this paper, we propose a cell scheduling scheme which can improve the fairness and the goodput through the traffic control in GFR service. For the evaluation of the proposed scheme, we compare the proposed scheme with the existing scheme in the fairness and the goodput. Simulation results show that proposed scheme can improve the fairness and goodput comparing with the existing buffer management scheme.
Energy-Aware Routing Protocol for Mobile Ad Hoc Network

A mobile Ad Hoc network is a dynamic mobile wireless network that can be formed without the need for any pre-existing wired or wireless infrastructure. A mobile ad hoc node has limited battery capacity. Hence, Ad Hoc routing protocol ought to be energy conservative. Previous energy aware routing has limit in fairness among nodes and network wide power consumption. In this research, we propose a new routing protocol called Clustering Based Energy-Aware Routing(CBEAR) which can improve the problems. Simulation results show that the routing protocol improves fairness and network wide power consumption as well as life time of nodes.
Development of Verification and Conformance Testing Tools for Communication Protocol

As a very important part in development of the protocol, verification and conformance test for protocol specification are complementary techniques that are used to increase the level of confidence in the system functions as prescribed by their specifications. In this paper, we verify the safety and liveness properties of rail signal control protocol type 1 specified in LTS with model checking method, and experimentally prove that it is possible to check for the deadlock, livelock and rechability of the states and actions on LTS. The implemented formal checker is able to verify whether properties expressed in modal logic are true in specifications using modal mu-calculus. We also propose a formal method on generation of conformance test cases using the concept of UIO sequences from verified protocol specification. The suggested tools are implemented by C++ language under Windows NT.
Similar Video Detection Method with Summarized Video Image and PCA

With ever more popularity of video web-publishing, popular content is being compressed, reformatted and modified, resulting in excessive content duplication. Such overlapped data can cause problem of search speed and rate of searching. However, duplicated data on other site can provide alternatives while specific site cause problem. This paper proposes the efficient method, for retrieving. similar video data in large database. In this research we have used the method to compare summarized video image instead of the raw video data, and detected similar videos through clustering in that dimension feature vector through PCA(principle component analysis). We show that our proposed method is efficient and accurate through our experiment.
A Study on Implementation of Efficient Patient Care Application System Using RFID

Various kinds of studies for building up U-Korea are now underway. Especially, RFID comes into the spotlight as a core technology of Ubiquitous. Though, the development of higher levels of application is far behind the hardware-based technology in RFID application system. For that reason, In this paper suggests technology using RFID on Ubiquitous and embodies the effective health care application which is one of the application services of user-centered environment It realizes the system which enables us to manage and send data about changing prescriptions and locations of patients effectively under the basis of RFID tag and mobile devices. It also provides the high quality of practical effectiveness of entire system throughout the realization of applications of application server and mobile device. on the basis of framework for providing the various kinds of services and physical elements.
