Index based on Constraint Network for Spatio-Temporal Aggregation of Trajectory in Spatial Data Warehouse

Moving objects have been widely employed in traffic and logistic applications. Spatio-temporal aggregations mainly describe the moving object's behavior in the spatial data warehouse. The previous works usually express the object moving in some certain region, but ignore the object often moving along as the trajectory. Other researches focus on aggregation and comparison of trajectories. They divide the spatial region into units which records how many times the trajectories passed in the unit time. It not only makes the storage space quite ineffective, but also can not maintain spatial data property. In this paper, a spatio-temporal aggregation index structure for moving object trajectory in constrained network is proposed. An extended B-tree node contains the information of timestamp and the aggregation values of trajectories with two directions. The network is divided into segments and then the spatial index structure is constructed. There are the leaf node and the non leaf node. The leaf node contains the aggregation values of moving object's trajectory and the pointer to the extended B-tree. And the non leaf node contains the MBR(Minimum Bounding Rectangle), MSAV(Max Segment Aggregation Value) and its segment ID. The proposed technique overcomes previous problems efficiently and makes it practicable finding moving object trajectory in the time interval. It improves the shortcoming of R-tree, and makes some improvement to the spatio-temporal data in query processing and storage.
Replica Update Propagation Using Demand-Based Tree for Weak Consistency in the Grid Database

In the Grid Database, some replicas will have more requests from the clients than others. A fast consistency algorithm has been presented to satisfy the high demand nodes in a shorter period of time. But it has poor performance in multiple regions of high demand for forming the island of locally consistent replicas. Then, a leader election method is proposed, whereas it needs much additional cost for periodic leader election, information storage, and message passing, Also, false leader can be created. In this paper, we propose a tree-based algorithm for replica update propagation. Leader replicas with high demand are considered as the roots of trees which are interconnected. All the other replicas are sorted and considered as nodes of the trees. Once an update occurs at any replica, it need be transmitted to the leader replicas first. Every node that receives the update propagates it to its children in the tree. The update propagation is optimized by cost reduction for fixed propagation schedule. And it is also flexible for the dynamic model in which the demand conditions change with time.

Adaptive Transcoding for Object-based MPEG-4 Scene using Optimal Configuration of Objects

In order to transmit multimedia streams over the network with a timely changing channel bandwidth such as Internet, scalable video coding schemes have been studied to represent video in flexible bitstream. Much research has been made on how to represent encoded media(such as video) bitstream in scalable ways. In this paper, rte propose an optimal selection of the objects for MPEG-4 bitstream adaptation to meet a given constraint. We adopt a multiple choice knapsack problem with multi-step selection for the MPEG-4 objects with different bit-rate scaling levels in the MPEG-4 bitstream. The bitstream adaptation based on the optimal selection result is then to fetch the necessary parts of the MPEG-4 bitstream to constitute an adapted version of the original MPEG-4 binary resource. The experiment results show that the optimal selection of MPEG-4 objects for a given constraint can promisingly be made which meets the given constraint.
Study and Experimentation on Detection of Nicks inside of Porcelain with Acoustic Emission

An usual acoustic emission(AE) event has two widely characterized parameters in time domain, peak amplitude and event duration. But noise in AE measuring may disturb the signals with its parameters and aggrandize the signal incertitude. Experiment activity of detection of the nick inside of porcelain with AE was made and study on AE signal processing with statistic be presented in this paper in order to pick-up information expected from the signal with noise. Effort is concentrated on developing a novel arithmetic to improve extraction of the characteristic from stochastic signal and to enhance the voracity of detection. The main purpose discussed in this paper is to treat with signals on amplitudes with statistic mutuality and power density spectrum in frequency domain, and farther more to select samples for neural networks training by means of least-squares algorithm between real measuring signal and deterministic signals under laboratory condition. By seeking optimization with the algorithm, the parameters representing characteristic of the porcelain object are selected, while the stochastic interfere be weakened, then study for detection on neural networks is developed based on processing above.
Design and Implementation of Bioluminescence Signal Analysis Tool

The term molecular imaging can be broadly defined as the in vivo characterization and measurement of biologic processes at the cellular and molecular level. Optical imaging that has highly reproducibility and repetition used in molecular imaging research. In the bioluminescence imaging, animals carrying the luciferase gene are imaged with a cooled CCD(Charge-Coupled Device) camera to pick up the small number of photons transmitted through tissues. Molecular imaging analysis will allow us to observe the incipience and progression of the disease. But hardware device for molecular imaging and software for molecular image analysis were dependent on imports. In this paper, we suggest image processing methods and designed software for bioluminescence signal analysis. And we demonstrated high correlation(r=0.99) between our software's photon counts and commercial software's photon counts. ROI function and processing functions were accomplished without error. This study have the importance of the development software for bioluminescence image processing and analysis. And this study built the foundations for creative development of analysis methods. We expected this study lead the development of image technology.
Segmentation of Liver Regions in the Abdominal CT Image by Multi-threshold and Watershed Algorithm

In this paper, we proposed a liver extracting procedure for computer aided liver diagnosis system. Extraction of liver region in an abdominal CT image is difficult due to interferences of other organs. For this reason, liver region is extracted in a region of interest(ROI). ROI is selected by the window which can measure the distribution of Hounsfield Unit(HU) value of liver region in an abdominal CT image. The distribution is measured by an existential probability of HU value of lever region in the window. If the probability of any window is over 50%, the center point of the window would be assigned to ROI. Actually, liver region is not clearly discerned from the adjacent organs like muscle, spleen, and pancreas in an abdominal CT image. Liver region is extracted by the watershed segmentation algorithm which is effective in this situation. Because it is very sensitive to the slight valiance of contrast, it generally produces over segmentation regions. Therefore these regions are required to merge into the significant regions for optimal segmentation. Finally, a liver region can be selected and extracted by prier information based on anatomic information.
Digital Watermarking for Copyright Protection of 3-D CAD Design Drawing Based on Vector Data Using Digital Watermarking

There has been more increased the development of 3D technique since many 3D contents of 3D graphic model, 3D mobile/computer game, and 3D CAD have been serviced in Web or industry fields. Therefore, the watermarking system is more required to protect the copyright for 3D contents. Currently there has been researched about the watermarking for 3D graphic model of mesh or NURBS. However, watermarking technique based on CAD design drawing leaves something to be desired yet. This paper proposed the watermarking technique for 3D CAD design drawing using Line and Arc components. After drawing out Line and Arc components from designed drawing, we embed the watermark into both the length of Line component and the radius of Arc component. Experimental results verified that the proposed algorithm satisfies the transparency about watermarked drawing and also has the robustness against several attacks by using public CAD tool.
SOC Verification Based on WGL

The growing market of multimedia and digital signal processing requires significant data-path portions of SoCs. However, the common models for verification are not suitable for SoCs. A novel model--WGL (Weighted Generalized List) is proposed, which is based on the general-list decomposition of polynomials, with three different weights and manipulation rules introduced to effect node sharing and the canonicity. Timing parameters and operations on them are also considered. Examples show the word-level WGL is the only model to linearly represent the common word-level functions and the bit-level WGL is especially suitable for arithmetic intensive circuits. The model is proved to be a uniform and efficient model for both bit-level and word-level functions. Then Based on the WGL model, a backward-construction logic-verification approach is presented, which reduces time and space complexity for multipliers to polynomial complexity(time complexity is less than
and space complexity is less than
) without hierarchical partitioning. Finally, a construction methodology of word-level polynomials is also presented in order to implement complex high-level verification, which combines order computation and coefficient solving, and adopts an efficient backward approach. The construction complexity is much less than the existing ones, e.g. the construction time for multipliers grows at the power of less than 1.6 in the size of the input word without increasing the maximal space required. The WGL model and the verification methods based on WGL show their theoretical and applicable significance in SoC design.
Efficient Native Processing Modules for Interactive DTV Middleware Based on the Small Footprint Set-Top Box

The concept of middleware for digital TV receivers is not new one. Using middleware for digital TV development has a number of advantages. It makes it easier for manufacturers to hide differences in the underlying hardware. It also offers a standard platform for application developers. Digital TV middleware enables set-top boxes(STBs) to run video, audio, and applications. The main concern of digital TV middleware is now to reduce its memory usage because most STBs in the market are small footprint. In this paper, we propose several ideas about how to reduce the required memory size on the runtime area of DTV middleware using a new native process technology. Our proposed system has two components; the Efficient Native Process Module, and Enhanced Native Interface APIs for concurrent native modules. With our approach, the required memory reduced from 50% up to 75% compared with the traditional approach. It can be suitable for low end STBs of very low hardware limitation.
Application of the Correlation Technique to Electromagnetic Ultrasonic Nondestructive Evaluation: Theoretical Study and Computer Simulation

A new frequency-modulated m-sequence correlation technique was described. It has. been seen that the frequency modulation scheme leads to higher signal-to-noise ratio than direct sequencing and less hardware effort than PSK modulation scheme. The operating frequency of the correlation system was deduced. The optimal frequency for the frequency-modulated m-sequence correlation system should be 1.35 times of the center frequency of the transducer. The application of this correlation technique to electromagnetic ultrasonic system was computer-simulated.
A New Approach to Solve the Rate Control Problem in Wired-cum-Wireless Networks

In this paper, we propose a new optimization approach to the rate control problem in a wired-cum-wireless network. A primal-dual interior-point(PDIP) algorithm is used to find the solution of the rate optimization problem. We show a comparison between the dual-based(DB) algorithm and PDIP algorithm for solving the rate control problem in the wired-cum-wireless network. The PDIP algorithm performs much better than the DB algorithm. The PDIP can be considered as an attractive method to solve the rate control problem in network. We also present a numerical example and simulation to illustrate our conclusions.
An Efficient Renewal Mechanism of Group Key Employing the Fiat-Shamir Method on Mobile Communications

Renewal of the group key on the mobile communication needs it can be not re-shared by all members of the group with the exception of excluded members but also prevented from making a fraudulent use of group key due to leakage of security information for terminal. In this paper, we propose an efficient renewal mechanism of group key in order for all members of the group to be able to get digital information and to perform the renewal of group key employing the Fiat-Shamir method. It can guarantee the security of a group key since a terminal renews a group key by using security information of an excluded terminal and the previous group key.
A Study for Success Factors in On-line Games

The last few years have represented a boom for the online gaming industry. Internet-based online games have been an increasingly popular form of entertainment. The gaming industry estimates there will be over 26 million online gaming participants in 2002. The rapid development of online game content and related information technology will increase the size of the industry and have a profound impact on many aspects of our lives and our society. This paper develops the exploratory LISREL model for identifying the factors affecting the players' loyalty to a specific brand of online game. The concepts of flow, word of mouth, feedback, challenge, social norms, and online community activities, etc, are all introduced into the model, as the independent variables directly and indirectly affecting loyalty. Based on data collected from an online survey, the validity of the model has been tested and interesting conclusions have been developed concerning the relationships between loyalty and flow, word of mouth, and other independent variables. It is hoped that this result might provide useful guidelines for developing successful online game content.
Design and Implementation of the RF Systems for Bi-directional Wireless Capsule Endoscopes

This paper explains that the RF systems for hi-directional wireless capsule endoscopes were designed and implemented. The designed RF systems for a capsule endoscope can transmit the images of intestines from the inside to the outside of a body and the behavior of the capsules can be controlled by an external controller simultaneously. The hi-directional wireless capsule endoscope consists of a CMOS image sensor, FPGA, LED, battery, DC to DC Converter, transmitter, receiver, and antennas. The transmitter and receiver which were used in the hi-directional capsule endoscope, were designed and fabricated with
dimensions taking into the MPE, power consumption, system size, signal to noise ratio and modulation method. The RF systems designed and implemented for the hi-directional wireless capsule endoscopes system were verified by in-vivo experiments. As a result, the RF systems for the hi-directional wireless capsule endoscopes satisfied the design specifications.
A GIS Search Technique through Reduction of Digital Map and Ontologies

GIS systems have gradually been utilized in life information as well as special businesses such as traffic, sight-seeing, tracking, and disaster services. Most GIS services focus on showing stored information on maps, not providing a service to register and modify their preferred information. In this paper, we present a new method which reduces DXF map data into Simple Geographic Information File format using format conversion algorithms. We also present the prototype implementation of a GIS search system based on ontologies to support associated information. Our contribution is to propose a new digital map format to provide a fast map loading service and individual customized information on the map service.
Nonlinear Blind Equalizer Using Hybrid Genetic Algorithm and RBF Networks

A nonlinear channel blind equalizer by using a hybrid genetic algorithm, which merges a genetic algorithm with simulated annealing, and a RBF network is presented. In this study, a hybrid genetic algorithm is used to estimate the output states of a nonlinear channel, based on the Bayesian likelihood fitness function, instead of the channel parameters. From these estimated output states, the desired channel states of the nonlinear channel are derived and placed at the center of a RBF equalizer to reconstruct transmitted symbols. In the simulations, binary signals are generated at random with Gaussian noise. The performance of the proposed method is compared with those of a conventional genetic algorithm(GA) and a simplex GA, and the relatively high accuracy and fast convergence of the method are achieved.
Interprocedural Transformations for Parallel Computing

Since the most program execution time is consumed in a loop structure, extracting parallelism from loop programs is critical for the taster program execution. In this paper, we proposed data dependency removal method for a single loop. The data dependency removal method can be applied to uniform and non-uniform data dependency distance in the single loop. Procedure calls parallelisms with only a single loop structure or procedure call most of other methods are concerned with the uniform code within the uniform data dependency distance. We also propose an algorithm, which can be applied to uniform, non-uniform, and complex data dependency distance among the multiple procedures. We compared our method with conventional methods using CRAY-T3E for the performance evaluation. The results show that the proposed algorithm is effective.
Method of Profile Storage for Improving Accuracy and Searching Time on Ubiquitous Computing

Users are able to use the information and service more free than previous wire network due to development of wireless network and device. For this reason, various studies on ubiquitous networks have been conducted. Various contexts brought in this ubiquitous environment, have recognized user's action through sensors. This results in the provision of better services. Because services exist in various places in ubiquitous networks, the application has the time of services searching. In addition, user's context is very dynamic, so a method needs to be found to recommend services to user by context. Therefore, techniques for reducing the time of service and increasing accuracy of recommendation are being studied. But it is difficult to quickly and appropriately provide large numbers of services, because only basic context information is stored. For this reason, we suggest DUPS(Dimension User Profile System), which stores location, time, and frequency information of often used services. Because previous technique used to simple information for recommending service without predicting services which is going to use on future, we can provide better service, and improve accuracy over previous techniques.
