Implementation of information access embedded system using two-dimensional bar code and TTS

As two dimensional bar code can collect data and information quickly, it is used and recognized as a useful tool for the many industrial application field. But the information capacity of two dimensional bar code is still limited. Recently, the two dimensional AD bar code (analog-digital code) that can increase its application range and overcome capacity limitation is developed. In this paper, we implement an effective system which can transform text information into voice using two dimensional AD bar code and TTS(Text To Speech). It can be transmitted to blind people by capturing the AD bar code on the papers or the books.
Performance Analysis on Error Correction Scheme for Wireless Sensor Network over Node-to-node Interference

In this paper, we study a problem of providing reliable data transmission in wireless sensor network(WSN). A system with forward error correction9FEC) can provide an objective reliability while using less transmission power than a system without FEC. We propose the use of LDPC codes of various code rate (0.53, 0.81, 0.91) of FEC for WSN. Node-node-node interference is considered in the simulation in addition to AWGN in the channel. It is shown that the rate of 0.91 LDPC coded system obtained 7dB gain in signal to noise ratio over a system without FEC.
Multimedia Room Bridge Adapter for Seamless Interoperability between Heterogeneous Home Network Devices

A home network is a typical ubiquitous computing network that consists of various consumer devices and service environments. Home networks are requiring increasingly more complicated services, such as multimedia home theater and the monitoring and controlling of heterogeneous devices. Accordingly, a mutually connecting mechanism is needed among heterogeneous devices and services redundant. The current paper presents a Multimedia Room Bridge Adapter (MRBA) system that is designed to manage heterogeneous devices and support various services. In addition, a hardware and software prototype is implemented based on the proposed architecture.
A Framework Development for Total Management of Various Embedded Devices

In this paper, we propose the integrated security management framework supporting the trust for the ubiquitous environments. The proposed framework provides the gathering and analysis of the security related information including the location of mobile device and then dynamically configures the security policy and adopts them. More specially, it supports the authentication and delegation service to support the trusted security management for the ubiquitous networks. This system also provides the visible management tools to give the convenient view for network administrator.
A Dynamic ACK Generation Scheme to Improve Web Traffic Performance over Satellite Internet

The long propagation delay over satellite internet causes degradation of TCP performance in slow start phase. Especially, web traffic performance is greatly reduced by low throughput in slow start phase. To improve web traffic performance, we propose the Dynamic ACK Generation Scheme which generates ACKs and considers sender RTO in PEP (Performance Enhancing Proxy). The Normal ACK generation mechanism improves TCP throughput, and also decreases sender RTO. if PEP stops generating ACKs, TCP performance will be reduced by frequent RTO expiration. To solve this problem, our scheme adjusts RTO using ACK generation interval. And it supports retransmission mechanism for loss recovery in PEP. The results of the performance analysis provide a good evidence to demonstrate the efficiency of our mechanisms over satellite internet.
Design of the Adaptive SIP Application Server System Architecture supporting SIP-based Session Mobility over the Home Network configured with Private IP

The home network is generally separated from the Internet, as it is made up of a private network due to security issues and the lack of IPv4 addresses space. Also, a user may want to move from a terminal to another terminal connected in the home network during communicating with people outside the home. In this case, people connected in the Internet, or another home network could not communicate the user at the home. These limitations prevent a SIP-capable device connected in the home network from communicating with another SIP-capable device connected in the Internet or the outside of the home network. To overcome the limitations, This paper proposes the Adaptive SIP Application Server System as a software architecture that a user inside of the home can communicate with people outside of the home when the home is composed of a private IP-based network. Moreover, the proposed architecture provides the session mobility that allows the user to maintain a media session even if changing the terminal inside of the home during the session established. The proposed system was implemented over a home server device which acts functionality as a connection point for transmitting IP packets between a home network and the Internet.

It appears that it is possible for us to make a wireless communication of even home-network system within car by integrating with the Ubiquitous such as mobile phone, wireless Internet, GPS and DMB in the future. If the present wireless surroundings within the car are connected with very high-speed wireless network as measurement system for wireless communication surroundings within this car in the future, it will develop the complicated communication conditions such as safe checkup, communication between systems within car, and wireless communication for user entertainment unlike universal communication conditions. Accordingly, there is the necessity of the device that can measure the interference of electric wave, communication speed and communication quality by a kind of each car. This paper aims at making the real measurement device to raise the reliability of each Application for inquiring into the interference about each other in the frequency band used under Telematics surroundings.
A New File System for Multimedia Data Stream

There are many file systems in various operating systems. Those are usually designed for server environments, where the common cases are usually 'multiple active users', 'great many small files' And they assume a big main memory to be used as buffer cache. So the existing file systems are not suitable for resource hungry embedded systems that process multimedia data streams. In this study, we designed and implemented a new file system which efficiently stores and retrieves multimedia data steams. The proposed file system has a very simple disk layout, which guarantees a quick disk initialization and file system recovery. And we introduced a new indexing-scheme, called the time-based indexing scheme, with the file system. With the indexing scheme, the file system maintains the relation between time and the location for all the multimedia streams. The scheme is useful in searching and playing the compressed multimedia streams by locating exact frame position with given time, resulting in reduction of CPU processing and power consumption. The proposed file system and its APIs utilizing the time-based indexing schemes were implemented firstly on a Linux environment, though it is operating system independent. In the performance evaluation on a real DVR system, which measured the execution time of multi-threaded reading and writing, we found the proposed file system is maximum 38.7% faster than EXT2 file system.
Improvement of Hierarchical Routing in ZigBee Networks

ZigBee is the emerging industrial standard for ad hoc networks based on IEEE 802.15.4. It is used for low data rate and low power wireless network applications. Expected applications of ZigBee include wireless sensor networks for remote monitoring, home control, and industrial automation. Since one of the most important design goals of ZigBee is to reduce the installation and running costs, the ZigBee stack is embedded in the cheap and small micro-controller unit. The hierarchical routing algorithm is used for ZigBee end devices which have very limited resources. Using the block addressing scheme, end devices can send data to the destination without a routing table. However, hierarchical routing has the problem that the packets follow the tree hierarchy to the destination even if the destination is located nearby. In this paper, we propose a scheme to improve the hierarchical routing algorithm in ZigBee networks by employing the neighbor table that is originally used together with the routing table. We suggest selecting the neighbor node that has the minimum remaining hops to the destination as the next hop node. Simulation result shows that the proposed scheme saves more than 30% of the hop counts compared with the original hierarchical routing.
