Spectrum Analysis of UWB Radar Transmitter for Short Range Automobile Applications

In this paper, we propose structures and power spectral densities of UWB radar transmitters of Short Range Automobile. While the conventional transmitters did not consider interferences from self and other automobiles, the proposed method of this paper can minimize interferences. First, we compare a structure of the proposed method with pulse train and pulse compression method. Then, by using mathematical analysis and computer simulations, we show that the proposed method is superior to others. Also we can set proper parameters in UWB radar's transmitter through the numerical method of mathematical results.
A Speaker Pruning Method for Real-Time Speaker Identification System

It has been known that GMM (Gaussian Mixture Model) based speaker identification systems using ML (Maximum Likelihood) and WMR (Weighting Model Rank) demonstrate very high performances. However, such systems are not so effective under practical environments, in terms of real time processing, because of their high calculation costs. In this paper, we propose a new speaker-pruning algorithm that effectively reduces the calculation cost. In this algorithm, we select 20% of speaker models having higher likelihood with a part of input speech and apply MWMR (Modified Weighted Model Rank) to these selected speaker models to find out identified speaker. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, we performed speaker identification experiments using TIMIT database. The proposed method shows more than 60% improvement of reduced processing time than the conventional GMM based system with no pruning, while maintaining the recognition accuracy.
Dynamic Culling Scheme Based on Altitude for Real-Time Rendering System

Dynamic culling scheme is usually implemented to handle overhead caused by rendering the massive large-scale terrain data in flight simulator. However, existing culling scheme without considering altitude is not suitable for flight simulator due to additional computational overhead. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose hybrid approach by applying two dynamic culling schemes depending on altitude. In addition, we remove unnessary computational overhead by creating different z-map resolution when aircraft changes its altitude. The proposed scheme is implemented with open graphic library and tested with real terrain data. Through the experimental results, we can recognize the improved rendering speed about 8 to 73 percents as compared to existing scheme.
An Asymmetry Matrix Transposition Scheme based on NAND Flash Memory

In this paper, we proposed a new matrix transposition scheme, called asymmetry sub-matrix, and conducted the in-depth performance evaluation of the proposed scheme with other prior schemes, including element-major, row-major and sub-matrix schemes in large-scale matrix. In our results, the proposed asymmetry sub-matrix scheme shows the best performance compared to other prior schemes, while sub-matrix scheme shows the second best performance.
Study on the Low Power Service with User State Recognition Algorithm Using Sensors

The electric power consumed by the embedded devices has become a critical issue because the reduction of power consumption is an important factor to prolong the battery-operated devices' lifetime. Many researches and techniques to reduce the power consumption have been proposed and developed but any power method cannot guarantee optimal power consumption of an embedded device - it would be faced with numerous situation - in all ways. Specifically, power researches for embedded devices deployed in the industry field have hardly been done. In this paper, low power service is proposed to minimize power reduction with the several usage status of embedded devices in the industry field. The usage status is basically classified according to the distance between the device and the user which is obtained by the ultrasonic and PIR sensor. The performance evaluation shows that the proposed scheme can reduce the power consumption by up to 45.3% compared to the device with no power reduction scheme. It also shows that the power consumption of the proposed scheme is 5.2% ~ 16.8% lower than that of the timeout scheme.
Traffic Light Detection Method in Image Using Geometric Analysis Between Traffic Light and Vision Sensor

In this paper, a robust traffic light detection method is proposed by using vision sensor and DGPS(Difference Global Positioning System). The conventional vision-based detection methods are very sensitive to illumination change, for instance, low visibility at night time or highly reflection by bright light. To solve these limitations in visual sensor, DGPS is incorporated to determine the location and shape of traffic lights which are available from traffic light database. Furthermore the geometric relationship between traffic light and vision sensor is used to locate the traffic light in the image by using DGPS information. The empirical results show that the proposed method improves by 51% in detection rate for night time with marginal improvement in daytime environment.
Development of Dementia Screening Application Using Urine Test and Bionic Sensors

In this paper, we have developed smart-phone App(application) for screening Dementia using bionic sensors, urine test and questionnaire. Since small amounts of urinary protein strongly predict faster cognitive decline in the elderly, smart-phone based urinalysis is adopted to screen dementia more accurately as well as bionic sensors such as
and HRV(Heart Rate Variability). Firstly, DI(Dementia Index) is calculated from urinalysis, two bionic sensors and electric questionnaire, and then compared to the threshold from clinical test. Finally the results of Dementia screening is shown in your smart-phone and useful information to prevent or relieve Dementia is also given. We performed simple testing on persons aged over 60 and found out the proposed application can be useful devices for screening Dementia easily and quickly.
