Load Unbalancing Scheduling Method for Energy-Efficient Multi-core Embedded Systems

We proposed a load unbalancing scheduling method for energy-efficient multi-core embedded systems considering DVFS (Dynamic Voltage/Frequency Scaling) power consumption and task characteristics. It is a new kind of scheduler which combines load balancing and load unbalancing technique. The purpose of the method is to effectively utilize energy without much effect in performance. In this paper, we conduct experiments on energy consumption and performance using the previous load balancing and unbalancing techniques and our proposed technique. The proposed technique reduced energy consumption more than 13.7% when compared to other algorithms. As a result, the proposed technique shows low energy consumption without much decline in the performance and is adequate for energy-efficient multi-core embedded systems.
Method to Limit The Spread of Data in Wireless Content-Centric Network

Since Devices such labtop, tablet, smartphone have been developed, a lots of huge data that can be classified as content is flooded in the network. According to changing Internet usage, Content-Centric Network(CCN) what is new concept of Internet Architecture is appeared. Initially, CCN is studied on wired network. but recently, CCN is also studied on wireless network. Since a characteristic of wireless environment is different from a characteristic of wired environment, There are issues in wireless CCN. In this paper, we discuss improvement method of Data spread issue on wireless CCN. The proposed scheme of this paper use MAC Address of nodes when Interest and Data Packet are forwarded. As using the proposed scheme, we reduce the spread of Data and offer priority of forwarding to nodes of shortest path, reduce delay by modifying retransmission waiting time.
Smart Dairy Management System Development Using Biometric/Environmental Sensors and Farm Control Gateway

Recently, the u-IT applications for plants and livestock become larger and control of livestock farm environment has been used important in the field of industry. We implemented wireless sensor networks and farm environment automatic control system for applying to the breeding barn environment by calculating the THI index. First, we gathered environmental information like livestock object temperature, heart rate and momentum. And we also collected the farm environment data including temperature, humidity and illuminance for calculating the THI index. Then we provide accurate control action roof open and electric fan in of intelligent farm to keep the best state automatically by using collected data. We believed this technology can improve industrial competitiveness through the u-IT based smart integrated management system introduction for industry aversion and dairy industries labor shortages due to hard work and old ageing.
Development of An Integrated Display Software Platform for Small UAV with Parallel Processing Technique

An integrated display software platform for small UAV is developed based on parallel processing technique in this paper. When the small UAV with high-performance camera and avionic modules is employed to various surveillance-related missions, it is important to reduce the operator's workload and increase the monitoring efficiency. For this purpose, it is needed to develop an efficient monitoring software enable to manipulate the image and flight data obtained during flight within the given processing time and display them simultaneously. In this paper, we set up requirements and suggest the architecture for the software platform. The integrated software platform is implemented with parallel processing scheme. Based on AR drone, we verified that the various data are concurrently displayed by the suggest software platform.
Mutual Interference-resilient Vehicular Spread Spectrum Radar Using ZCZ Code

We propose vehicular spread spectrum (SS) radar robust to mutual interference using zero correlation zone (ZCZ) code. SS radar schemes have been employed for vehicular radar systems due to their outstanding correlation property. However, this superiority is based on a premise that timing among codes is completely synchronized. In the practical driving environment, timing mismatch among radar signals is inevitable because the radar signals of several vehicles are independently transmitted at each different location and each timing and thus each radar signal is received at different timing. This timing offset is the main cause of orthogonality destruction among codes and thus radar signals from other vehicles become mutual interference. In order to solve this problem, we find out the new property of ZCZ code which maintains the complete orthogonality except to timing offset corresponding to chips (pulses) of multiple of 4 and employ ZCZ code to SS radar systems. Simulation results show the proposed scheme achieve better performance compared with the conventional SS radar scheme using pseudo code or gold code.
Display Synchronization Scheme for Flight Simulator Considering Frame Per Second

According to general architecture of flight simulator made up of several independent rendering display systems, display synchronization problem between them naturally happens. In addition, since the flight simulator is usually implemented in the same networks where network delay is not big concern, it is necessary to consider different factors of existing synchronization technique. Among them, in this paper, we propose a new display synchronization scheme for flight simulator where each system has different rendering capacity. In the proposed scheme, each system is synchronized by considering maximum and minimum frames per second (FPS) while considering level of detail and latency. Also, experimental results are given to demonstrate the suitability of the proposed scheme for display synchronization scheme.
Design of CC2540-based Route Guidance System for Visually Impaired Person

There are many assistive devices for the visually impaired. They are becoming smart. In this paper, we propose a device that help route guidance for a visually impaired person. It is composed of a smart phone, cane, and hands-free devices. The smart phone helps a route guidance. The cane detects an obstacle and transmits it to the hands-free device. The hands-free device communicates with a visually impaired person. We here present their architecture, signal flow, configuration, and their circuit diagrams.
