An Efficient Software Update Technique with Code-Banking & Delta-Image for Wireless Sensor Networks

Software update has been regarded as one of fundamental functions in wireless sensor networks. It can disseminate a delta-image between a current software image operating on a sensor node and its new image in order to reduce an update image(transmission data) size, resultantly saving energy. In addition, code-banking capability of micro-controllers can decrease the update image size. In order to maximize the efficiency of the software update, the proposed scheme exploits both the delta-image and the code-banking at the same time. Besides, it additionally delivers a recovery delta-image to properly handle abnormal conditions, such as message corruptions and unexpected power-off during the update.
A Robot of Animal-Assisted-Therapy for the Psychotherapy of Handicapped Child

An animal assisted therapy (AAT) for handicapped child's psychotherapy has been reported by some researches. A robot can be substituted for the role of a real animal of the AAT. The robot for the AAT is called RAT (Robot Assisted Therapy). It consists of four parts: microprocessor-based MCU(Micro Control Unit), sensing part with various sensors, the movement part operated by some motors, and the exterior with soft feel. We will here introduce the RAT.
Performance Enhancement of Soccer Robot System by Changing Color Patch

This paper proposes a novel method to enhance performance of soccer robot system using optimal color patch mounted on the robot. In soccer robot system, the position and orientation of the robot can be estimated with color patch under real time environment. However, the location estimation of the robot is very sensitive to the pattern of color patch. In addition, pattern recognition and navigation algorithm are operated independently to reduce the operation time. The experimental results show that the proposed pattern of patch is effective to reduce the position and orientation error of the robot.
Design and Implement a Gateway Based on Mobile Device and a Web Monitoring System for u-Healthcare Service

There are already many researches providing u-Healthcare service, but they have left problems to be improved. First of all, the transmission range between sensor nodes and the gateway are restricted. Hence, patients feel uncomfortable because of they need to possess or locate closed to a gateway all the time when they aggregates their medical data. Also, the existing systems have not considered life environment that is important to analyze patient's diseases. Moreover, a guardian need to located close to patient or possess a mobile device that monitors a patients' status in real time when they are in outdoor. In this research, we present multi-hop packet transfer algorithm and compilation of life environment which help improve the problem of the existing researches. Likewise, we designed and implemented a medical information database and a real-time web monitoring system that manage patients' personal history and monitor a patients' status in real time. In this paper, we design and implement the u-Healthcare system based on mobile environment and we present a result when we tested our u-Healthcare system in scenario environment.
Flash Memory System for Solid-state Disk by Using Various Memory Cells

We present a flash memory system with low cost and high performance for solid-state disk. The proposed flash system is constructed as a SLC with hot blocks and a MLC with cold blocks. Either the SLC or the MLC is selectively accessed on the basis of a position bit in a mapping table. Our results show that the system enables the SLC size to be reduced by about 80% relative to a conventional SLC while maintaining similar performance. And also, our system can improve a performance by above 60% comparing with a conventional MLC.
Context Awareness Reasoning System for Personalized Services in Ubiquitous Mobile Environments

This paper proposed the context awareness reasoning system to provide the personalized services dynamically in a ubiquitous mobile environments. The proposed system is designed to provide the personalized services to mobile users and consists of the context aggregator and the knowledge manager. The context aggregator can collect information from networks through Open API Gateway as well as sensors in a various ubiquitous environment. And it can also extract the place types through the geocoding and the social address domain ontology. The knowledge manager is the core component to provide the personalized services, and consists of activity reasoner, user pattern learner and service recommender to provide the services predict by extracting the optimized service from user situations. Activity reasoner uses the ontology reasoning and user pattern learner learns with previous service usage history and contexts. And to design service recommender easy to flexibly apply in dynamic environments, service recommender recommends service in the only use of current accessible contexts. Finally, we evaluate the learner and recommender of proposed system by simulation.
