Development of Hardware Platform and Embedded Software for Designing Automotive FMCW Radar System

In this paper, we design the hardware platform and implement the embedded software based on the FPGA and the DSP for the automotive 77GHz FMCW radar system. This embedded software is built into the DSP as the multi-tasking architecture to support the basic target detection algorithm and the Ethernet link. The designed GUI(Graphic User Interface) provides ability to adjust parameters associated with the radar performance, to monitor signal processing results, and to download the raw received signal. The designed platform can be used to develop the optimal detection algorithms for the various applications.
On the Design of an Efficient Mobile Robot Framework by Using Collaborative Sensor Fusion

There are many researches in unmanned vehicles such as UGV(Unmanned Ground Vehicle), AUV(Autonomous Underwater Vehicle). In these researches, differential wheeled mobile robots are mainly used to develop the experimental stage algorithm because of the simplicity of modeling and control. Usually a commercial product used in the study, but in order to operate a commercial product to the restrictions because there would need to use a fixed protocol. Using the microprocessor makes the internal sensors(encoder and INS) and external sensors(ultrasonic sensors, infrared sensors) operate and to determine commands for robot operation. This paper propose a mobile robot design for suitable purpose.
Intelligent Technique Application for Autonomous Lateral Position Control of an Unmanned 4 Wheel Steered Snowplow Robotic Vehicle

This paper presents an intelligent control approach for lateral position control of an autonomous four wheel steered snowplowing robotic vehicle. The vehicle is built for removing snow on the highway. Dynamics of the vehicle is derived and linearized for LQR control. Lateral position is controlled by the LQR method first, then the neural network control technique is introduced to improve tracking performances under the presence of load. The feasibility of using four wheel steering control is investigated by simulation studies of lateral position tracking of the Ford F-250 truck model. Performances of a LQR control method and a neural network control method under virtual snowplowing situation are compared.
An Implementation and Performance Test of Automotive RTOS Based on OSEK/VDX

As the architecture of automotive software is complicated and LOC of software increases, there is an increasing demand for standard operating system. OSEK/VDX defines an industry standard for automotive operating system and middleware. This paper introduces an implementation of RTOS(OSCAR-OSEK) based on OSEK/VDX standard. For better speed of scheduling, we suggest a new method for ready queue implementation considering the characteristic of automotive application software. Also we introduce a method for improving the portability of RTOS on various MCUs. And, we show OSCAR-OSEK implementation and performance test results.
Compensating Transmission Delay and Packet Loss in Networked Control System for Unmanned Underwater Vehicle

Transmission delay and packet loss induced by a communication network can degrade the control performance and, even make the system unstable. This paper presents a method for compensating transmission delay and packet loss in a networked control system for unmanned underwater vehicle. The proposed method is based on Lagrange interpolation in order to satisfy the requirements of simplicity and model-independency. In this work, the lost/delayed data are estimated in real time by only using the past data without requiring any mathematical model of the controlled system. Consequently, the proposed method can be implemented independent of the controlled system, and also it can achieve fast and accurate compensation performance. The performance of the proposed technique is evaluated by numerical simulations with an unmanned underwater vehicle.
Development of Sensor Fusion-Based Low-Speed Short-Distance Collision Warning Algorithm for Urban Area

Although vehicles become more intelligent for convenience and safety of drivers, traffic accidents are increased more and more. Especially, car-to-car single rear impacts in the urban area are increased rapidly because of driver inattention. To prevent rear impacts in the urban area, commercial automobile vendor applies the low-speed short-distance collision warning system. This paper presents low-speed short-distance collision warning algorithm for the city driving by using sensor fusion of laser sensor and ultrasonic sensor. An experiment using embedded microprocessor in the driving track was used to demonstrate the feasibility of the collision warning algorithm.
Optical Image Hiding Technique using Real-Valued Decoding Key

In this paper, an optical image hiding technique using real-valued decoding key is proposed. In the embedding process, a each zero-padded original image placed in a quadrants on an input plane is multiplied by a statistically independent random phase pattern and is Fourier transformed. An encoded image is obtained by taking the real-valued data from the Fourier transformed image. And then a phase-encoded pattern, used as a hidden image and a decoding key, is generated by the use of multiple phase wrapping from the encoded images. A transmitted image is made from the linear superposition of the weighted hidden images and a cover image. In reconstruction process, the mirror reconstructed images can be obtained at two quadrants by the inverse-Fourier transform of the product of the transmitted image and the decoding key. Computer simulation and optical experiment are demonstrated in order to confirm the proposed technique.
The Design of Intelligent Real Sound Play Flatform and Service Based-on User's Information

Conventional home audio system (e.g. AV Receiver, CD Player etc) has a various functionality of audio play, channel mixing, but the remote controller of these audio players is too complex, difficult for user to manage them effectively. Users want to use these functionalities with more easy, comprehensible way. In this study, "intelligent real-sound presentation technology" that support high quality, realistic audio and the "design of complex information and controller of real sound using intelligent real sound play and control interface" will be introduced. So user can actively, realistically enjoy and play real sound based on user's preference, emotion and circumstance, instead of user's passive service.
Building Custom Development Environment for Improving the Utilization Efficiency of Embedded Software Development Tools

For the rapid development of embedded software, a variety of development tools have been developed. But, the embedded software developers do not use the available tools fluently and do not improve software productivity as expect because there are short of supporting utilization convenience of development tools. In this paper, we suggest a tool of building custom development environment for improving the utilization convenience of embedded software development tools. The custom development environment helps developers to rapid selection and access of appropriate tools required to develop the embedded software on the specific embedded system. In addition, it enables developers to handle the outputs from development tools associatively. Moreover it is very flexible in extension and integration because it's implementation based on Eclipse technology. We also perform the evaluation of our tool and successfully validate the utilization convenience of embedded development tools. Therefore, we expect that this tool enables developers to use the embedded development tools efficiently, and then it help improving embedded software productivity.
Design and Implementation of an Unified Cursor Considering Synchronization on the Android Mobile Platform

Android platform provides a content provider and a cursor mechanism to access the internal SQLite engine. Content providers not only store and retrieve data but also make it accessible to applications. Applications can only share data through content provider, since there's no common storage area that Android packages can access. Cursor is an interface that provides random read-write access to the result set returned by a database query. However, this cursor possesses two major limitations. First, a cursor does not support a join clause among cursors, since the cursor can only access a single table in the content provider. Second, the cursor is not capable of creating user-customized field in the predefined content providers. In this paper, we propose the unified cursor architecture that merges several cursors into a single virtual cursor. Cursor translation look-aside buffer (TLB), column windowing mechanism and virtual data management are the three major techniques we have adopted to implement our structure. And we also propose a delayed synchronization method between an application and a proposed unified cursor. An application can create a user-customized field and sort multiple tables using a unified cursor on Android platform.
