Design and Implementation of a Wireless Sensor Network Protocol for a Smart Power Outlet System

This paper deals with the design and implementation of wireless sensor network protocol for smart power outlet system capable of fire detection, power monitoring, standby power cutoff, and home automation. The proposed protocol integrates both the CSMA and the TDMA protocols for low power consumption and good scalability. A prototype smart power outlet system employing the proposed protocol and a simple home automation network including the power outlet system have been implemented for evaluating the feasibility of the proposed protocol The result shows that the proposed protocol allows the power outlet system to be scalable with high power efficiency.

In this paper, a real-time monitoring system based on WSN is designed and implemented to monitor livestock growth environment information which includes the temperature, humidity and harmful gases such as
and so on. The proposed system consists of the wireless sensor nodes, the monitoring management device, the management server and the user interface program based on PC/Smart phone. To verify the performance of the implemented system, gas measurement experiments are performed in laboratory environment by using the designed wireless sensor nodes. And it is able to estimate the concentration of gases. The implemented system is able to monitor the proposed environmental element information through the developed GUI.
A Real-Time Simulation Framework for Incremental Development of Cyber-Physical Systems

When developing a CPS, since it is nature of CPS to interact with a physical system, CPS should be verified during its development process by real-time simulation supporting timely interactions between the simulator and existing implemented hardwares. Furthermore, when a part of a simulated system is implemented to real hardwares, i.e., incremental development, the simulator should aware changes of the simulated system and apply it automatically without manual description of the changes for effective development. For this, we suggest a real-time simulation framework including the concept of `port` which abstracts communication details between the tasks, and a scheduling algorithm for guaranteeing `real-time correctness` of the simulator.
Data-centric Sensor Middleware for Heterogeneous Sensor Networks

Wireless sensor networks need middleware system for efficiently managing the constrained resource and sensing data because they need different sensing data type and protocol to communicate with heterogeneous sensor networks. Thus this paper proposes data-centric sensor middleware for heterogeneous sensor networks. The proposed middleware have to support various query processing of user applications, high-level request of users, manage heterogeneous sensor systems and universal sensing data type for node and user application.
A Wireless Sensor Network for Artificial Structure Monitoring

This paper presents a wireless sensor network protocol aimed for artificial structure monitoring. The proposed protocol enables the sensor network to operate at a low duty cycle for reducing power consumption with a high degree of synchronization accuracy. It also enables event-triggered measurement of environmental information with a high sampling rate and the transmission of the measured data with a low latency. The feasibility of the proposed protocol is demonstrated through experiments involving three sensor nodes and a sink node. Though a tunnel health monitoring was considered in the paper, the proposed protocol can be easily adopted in other areas.
Emphasizing Intelligent Event Processing Cooperative Surveillance System

Security and monitoring system has many applications and commonly used for detection, warning, alarm, etc. As the networking technology advances, user requirements are getting higher. An intelligent and cooperative surveillance system is proposed to meet current user demands and improve the performance. This paper focuses on the implementation issue for the embedded intelligent surveillance system. To cover wide area cooperative function is implemented and connected by wireless sensor network technology. Also to improve the performance lots of sensors are employed into the surveillance system to reduce the error but improve the detection probability. The proposed surveillance system is composed of vision sensor (camera), mic array sensor, PIR sensor, etc. Between the sensors, data is transferred by IEEE 802.11s or Zigbee protocol. We deployed a private network for the sensors and multiple gateways for better data throughput. The developed system is targeted to the traffic accident detection and alarm. However, its application can be easily changed to others by just changing software algorithm in a DSP chip.
File Deduplication using Logical Partition of Storage System

In traditional target-based data deduplication system, all of the files should be chunked and compared for reducing duplicated data blocks. One of the critical problem of this system arises as the number of files are increasing. The system suffers from computational delay for calculating hash value and processing metadata for handling each file. To overcome this problem, in this paper, we propose a novel data deduplication system using logical partition of storage system. The system applies data deduplication scheme to each logical partition not each file. Experiment result shows that the proposed system is more efficient compared with traditional deduplication scheme where the logical partition is full of files by 50% in terms of deduplication capacity and processing time.
