Evaluation of mental and physical load using inverse regression on sinus arrhythmia scores

This paper develops a statistical mode which estimates mental and physical loads of light work from sinus arrhythmia (SA) scores. During experiments, various levels of mental and physical loads (respectively scored by information processing and finger tapping rates) were imposed on subjects and SA scores were measured from the subjects. Two methods were used in developing workload estimation model. One is an algebraic inverse function of a multivariate regression equation, where mental and physical loads are independent variables and SA scores are dependent variables. The other is a statistical multivariate inverse regression. Of the two methods, inverse function resulted in larger mean squqre error in predicting mental and physical loads. Hence, inverse regression model is recommended for precise workload estimation.
Aiding the operator during novel fault diagnosis

The design and philosophy are presented for an intelligent aid for a hyman operator who must diagnose a novel fault in a physical system. A novel fault is defined as one that the operator has not experienced in either real system operation or training. When the operator must diagnose a novel fault, deep reasoning about the behavior of the system components is required. To aid the human operator in this situation, four aiding approaches which provide useful information are proposed. The aiding information is generated by a qualitative, component-level model of the physical system. Both the aid and the human are able to reason causally about the system in a cooperative search for a diagnosis. The aiding features were designed to help the hyman's use of his/her mental model in predicting the normal system behavior, integrating the observations into the actual system behavior, or finding discrepancies between the two. The aid can also have direct access to the operator's hypotheses and run a hypothetical system model. The different aiding approaches will be evaluated by a series of experiments.
A study on an efficient combination of the manual mode according to trajectory planning

The paesent paper deals with obtaining the properly mixed application critaeia for the manual mode, using computer graphic simulation, in order to recover the error effectively occurring in the advanced teleoperator work of man-robot system. In these experiments the error which is occurred during performing the automatic mode is recovered by the manual mode which is combined properly the operation by hyman with the operation by control program. The result shows an improvement availibility of the system by not only establishing an efficient combination of the manual mode according to trajectory planning but also recovering the error effectively. Therefore we suggest that the operation by control program should be applied in macro motion of control and the operation by human in micro motion of control.
The plastic design of dart location from the viewpoint of visual-spatial division

To study the body trunk basic to Clothing construction, and study the peculiarities of visual spatial division, necessary items are measured indirectly from 216 unmarried women from 19 to 24 years old by a photographic net-work method. In so doing, the problem of Fashion Design in establishing the location of Darts for Basic Dress is not considered. The following results are obtained. 1) Indirect measuring method, is obtained approximate to actual size, with an error of .+-. 2.8cm. 2) In the modeling plan of Dart location viewed from the visual-spatial division in Basic Dress, it is concluded that Darts are to be placed at the point of 1/3k+1/5k form the waist. From the aesthetic point of wiew, it is more appealling for darts to be placed at the point of 6cm .+-. 0.6cm right or left of center. 3) From direct measurement dart location can be set based on bust point width, and from indirect measurement, dart location can be set based on waist width.
Research on warmth-keeping, anti-bacteria and deodorant treatment for feet, the active organ of human body

Researches were made on foot-warming, anti-bacteria and deodorant treatment. Feet, the very important organ to human body, perspire much and their temperature is lower than those of other parts. Hence, keeping feet warm, sanitary and deodorant is the area of this study. Latex sponge of activated carbon, impregnated open cell foam, treated with Vikol DZ-anti-bacteria finishing agent, was developed and tested for warmth-keeping by KSK 0560 test method and for sanitization by AATCC 90 HALO test method and for deodorization by wearing tests. The results show that the new developed latex spongee has warmth-keeping ratio of 2.5 times higher than that of the conventional spong and it has an excellent anti-bacteria effect. Actual wearing function tests also show that it improves significantly the performance of deodorization, sanitization, warmth-keeping and bulkiness.
