A Study on the Prevention of Train Accidents Caused by Heavy Rains

The specific feature of trains as a means of transportation is that, on one side, at once they can carry big loads but, at the same time, if an accident occurs, it potentially leads to many human casualties or big material losses. Especially, train accidents caused by bad weather conditions result in many fatal losses of human lives and property. In Korea many railways run either in mountainous areas or along rivers thus making them especially susceptible to natural hazards. The types of damages inflicted by heavy rains resulting from rapidly changing meteorological conditions are diverse; and not only their scope is big but also they repeat regularly. Consequently, this study analyses the reasons why such effects of heavy rains on the railway conditions, damage to the railways caused by heavy rains or cases of stone fall as well as other types of accidents are not avoided. Study also, on the basis of laws related to movement in poor weather conditions and specifics of train braking, identifies systematic and technical problems and suggests and emphasizes new complex measures on their prevention.
A Case Study on the Safety Management and its Education in an Infant Institution of Learning

Protecting an infant from a risk of accident was an absolute responsibility and duty of parents in the past. As increase in the ratio of entering kindergartens, the demand of all day program also increases. In infancy, safety concerns are higher than other periods since infants are curious about objects and environments and that have stronger impulse of the spirit of inquiry. Since baby's functioning is poor, an ability of balance maintenance and an exercise function are not sufficiently developed. Further more, they lack a cognitive power about self-control or situation. According to Korea Consumer Agency, safety accidents in infant institution have increased in 115% as 294 cases compared with 137 cases in 2004. Major causes of infant deaths are street accidents, drowning, and deaths from a fall in order. Considering this situation, we need to prevent and deal with accidents. Therefore this thesis grasp the situation and analyze an actual condition of an safety education about teachers who work in such institutions and infants who are educated in institutions to prevent from accidents and make up pleasant environments. Then, it will suggest all efficient safety education plans for infants to them.
A Study on Improving Extinguishing Capacity of Mobile Water Mist Equipment

This research has so far found out problems including the second damage of extinguishant and the short time of emission when using the existing dry chemical extinguisher and gas type extinguisher, and impossibility of constant extinguishing due to the inability of recharge at the field. To solve such problems, a mobile water mist system was developed and used. However, it is judged that more improved mobile water mist system is necessary because the force of the fire changed diversely and remote villages in mountains or islands where the force of fire extinguishing is short or delayed, require high capacity of fire extinguishing. Therefore a new equipment was developed and tested focusing on the improvement of extinguishing capacity and the performance of extinguishing was found out to be improved, compared to the existing mobile water mist system. It also showed a superior extinguishing capacity to dry chemical extinguisher or gas type extinguisher. Afterward an additional research is required of simplification of equipment, price cutting and the development of additive to enable high performance even with just small extinguishant.
Acoustic Emission Source Classification of Finite-width Plate with a Circular Hole Defect using k-Nearest Neighbor Algorithm

A study of fracture to material is getting interest in nuclear and aerospace industry as a viewpoint of safety. Acoustic emission (AE) is a non-destructive testing and new technology to evaluate safety on structures. In previous research continuously, all tensile tests on the pre-defected coupons were performed using the universal testing machine, which machine crosshead was move at a constant speed of 5mm/min. This study is to evaluate an AE source characterization of SM45C steel by using k-nearest neighbor classifier, k-NNC. For this, we used K-means clustering as an unsupervised learning method for obtained multi -variate AE main data sets, and we applied k-NNC as a supervised learning pattern recognition algorithm for obtained multi-variate AE working data sets. A Phenomenological Review on the Decision on the Cause of Ignition of Electric Iron

This study set three kinds of situation and observed the various states such as carbonization by experimenting damages by fire of electric iron. The results of this study are as follows: The fire did not occurred when the unpowered iron over mattress and cotton shirts was com busted completely by external flame because the temperature of surface of soleplate and mattress did not reach the minimum ignition energy and when the powered electric iron over mattress and cotton shirts was left for an hour with its temperature dial set to high because the temperature of combustibles did not reach the minimum ignition energy. The fire occurred when the electric iron in which the outer box, bi-metal switch, and temperature fuse were removed over mattress and cotton shirts was powered by through heater terminal, and then the electric iron, mattress, and cotton shirts were combusted by the fallen combustibles because the temperature of combustibles reached to the minimum ignition energy with the help of active transfer of heat.

A Study on the Damage of Red and Blue Painting of the Wooden Cultural Assets by Using the Loaded Stream Extinguishant

The aim of these studies is to confirm the red and blue painting damages during the fire suppression of wooden cultural assets by using the loaded stream charge extinguishant. As a results of these experiments, the ingredients of extinguishant existing on the surface of wooden cultural assets were perfectly eliminated by the water washing only. Any changes on the surface of wooden cultural assets couldn't be detected. Moreover, any color changes of the red and blue painting didn't occur.
A Study on Measurement and Assessment of Local Vibration by Walking-type Cultivator

The goal of this study was to assess the level of vibration in an walking-type cultivator, and to provide a basic information to manage the vibration exposure for farmers. The latent periods of vibration-induced white finger (VWF) were assessed through analyzing the vibration levels and frequency characteristics. Also, vibration acceleration levels based on the daily vibration exposure duration was suggested. The latent periods of vibration-induced white finger were assessed by ISO 5349 method. The latent periods were 4.5 and 10.1 years at 10% and 50% of farmer group, respectively. Also, under ACGIH (American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists) standard, daily vibration exposure duration at 6.7 m/s2 of vibration acceleration has to be less than 4 hours. Therefore, education that maximum working hours should be less than 4 continuous hours is necessary for the operators of walking-type cultivators.
A Study on the Optimization of Position Tolerance of Fasteners Considering Process Capability

Designers have to consider voice of customer, process capability, manufacturing standards & condition, manufacturing method and characteristics of products to decide tolerances. Especially, in case of position of hole and pin, designers have to consider process capability to decide tolerances. The traditional position tolerances used in a drawing are theoretical values which are allocated to position under the worst case assembling condition that both hole and pin are the maximum material condition(MMC). However, when the process capability is high, more exact product size can be produced under stable manufacturing condition. Larger clearance of hole and pin can be allocated. In this point of view, manufacturer could increase the yield by allocating larger position tolerance than theoretical position tolerance of hole and pin considering process capability.

Study on Operational Plan of Hot Gas Parts for Cost Reduction of Gas Turbine with Cases Oriented

The use of the gas turbine for power supply is increasing recently. Accordingly, the operation and maintenance cost of the gas turbine is gradually increasing and the various efforts to cut the cost are needed. For an operation and maintenance cost saving of the gas turbine, reductions of the new purchasing charge and the reproduction repair cost of the hot gas parts are required through more effective operation and life management methods for the hot gas parts. The hot gas parts are the main parts of the gas turbine and they are replaced with the periodic. In this research, efficient operation and life management methods for the hot gas parts were presented with the cases. The methods were analyzed and verified based on real data and the cases for improving a lifetime were utilized in the field.
An Exploratory Study on the Possibility of Creative Quality Management

Motorola which had developed and commercialized wireless telephone and mobile phone for the first time in the world made a decision on the separation of the mobile unit from the Motorola due to the continuous bad performance turn. In addition, the Korean company named Raincom which had developed and commercialized MP3 player have been disappeared since Raincom failed to compete with iPod of Apples. What is the main cause the companies that have been top of the world level weed out of IT product market? For less product life cycle and globalization of market, the company's competitiveness tends to be determined based on company's creative capability, rather than process implementation capability. Thus, companies spent a great amount of time and effort in the introduction of creativity management and R&D activities. However, as company's continuous investment on R&D and innovation activities did not lead to business performance, they starts to pay much attention on the effective R&D and innovation activities. Therefore, this paper tries to solve the limitation of the effectiveness of R&D activities by introducing the concept of 'creative quality'. The creative quality is executed by the creative process, which is designed for getting over the limitation of the traditional brainstorming method. This paper presents the concept so called 'creative quality management' and expects it to be an alternative to conquest the limitation of six sigma management.
A Study of the Single PPM Quality Innovation's Movement and Satisfaction in the Enterprise

Single PPM Quality Innovation Movement is originally developed quality program in Korea for supplier's quality level-up since 1995. The quality target is below the 10ppm(parts per million) in outgoing quality and delivered goods plus field claim. This Single PPM Quality Innovation Movement program was conducted to realize the anticipated results not only due to management result level's increasing, but also the company's confidence and competitiveness. This study attempted to find the mutual influences on the participation of the constituent members, satisfaction of the constituent members and results of the management from Single PPM Quality Innovation Movement. The reliance analysis for the measurement material on the questionnaire was verified by Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Participation of the constituent members, satisfaction of the constituent member and result of the management, the influences upon Single PPM improvement degree level were verified through the structural analysis by using SPSS statistic package. The influence evaluation among the groups was evaluated by the structure equation.
A six sigma Project for Reducing the Cost Copper Materials of the Cable Manufacturing Process

This paper considers a six sigma project for reducing the cost copper of the cable materials in a electric wire company. The project follows a disciplined process of five macro phases: define, measure, analyze, improve, and control (DMAIC). A process map is used to identify process input variables. Three key process input variables are selected by using an input variables are selected by using an input variable evaluation table: large cable, plating, and a twisted pair. DOE is utilized for finding the optimal process conditions of the three key process input variables. The implementing result of this six sigma project is enable for reducing of the 2.8% copper materials.
Calculation of Z Sigma Level, PCI, and PPI By SPC Charts in the Discrete Process

The research develops the calculation steps of Z sigma level, process capability index(PCI) and process performance index(PPI) applicable to the discrete process in the service industry. The paper presents three following topics used related process indexes according to the precision and accuray in the continuous process. The contents include diverse process indexs for nonconformities by SPC attribute control charts and bias coefficient. The same technique of the nonconformites is also used in the nonconforming units. The practical examples are provided to help easier understanding for users.
The relationship between perceived justice and service quality in the franchise system of food service business

This paper reviewed the relationship between perceived justice and service quality, and the moderating effect of gender in the franchise system of food service business. Based on the responses from 135 franchisees, the results of multiple regression analysis showed that distributive and procedural justice have positive relationships with almost service quality factors. The results of moderating analysis showed that male franchisees have more positive relationships with almost service quality factors than female franchisee while in distributive justice, and that female franchisees have more positive relationships with almost service quality factors than male franchisee while in procedural justice.
A Study to the evaluation Service Quality of Public Corporations

One of the important components of this administrative reform is customer satisfaction. Every public enterprises introduced the Service Charter and Korean government took Customer satisfaction as the key index of public sector performance assessment. Most public enterprises introduced customer satisfaction management in an attempt to improve the quality of customer service. The government granted high incentives to excellent business innovative enterprises and developed additional indices, which are related to CS. From now on, every Korean enterprises must embody feasible customer satisfaction management and improve the quality of customer service In this research, we proposed a quality evaluation standard model which is suitable for the public enterprise based on the Service Quality Criteria, and examined the model. A 7-Point Likert Scale was used based on the five categories within the Service Quality: responsiveness, convenience, tangibility, sympathy and reliability, we analysed the validity and causal relationship among the factors within the model.

Recently there has been many researches of performing arts, the concepts of performance products or mechanism have been gradually established. However, compared to the research of public performance itself, the research of its consumer still stays on the basic stage and it is difficult to apply to the business. Therefore the needs of the related research has continued being insisted among the staffs. This study raises points that the recent performance business still focuses on providers. Moreover it notices the urgent needs of the consumer orientation strategies and the changes of marketing in the performance business. Therefore it needs to understand the performance consumers and to research how they can be satisfied with the performance according to their types. This dissertation, thus, is to find out the evaluation method of theatre service qualities and the relations between the theatre service qualities by size and customer satisfactions to suit for the customer oriented marketing paradigm, and to present a suggestion that requires for establishment of service marketing strategies for theatre, the place for performing arts.

Development of Priority Evaluation Framework for IT System Consolidation using Global Single Instance in Hightech Industry

The effort for GSI based IT system consolidation has been continued due to the increase of the system and complication increase of system connection, mainly by the global company. Since successful example of GSI realization by part of developed company affect to Korea, global level IT system consolidation has been examined mainly by the domestic company that have great deal of overseas business. Although they have examined consolidation possibility mainly on R&D, finance, operation management part which is the base part of company management, there are limitation for consolidation realization because of the difference between regional business problem of huge cost needed for consolidation. To overcome these realization limitations, it is necessary to lead risk and cost reduction through stepwise part unity and decide Priority Evaluation Framework for Consolidation target and systematic consolidation strategy. For GSI realization, appropriate distributions of unification time according to target system are needed. In this study, based on easiness and usefulness of consolidation and connection between the targets, evaluation methodology for Priority Evaluation Framework of system consolidation has been developed. Priority Evaluation Framework has been decided by applying developed methodology to global production company of high tech industrial part. Through this methodology, companies can realize successful and stable GSI by investing global resources intensively by Priority Evaluation Framework of consolidation target system
A Study on the RCM Development Using USN/ZigBee in Power Industry - ServiceScience Prototype -

The purposes of this research are presenting a new business model by introducing USN/ZigBee and measuring productivity using BSC(Balanced scorecard), and becoming a cornerstone by presenting a prototype of ServiceScience which is getting more attention from Industrial Engineering and Management. The new business model consists of development of leak current monitoring sensor using USN/ZigBee and the adoption of RCM(Reliability-Centered Maintenance) using knowledge-based system at current distribution. Additionally, for the measurement of this new model's productivity, ESC is used, and the strategic map and measurement indices are produced. The main contributions of this paper are showing a concrete model of ServiceScience and demonstrating this model can be extended to similar areas like are gas, water etc.
A Study on Mediating Effects of Organizational Commitment the Relationships Between Trust in Supervisor and Innovative Behavior

The purpose of this study verifies: the relationships between trust in supervisor and innovative behavior, and mediator effect of the organizational commitment(affective commitment, continuance commitment). In order to verify the relationships and mediator effect, data obtained from 140 employees working in business office in Ulsan Metropolitan City and they were analyzed by using SPSS 12.0. The findings are as follows: First, the relationship between trust in supervisor and the organizational commitment(affective commitment, continuance commitment) is positively related. Second, there was also a positive correlation between affective commitment and innovative behavior. Finally, affective commitment played as a partial mediator on the relationship between trust in supervisor and innovative behavior. However, there was no empirical evidence for the mediating effect of continuance commitment on the relationship between trust in supervisor and innovative behavior. Based on these findings, the implications and the limitations of the study were presented including some directions for future studies.
Effective Demand Selection Scheme for Satisfying Target Service Level in a Supply Chain

In reality, distribution planning for a supply chain is established using a certain probabilistic distribution estimated by forecasting. However, in general, the demands used for an actual distribution planning are of deterministic value, a single value for each of periods. Because of this reason the final result of a planning has to be a single value for each period. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to estimate a single value due to the inherent uncertainty in the probabilistic distribution of customer demand. The issue addressed in this paper is the selection of single demand value among of the distributed demand estimations for a period to be used in the distribution planning. This paper proposes an efficient demand selection scheme for minimizing total inventory costs while satisfying target service level under the various experimental conditions.
A study on improving the usability of records of policy management system operation

Two functions are considerable in the record management of policy management system operation. The first one is to prove that shows the conforming status of the management system requirements. The second one is to prove that shows the performing status whether the policy management system is operating effectively to the company. However, the second function requires the high level data analysis techniques, and it is more important for the decision making of the company operations. That is, the second function is more closer than the first function to the top manager's policy management tool. This paper is prepared to offer a study on the desirable record management which is necessary to the scientific decision making process. The scientific decision making requires the analysis of data derived from the reliable records. It is also aimed to enlighten the relations between the reliability of records and the adoption of the results of analysis in associated with the top manager's decision making.
