Integrated Safety Risk Management System on Construction Site Using System Approach

Establishing a framework, to explain the path to safety accidents considering major safety management factors such as physical conditions including on-site activities and workplace, as well as human factors as to labor, supervisors, or managers, would be effective as the basis to control project's risks by preventing disasters. Therefore, this study aimed to clarify the mechanism in safety management and disaster occurrence. In order to accomplish the purpose, it identified and classified the factors related to accidents, reviewed the causal relationships among them, and suggested the influence diagram. The results of this research are expected to contribute to reinforcing the preventive management, and facilitating the development of integrated site control system based on safety risks.
Formulation for Producing Risk Level of Each Construction Work

Risk level for each construction work can be very important factors to establish advanced prevention measures. But it is important how to produce it. There are three different methods to set it up for construction situation. They are as follows; 1) occurrence frequency = the number of accident workers of each work kind / yearly accident workers 2) occurrence frequency = the number of accident workers of each work kind / yearly workers 3) occurrence frequency = the number of accident workers of each work kind / the total workers All these three concepts(=averaged concept)are analyzed. Additionally frequency based on discrete curve, and severity based on continuous curve are also combined for producing risk level with more scientific approach. This risk level can be very useful to make prevention plan or take measures at construction sites. This is study result can change existing risk level concept to new concept of it, namely rail way work and in-water work showed be high risk level and RC work be low risk level, different from the situation which we have thought commonly, so far.
A Comparison of the Effect of Praise and Punishment for Improving Safety Behavior

This study compared the effects of praise and punishment for improving safety behaviors. Participants were 30 volunteer undergraduate students and they were randomly assigned to one of two experimental conditions: (1) praise under which positive feedback was delivered for safe behaviors, (2) punishment under which negative feedback was delivered for unsafe behaviors. A simulated computerized work task was developed specifically for this study. Participants had to work on the work task and follow seven safety rules while working. When they follow all the seven safety rules, their behaviors were considered safe. If they did not follow any one of the rules, their behaviors were considered unsafe. Results showed that the percentage of safe behavior under group of praise feedback was significantly higher than under group of punish feedback.
A Study on Developing Safety and Health Information Database of Pesticide Ingredients Used in Korea

In this study, we have developed the database of safety and health information for pesticide active ingredients used in Korea. There were 1,283 pesticide items among which 296 were found to be out of use in current. A total of 349 pesticide ingredients were being used in Korea. The database consists of 32 types of information including chemical characteristics, acute toxicity, chronic toxicity (carcinogenic and reproductive toxicity), specific symptoms by exposure route and first aid. When pesticide ingredients were assessed in terms of key properties such as color, odor, acute toxicity, carcinogenic and reproductive toxicity, they were white, colorless and odorless, in general. When ingredients were classified by category of acute toxicity, 'Non-hazardous' represented 29%, followed by 'Slightly hazardous' at 16%, 'Moderately hazardous' at 14%, 'Highly hazardous' at 5%, and 'Extremely hazardous' at 2%. 85 out of 349, or 24% of ingredients were found to be possibly carcinogenic to human. This database is expected to provide an easy access for farmers, agriculture supervisors, researchers and consumers, and it can ultimately be used as basic data on farmer's safety and health.
A study on the system improvement policy according to the status analysis of medical device control system in Korea

This study is aimed at proposing the national policy for medical device control system in Korea as deeply analysed the present status of the system. On 1979, Korean government had started to inspect 24 kinds of the medical devices such as X-ray diagnostic equipments, medical sterilizer and etc. mostly imported from advanced countries which USA, Germany and Japan for the first time according to the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law. However medical devices were becoming consideration as an important partner of diagnosis, curing and alleviation of diseases by medical doctors and also much important keeping the health at home. Furthermore medical devices industry can be designated as a national growth engine industry. So it is necessary not only to harmonize to international standards but also the harmonization of the system including pre-market application and post-market surveillance, is strongly needed by the Korea Food and Drugs Administration(KFDA).
Guidelines and Sample Investigation about the Texts and Icons used to deliver the Safety and Health Information in Pesticides

Texts and icons are used to deliver the safety and health information on pesticide labels. This study surveyed the standards or guidelines regarding the presentation formats of texts and icons used in pesticides. Also, the text and icon formats being used in the 50 pesticide products in Korea were investigated in the aspects of size, font (texts only), color. From the guideline survey, it was found that while the guidelines for the text fonts and colors in pesticides were suggested, there was no detailed guidelines about the text size. For the icon presentation, it was regulated that the icon size for the pesticides should be larger than
, and this size was equivalent to the size when the reading distance of 28 ㎝ was applied to other two guidelines. From the sample survey of the 50 pesticides, it was found that the small text size being used in the 50 pesticides was 1mm (3pt), and this size was considered to be very difficult to be read, particularly by old people. The minimum size of the texts for the toxicity of the pesticide, the very important safety information, was found to be 1.5 mm, which is considered to be very uncomfortable to be read. The size of icons were varied from 2 to 12 mm, and the total average size was 4.6 mm. The 149 icons from a total 187 icons (80%) were smaller than the icon presentation guideline (
), and the reason for the small icon size might be the small area of the label of the pesticides. Thus, more detailed guidelines for the text size and more practical guidelines for the size of icons are required.
Study on the Standards for Acknowledgement of Cerebral and Cardiovascular Diseases due to Occupational Cases

Judgment of cerebral and cardiovascular diseases arising out of duty follows the legal judgment method for the purpose of investigation of medical causes based on the Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance Act, with the characteristics of the occurrence as personal factors etc. act as risk factors while work-related ones as triggers, in the case of disease due to occupational cases, as whether it arose out of duty must be judged including even the individual's personal risk factors, there are limitations securing fairness even with existing laws, regulations and guidelines. This study was carried out to suggest basic data for the preparation of standardized guidances for diseases arising out of duty by reviewing the standards for the acknowledgment of cerebral and cardiovascular diseases due to occupational cases, and it has a significance in that it suggests target diseases that may be judged as cerebral and cardiovascular diseases, legal criteria for the acknowledgment and standards for the judgment of cerebral and cardiovascular diseases arising out of duty.
A Study on Application of Worker's Compensation Insurance to an Commuting-Time Accident

Currently, in Korea, an accident that takes place during a worker's commuting is generally not considered as work-related accident. However, there are several exceptions such as an accident that occurs in commuting while using transportation provided by an employer, an accident that happens during commuting time that can be regarded as part of a business activity (e.g. tending to work instructed by an employer on the way to or from work), and an accident that is caused by insufficient facility management by an employer. It is even more so as the workers' commuting distance increases with expanding scale of a city, and traffic accident occurs more frequent. Social risk of commuting-time accident is on the rise. Under this circumstance, it is an important social issue to explore how to protect workers from commuting-time accident.

This study carried out the investigation about the actual conditions of the management, disaster analysis and safety awareness on excavator in one of construction equipment and tried to make it's preventive measures. To achieve this, first of all, the accident of the internal Construction Industry process Investigation and Analysis, and then analyze an cause of accident based on it. Next, For the conditions of safety management conduct a survey to Investigation and Analysis and Propose preventive measures. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. 1st, Status of safety awareness and management of construction equipment tend to seek quickly and easily for the interests of sight. 2nd, Half the precincts of the equipment is causing major disaster. 3rd, The risk of excavator operation's indicators and drivers is so much potential. 4th, The preventive measures are needed for strengthening safety education, professional legal education, changes in safety awareness, the development of prevention system.

An Effect of Load and Genders on Postural Stability

The purposes of this paper are to investigate an effect of weight of material and gender on postural stability and to introduce formulas for those. There were five levels of weights 0, 9, 18, 27 and 36 kg, and two levels of genders were conducted. Eight male and five female subjects participated in this experiment, ten tests were performed for each level of weights to measure the postural stability by using the stability platform. The effect of the genders and the load on the postural stability were statistically analysed by the two way ANOVA test and the regression analysis. The ANOVA test showed that the effect of weights was statistically significant on postural stability to the both male and female subjects. And the postural stability of female subjects was better than that of male subjects. A linear regression formula for the balancing time and the load and a formula for the reduction rate postural stability and the relative load were introduced by the regression analysis.
A Study on Classification and Management System for arcinogens

The aim of this study was to compare the carcinogen classification systems of developed countries or global organizations with domestic system under Industrial Safety and Health Act (ISHA). We selected the representative institutions which had carcinogen classification system such as International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), National Toxicological Program (NTP), Environmental Protection Agency (US-EPA), American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), and European Union (EU). We collected the carcinogen lists issued by 5 institutions, and merged by CAS number of each chemical with Microsoft Access 7.0. We found that confirmed human carcinogens, probable human carcinogens and possible human carcinogens were 34, 179, and 252, respectively. All of the institutions classified chemicals as 2 (NTP), 3 (EU) or 5 (IARC, ACGIH, US-EPA) categories based on the weight of scientific evidences for carcinogenicity and periodically updated the carcinogen list by regular procedure. However, a total of 90 chemicals could be classified as carcinogen under ISHA in Korea. There was no procedure or system which periodically update the carcinogen lists. In addition, the status of carcinogen classification according to regulation was confused. In conclusion, these findings suggest that the carcinogen classification and management system should be amended by consideration of systems of advanced institutions and the domestic regulation system.
Experimental Study on Fire Resistant Capacity and Thermal Conduction of Construction Material Using the Circulation Resources

This is to show some basic data for introducing both circulated aggregate and recycled powder producing waste concrete. Standard-mixing design for 24MPa has been basically used and added and replaced normal aggregate with recycled powder made of waste concrete. In addition, polycarboxylate high-range water reducing agent has been used because recycled powder is missing adhesive strength and it is not compare with cement's adhesive strength. Compressive strength with powder mixture of 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10% has been decreased down to 80% of normal concrete material strength without recycled powder mixture.
heated concrete were compressively tested in order to find out concrete strength resistant to high temperature. heat capacity was also tested, based on the expectancy of its low conductivity. In addition, thermal conduction test was tested in order to find out concrete insulation. According to this test, when concrete was tested by fire resistance, it using the circulation aggregate was same resulted by concrete using the natural aggregate. also, recycle powder was not effecting insulation performance. but it is fit to standard on concrete insulation of building law.

On the Service Improvement of High-Density Urban Railway Transportation

Recently, there are many problems of service qualities such as regular-rapid-safe -comfortable transport, that was traditionally advantages in urban railway transportations. These problems cause train delays that affects consecutive schedule, capacity, operation plans, and it is hard to prevent the propagation of delay and find the recovery solution. Because the urban transport demands is continuously increased and the railway service is also expanded, the railway operation company makes efforts to improve operation performance and efficiency for passengers. In this paper, we analyse the issues and problems existing in the major operation line of high-density urban railways, and suggest the development direction of intelligent operation technology to improve the urban railway service by minimizing the occurrence and propagation of delay. And the result of numerical case study is also presented.

Owing to the latest changes in the IT environment and the advancement of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, the RFID technology has been frequently applied to the field of logistics and distribution. Now it is possible to acquire information in real-time more accurately and promptly as compared to data collection in the past, through the application of the RFID technology. However, in terms of the application of the RFID technology, the range of the field of logistics and distribution is considerably widely distributed. The management system that is able to monitor the RFID system installed in logistics centers and stores distributed in environmentally many regions, in real-time in the center is insufficient. Therefore, this study proposes a management system which is capable of transmitting the report of the occurrence of errors according to the pre-defined error types at the time of the occurrence of errors in the RFID system installed at each strategic foothold, in real-time to SMS and to the integrated monitoring system, and of taking actions for those errors from a remote place by using a mobile device. The purpose of the error management system proposed in this study is to minimize a data loss in the supplying network by quickly coping with errors in the area where the RFID system is installed.
A Development of Web-based Inventory System using a RFID in Injection Molding Industry

Industrial business environments have rapidly changed and face severe competitive challenges. The effective inventory system enables to product and deliver the products quickly for meeting due date of customer's order in this environment. This study have developed a web-based inventory system using RFID for an injection molding industry. The system analysis inventory problem issues such as inventory planning, warehouse assignment and assist to develop production scheduling. In this study, web-based inventory system using Java language and RFID technology is proposed and implemented. As the result of implementation of the system, we expected that it manages to inventory planning continually and systematically.

A Study on Construction of ERP System for Small and Medium sized Design Engineering Company

ERP system has been spreaded from large companies to many small and medium sized companies, and it is recognized as a basic system for optimum and efficient work process. The focus is moving from manufacturing companies to various specialized companies. Once ERP system was introduced to those specialized companies, there was attempt to customize an ordinary system which used in manufacturing companies, but it was hard to take effect due to the lack of experience and an inadequate analysis of work process. Some of foreign ERP packages are possible to be constructed for some companies. However, they are originally aim at a large enterprise and it is also very difficult to construct and maintain. For this reason, small and midium sized companies are having a difficulty to construct ERP system. This study deals with the construction of ERP system for small and medium sized design engineering company and introduction of the crucial points throughout the construction and requirements for composition module and customization of each main module. Based on the findings of this study, the specialized non-manufacturing companies are expected to have efficient and practical application of ERP system when they select and customize the ERP package of manufacturing companies.

The company protects the information of legacy system to satisfy all member in company. Integrating between applications is increasing recently because of e-Business activation. The e-Business activation also make between extra companies and intra companies integrated. This paper suggest on implementing the ERP using Phased Approach Method and the EAI(Enterprise Application Integration) with legacy system. This paper also suggest the standard method which would be used in implementing the EAI in another company and reduce the mistake during the EAI project. Therefore, it would be the one system between complicated systems through application integration, it would be also make shop floors visualized. This research would help users and service suppliers getting more advantages of e-Business system.

The picking process in distribution center is one of the most difficult and time-consuming process. The improvement of picking productivity is a core element which decides efficiency of the distribution center. The time to shipping on vehicles from receiving depends on the arrangement of items or picking methods. The Pick to Light system typically is used to improve the efficiency of order picking. In some cases the layout design of Pick to Light system has been performed rather than scientific analysis by a common experience. Therefore, this study analyzed the impact of picking performance by the zone arrangement method in order picking process of Pick to Light system.
A Study on Productivity Improvement on Welding Line for Vehicle Fuel Tank using Layout Improvement

Many researches and projects are actively implemented in the academic world and industrial world in order to increase the productivity through changing utility layout. Effective layout makes the flow of parts and products go on wheels and helps labor forces and utilities to be used efficiently. In this study, we looked at effect on utility layout change through a case of a company making a fuel tank of vehicle in Korea. Due to the layout improvement, this company could have flowshop system on welding line, so the stock in line was decreased, checking the number of stock became easier than before and it was possible to evaluate exact cycle time per unit. Through not only confirming qualitative effect, but also checking quantitative effect such as UPH(Unit per Hour), we obtained the conclusion that the layout improvement increased the productivity.
A Study on Voluntarily Participative Field Research Circle and Total Production Management(TPM) Innovation Activities of Foreign Enterprise in China

Recently Korean enterprises that branch out into China have been continuously increased to achieve diverse objectives such as personnel expenses reduction, market share extension on China and globalization strategy implementation. We have studied about competitiveness reinforcement of enterprises that branch out into China in terms of TPM(Total Production Management). In this paper, we extended the concept of traditional TPM(Total Productive Maintenance) to TPM(Total Production Management) that covers extensively the concept of total management innovation activities. We explored detailed activities of TPM and voluntarily participative field research circle. Also, We suggested some prerequisite conditions for TPM settlement that might be recommended for the foreign companies in China and checked Key Performance Indicator(KPI) that could be useful to confirm how TPM contributed to enterprise competitiveness reinforcement.
A Study on the development of quality information systemfor the improvement of product reliability of the auto part supplier

Recently, according to the total quality management environment, the necessity of the systematic administration about the quality information is gradually enlarged as to vehicle related company. Accordingly, related companies require the operation of the information management system matched with the quality administration task level. And through the storage and share of the efficient quality information, they try to solve the customer claim about the quality and prevent the quality problem recurrence of product. This research suggests the standard business process of the auto part supplier for the efficient management of the quality information and the quick correspondence of the quality problem. In addition, by building and managing the quality information management system will be able to expect the more efficient quality management and the product reliability insurance.
New Business Model Development Using 6 Sigma Methodology

Global financial crisis at 2008 bring about the great change to the company itself and its environment. In these days, the company needs change to the ambidextrous organization, which have more efficiency processes also have more attractive products and services. Ambidextrous organization purse exploiting and exploration innovation program. For the existing process's incremental and rapid improvement, the exploiting innovation programs are used such as 6 Sigma program and so on. For the new business model's searching and developments, the exploration innovation programs are used such as blue ocean program and brainstorming and so on. In this paper is presented the new procedures, for the new business model development, combining exploration and exploiting innovation programs. To obtain the creative business ideas, various exploration methodologies are adopted based on 6 Sigma's methodology, The new procedures are applied to the venture company and examined its validity.

This paper studies the relationship between learning orientation and incremental innovation(process innovation, operational innovation, and service innovation), and the moderating effect of tenure in tele-communication service sector. Based on the responses from 241 employees, the results of multiple regression analysis show that learning orientation have positive relationships with process innovation, operational innovation, and service innovation. The results of moderating analysis showed that longer tenure employees have more positive relationships with all incremental innovation factors(process innovation, operational innovation, and service innovation) than short tenure employees.

The study investigates the various Acceptance Control Charts (ACCs) based on the factors that include process independence, data weighting scheme, subgrouping, and use of control charts. USL - LSL >

The Effect of Method for Team Goal-setting on Team Performance Quantity and Trend

This study examined the relative effect of participative and assigned goal-setting on team performance quantity and trend. Participants were 30 college students. They were divided into 15 pairs considering individual typing speed. Members in each pair were randomly assigned to the two experimental conditions. Participants were asked to type materials for 19 days. The dependent variable was the number of words typed. The results indicated that there was no significant difference in performance quantity between the two conditions. However, the average percentage of goal accomplishment under participative goal-setting condition was higher than that under assigned goal-setting condition. Also, the results showed that the difference in trend between two conditions was statistically significant.

In an industrial Era, OJT(On-the-Job Training) has been accepted as the field learning. But in a breaking up era, traditional field training needs to change and make an evolutionary model. Also, we need to make evolutionary model for various changing ways and means and need means to maximize the transformation of learning by operating learning organization. In knowledge based society, as people work and learn new knowledge in order to pass the experience knowledge and capabilities, they are not the traditional relationship between trainer and trainee but maximize work and learning, development and performance through several different ways. So, the study about new learning model is needed because the learning is creating the value and makes low cost and high efficiency about the elements of cost and time. We study the evolutionary model, OJF(On-the-Job Facilitating) - new learning methodology - through operating learning organization in S Electronics and its application practices.
Structural Relationship among Technical Human Resources, Technology Innovation Activity and Achievements of Technical Innovation: Centered around Manufacturing Corporations

The present paper deals with an analysis of relationship among technical human resources management as a precursor, technology innovation activity and achievements of technical innovation on the basis of preceding empirical studies on technology innovation activities of manufacturing corporations. The analysis shows that First, the technical human resources management is found to have influence upon technology innovation activity in various ways, implying that the role of technical human resources management as a key to technical innovation is most important of all to enable manufacturing companies to gain edge in competition by means of technology innovation activity; and Second, technology innovation activity exercises impacts on the achievements of exploitative technology innovation as well as on the achievements of exploratory technology innovation on the part of manufacturing industry. The above findings prove that the level of technology innovation activity may be a source for superior competitiveness of manufacturing business as a result of technology innovation performance. Manufacturing corporations, thus, need to place more weight on stepping up their executive level of technology innovation activity factors than on increasing simply the level of technical investment.
A Study on the Effects of Customer Satisfaction using e-Business Flow

Nowadays, due to the development of computers and the information and communication technology, data processing and transmission is made very vastly and fast. The development of the technologies bring many changes and revolutions to the life of ordinary people. Although, e-Business grows continuously, it is in experimental stage in domestic area because of limits of infrastructure. Also, in spite of explosive growth of internet, the research on the internet has not been fully studied yet. The objectives of this study are that how service consumers perceive the flow of e-Business, and that what effect the makes on their satisfaction and re-purchase intention. This means that the research enables a marketing manager to take the meaning of comparative weight among the components of e-Business flow, and to provide very useful information to establish marketing strategies which are close to the consumers.

On the Optimal Routing for City-Wide Synchronous PRT

Recently, there are environmental issues for sustainable transportation system to pursue the energy-efficient and environment-friendly public urban transit. These transportation system needs to offer demand-oriented high-quality service being on the same level with cab service for urban space. PRT(Personal Rapid Transit), small track-guided vehicle, is repeatedly mentioned as a possible alternative for the new urban public transportion system, but but there are not many researches on the operational optimal routing for PRT network. In this paper, the concept of PRT and general optimal routing methods are reviewed. And we suggest the optimal routing method for city-wide PRT network with multi-vehicles and stations, junctions and directional arcs. Futher research directions for PRT routing are presented.
A Study of Performance Target Setting of Regression point of view -Focusing on the Intellectual Right and a Paper for the Railway R&D

Government evaluate annually a performance of government's R&D(Research & Development) and decide a budget and progress. So, a performance target setting of R&D is very important at the planning, The basic performance target setting of railroad R&D is clear. However, a scientific and technological performance target setting of railroad R&D is very difficult and a reasonable level of it can not be judged. Therefore, this study will suggest a solution for a scientific and technological performance target setting of railroad R&D through regression analysis of successfully finished railroad R&D, after judging a reasonability of a scientific and technological performance through comparing railroad R&D with the other R&D.
A Development of Simulation Model for End-of-Life Vehicle Dismantling System

It is necessary that End-of-life Vehicle (ELV) should be recycled from the point of view of environmental preservation and resource recycling. This paper deals with two issues. The first one is the basic functional construction and plant layout of the ELV dismantling system that can maximize the reusability of parts and the recyclability of materials. The second issue is the development of a simulation model which can be used to estimate the performance of the layout design. The simulator has been interfaced with an interactive layout design system, and used to effectively determine an optimal layout design of the ELV dismantling system.
Quality Imporovement of Auto-Parts Using Data Mining

Data mining is the process of finding and analyzing data from a big database and summarizing it into useful information for a decision-making. A variety of data mining techniques have been being used for wide range of industries. One application of those is especially so for gathering meaningful information from process data in manufacturing factories for quality improvement. The purpose of this paper is to provide a methodology to improve manufacturing quality of fuel tanks which are auto-parts. The methodology is to analyse influential attributes and establish a model for optimal manufacturing condition of fuel tanks to improve the quality using decision tree, association rule, and feature selection.
