A Study on Developing Model for Regional Disaster Capability Assessment

It is a significant issue for several country including Korea, where the natural and the weather conditions are severe, to keep the safety against disasters which occur frequently every year, especially in urban region crowded with population. In order to implement suitable and effective measures against various disasters in such area, development of method for evaluation of disaster prevention performance based on various disaster risks and effective disaster damage mitigation technologies is independable. In this paper, methods for hazard evaluation, vulnerability evaluation and loss evaluation, and damage technologies are proposed targetting man-made disaster and natural one like flood, earthquake and tsunami and so on. The method proposed in this paper is based on the research of USA and Japan for man-made disaster and natural disaster. The proposed method will be developed in detail in four years during research period funded by government.

Relationships between MMPI Scales and Safety & Health Indices in the Shipbuilding Workmen

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between MMPI(Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) scale and safety and health related indices in the shipbuilding workmen. The MMPI scores of the 230 shipbuilding workmen applicants and their performance records regarding safety and health were analyzed through t-test and one-way ANOVA to obtain the following results; (1) applicants intended to show the positive characteristics of their personality, and this attitude reflected a decrease on T-scores of MMPI; (2) there were significant relationships between some MMPI subscales and safety & health related indices. These results can be used to provide baseline information for more effective accident prevention programs.
A Study on the Actual Problems of Field Fire Supervision System(Focus to Dajeon City)

In this study, supervision resides fire mission against problems associated with case studies and surveys done through the side of the field work, technical personnel, fire management, including fire code aspects classified into three kinds of items dealt with the issue. Started at the scene of the problem in terms of performance, the issue of the construction process, mainly dealt with the issue at the time of completion. Fire management side, supervisor of technical personnel, human resources management issues, contract issues, fire code level, the frequent revisions of fire regulations, supervision, processing delays of the resulting report, the problem resides with the expansion of Fire Supervision target was mentioned. Finally, the target for each hierarchical supervision, and resident supervisor of the need for supervision of work performance test was carried out by the correlation.
A Study about False Alarm of Automatic Fire Detection System

The automatic fire detection system is an important facility installed with focusing on minimizing the damage from a fire. This paper presents in the followings as the methods to reduce the false alarm of the automatic fire detection system; first, to prepare for legal standard so that revised legal standard can be applied to the fire fighting property prior to revision; second, to introduce the performance based fire detection protection design in the law based fire protection design; third, to maintain the wiring of worn-out detector; forth, to introduce an evaluation system to the education for the fire warden; fifth, to extend the standard of MTBF(meantime between failure) of the detector; sixth, to extend of installing the analog type detector; seventh, to improve the structure of reset switch.
A Study on the Effect of Roadside Trees' Layout Affecting Lighting Quality on Roadways by Simulation Approach

The uniformity of lighting distribution on the roadway is essential factor for drivers and pedestrians's safety during nighttime in urban streets. Also, the importance of roadside trees is one of the growing concern for better citizens' health and mitigating environmental impact on the urban street. But roadway lightings and roadside trees have different design or planting standards and they are not integrated in the systemic viewpoint for better safety of users during nighttime. The purpose of this study is to propose a simulation approach which assesses lighting quality in the view of illumination uniformity distribution of roadway lighting from design step and consider the layout of roadside trees. For improving lighting quality of roadway, simulation approach is needed for assessing the impact of diverse planting situation of trees and encouraged from beginning of design step for roadway construction.
Analysis of Safety Consciousness 6th year in Elementary school

This study is to find out how much elementary school members have their consciousness against safety in their school. Simple questionnaire 1206 sheets have been distributed to the members and additional interview with teachers to take care of them. Statistically, frequency, and correlation analysis have been made and chi-test has also been made for data reliability. The results of these have been summarized as running on corridor with 53.4% in school safety, warming up exercise 45.2% in leisure safety, evacuation form classroom with 2.4% in fire safety, crossing around just in fromt or rear of vehicle with 61.2% in transportation safety. It is thought that safety training should be provided to more for man than for girl pupils and also, safety consciousness should be improved than all the other area.
Effect Analysis of Railway Accident due to Recognition for a Cheer Response

Questionnaire survey has been made for the above study. First, 65 question sheets have been distributed to railway operators and 55 sheets of them have been collected from them. SPSS 12.0 program package has been used to analyze those sheets concerning age, experience, school, background as a frequency analysis and t-test has been made to find out recognition level difference of a cheer response, depending on the operator's experience. T-verification has been made for two groups such as less than 10 years, and 10 years or more experience. Result from correlation analysis showed that there was no difference due to operators' experience.
The Effect of Superior Leadership on Job Stress

This paper reviewed the relationship between superior leadership and job stress responses, and the moderating effect of age in maintenance area of air force. Based on the responses from 450 air force maintenance persons, the results of multiple regression analysis showed that transactional leadership has negative relationship with physiological stress response, charisma has negative relationship with psychological stress, and individual consideration has negative relationship with behavioral stress. In moderating effects, age has negative effect on the relationship between transactional leadership and physiological stress response, and age has positive effect on the relationship between charisma and psychological stress response.
Guidelines for Designing Earcons to Deliver Process Control Information using its Semantic Association

It is presumable that properly designed earcons given simultaneously with visual information could enhance the situation awareness of operators when they are involving in highly complicate process control activities. In this study, population stereotypes of earcons with respect to process control information were identified using 60 Korean subjects. To do this, 11 most distinctive earcons were selected from various earcons having different pitch, rhythm, and timbre. Associations between the selected earcons and 40 pairs of adjectives used to describe the state of control in process were gathered from 37 subjects using a semantic differential method. Based on the results from multivariate analyses, the 40 pairs of adjectives were aggregated into three distinctive semantic dimensions. The emotional maps of the 11 earcons matched with the semantic dimensions were presented in this study. On the basis of these results, a general guideline was suggested for designing earcons to deliver process control information.
Predicting traffic accidents in Korea

We develop a model to predict traffic accidents in Korea. In contrast to the classical approach that mainly uses regression analysis, Bayesian approach is adopted. A dependent model that incorporates the data from different kinds of accidents is introduced. The rate of severe accident can be updated even with no data of the same kind. The data of minor accident that can be obtained frequently is efficiently used to predict the severe accident.
A Study on Development based on ToA Method of Location Determination System in Indoor

Location-Based Service(LBS) is a service that provides a variety of convenience in life using location information that can be obtained by mobile communication network or satellite signal. In order to provide LBS precisely and efficiently, we have to need technologies such as location determination technology, platform technology and server technology first. In this study, we studied on how we can reduce the error on location determination of objects such people and things. Fingerprint location determination method was applied to this study because it can be used at current wireless communication infrastructure and less influenced by a variety of noisy environment than other location determination methods. We used the time of arrival(ToA) method in fingerprint location determination method. In order to confirm the performance of suggested method, we developed location determination test program with LAbVIEW 2010 and performed the test. According to indoor test results, the suggested method reduced the distance error by 24%, 34% and 19% respectively at indoor environment compared with deterministic kWNN and Rice Gaussian fingerprint methods.
A Study on Measurement Error Reduction of Indoor and Outdoor Location Determination in Fingerprint Method

We converted the probability value to logarithmic scale value because using the sum of k probability values is not suitable to be applied to weight determination. In order to confirm the performance of suggested method, we developed location determination test program with Visual Basic 6.0 and performed the test. According to indoor and outdoor test results, the suggested stochastic method reduced the distance error by 17%, 18% and 9% respectively at indoor environment and 25%, 11% and 4% at outdoor environment compared with deterministic NN, kNN and kWNN fingerprint methods.
A Study on Establishment of Standard ERP to Operate Many Production System

To help the corporations ensure more efficient production management, the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system has been introduced in operation, together with a variety of approaches to make improvements in terms of quality and productivity issues. Yet, with the different types of ERP systems in operation, many companies are going through many difficulties not only in having greatly reduced work efficiency but also in making prompt decisions from the entire group-based integrated information. In this study, the analysis was made on their own ERP systems and working processes operated by a company running the multiple number of productions from the domestic and the overseas suppliers, in order to support their interacted work flow regarding their products and help improve the work efficiency by establishing standardized ERP system. Through this, it is expected to ensure more competitive system in operation by securing the flexibility in the production as well as efficient resource distribution under the corporate context of cost reduction and quality improvement.
A Study on Calculation of Recycling Standard Cost for Efficient Operation of EPR

The provisions regarding the standard cost for recycling stated under the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) since 2002, include different and complicated obligatory steps to be taken on a variety of subject items regarding the collection, the transportation and the treatment, making the corporations face in their calculating and executing the standard cost. This study presents more objective calculation scope and standard for the purpose of efficient operation of the standard cost for recycling, in consideration of the general industry perception toward cost issue as well as domestic/overseas case studies regarding the standard cost for recycling. Besides, the study presents the checking items and the calculation contents per step to calculate the standard cost for recycling. Therefore, it is expected not only to be used as the objective standard to calculate the standard cost for recycling, but also to contribute to increasing the work efficiency in the following ongoing re-calculation process and to maintaining the consistent operation of the institution.
Mathematical Modeling for Traffic Flow

Even if there are no causing factors such as car crash and road works, traffic congestion come from traffic growth on the road. In this case, estimation of traffic flow helps find the solution of traffic congestion problem. In this paper, we present a optimization model which used on traffic equilibrium problem and studied the problem of inverting shortest path sets for complex traffic system. And we also develop pivotal decomposition algorithm for reliability function of complex traffic system. Several examples are illustrated.
Algorithms on layout design for overhead facility

Overhead facility design problem(OFDP) is one of the shortest rectilinear flow network problem(SRFNP). Genetic algorithm(GA), artificial immune system(AIS), population management genetic algorithm (PM) and greedy randomized adaptive search procedures (GRASP) were introduced to solve OFDP. A path matrix formed individual was designed to represent rectilinear path between each facility. An exchange crossover operator and an exchange mutation operator were introduced for OFDP. Computer programs for each algorithm were constructed to evaluate the performance of algorithms. Computation experiments were performed on the quality of solution and calculations time by using randomly generated test problems. The average object value of PM was the best of among four algorithms. The quality of solutions of AIS for the big sized problem were better than those of GA and GRASP. The solution quality of GRASP was the worst among four algorithms. Experimental results showed that the calculations time of GRASP was faster than any other algorithm. GA and PM had shown similar performance on calculation time and the calculation time of AIS was the worst.

Cosmetic industry is a typical industry for domestic demand and is closely connected with domestic demand growth. In 2006, domestic cosmetics market is showing high growth rate due to the recovery of domestic demand and the market reorganization of sales channels is proceeding rapidly due to the recent global economic slowdown, Due to the situation, many companies are launching low-priced brand shop. The purpose of this study was to clarify the impact of marketing strategy of cosmetic brand-shop on consumers' purchasing intention. As the result of analyses, it was found that product, place, promotion factors of cosmetic brand-shop affect brand image. Also only product factor affects corporate image, perceived quality. And using regression analysis between brand image, corporate image, perceived quality and customer behaviors. Brand image and perceived quality factors influence consumers purchasing intention. Brand image has a positive impact on corporate image. And corporate image affects the perceived quality.
A Study on the Empirical Analysis of Corporate Social Contribution Activities

This study proposes a priority model for program directors in charge of Corporate Social Contribution to make the best decision. This empirical analysis aims to discover the most significant area among various programs of Corporate Social Contribution Activities. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used to test the priority model. The study attempts to demonstrate how the model helps providing better decision choices in corporate practices. The priority preference in Corporate Social Contribution Activities programs among corporate social contribution practitioners, PR professors and NGO activists are studied for their priority on corporate social contribution programs, among they valued com mon benefit social activity most important.
The relationship between job characteristics and incremental innovation, and the moderating effect of tenure

This paper reviewed the relationship between job characteristics and incremental innovation, and the moderating effect of tenure. The results of multiple regression analysis, based on the responses from 241 employees in service industry, showed that job variety, identity, importance, autonomy and feedback have positive relationships with incremental innovation. In moderating effects, tenure interacts with variety and identity to have positive effects on incremental innovation, but tenure interacts with job importance, autonomy and feedback to have negative effects on incremental innovation.

A Study on QR code based Management of Aircraft Maintenance Parts

Management of maintenance parts in the aircraft have difficulty because of high cost of part, necessity of separate managements, and very many kinds of parts. The serial number of parts was used in maintenance process and then the results was depended on worker's ability. Also the workers used printed work order and manual at every time in maintenance processes. In this study, we analyzed the maintenance process and the information that occurs in the material warehouse and hangar for large airline company to solve the problems about inventory and visualization. Based on above analysis we developed the maintenance process with integrated by information technologies such as QR code and tablet PC. We expect the reduced errors resulting from visually checking and decreased work hours and maintenance cost and will finally develop the smart work.
A Study on Re-calculation of Recycling Standard Cost through the Analysis on Standard Cost

The current standard cost for recycling applied under the Extended Producer Responsibility(EPR) institution, is not coping with continuously increased number of obligatory subject items as well as a variety of variable cost changing factors regarding the recycling treatment cost caused by price fluctuation such as increased material and labor cost entirely across the society; changes in recycling treatment process following the developing technologies; and changes in the required work forces and equipments followed by the trends of automated facilities. Despite such various cost fluctuation factors, the current EPR is not coping with the trends, making the re-calculation process difficult, which causes differences between the real treatment cost for recycling. In this study, the analysis was made on main factors affecting on the related cost and the related price changing index was calculated, by conducting the influence evaluation on the standard cost factors of the current standard cost for recycling. Through theses results, more objective standard will be set for the re-calculation of standard cost for recycling to greatly contribute to setting up the midterm and long-term strategies in the future towards efficient institution.
Review of Classification Models for Reliability Distributions from the Perspective of Practical Implementation

The study interprets each of three classification models based on Bath-Tub Failure Rate (BTFR), Extreme Value Distribution (EVD) and Conjugate Bayesian Distribution (CBD). The classification model based on BTFR is analyzed by three failure patterns of decreasing, constant, or increasing which utilize systematic management strategies for reliability of time. Distribution model based on BTFR is identified using individual factors for each of three corresponding cases. First, in case of using shape parameter, the distribution based on BTFR is analyzed with a factor of component or part number. In case of using scale parameter, the distribution model based on BTFR is analyzed with a factor of time precision. Meanwhile, in case of using location parameter, the distribution model based on BTFR is analyzed with a factor of guarantee time. The classification model based on EVD is assorted into long-tailed distribution, medium-tailed distribution, and short-tailed distribution by the length of right-tail in distribution, and depended on asymptotic reliability property which signifies skewness and kurtosis of distribution curve. Furthermore, the classification model based on CBD is relied upon conjugate distribution relations between prior function, likelihood function and posterior function for dimension reduction and easy tractability under the occasion of Bayesian posterior updating.
Development of Application Models Based on the Robust Design

This study develops three new models that are practically applicable to three stages of Taguchi's robust design, which includes system design, parameter design and tolerance design. In system design, the Multiple Loss Function Analysis(MLFA) and Overall Loss Index(OLI) which reflect upon weight of characteristics and importance of specification are developed. Moreover parameter design presents Process Capability Index(PCI),
, in order to segregate Signal-To-Noise Ratio(SNR) into accuracy and precision for an evaluation of relative comparison. In addition, tolerance design presents the new model of allowance computation for assembled product which is primarily derived from safety margin(SM) considering functional limit and specification. The guideline of those three new models, which include systematic charts and applicable illustrations, offers convenience for practitioners in the field. Hence, the practical applications could be made with the steps of robust designs such as system design, parameter design and specification allowance design.
