The moderating effect of safety motivation on employee safety participation in SME

With Zohar(1980)'s research on safety climate and industrial safety, occupational safety and health literatures begin to emphasize the influence of organizational context. Based on this research trend, this paper tried to review the relationship between safety efforts and employee safety participation, and the moderating effect of safety motivation on such relationship. Based on the responses from 643 manufacturing workers, the results of statistical analysis showed that company precaution activity and management safety involvement have affirmative effects on the employee safety participation, but safety education has not. The extent precaution activity forces on participation activity was proved to be influenced by employee safety motivation.
Development of Construction Process Safety Information Management System for Safety Accident Prevention

It is difficult to put it into practice in that it requires bearing too much burden to draw out the planning itself in a case of large construction work. Consequently in this paper we select evaluation criteria by construction progress, classify into several categories, and regard potential danger which often occurs, as a evaluation criterion. Further step is to allow workers or collaborated companies to express their expert opinions or experiences and to encourage quality and process control and autonomous safety control by applying PSM(Process Safety Management) method using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) and to development of PSIM(Process Safety Information Management) evaluation method in the construction. The reason why PSIM method should be quantitative and substantial progress is because it contributes Korean constructing companies to enhancing their safety control ability and to taking an equal stance just like developed countries, thereby strengthening their competitive edges.

Safety management cost,
one thousand billion has been input to the construction area from 1995 to 2000 but the management quality is still in the developing country level. The above mentioned increase of accident rate are attributed to the generous code regulation, net fit to the sense, varying with time change, but the more fundamental reason of this is no practical construction safety management system, up to now. Hardware-orienting operation for the system could be a main reason of this problem. In this paper, we developed a model for efficient construction safety system. A Study on Safety of Air Bridge by Using ANSYS

The air bridge that connects an airplane with air terminal is important facilities that help people get in and out an airplane safely and conveniently. As the number of people who takes airplane has been increasing, an unexpected accident or a disorder on an air bridge can lead to the loss of passenger's lives or a great damage of airplane. This paper suggests a method to secure the safety of an air bridge.
Standardization of the Ergonomics Kit for Evaluating Musculoskeletal Hazards in the Work System

A standardized ergonomics kit is suggested to evaluate and reduce musculoskeletal hazards that yield large socioeconomic burdens in the work system. This kit comprises basic and detailed analysis tools with proper tool selection rules. The basic tool includes a checklist for various risk factors to screen potentially hazardous jobs among manual works. Selective detailed analysis tools can then be applied to the screened job lists for more quantitative and precise evaluation. The tool selection rules are devised for using the basic and detailed analysis tools in a mutually supplemental way. To validate the standardized ergonomics kit, it was applied to evaluate jobs related to the musculoskeletal hazards in a paper-making industry. Among 101 manual jobs investigated, 44 potential hazardous jobs were screened during basic investigation phase and finally 16 hazardous jobs were identified by the detailed analysis phase. The result provided fairly promising ideas of ergonomic interventions for the hazardous jobs.
Evaluation of Standard Crossing Light Timing in accordance with the Characteristics of Pedestrians

An investigation was conducted to evaluate both the time required and the time allowed for persons to cross streets. Currently, the local municipality uses a standardized formula to determine the time allotted for 'WALK' signals to function allowing pedestrian traffic to cross thoroughfares. The formula to determine the 'Theoretical Time(in seconds)' is the width of the street(in meter) divided by 1.2m/s. The basis of the denominator is 'normal' walking speed. Initially, 3 locations were chosen to evaluate the time between the appearance of the 'WALK' signal and the appearance of the 'DON'T WALK'. The interval between the two signals was assumed to allow a person to begin crossing the street at the appearance of the 'WALK' signal and terminate their crossing at the appearance of the 'DON'T WALK' signal. Of the 3 locations, 2 locations(elementary?middle schools and general hospital areas), the duration of the 'WALK' signal were not properly set and therefore need more time for those who use these cross walks. Specific details regarding the crossing locations and validity of the standardized formula were also presented and discussed.
A Six Sigma Project for Reducing the Make pressure problem of Relay

This paper studies on the quality problem for the Reley using the 6 sigma process. The application of 6 sigma process suggested reliable and valuable statistical data for the quality of the Relay at the production line. In the measurement step in 6 sigma process, the FMEA(filure mode effect analysis) were used for the detection of problem source. The application of 6 sigma process gave the improving method for the quality of the Relay. Consequently the 6 sigma process was proved very effective for the quality problem reducing at the production line.
A study on the safety improvement and productivity's increase through continuous preventive maintenance

This study deals with the procedure of safety improvement, productivity increase ,and tact-time reduction through setting up the system about preventive maintenance. Actually, it is hard to establish and carry out preventive maintenance, even though we recognize the importance of the system concerning time, cost, labor, and so forth. In this study in the viewpoint of cost we are for achieving maximum efficiency by change and reduction of planning process adapted to the special work group. At first we briefly will mention the kind ,the necessity ,and the concept of preventive maintenance ,and then divide the equipment used in the assembly line into the two whether it is necessary or not by way of estimating the breakdown loss ,comparing with general establishment of preventive maintenance and modifying it to the case. At the second step we will establish the operation system of plan management related to production and quality in the special case. Check period and category will be set by dividing the assembly equipment into LCL and Focus in the third step. The forth step will contain the operation procedure in detail. And then we must make check and repair record periodically. Finally, on the basis of the record the selection of checking of significance will be conducted. This results in safety improvement, tact time reduction, and productivity improvement.
An Empirical Study on the Effect of KS Certificate to the Enterprise Performance

Korean Standard Certificate, suitable for the korean industrial standards is one which was designed not only to spread and utilize the industrial standard established for the industrial standardization, but to protect the consumer. In this study, the practical effects of the Korean Standard Certificate will be examined in various fields, based on the small medium enterprises which achieved the KS Certificate. In order to look into how the system has effects on the performance of the management in a company, the method of the actual approach will be used. In the end, the purpose of this study is to find the plan in which KS Certificate can be helpful to the development of the company.
A Study on the Managerial Factors to the Enterprise's Information Productivity

In general one can find an enormous number of studies about the productivity of land, labor and capital, very little has been done so far to communicate about the productivity of corporate information creating and information-consuming resources in ways that are useful to business executives. In view of the enormous share of corporate spending on information resources it would be useful in planning, budgeting, as well as in performance evaluation to measure how information resources are used in creating EVA(economic value-added). The effectiveness in deploying information resources has potentially a greater effect on corporate financial performance than any other economic influence. That in because corporate executives have greater discretion in directing what their information management staffs will do than in setting the terms for materials purchases, employee compensation, taxes or interest rates. The expenses for information are mostly in the form of overhead costs. Because expenses for information are mostly overhead costs and not for costs of goods, the prudent decision-maker should have a wide array of discretionary options available for allocating this resource. This study is intended for analysis the factors that having effects on the enterprise information productivity and is to description the factor using a foreign enterprise case study.

Recently, growth of internet causes rapid changes in many areas of statistics such as statistical computation and analysis. Especially, bootstrap is the most interesting statistical methods applying computer resampling simulation. In this paper, we try to present how to use a method of bootstrap on the internet. We also develop to user a statistical system which is programed with ASP for user to handle easily in manufacturing system.
A Methodology and Reliability for Selecting the Optimal Model among Ten Models of Crushing Machine with Various Constraints

It is not difficult to see the road repairing. There are many and various machines which crush road surface. The efficiency and power of the machine depend on crushing head-shape, crushing interval, crushing load, crushing stress, machine's dropping height and roller's kind. The objective of this study is to select the optimal model among ten models of crushing machine with constraints such as crushing depth, variation, and crushed particle size. And then this paper provides the valid theoretical base on selected model. The data for this study are chosen from the site of construction in Kangnung during three months (2004. 6. 1
2004. 8. 31). The provided methodology in this paper will be fruitful not only for the selection of crushing machine but also for the aspects of construction period, cost, work efficacy according to the condition from the various sites of construction.
A Study on the Job Satisfaction of HapKiDo Instructors

This study was analyzed to job satisfaction of 318 Instructors who are teaching HapKiDo, a martal art. The analysis is based on social and economic variables such as age, occupation, educational background, income, size of gymnasiums, the number of students, a length of training and the rank of skills (DAN). The study also made some helpful suggestions for better treatment to HapKiDo Instructors. To explore Instructors degree of satisfaction with their jobs. I considered their human relationship, job task, working conditions, compensation, the improvement of professionalism and social status. The study drew some important results.: First, Job satisfaction in terms of human relationship is very high(3.88). wheres the satisfaction in terms of compensation is very low(3.10). Second, the differences in job satisfaction were partially significant in terms of human relationship, job tasks, working conditions, compensation, the improvement professionalism and social status.
Study on the Joint Logistics Operation Strategy of the DVD Industrial in Korea

The purpose of this study is to propose a strategic approach to improve firms competitive advantages by selecting main business body and business sector at the same time. In this study the strategy of an efficient business model for joint logistics is suggested by means of searching for a joint program. The methods applied to this study were literature survey, questionnaire and internet information as well as case studies on advanced domestics and foreign logistics enterprises. The research scope of this study has focused on the joint logistics of SMEs being in the DVD(Digital Video Disk) industry sector. The results of this study are shown as follows ; first, in short terms, main business operating body has, second, in long terms, logistics operating enterprise has a direct effect on the joint logistics operation strategy of the DVD(Digital Video Disk) industry in Korea. The conclusion of this study shows that this method as a model of consequence to increase the joint logistics implementation successfully.
A Study on Customer Segmentation Prediction Model using Support Vector Machine

Customer segmentation prediction has attracted a lot of research interests in previous literature, and recent studies have shown that artificial neural networks (ANN) method achieved better performance than traditional statistical ones. However, ANN approaches have suffered from difficulties with generalization, producing models that can overfit the data. This paper employs a relatively new machine learning technique, support vector machines (SVM), to the customer segmentation prediction problem in an attempt to provide a model with better explanatory power. To evaluate the prediction accuracy of SVM, we compare its performance with logistic regression analysis and ANN. The experiment results with real data of insurance company show that SVM superiors to them.
The Determination of Elastic Constant for Ceramic Forming Material by Hybrid Method

The ceramic forming materials are getting more important recently since they are used widely in repairing metal structures, welded metal structures and mechanical components etc. The determination of elastic constants for ceramic coating materials takes much time and efforts in experiment due to the brittleness of ceramic material itself. The aim of this research is to determine the Young's Modulus for ceramic metal coating material. In order to achieve the goal, the hybrid method which uses impulse hammer technique for experimental method and modal analysis of finite element method for computational method was used. The results show good agreement with existing experimental data on Young's Modulus.
