Safety Analysis using bayesian approach

We construct the procedure to predict safety accidents following Bayesian approach. We make a model that can utilize the data to predict other levels of accidents. An event tree model which is a frequently used graphical tool in describing accident initiation and escalation to more severe accident is transformed into an influence diagram model. Prior distributions for accident occurrence rate and probabilities to escalating to more severe accidents are assumed and likelihood of number of accidents in a given period of time is assessed. And then posterior distributions are obtained based on observed data. We also points out the advantages of the bayesian approach that estimates the whole distribution of accident rate over the classical point estimation.

A Study on the Efficiency Analysis for the Operations of the Safety Patrol applying the DEA Approach

All of the city gas companies in Korea must employ the gas safety patrols by law. The gas safety patrols are responsible for the various tasks including daily gas pipeline patrol to prevent gas accidents. Since the size of jurisdiction varies among the city gas companies, it is very difficult to compare their efficiency for the operations of the safety patrol each other directly. The objective of this research is to develop the methodology to analyze and compare the efficiency of the safety patrol's operations among various city gas companies. Several factors that are related to the safety patrol's duty on the gas safety factors were identified and DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) model for efficiency analysis was developed. Finally, the DEA model was applied to the collected data from six city gas companies. The less efficient city gas companies can benchmark the higher efficient city gas companies in order to improve the safety control systems.
A Survey on the Safety Management in Korean Logistics Industry

Logistics has been recognized as a growing industry in Korea. Accidents in Korean logistics industry are listed up in this paper. As accidents in Korean Logistic industry increasing rapidly, lots of researches on the safety management in logistics industry are published. We surveyed those Korean research papers including supply chain management. Research papers are classified by logistics function and logistics area. Some logistics area still have not been researched on safety management.
Analysis of Somatotype Characteristic according to Dividing Line of District on High School Girls

There are two parts(middle and southern) according to dividing line of district in Korea. Middle part contains Kang Won, Chung Chung, Gyeong Gi, Seoul, In Cheon and Dae Jeon. Southern part contains Gyeong Sang, Jeol La, Je Ju, Bu San, Dae Gu, Ul San, and Gwang Ju. It is known that there are some differences between middle and southern part on weather. The climatic differences might affect human body. Thus, the mall objective of this study is to analyze effects of climatic differences which influence somatotype characteristics on residents in two regions. In order to compare and analyze data,
index and drop-value were used. Also, this paper provides typical ratios according to dividing line of district.
Development of Integrated Model for Accelerated Life Test Using Linkage Parameter

This paper is to present linkage parameter to integrate statistical models and physical models for accelerated life test. Statistical models represent the relationship of probability distribution and life. Physical models show the relationship of life and stress. Moreover, this study proposes the four steps for construction of integrated models for accelerated life test using linkage parameter. Finally, this paper develops new integrated models such as extreme value distribution-general Eyring, linearly increasing failure rate function-general Eyring, etc., and estimates various reliability measures.
Impact of Special Causes on First-Order System Feedback Process Adjustment

A special cause producing temporary deviation in the underlying process can influence on process adjustment in First-Order System feedback control system. In this paper, the impact of special causes on the forecasts and the process adjustment that is based on the EWMA forecasts are derived for a first-order system. For some special causes with patterned type of contamination, the influence of the causes on the output process are explicitly investigated. A data set, contaminated by a special cause of level shift, is analyzed to confirm the impact numerically.

Project Scheduling for Object-Oriented Development in Matrix Organization

This paper discusses a scheduling problem on object-oriented developments over multiple teams with limited resources in matrix organization. The objective of the problem is to minimize the makespan of overall projects. There are tangible and intangible advantages such as efficient resource share, improvement of productivity, development efforts and cost reduction, etc. by dispatching resources properly to the development teams. Traditionally, the project scheduling has been done with a manager's intuition or heuristic. We present a scheduling model with illustrative examples, stochastic search approach, and apply a variety of problems generated randomly to the approach. The results are analysed.
Building a Machining Knowledge Base for Intelligent Machine Tools

Intelligent machines respond to external environments on the basis of decisions that are made by sensing the changes in the environment and analyzing the obtained information. This study focuses on the construction of a knowledge base which enables decision making with that information. Approximately 70% of all errors that occur in machine tools are caused by thermal error. In order to proactive deal with these errors, a system which measures the temperature of each part and predicts and compensates the displacement of each axis has been developed. The system was built in an open type controller to enable machine tools to measure temperature changes and compensate the displacement. The construction of a machining knowledge base is important for the implementation of intelligent machine tools, and is expected to be applicable to the network based intelligent machine tools which look set to appear sooner or later.
Feasibility and Validity of u-4PL(Fourth Party Logistics) System with RFID

Logistics creates a boom in accordance with the recent new technique's development along with the recent RFID/USN of ubiquitous computing technique. The wave of 4PL(Fourth Party Logistics) that added the strategic consulting based on new IT techniques to logistics outsourcing through existing 3PL service with is a great issue. Moreover, the customer enterprises which contained manufacturers and distributors need the one stop service, therefore a method for effectively dealing with global logistics' environment changes is needed. Above all, a development of the 4PL system with RFID is very urgent. We developed the RFID u-4PL system progressed more than the present system, in which we applied many international standards. Finally, we constructed the web service based on Web 2.0 because of important condition of 4PL.
A Road Database Update Method for Vehicle Routing Using GPS Cellular Phone

As the use of vehicle route application and LBS(location based service) are fast grew, the importance of maintaining road network data is also increased. To maintain road data accuracy, we can collect road data by driving real roads with probe vehicle, or using digital image processing for the extraction of roads from aerial imagery. After compare the new road data to current database, we can update the road database, but that job is mostly time and money consuming or can be inaccurate. In this paper, an updating method of using GPS(global positioning system) enabled cell phone is proposed. By using GPS phone, we can update road database easily and sufficiently accurately.
A Study on the Demand Research for Facilities of Logistics from Factor Comparison

To build a most efficient and competitive warehouse, need to reflect tenants various opinions in advance such as location, rentable size, leasing terms, rental, configuration of the building, building structure, traffic flow and amenities. Thus a survey for major tenants which are logistics, retailers and manufactures should be done to figure out potential demand and marketing strategy to lead to be a competitive warehouse. However above survey is time consuming work and requires high cost involvement thus to avoid such an inefficient process and to facilitate investors prompt and right decision making, there should be a tool which helps to make a decision process easier with simple key factors. In other word, we have used above mentioned 'Demand Approach' so far but here I am introducing 'Factors Comparison' which reflects location factors and facility factors. I derived Kwang-myung logistics park's proper rental rate through 'Demand Approach' which analyzed Seoul Metropolitan area's rental warehouse status and rents, and also defined a size of potential demand area and rental. And this report compared the result with an outcome of 'Factors Comparison' then compared each methods and drew a conclusion of 'Factors Comparion's better convenience and efficiency.
A Study on the Minimum Scale of Business for Transportation Enterprises

The objective of this paper is to calculate the minimum scale of management for transportation business in order to achieve a form of enterprise. In this study the tracking minimum scale of business is the minimum number of operating trucks. Transportation companies should ensure the number of trucks for a type of business model rather than a means of livelihood model. The method to calculate the minimum number of trucks for the transportation business model can use an approach of either the qualitative and the quantitative technique. This study chooses the quantitative technique to calculate the minimum number of trucks through the analysis of break-even point.
The Effects of Success Factors of Six Sigma on the Management Performance

This Purpose of this paper is to suggest the effects of success factors of six sigma on the management performance. This dissertation deal with key factors that led to successful implementation through existing literature. Therefore, this major success factors of six sigma revealed performance of cost reduction and improving quality. This study is empirical analysis the effects of six sigma performance of cost reduction and improving quality)on the management performance(profitability, growth, market value). The results of this study, six sigma quality performance turns out to have positive(+) effect on the all management performance.
A study on the managemnet Efficiency of LCD Equipment Industry

Everyone knows how much the company business goal is achieved is the most important to all companies. In order to maximize the business performance, many companies have introduced a diversity of management innovation activities. The effect of business performance is important in the business activity, but an efficiency of output-to-input concept is significantly important. Each year, companies have managed the business through a sum of performance. In terms of the efficiency of business performance, the management is importantly managed. In the efficiency of business performance, there are the main items including the total assets, employees, and operating expenses as the input. As the output, there are the main items of sales, current term's net income. This study is intended to calculate the business efficiency through DEA analysis for companies' business performance, and to study in order for the efficiency of business performance to be considered when the companies establish the mid and long term business plan.

In this study, as the result of analyzing the relationship and influence between economic outcome and R&D supporting investment, the number of supporting subjects among the technological innovational areas of SMEs, it is as below. First, as the economic result of analyzing companies from the investment in R&D of technological innovational areas of minor companies, the number of supporting subjects and amount of R&D have relationship with increase of sales and export amount, employee reduction & the effect of new job creation shows positive correlation with the effect of import replacement. Second, as analyzing the influence of the investment in R&D has economic effect from of technological innovational minor companies. This is thought that the financial and R&D support increase a significant effect on economical, technical against SMEs.
Organizational Citizenship Behavior and Service Quality Promotion using OB Modification

With the radical change of business environment, all service companies' employees are forced to provide many customers with high service quality every day, and the extra role(or organizational citizenship behavior) is more imperative than other industry. The purpose of this paper is to introduce Luthans & Kreitner's Organizational Behavior Modification(OB Mod) model to improve organizational citizenship behavior and service quality. With analyzing the relationships among target behavior(service quality), antecedents(OCB), and consequences(customer satisfaction), this paper reviewed OB Mod's 5 stages; identifying, measuring, functional analysis of the behavior, development of an intervention strategy, evaluation. This model has found to be useful in finding and improving troublesome employee behaviors in USA, but not been verified in Korea. Thus it is recommended to review the difference of organizational culture and practices before introducing the model.
Requirements Improvement Plan of Professional Engineer License for International Mutual Accreditation

Currently, there are two major problems in professional engineer(PE) licensure system in Korea to be accredited internationally. One is a incompleteness of system connecting the licensure and the accredited engineering education program and the other one is a insufficient working experience condition required for achieving PE license. Therefore, these two problems are setbacks hindering Korea's PE license accredited internationally. In this study, international tendency stream on mutual accreditation of PE license are reviewed first, and the PE licensure system of the major countries are compared and analyzed. Based on the results, requirements improvement plan are suggested and the gradual implementation method are suggested also.
