On an Approach to Developing the Operational Architecture for a Railway Safety Information System

This article addresses the question of how the operational architecture for a railway safety information system should be developed. A successful railway safety information system can be developed by fully reflecting the business process and needs at the enterprise level. To date, there has been minimal research effort towards the development of the operational architecture for a railway safety information system. To this end, a variety of enterprise architectures have been studied so far. In this paper, as an important guideline, DoDAF (Architecture Framework) is selected to be used in developing a railway safety information system. In particular, we propose a method to implement the operational architecture based on DoDAF.
The Design of valuation table for Activation of a Accident-Free-Campaign

According to industrial disaster statistics by the Ministry of Labor in 2006, out of 11,688,797 people working at 1,292,696 business places that apply Industrial Disaster Indemnity Act, 89,910 workers were involved in an accident that more than 4 days of medical treatment requires. Among this figure 2,453 people lost their precious lives. "89,910 industrial disaster victims per annum" is showing the safety level of our industrial situation. To prevent such industrial disaster, the most typical and distinctive method is Accident-free Campaign. At the beginning, the movement arose with devotion through out the entire industry. But, the heartbreaking fact is that the fever is getting cool gown as times goes by. Therefore, opportunity for revitalization of this movement is required. The movement should be practically supporting principle of respect for human life and dignity. And it should be established with analysis on industrial disaster and systematize Accident-free Campaign totally in connected research.
A Study on Calamity Index Evaluation Based on FRAT - Construction Safety -

The construction industry by its nature retains higher level of danger where the smallest of error may lead to a major catastrophe endangering many workers and public safety as well as provoke social criticism. With the aid of quantitative statistical data on safety-related calamity analyzed till this day, this paper handled in depth the analysis of diseases other than the accidents, and selected new variable indexes that influence the indirect sections of calamity that are mostly concealed and incorporated them in a new model. For the factor selection of new calamity evaluation model, FRAT(Frequency, Recency, Amount, Type of merchandise/service)technique of customer-related management in marketing was applied, and as for the significance of each factor in the weight selection of variables. Consequently, considering the graveness of the FRAT itself through safety management experts, the related researches must be expanded.
On Improving the Electrical Safety Systems based on the Systems Engineering Method

In this paper we discuss the problems related with the existing electrical safety system that is influenced by all the socio-technical factors including the electrical safety law, government organizations, and their practicing rules and regulations. Sometimes intangible practices also affect the safety issues. It is our intention to incorporate all those factors effectively and systematically in improving the electrical safety system. Since, the problem in nature is so complex, an approach based on the systems engineering (SE) method could be a good candidate. Specifically, as a first step of the SE process we performed the requirements analysis of all the factors mentioned above and some recommendations from the experts in the field. In the work environment utilizing a computer-aided SE tool, the requirements are verified and managed efficiently although the data base is complicated in general in tracking the changes. Next, by analyzing the verified requirements, a functional architecture is developed to achieve an improved electrical safety system. We also did the reverse engineering of the existing electrical safety system to explore potential problems there. The result can also help improve the existing one. Overall, a systematic approach to constructing electrical safety system based on SE is proposed for the first time in this paper. Note that the method described here can be adopted in the study of other safety systems.
Analysis on the Actual Conditions of Safety Management about Small Sized Enterprises - Focused on to Small Enterprises in Kyunggi Area -

The safety management of the small sized enterprise is very important to decrease industrial disaster in the area of industry. On this research, to give the effective measures to decrease industrial disaster, we administered the workplaces in Kyunggi area to search actual condition of industrial disaster and to disclose a link between industrial and industrial safety management. The results show industrial accident characteristics of small sized enterprises in Kyunggi area. So it is shows that we need to put in effective safety political measures to small sized enterprises.
Reliability Assessment Methods for Electronic Component Removed Environmental Materials

Recently, all kind of 21C-typed electronic goods show the tendency of hightechnology and digital convergence rapidly. Also, failure mechanism which differs from original goods concept presents. Today, failure mechanism which differs from one that was happened by restricted harmful environment material before adapted the raw of environment material is changing the paradigm of reliability engineering. Thus, when applied the environment matter of original and secondary material at the electronic goods were removed, reliability assessment method and prediction stay into low level. This study suggests as solution to overcome these phenomenon. The study on the management method of environmental restriction substances which is recognized as important element in the reliability assessment about environment material of electronic goods and the study on reliability assessment method of PWB without environment material are progressed.
A study on the adoption of an optimal dependability management system using a DEA model

Corporations are faced with the key strategic task of adopting a comprehensive management system of a new paradigm in order to enhance their products' quality, safety, and reliability, as well as to minimize the cost of quality. The purpose of this paper is to present a methodology that can be used by corporations to ensure a product's reliability, safety, and maintainability, with minimal costs, by measuring dependability levels and conducting DEA analysis. The methodology will be a way for corporations to adopt an optimal dependability management system based on a quality management system of ISO 9001:2000 standards.
An Analytic Study of the cognitive features of the Korean civilian pilot-ATC controller aviation English language use which affects job performance

This study deals with the overall meta-cognitive aspects of ATC-Pilot miscommunications pertinent to cognitive human errors based on the previous literature research which it has been focused on the issue of the global aviation English use in regard with aircraft accident and incident. Especially, it addresses the concern over the ICAO aviation English language proficiency evaluation program which will be implemented globally in March, 2008. In addition, It presents the analysis related to the on-going English language proficiency level four test conducted for Korean civil airlines pilots and air traffic controllers.
On an Efficient Development of the Test & Evaluation Plan through the insured Traceability of the Safety Requirements

It is well known that the test and evaluation plan (TEP) is very crucial in the successful development of safety-critical systems. As such, this paper discusses an approach to the development of the TEP for a system that should meet safety requirements in the systems development process. It is studied how to incorporate the result of preliminary hazard analysis (PHA) in generating the safety requirements. It is also discussed how to deal with them when the system requirements (i.e., functions, performance, constraints, components, etc) and the safety requirements are integrated into one model. While doing so, we have constructed the required traceability among them, which is necessary and very useful when the safety requirements need to be corrected or be changed. The use of the traceability makes it possible to easily check out whether and how the safety requirements are properly incorporated in the system design process. Furthermore, without the verified traceability, the system cannot be changed or upgraded later. In order to implement the model on a computer-aided tool, we have constructed a database (DB) schema. As a result, the implemented model/DB allows to automatically generate TEP which can be used to measure the performance and safety level of the developed system.
The mediating effect of service quality between internal marketing and customer satisfaction

This paper reviewed the relationship among internal marketing, service quality and customer satisfaction, and the mediating effect of service quality. Based on the responses from 163 hotel employees and 489 customers who encountered them, the results of hierarchical regressional analysis showed that all internal marketing factors have positive relationships with service quality, and service quality has positive relationship with customer satisfaction. Also, service quality has mediating effect between four internal marketing factors(education, compensation, delegation of authority, and internal communication) and customer satisfaction.
Measuring Customer Satisfaction for KTX(Korea Train Express) Service using SERVQUAL

The era of express train in Korea has come since April in 2004. The KTX(Korea Train Express) which has introduced the technology of TGV of France is regraded as good as the ICE of Germany or Shinkansen of Japanese in its hardware aspects. However there are still many things to be improved in its software aspects such as the quality of services, since the new express railway system is in the early beginning stage. To improve the quality of services, we should first measure and analyze the current level of the service quality. Using SERVQUAL model, the service level of KTX is measured and analyzed in this paper. Issues on how to improve the service quality are discussed based on the measurement and analysis.
Customer Satisfaction Strategy of the College Considering Capital Budgeting

Quality function deployment(QFD) is becoming a widely used customer oriented approach. The aim of this paper is to present an analytic method of quality function deployment that is to maximize customer satisfaction, using a customer satisfaction survey conducted in the college in Korea. Combining weights and satisfaction indices, "performance/important" diagrams are to develop and this grid can be used in order to identify priorities for decision making. Also, this paper shows a 0-1 integer programming model for maximizing customer satisfaction subject to a budget constraint in QFD planning process with case study.
A Study on RFID System Design and Expanded EPCIS Model for Manufacturing Systems

In the recent years, the companies have manually recorded a production status in a work diary or have mainly used a bar code in order to collect each process's progress status, production performance and quality information in the production and logistics process in real time. But, it requires an additional work because the worker's record must be daily checked or the worker must read it with the bar code scanner. At this time, data's accuracy is decreased owing to the worker's intention or mistake, and it causes the problem of the system's reliability. Accordingly, in order to solve such problem, the companies have introduced RFID which comes into the spotlight in the latest automatic identification field. In order to introduce the RFID technology, the process flow must be analyzed, but the ASME sign used by most manufacturing companies has the difficult problem when the aggregation event occurs. Hence, in this study, the RFID logistic flow analysis Modeling Notation was proposed as the signature which can analyze the manufacturing logistic flow amicably, and the manufacturing logistic flow by industry type was analyzed by using the proposed RFID logistic flow analysis signature. Also, to monitor real-time information through EPCglobal network, EPCISEvent template by industry was proposed, and it was utilized as the benchmarking case of companies for RFID introduction. This study suggested to ensure the decision-making on real-time information through EPCglobal network. This study is intended to suggest the Modeling Notation suitable for RFID characteristics, and the study is intended to establish the business step and to present the vocabulary.
A Study on the Establishing System of Truck Collaboration for Transportation Enterprises

The objective of this paper is to study the establishing system of truck collaboration and to reduce traffic cost for participating transportation enterprises. The system of truck collaboration can enhance the transport efficiency and to reduce traffic cost without new investment for trucks and equipments. The type of truck collaboration should be enumerated (1) the system of head and branch base (2) the system of central terminal (3) the system of separating collection and delivery for cargo (4) the system of cooperating cargo order and truck allocation. The efficiency of truck collaboration is possible to be realized for transportation enterprises, receiver and sender of cargo.
A Study on Development of Service Process based on RFID for Air Logistics

We must adapt to the rapid speed of information-oriented society well for outstanding central logistics nation of 21th century's Northeast Asian. Moreover, we must provide customers or enterprises with sufficiently satisfactory service about diversified desire of customers. In particular, we try to find the service process with RFID about air logistics that has many demands and is required to develop accurate and rapid service technique. As a result, we apply RFID to overall process of air logistics. After that, we will test the process and analyze results of the test. We are going to provide real possibilities of RFID enterprise and other service process. We will promote technology development of service process for air logistics' service.
A Study on Development of Movable u-POS System based on RFID

Recently, retail store automation appliance market is changed with traditional POS systems techniques and RFID, radio POS system, and self checkout system, etc. in the foreign advanced distribution industry. Retailers and consumers require convenient POS system which can provide more functions and fast service. These requests bring to rapid evolution of various H/W and S/W corresponding with POS system. In this study with the POS systems and the RFID technology we develop core technology of movable u-POS system based on RFID that can use in large store. So we propose u-Cart system that can alternate the current shopping cart and POS terminal and that provide value added services to customer. As the result we present the configuration of u-Cart terminal device(WMDT : Wireless Mobile Data Terminal) including RFID reader module that can provide various information to consumer and some convenient client applications that are running in WMDT and u-POS administration service module.
A Study on Evaluation and Improvement of Production Process Using Arena and Six Sigma in Small and Medium Enterprise

This study deals with the improvement of production process on a flow production system with the consideration of six sigma. We analyze the production process and survey the important factors of improvement of productivity. Using a six sigma, we find strategic point and suggest a reformation of production process. We applied a simulation technique to simulate the production line proposed by the result of the Six sigma. With the result of the simulation, this study analyzes the propriety of production line and proposes the alternatives of new production process.
Seatbelt alarm lamp lam-function improvement: Red-X a case application

The objective of this GM Red-X project was to reduce customer complaints on Kalos, Lacetti, Magnus as reported through 2004.1 - 2005.1 warranty performance. Seatbelt alarm lamp mal-function problem is connected with safety. So it is critical issue. Seatbelt alarm lamp mal-function which caused by buckle occurred 22 cases from 2004.1 to 2005.1.
A Study on the Job Dispatching using AutoMod

The purpose of this paper is to develop an efficient production strategy with changing factors to influence the productivity. The factors would be the number of Multi-Function worker, the method of job dispatching, and lot size. A simulation model has been developed for this study. We used AutoMod simulation and the process activity was animated to follow the flow of process easily. The alternatives have been tested through the simulation model, and the various alternatives is proposed for the efficient production strategy. We hope that the system is applied to similar types of small and medium-sized enterprises to develop an efficient production strategy and to achieve the satisfactory result.
Concept and Type for Degree of Freedom in Quality Statistics

This paper presents real examples of quality statistics for users to easily understand the concept and purpose for obtaining the degree of freedom. Moreover degree of freedom by Satterwaite can be used for linear combinations of unbiased variance. Finally effective degree of freedom by Welch-Satterthwaite is applicable to obtain expanded uncertainty considering type A and type B uncertainty.
Development of Ceramic Pigment using Brass Scrap

Ceramic pigments were developed by using 4 kinds of Brass scraps. Each Brass scraps were mixed with same weight-ratio of Husk ash, and fine-ground by Rotate ring mill(RRG-120, Armstech industrial. co. Ltd, Korea) after firing at
. As a result, analysis of particle size of synthetic pigments by particle size analyser, they are
as average. The resulting pigments were characterized by using XRD, FT-IR, SEM Structure of the crystals are Zn2SiO4,, and ZnO, Cu2O, CuO, and cristobalite are existed and particles' shape are plate or needle. As a result of analysis of chemical composition by XRF, synthetic pigments have high SiO2 and CuO content and have SnO2, ZnO and NiO, too. 1wt%, 3wt% and 5wt% pigments were added in each lime glaze, lime-barium glaze and lime-magnesia glaze, and fired at oxidation and reducing atmosphere to figure hue in glazes out. As a result of analysis of color, chroma and brightness by UV, colors of glazes fired at oxidation atmosphere turned into green from sky blue, and colors of glazes fired at reducing atmosphere turned into pink and red.
A study on the Plan for Enhancing Internal Customer Satisfaction for Hybrid Weight

Nowadays the customer is classified with external customers and the inside customers. Which are not only end users who consume products but also all people who contribute to their earnings through the management activity of the enterprise. Furthermore, the fact that the external customer satisfaction index and inside customer satisfaction index are closely related is supported by many researches. It is interpreted if the inside customer satisfaction is not improved, achievement of the external customer satisfaction cannot be easy. In this paper, First, we will deduce the inefficient index through DEA model in each department after setting up the weight of items of inside customer satisfaction and measuring them. Second, as well as research entire models about improvement methods of inside customer satisfaction getting improvement methods for reaching a goal in the minimum amount of efforts.
