The Analysis of Student-student Verbal Interactions on the Problem-solving Inquiry Which was Developed for Creativity-increment of the Gifted Middle School Students

The purpose of this study was to develop problem-solving inquiries for the science gifted and to analyze the effects of problem-solving inquiries. The problem-solving inquiries were composed of scientific knowledge, scientific inquiry skills and creative thinking. The problem-solving inquiries were applied to the science gifted attending the institute of the gifted education. The test of science-creative problem solving (TSCPS) was used to know effects of improvement of science-creativity and the result of TSCPS showed the improvement of science creativity. The analysis of student-student dialogues during experiments showed that the type of dialogue was different on the type of problem-solving inquiry. The dialogue of convergent thinking was frequently showed up on the problem-solving inquiry needed logical thinking whereas that of divergent thinking on the problem-solving inquiry needed idea generation. The problem-solving inquiries had a positive effects on the improvement of the science-creativity.
An Analysis of Structural Equation Model on the Scientific Problem Finding Ability of the Scientifically Gifted Based on Science Related Attitude, Motivation, and Self-regulation Learning Strategy

The purpose of this study was to examine the Structural Equation Model (SEM) of scientific problem finding ability based on science related attitude, motivation and self-regulation learning strategy of the gifted in science. A total of 153 scientifically gifted students were selected from a university-based Sifted education center The instruments used for the study were Test of Science-Related Attitudes, Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ), and Science Problem Finding Test. In order to examine Structural Equation Model (SEM) of scientific problem finding ability, we assumed scientific problem finding model related to science inquiry, model I (domain specific), and scientific problem finding model related to creativity, model II (domain general) The results of this research are as follows. First, the correlations between science related attitudes and MSLQ were significant; motivation and self-regulated learning strategy as sub factors were positively correlated to science related attitudes. Only scientific attitude as a sub factor of science related attitudes was significantly correlated to elaboration of creativity category in scientific problem finding ability. In other hand, self-regulated learning strategy was significantly correlated to elaboration, inquiry motivation and inquiry level in scientific problem finding ability. Second, as the results of SEM analysis, we confirmed model I and model II were the best adequate through the indices of best fit (TLI, CFI>.90, RMSEA<.08); scientific problem finding ability was directly influenced motivation and self-regulated learning strategy but science related attitudes indirectly influenced scientific problem finding ability through motivation and self-regulated learning strategy. Based on the results, the implications for science gifted education were discussed.
The Analysis on Mathematically Gifted Students' Activities Constructing Definition of a Regular Polyhedron

This study was conducted with the focus on the process of constructing 3 definition and produced definitions as well as gifted students' conceptions of a mathematical definition In the study, the students made five types of regular polyhedrons (section1), observed them and stated their characteristics (section2) and then constructed a definition of regular polyhedrons based on their observations (section3). We divided students into two groups by analyzing students' definitions. One group made definitions that were consist with a mathematical definition of regular polyhedrons, the other one made definitions that were not. We checked if they fulfilled requirements for a mathematical definition. Researchers sought to gain various suggestions through the analysis of the observations and definition laid down by the students and through the characteristics shown by the students in the process of defining the concept.
The Reality of Mathematics Gifted Children's Independent Study Ability and Mathematics Teachers' Recognition of Independent Study

In most curricular model for gifted children, independent study is included as an important element for developing students' study ability and producing creative production Gifted children also prefers this style of learning and they study more easily and with more fun when they learn in the learning style they prefer. This study aims to find out how gifted children in math area performs independent study and how teachers who teach them recognize independent study; survey study was used to analyze the reality of the production in relation to independent study. In result, gifted children's independent study ability was rather very low and teachers recognized the necessity of independent study but lacked understanding of the method of independent study.
Study on Improving of Creativity of Gifted Students using the Project-based Task

The purpose of this study is to develop learning materials and teaching model for the gifted, and to examine the improvement of creativity of them in middle schools. Subjects were 126 gifted students, who were the 7th or 8th graders and have been taught in gifted classes of the adjacent Education Institute for the gifted of Boryeong Education Districts, Chungnam Province Office Of Education. Divisions of gifted Classes were logical reasoning, mathematics, foreign language, science. After the instruction of project-based task, gifted students had improved creativity. Especially, instruction using project-based task was more effective on scientifically gifted students. Most gifted students were satisfied with the instruction using project-based task, and attractive in it. Finally, it was suggested that the instruction using project-based task should be actively used for the gifted students.
Development and Application of the Sea Wave Experimental Module for the Gifted Students in High School Earth Science

This paper is focused on the development of sea wave experimental module for the science gifted students and the potential of its application in high school earth science. Sea wave experimental module for the gifted was characteristics by five phases: Engagement, Exploration, Explanation, Elaboration, and Expansion. Subjects were 16 gifted students, who were 10th graders and have been taught in the adjacent Education Institute for the gifted of Education Districts, Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education The changes of inquiry ability and knowledge achievement were analyzed according to analysis of experimental report and pre-test and post-test. Experimental module for the gifted was very effective on inquiry skills as follows: control of variables, experimental designing, and selecting tools of experimental process. And also it was positively effective on achievement. The result of this study suggested that experimental module for the science gifted should be very meaningfully to improve scientific ability of them, and the development and application of experimental module for the science gifted be needed for them.
