gas. This diode laser absorption sensor with high temporal resolution up to 10kHz was applied to measure the gas temperature in the spray flame region of liquid-gas 2-phase counter flow flame. The successful demonstration of time series temperature measurement in the spray flame gives us motivation of trying to establish non-intrusive temperature measurement method in the practical spray flame.
Electrostatic Charging Measurement and PVC Separation of Triboeletrostatically Charged Plastic Particles using a Fluidized Bed Tribocharger

A particle flow visualization, electrostatic charging measurement and separation of triboelectrically charged particles in the external electric field by a fluidized bed tribocharger are conducted for the removal of PVC particles from mixed waste plastics. The laboratory-scale triboelectrostatic separation system consists of the fluidized bed tribocharger, a separation chamber, a collection chamber and a controller. PVC and PET particles can be imparted negative and positive surface charges respectively due to the difference of triboelectric charging series between particles and particles in the fluidized bed tribocharger, and can be separated by passing them through an external electric field. To visualize these charged particles, He-Ne laser is used with cylindrical lenses to generate a sheet beam. In the charging measurement, the particle motion analysis system (PMAS), capable of determining particle velocity and diameter. is used to non-intrusively measure particle behavior in high strength electric field. The average charge-to-mass ratios of PVC and PET particles are
, respectively. The highly concentrated PVC (91.9%) can be recovered with a yield of about 96.1% from the mixture of PVC and PET materials for a single-stage processing. The triboelectrostatic separation system using the fluidized tribocharger shows the potential to be an effective method for removing PVC from mixed plastics for waste plastic recycling.
LPG Spray Behavior Near Injection Nozzle

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been used as motor fuel due to its low emissions and low cost. This study addresses the analysis of the LPG spray behavior near injection nozzle. The LPG spray photographs are compared with sprays of diesel fuel at the same conditions. The LPG spray photos show that the dispersion characteristic depends very sensuously on the ambient pressure soon after injection. The spray angle is very wide in a low ambient pressure condition until the saturated pressure at this test condition, but the angle value is quickly reduced at the condition over the pressure.
The Effects of Initial Droplet Shape and Number Density on Modeling of Non-evaporating Diesel Sprays

A number of droplet breakup models have been developed to predict the diesel spray. The capabilities of droplet deformation and breakup models such as TAB, ETAB, DDB and APTAB models are evaluated in modeling the non-evaporating diesel sprays injected into atmosphere. New methods are also suggested that take into account the non- spherical shape of droplets and the reduced drag force by the presence of neighbouring droplets. The KIVA calculations with standard ETAB, DDB, and APTAB models predict well the spray tip penetrations of the experiment, but overestimate the Sauter mean Diameter(SMD) of droplets. The calculation with non spherical droplets injected from the nozzle shows very similar results to the calculation with spherical droplets. The drag coefficient which is linearly increased with the time after start of injection during the breakup time gives the smaller SMD that agrees well with the experimental result.
Cooling Performance Evaluation of Loop Type Heat Pipe

According to the improvement of PC performance, it is expected that calorific value, which causes PC to malfunction, is increased. Therefore, the development of new cooling system is recently required. As the method to solve this problem, we applied loop heat pipe to PC cooling system. The advantage of the loop heat pipe is that it has a small size, light weight, simple shape, long life and it has a good performance on heat transfer, no-noise, wide range of applicable temperature and no supply of power from the outside. It is confirmed that loop heat pipe reduces thermal resistance and has a good performance on PC cooling.
