An Analysis Results of Agricultural Ultrasonic Twin-fluid Nozzle
Chung, Jin-Do ;
Journal of ILASS-Korea, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 1~9
The objective of this study is to compare atomization characteristics for differently made an ultrasonic twin-fluid nozzle. A spray system, an ultrasonic system, and three different type(Nozzle type, Tube type. Conventional type)are made and compared experimental and numerical results. In this investigation, the measurement and numerical analysis of spray droplet are to analyze the effects of ultrasonic energy on the agricultural atomization spray system in order to protection of dispersion droplets. It is clarified that ultrasonic energy forcing into a nozzle is valid to obtain atomization enchancement. As the result of comparing the experimental and numerical result, it is confirmed that nozzle type is highest efficiency than that of tube type and conventional type, also well fit, respectively.

Journal of ILASS-Korea, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 10~18
In this paper, experimental study on the wan impingement spray of the common-rail diesel injector is performed. To examine the effect of various factors on the development of spray impinging on the wall, experiments were conducted at the various injection pressures. ambient pressures, wan distances from the injector tip, wall temperatures, and angles of wall inclination. The behaviors of the impingement spray ate visualized by using laser sheet methods and a ICCD camera. It is shown that the spray path penetration of the wall impingement spray increases with the increase of injection pressure, wall distance. wall temperature, wall angle. On the other hand the spray path penetration of the wan impingement spray decreases with the increase of ambient pressure.

In this study, experimental study on atomization characteristics of the fuel spray impinging on the wall was at different wall distances and angles of wall inclination. The fuel injection system was composed based on the common rail system. and the injection signal was synchronized by the delay generator. The atomization characteristics of the injected spray were analyzed in terms of the SMD and velocities which were measured by using the phase Doppler particle analyzer system. It is revealed that the free spray is atomized actively above 50mm form the injector tip. In the cases of the impinged spray, the 5MD and velocity of the impinged spray are smaller than those of the free spray. The impinged spray has the maximum near the 35mm of the radial distance from the injector axis, and the atomization performance is enhanced with the decrease of the wall distance.

Journal of ILASS-Korea, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 27~32
It is important to improve the efficiency of the existing small scale burner which used in agricultural product dry system and gardening dry system. In order to economize fuel Consumption and decrease the exhaust emission especially
, the better design for the small scale burner is needed. Spray characteristics are the essential element for the design. Macroscopic spray characteristics such as spray angle and breakup length were measured. SMD which is contained the Microscopic spray characteristics was measured too. SMD was measured at 8mm, I2mm, I6mm downstream of the nozzle tip for both Hago and Danfoss nozzles by the Malvern Particle Sizer.

Journal of ILASS-Korea, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 33~40
The low-emission and high-performance diesel combustion is an important issue in the combustion research community, In order to understand the detailed diesel flame involving the complex physical processes, it is quite desirable to diesel spray dynamics, auto-ignition and spray flame propagation. Dynamics of fuel spray is a crucial element for air-fuel mixture formation, flame stabilization and pollutant formation, In the present study, the diesel RCM (Rapid Compression Machine) and the Electric Control injection system have been designed and developed to investigate the effects of injection pressure, injection timing, and intake air temperature on spray dynamics and diesel combustion processes, In terms of the macroscopic spray combustion characteristics, it is observed that the fuel jet atomization and the droplet breakup processes become much faster by increasing the injection pressure and the spray angle, With increasing the cylinder pressure, there is a tendency that the of spray pattern in the downstream region tends to be spherical due to the increase of air density and the corresponding drag force, Effects of intake temperature and injection pressure on auto-ignition is experimently analysed and discussed in detail.
An Experimental Study on the Drop Size and the Combustion Characteristics around the Bluff-body
Hwang, S.H. ; Kim, D.J. ;
Journal of ILASS-Korea, volume 8, issue 3, 2003, Pages 41~48
This work was performed to investigate the distribution of the fuel droplet size around the bluff-body and the combustion characteristics. The bluff-body is used fur the purpose of increasing the combustion efficiency by stabilizing the flame. Diameters of the bluff-body in this experiment are 6, 8, and 10mm and the impingement angles are
. The measurement points were at the distances of 20 and 30 mm axially from the nozzle. The geometry of the bluff-body influenced the spray shape and the combustion characteristics. The SMD was acquired by image processing technique (PMAS), and the mean temperatures were measured by thermocouple. In the condition of
, the values of SMD are not greatly varied compared to the other conditions. As the angle of bluff-body was increased, the high temperature region was wider along radial direction. When the air-fuel ratio was larger than 5.2, the NOx concentration was decreased, and an increase in the diameter of the bluff-body decreased the NOx of emission.
