Accuracy of Position by GPS at Korean Southeast Coast
Journal of the Korean society of Fisheries Technology , volume 29, issue 2, 1993, Pages 87~93
This paper is described on the positioning accuracy of GPS which has observed from November. 1991 to September, 1992 in Korean southeast coast. The main results give as follows. 1) A daily variance of positioning error is irregularly, and the average error of the latitude and the longitude are 15.1m, 22.7m respectively. 2) The usable satellites in Korean southeast coast from Panggojin to Chisepo are SV satellite number 2, 3, 11～21, 23～26 and sv 28, of all these sv 3, 16, 17, 23, 24 and 26 can be observed in all the area. 3) A circle of the average radius enclose 95% of the measurement points are 72.9m and the average shift distances from standard position are 34.6m. 4) The variation of PDOP(HDOP) at each measurement points are coincide with the one of distance error.
Environmental Factors and Catch Fluctuation of Set Net Grounds in the Coastal Waters of Yeosu
Journal of the Korean society of Fisheries Technology , volume 29, issue 2, 1993, Pages 94~108
In order to investigate the relation between the environmental properties and catch fluctuation of set net fishing ground located in the coastal waters of Yeosu, oceanographic observation and catches on the grounds were carried out from Jan. to Dec. in 1990 and 1992. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1) Because of the surveyed area is a costal shallow water, the fishing ground was influenced largely by atmospheric phenomena such as air temperature. precipitation. etc. and so showed large variations in temperature and salinity yearly. The inner water flowed out mainly between Yeosu ad Namhe-do, and then through Kumo-do between Dolsan-do and Kumo-do. On the other hand, off shore water was supplied into the fishing ground from the vicinity of Sori-do and Yokchi-do. thus the fishing ground was occupied usually by various sources of water. 2) The water mass in the fishing ground were divided into the inner water(29.0～30.6
) and the mixed water(31,7～32.2
) and off shore water(32.3～32.8
) accourding to the distribution of salinity from T-S diagram plotted all salinity data observed in 1990 and 1992. In summer the inner and mixing water which was formed by river flowed southerly and spread south-easterly in the vicinity of Kumo-do. The off shore water which supplied from the vicinity of Sori-do and Yokchi-do and inner water formed the thermal front and halo front in summer. 3) The fishes caught by the set net were arranged in the order of catch amounts as follows: Spanish mackerel>Horse mackerel >Hair tail>Common mackerel> Sardine> Anchovy. The Catches of anchovy and sardine were high in April to May and those of hair tail and horse mackerel in July to September, but spanish mackerel were caught during the whole period of fishing. When inner water and mixing water appeared respectively and inner water and mixing water speared together in the set net fishing ground, the set net showed a high catch.
Improvement of the Accuracy of Supershort Baseline Acoustic Positioning System in Noise Conditions

Journal of the Korean society of Fisheries Technology , volume 29, issue 2, 1993, Pages 109~116
Underwater acoustic positioning systems have been extensively used not only in surface position fixing but also in underwater position fixing. Recently, these systems have been applied in the field of installation and underwater inspection of offshore platforms etc. But in these systems are included the fixing errors as results of a signal with additive noise and irregular motion of vessel by ocean waves. To improve the accuracy of the position fixing a Kalman filter is applied to the supershort baseline (SSBL) acoustic positioning system with beacon mode in noise conditions. The position data obtained by the Kalman filter is compared with raw position data and it is confirmed in the simulation that the former is more accurate than the latter. And an indicator monitoring the filtering effect is described while ship's moving.

Journal of the Korean society of Fisheries Technology , volume 29, issue 2, 1993, Pages 117~123
In order to analysis the tensile properties of the high-tech fibers for fishing gear materials. tensile strength was tested on raw materials, single yarns and netting twines(plied yarns)made of nylon, kevlar 29 and techmilon respectively. The results obtained are as follows: 1. The tensile stress and tenacity of unknotted single yarns in dry and wet conditions were 3 to 3.5 times greater in the high-tech fibers than in nylon. But the elongation of the high-tech fibers was about 15% of that in nylon. 2. The tensile strength of knotted single yarns in dry and wet conditions was arranged in order of as follows : techmilon. kelver 29, and nylon. The ratio of knot strength to tensile strength, knot efficiency, was the highest in nylon. 3. The tensile strength of unknotted netting twines in dry and wet conditions was 2.3 to 2.5 times greater in the high-tech fibers than in nylon. 4. The tensile strength of knotted netting twines in dry and wet conditions was arranged in order of as follows : techmilon, kevlar 29, nylon. The knot efficiency was the highest in nylon.

Journal of the Korean society of Fisheries Technology , volume 29, issue 2, 1993, Pages 124~131
Recently. with the rapid development in large sea water systems. there occurs much interest in the study of erosion-corrosion. In this study. the mild steel(SB41) was tested by using of a erosion-corrosion test apparatus with fountain-jet and was investigated under the environments of liquid, air-liquid 2 phase flow and solid particle-liquid 2 phase flow. Main results obtained are as follows : 1. The weight loss by corrosion-erosion in air-liquid 2 phase flow are more increased than that in only liquid solution. 2. Effect of air-liquid 2 phase flow on corrosion-erosion sensitivity becomes more sensitive in natural seawater than that in distilled water. 3. The corrosion potential by corrosion-erosion in air-liquid and solid particle-liquid 2 phase flow becomes noble than that of only liquid solution.
A Study on the Dynamic Response Analysis of Shell Structure with Impulsive Load by Reanalysis Technique
Journal of the Korean society of Fisheries Technology , volume 29, issue 2, 1993, Pages 132~151
The proposed method in this paper. termed the substructural reanalysis technique, utilizes the computational merits of the component mode synthesis technique and of reanalysis technique for the design sensitivities of the dynamic characteristics of substructurally combined structure. It is shown that the dynamic characteristics of the entire structure can be obtained by synthesizing the substructural eigensolution and the characteristics of the eigensolution for the design variables of the modifiable substructure. In this paper , the characteristics of the eigenvalue problems obtained by this proposed method are compared to exact eigensolution in terms of accuracy and computational efficiency. and the advantage of this proposed method as compared to the direct application of the whole structure and experimental results is demonstrated through examples of numerical calculation for the dynamic characteristics (natural frequencies and mode shapes) of a flexible vibration of thin cylinderical shell with branch shell under 2-end fixed positions, boundary condition. Thin cylinderical shell of overall length 1280mm, external diameter 360mm, thickness 3mm with branch shell is made of mild steel. The load condition for dynamic response in this paper is impulsive load of which magnitude is 10kgf, which have short duration of 0.1 sec. and time interval applied to calculate.

Probabilistic Simulation for Extraction of Reliability Design Data
Journal of the Korean society of Fisheries Technology , volume 29, issue 2, 1993, Pages 152~161
This paper deals with the effect of spatial distribution of material properties on its statistical characteristics and numerical estimation method of reliability of fatigue sensitive structures with respect to the fatigue crack growth. A method is proposed to determine experimentally the probability distribution functions of material parameters of Paris law. da/dN=C(ΔK/K sub(0) ) super(m), using stress intensity factor controlled fatigue tests. The result with a high tensile strength steel shows that the distribution of the parameter m is approximately normal and that of 1/C, is a 3-parameter Weibull. The main result obtained are : (1) The theoretical autocorrelation of the resistance, 1/C, to fatigue crack growth are almost same for different lengths. (2) The variance decreases with the increasing a averaging length. When spatial correlation length is very small. the variane decreases significantly were the averaging length. (3) The probability distribution of load cycles or the number for a crack to reach a certain length can be estimated using these functions by simulation of non-Gaussian(expecially Weibull) Stochastic Process.

Journal of the Korean society of Fisheries Technology , volume 29, issue 2, 1993, Pages 162~167
We have investigated analytically and numerically on both the generalized dimension D sub(n) and the fractal dimensionality f sub(
) in the dissipative Willbrink map. and discussed both the mode-locking phenomenon and the dissipative trajectory when z=0.03, b=0.9 and K sub(d) =0.272313668. In the mode-locking phenomenon. we find that the generalized dimension D sub(-n) and superconverged
sub(n) are very close to D sub(-
) =0.92403 and
) =2.16442 even for n～20 as listed in Table 1. In dissipative trajectory, the values of D sub(+n) and D sub(-n) for n～20 are estimated to be very close to D sub(+
) =0.63267 and D sub(-
) =1.89802 on the circle map. Thus, the values of the generalized dimension as nlongrightarrow
on dissipative Willbrink map are expected to be the same results as those for the circle map and to have the universal scaling exponents for a special scaling structure when the values of overbar(w), z, b, and k sub(d) have the different values.
