A Study on Design of FES Hardware System for Walking of Paraplegics

This paper describes and discusses the employment of HMG pattern analysis to provide upper-motor-neuron paraplegics with patient-responsive control of FES ( functional electrical stimulation) for the purpose of walker-supported walking. The use of above-lesion EMG signals as a solution to the control problem is considered. The AR(autoregressive)parameters are identified by time-varying nonstationary Kalman filler algorithm using DSP chip and classified by fuzzy theory. The control and stimuli part of the below-lesion are based on micro-processor(8031). The designed stimulator is a 4-channel version. The experiments described above have only attempted to discriminate between standing function and sit-down function A further advantge of the this system Is applied for motor rehabilitation of social readaption of paralyzed humans.
Computer-Assisted Multiple Temperature Measurement of Infant Incubator

A micro- computer system has been designed to evaluate the performance of commercial infant incubator and to develope the temperature controller of new incubator. The measure- ment system used a hybrid of analog electronics for amplification, integration, and switches and micro-computer for data storage, data display, and control of relay. This approach has been applied to measure the warm-up time, temperature stability, open/close door and port- holes, and temperature distribution on the mattress. The micro-computer provides on-line ac cess of multi-point temperature data, simplifies the analog part of the circuit and gives the flexibility.
Measurement of Varying Stimulus Evoked Otoacoustic Emission Latency Using cross Correlation

Cross correlation method was newly applied for the calculation of latency of evoked otoacoustic emission. The latency was calculated froth the main peak of cross correlation function, which is one of Possible definition of latency. The output was also compared with those of conventional autocorrelation method. The results show that cross correlation method has better Performance than that of conventional method.
Development of Impedance Plethysmograph and Measurement of Digital Blood Flow

In this study electrical impedance plethysmograph was developed and each ten digital blood flow was measured for eight nomal males and a patient tvith digital arterial reconstruction surgery. Blood flow of the digit with surgery was approximately fourty percent compared to that of the other normal digit. For the normal subjects, right - handed subjects generally have larger blood flow in right fingers than that in left fingers while it was reverse for the left - handed subjects. The relative average magnitude of the digltal blood flow Is the third, first, second, fourth, and fifth digit in descending order for the left and rich hand, respectively. Blood flow of the fifth digit for all subjec!s except one was the smallest among the five digits.
In Vitro Test of Seiong Pediatric Ventricular Assist Device

Ventricular assist device(VAD) has been clinically applied as a temporary circulatory sup- porting system in the patients with severe heart failure, but small sized VAD for infant is not available. The purpose of tilis paper is to introdIAce small sized VAD and presents the result of in vitro test. Sejong VAD is diaphragmatic type of pneumatic pump and stroke volume is 11cc. Cardiac outputs of the Sejong VAD were measured by overflow tank under variable conditions of driving parameters. The cardiac output was 1.3 1/min at the heart rate of 120 per minute, left atrial pressure of
, percent systole of 43%, driving pressure of 240 mmHg, vacuum pressure of -40 mmHg, and mean aortic pressure of 70 mmHg. No mechanical problem was developed during the continuous in vitro test for 3 months.
The Analysis of the Information Capacity of Digital Radiography System

In this paper, the information capacity, the intergrate performance measure of digital radiography system has been quantitatively analyzed. The effect of various factors affecting the information capacity of the digital radiography system in multistage detection processes has been considered and analyzed In detail. The results show that the more information capacity can be obtained with the smaller detector cell area, despite of the reduced signal to noise ratio due to the reduced number of X ray photons per detector cell. Considering the limit of human visual acuity, however. the sufficient resolution will be obtained when the detector cell size in
with 8 bit quantizaion. And also the results indicates that the information capacity may be severely reduced by the mixture of electric noise in final read-out stage.
A Study on the Quantification Error due to the Reconstruction Filters in Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography(SPECT)

As the computerized methods and equipments In nuclear medicine imaging increases, quantitative information is needed on the single photon emission computed tomographic Images as well as on the conventional nuclear medicine images. In this paper, the authors investigated the effect of several clinician - friendly reconstrution filters on the resultant transverse slices of backprojected Profiles of radioisotope distribution from the Quantitative point of view, and reduced the filter parameters such as cutoff frequency and order of filter which are neces mary to minimize the quantification error using computer-generated phantoms.
Camera Position Estimation in Castor Using Electroendoscopic Image Sequence

In this paper, a method for camera position estimation in gasher using elechoendoscopic image sequence is proposed. In orders to obtain proper image sequences, the gasser in divided into three sections. It Is presented thats camera position modeling for 3D information extvac lion and image distortion due to the endoscopic lenses is corrected. The feature points are represented with respect to the reference coordinate system below 10 percents error rate. The faster distortion correction algorithm is proposed in this paper. This algorithm uses error table which is faster than coordinate transform method using n -th order polynomials.

-(3-hydroxypropyl glutamine)/Poly (ethylene glycol)block Copolymer Hydrogel and Its Application to the Artificial Skin

ABA type block copolymers composed of poly(
L-glutamate) (PBLG) as the A component and poly (ethylene glycol) as the B component were obtained by polymerization of
L-gletamate N -carboxyanhydride, initiated by amino groups at both ends of poly(ethylene glycol) . From circular dichroism measurements in ethylene dichloride solution as well as from infrared spectTa measurements in solid state, it was found that the polypep- tide block exists in the a-helical conformation, as in PBLG homopolymer.
(3-hydroxypropyl glutamine) (PHPG)/poly(ethylene glycol)block copolymer hydrogel was obtained by the treatment of PBLG/PBG block copolymer with the mixture of 3-ammine-1-propanol and diamlnooctane. The water content of PHPG/PEG block copolymer hydrogel was about 80wt% when the concentration of crosslinking agent was below 5 mole % per polymer.

Design of Arrhythmia Automatic Diagnostic System Using Decision Table We have developed an arrhythmia automatic diagnostic system using decision table which is based on the criteria of Minnesota code. This system is divided into two Parts. One is wave detection algorithm using significant point extraction method, the other is arrhythmia diag- nostic algorthm. The proposed system allows physicians to diagnose more accurately by pro- viding the objective information about a lot of computer -processed ECG data.
