Volume Rendering Technique for 3-D Visualization and Its Performance Improvements

Semi-transparent volume rendering technique can provide 3-D visualization well by voxel level Processing and alleviate segmentation arf, ifacts compared wish the surface rendering technique. In this Paper, we consider several new schemes which can improve she Perform ance of volume rendering. A directional interpolation method is proposed to reduce the artifact due to the anisotrophic resolution in X-ray CT data. The computation time for rendering is shortened by using the depth information of the 3-D object. And also, we reduce the quantization artifacts in the rendering by introducing the opacity-dependent sampling interval to sampling in ray-tracing.
A study on the Screening of the Abnormal Cells for Automated Cytodiagnosis

This study is concerned on the automation for cell diagnosis which has better objectivity and speed of test than human beings. Diagnosis is on the basis of shape change of abnormal Cells. Used parameters are nucleus area, nucleus perimeter, nucleus shape, cytoplasm area, nucleus/cytoplsm ratio, which was obtained using image processing technics. A new mode method is proposed on the automatic threshold selection for superior process time compared with Otsu's. Contour of the cytoplasm of abnormal cell is obtained using me- dian filter and sorel operator. The mask to get only original shape of abnormal cells is formed uslng the contour filling algorithm. In the result the normal cells are separated from the abnormal cells and the abnormal cells can be distinguished through screwing of abnormal cell's image with reference data to judge abnormal cells. Owing to this study the number of inspections which the pathologists should examine will be decreased and the time for inspection will be shortened.
A Study on the Detection of Pulmonary Blood Vessel Using Pyramid Images and Fuzzy Theory

For the automatic detection of pulmonary blood vessels, a new algorithm is proposed using the fact that human recognizes a pattern orderly according to their size. This method simulates the human recognition process by the pyramid images. For the detection of vessels using multilevel image, large and wtde ones are detected from the most compressed level, followed by the detection of small and narrow ones from the less compressed images with FCM(fuzzy c means) clustering algorithm which classifies similar data into a group. As the proposed algorithm detects blood vessels orderly according to their size, there is no need to consider the variation of parameters and the branch points which should be considered in other detection algirithms. In the detection of patterns whose size changes successively like pulmonary blood vessels, this proposed algorithm can be properly applied
Tactile Type Hangul Identification System the Blind(1)

In this paper, we have developed page level input system of the character reading aid for the blind. Input toys)ems arse consisted with 512 pixels line image sensor, optical lento, digital interface for the computer and its control software. Input buffer size of the computer memory that for the single scanning of printed matters Image is 64kB. Image patterns of the reading characters which stored in system memory are converted to tactile character patterns that would be output to the bimorph tactile sensor by software control.
Development of Monitoring System for Biotelemetry Diagnosis of Multichannel ECG Data

This paper describes the implementation of a 3 channel ECG monitoring system. This system consists of an IBM-PC and simple accessory only. A PDTS (parallel data transmission system ) was designed to do monitor the data being operated with no effect and no exchange of software and hardware on the main transmission system in LOCAL mode. And it receives patient's ECG data from EPTS ( ECG processing and transmission system) of distant region. It provides on-line ECG waveform display, waveform storage, recall and editing the waveform. We have implemented the monitoring system by tw methods, and with system, we could directly monitor the EPTS and also receive the data from the remote ㅁe잉ion. This system was tested by experiments and examined its practical use.
QRS Recognition Using Attribute Grammar Interpreter

This paper presents a QRS recognition algorithm using attribute grammar and its interpreter. This system extracts primitive and their attributes by linear approximation technique and then represented linguistic formation using attribute grammar. These nonterminals and their attributes are evaluated by attribute grammar interpreter. The performance of the QRS recognition algorithm has been evaluated using arrhythmia simulator and CSE ECG library.
A QRS Pattern Analysis Algorithm for ECG Signals

This paper describes an algorithm of pattern analysis of ECG signals by significant points extraction method. The significant points can be extracted by modified zerocrossing method, which method determines the real significant point among the significant point candidates by zerocrossing method and slope rate of left side and right side. This modified zerocrossing method improves the accuracy of detection of real slgnficant polnt Position. This Paper also describes the pattern matching algorithm by a hierarchical AND/OR graph of ECG signals. The decomposition of ECG signals by a hierarchical AND/ OR graph can make the pattern matching process easy and fast, Furthermore the pattern matching to the significant points reduces the processing time of ECG analysis.
