A study on an Ambulatory Monitoring of Vital Signs for Anxiety

This research has reported that the selection and assessment of treatment in anxiety disorders depend to a large extend on patient reports of somatic symptomatology. However, the correspondence between such reports and actual physiological data Is unknown as the physiological measures used were taken in laboratory. The purpose of the ambulatory momboring device is, therefore, to present for analysis physiological data derived from the sub jects during their daily activities. The physiological parameters of interest are heart rate, respiratory rate, skin conductance level/response, skin temperature, and activity level. This device had an microcomputer based data acquisition unit, Interfaced to it for the purpose of data collection. The data is collected usually over a period of 12 hours. The data from the ambulatory monitoring device can be used to assess the psychophysiology of anxiety in the field. The data from the device will also reveal if patients who report different sets of symptoms differ physiologically too. Thls will help physicians for the right kind of treatment and also solve the many uncertainties that have existed thus far in quantizing anxiety.
A Study on the Development of PC-card for Information Transmission of Medical Image in the Environment of ISDN(Intergrated Service Digital Network)

This paper described the implementation of high speed transmission fort medical image between hospitals using ISDN. The implemented system, called PC-card, can transmit datas as 144Kbps and can install in the personal computer. So, this enables to get more reliable medical image with less cost, and to service the better quality for an unurbanized area. In the study on the quantitative diagnosis using ultrasound, the stability and precision of tissue characterized parameters are important for the clinical application. We estimate attenuation coefficient introducing homomorphlc process Into the modified spectral differnce method about silicon-madu phantom. We compare the results with those estimated uslng the method used for obtaining the attenuation map image before. Homomorphic process has the effect smoothing the reflected echo signal spectrum, therefore eliminat os the random pattern of the signal spectrum generated by the scatterers. As a result, it Is shown that the stability is enhanced
A Study on the Development of the PCR System Using Personal Computer

A system using a personal computer has been developed for Polymerase Chain Reaction, an amplifying process of specific DNA. This system is composed of software and hardware which contains a control system, a heating and cooling system, a multichannel A/D converter, and a personal computor. The software is programmed'in assembly'and basic language. The newly developed PCR system which is controlled by the program of the personnal computor can be applied 1.o the amplification of various DNA. This system was tested by using Mycobacterium tuberculosis DNA and showed the DNA band on the UV transilluminator.
Detection of Distinctive Points in Impedance Cardiogram during Exercise by Cross-Correlation Method

As the ensemble averaged dz/dt signal during exercise gets smoothed, it is difficult to find the distinctive marks for estimation of stroke volume. The cross correlation function was made use of estimating these marks for automatic calculation by computer from the ensemble averaged dz/dt signal. LVET( Left Ventricular Ejection Time) and stroke volume were estimated based on the calculated parameters from the characteristic points. LVET, stroke volume calculated by hand, by the ensemble average and the cross correlation were compared for accuracy validation.
A Study of ECG Pattern Classification of Using Syntactic Pattern Recognition

This paper describes syntactic pattern recognition algorithm for pattern recognition and diagnostic parameter extraction of ECG signal. ECG signal which is represented linguistic string is evaluated by pattern grammar and its interpreter-LALR(1) parser for pattern recognition. The proposed pattern grammar performs syntactic analysis and semantic evaluation simultaneously. The performance of proposed algorithm has been evaluated using CSE database.
A Design of the Ambulatory ECG Monitoring System for the Remote Automatic Diagnosis

This study describes the ambulatory ECG monitoring system for the remote autom atic diagnosis. System: tlardware is based on one chip microcomputer(80c31) and its peripherals which consists of A/D, EPROM, RAM, LCD display and two preamplifiers, Power circuits, control logic circuits. A/D converted data were differentiated and low pass filtered. The detection of QRS complex and R point were accomplished by software algorithm based on adaptive threshold computed on low pass fi:leered signal. Rhythm analysis is performed by RR interval and average RR interval. The performance of QRS detection algorithm is evaluated by using MIT/BIH data base. Using this system, the trends of the arrythmia during the long term could be saved and displayed.
Design of the Speech Signal Processores for Cochlear Prosthesis

Two types of the speech signal processores (SSP) for the cochlear a prosthesis are designed. One is designed using the cochlear model and the other is designed using the information (formant, pitch, intensity) extraction method. For these, some cochlear model and acoustic information extraction method are proposed. The result shows the SSP of the cochlear model type contain more acoustic cues than that of information extraction type. On the other hand, stimulus signal is clear and algorithm is simple in the SSP of the information ex traction type.
Dye Leakage Measurement in Time Series Flucrescein Ocular Fundus Photographs

In this paper, the inter- and intra-frame distortions in the gray levels of a series of fluorescein ocular fundus photographs are corrected. For doing this, the background images are extracted from original images using the image blurring effect by decimation, and then shading corrected images are obtained by subtracting the background images from the original images pixel by pixel. In a series of fluorescein ocular fundus photographs, after the gray scale distoriton is corrected, the intensity volumes of dye leakage are measured and represented by a graph. These data may be useful for the prediction of prognosis and the therapeutic management.
Development of 64 Channel Cardiac Mapping System Using Microcomputer

Computer assisted cardiac mapping system has made it possible to display local activation times of the heart using a simultaneous multi-point data aquisition system, and opened an era in electrophyslology guided cardiac arrhythmia surgery especially in ventricular tachycardia. In this study, we have developed a 64 channel computerized cardiacmapping system us:ng a micro-computer for basic reasearch of electrophysiology and electrical propagation in cardiac arrhythmias. The significant tasks of this study were the simultaneous acquisition of large amount of data from 64 sites, accurate and rapid analysis, and the effective display of the analyzed data. To solve these problems, we made a 64 channel signal pre-processing board in order to amplify and fitter the raw signals. And we developed the soflu'are Yor cardiac isochronous mapping whictl is presented immediately ama computer-generated graphics. This system is expected 4o enable us to study pathophyslology of cardiac arrhythmia and to improve the results of diagnosis and surgical treatments for cardiac arrhythmia.
A Study on the True RMS Measurement of Electrical Unit for Performance Test

This paper describes the results of study on the measurement method of TRMS (true root mean square value) In electrosurgical unit. We used three type (direct computing type, indirect computing type, thermal converting type) in the measurement of TRMS. Three types of measurement method were compared with respect to power level, frequencey and crest factor in addition to environmental temperature.
