The Study of the Image and Positioning according to Stripe Pattern and Clothing Style

A purpose of this study was to find out how the casual and formal style clothes of stripe pattern giving variety by pattern direction, pattern width, and contrast coloration have an effect on image of wearers. 432 stimuli were made and 2,800 testee evaluated them using semantic differential scale. As a result, five image dimensions were drawn as a factor of attractiveness, activeness, gracefulness, visibility, and tenderness. In consequence of analysing the image difference by stripe pattern and clothing style, the stripe pattern and clothing style affect image presentation as a significant clue. And besides, as a result of positioning stimuli by image, pattern direction, coloration, and tone combination were important clues that decide image. Consequently, clothing style, stripe pattern, and contrast coloration were made clear as an efficient parameter in image presentation of clothing wearers.
A Study of the Embroidery Design Properties in Fashion Collection

In this research, by yearly subdividing and analyzing the characteristic of the embroidery design according to the garment item with a season the high value added is raised for a differencing and high performance conversion of the high fashion design and there is an object. In 2004, when the total 474 chapter was selected in S/S season till F/W season in 2008 and the embroidery design characteristic according to the kind of an item the analyzing method and statistical method was used. As to the first, and the embroidery design in which it follows of the garment item showed the stylized, and the plant motive of the geometric pattern by an edge and composite arrangement in an one-piece and blouse with the satin stitch and cut work technique. A monotone and the bright tone were used. The second, and the season different difference, the out line stitch, an applique, and the cut work technique S/S season were a feature. A plant, and the animal motive were expressed as the front arrangement and the monotone of the achromatic color appeared. As to F/W season, the long short stitch and satin stitch techniques were with the characteristic profit. The abstract motive showed up as the edge alignment and composite arrangement. And the plain tone and the monotone of the chromatics combination color are used. In the third, and the chronological difference, an applique the embroidery technique showed up in the out line stitch, and 2007 years in 2004 years and 2006 years. And the sentence motive of the animal, and the abstract motive the embroidery motive are embossed in 2005 years and 2006 years in 2008 years.
The Symbolistic Values of Western Beards` Style in the Twentieth Century

The purpose of this study is to research the symbolistic values of western beards` style in the twentieth century. Namely, it is to consider the relationship between social-cultural factors and aesthetic meanings of western beards` style. The contents are, firstly, studying the conception and the types of beard. A beard is the hair that grows on a person`s chin, cheeks, neck, and the area above the upper lip. At the World Beard & Moustache Championships, there are moustache category (natural, english, hungarian, dali, fu manchu, freestyle), beard category (natural, musketeer, goatee, sideburns, freestyle), and full beard category (natural, garibaldi, verdi, van dyck, freestyle), Secondly, this paper is continued by researching the history of beard from the ancient to the present day, and thirdly, analyzing political dictatorship, social resistance and expression of personality, religious dignity, related with the change of world situation, the formation of postmodern anti-culture and pop-culture, and the coexistence of traditional culture. There are long and bushy full beards in some religions like Hinduism, Judaism and Islam. The meanings of their beards are purity, life and holiness. The beards of some politicians symbolize dictatorship. Namely, the chaplin of Hitler, the moustache of Hussein and the musketeer of Castro express strong power and charisma. In 1950s`-70s` subcultures, Hipsters` goatee, Bikers` horseshoe, Beat generations` goatee and Hippies` natural represent the lack of adaptability and social resistance. Also, the celebrities and artists like Ronald Colman, Clark Gable, Don Johnson, George Clooney, and Salvador Dali express freedom, personality, and taste with beards. For that matter, the symbolistic values of beards` style in the twentieth century are the religious dignity, the political dictatorship, the social resistance and the expression of personality. Today the beards` style is one of fashion items as well as a symbol of masculinity, customs and classes.
A Study of the Clothes Phenomenon of the Heian Period of Japan

The purpose of this study is to investigate the causes of clothes phenomenon of the ruling class women on the Heian period of Japan in the aspects of politics, economics, society, culture, and religion. The findings of the study are as follows. The main characteristics of the Heian period of Japan may include a rare sense of internationalism, low sense of nationalism, and frequent cases of political intrigue. However, noble culture, centered on royal court, was flourished and it enabled to develop sophisticated and graceful culture. During the Nara period and the Heian period (from
century), there were enormous changes in the clothes, starting from the mid
century. The clothes of the ruling class in the Heian period underwent changes from the imitative clothes-imitating the clothes of the Tang age of China- to Japanesque clothes-adding the aesthetic consciousness of Japanese ruling class people. Particularly, the clothes of the ruling class women became massive, majestic, and decorative. The changed clothes had also features such as layered look, utilizing underwear as outer garments, using a wide variety of colors, and using hard and solid materials to make clothes. It can be concluded that the clothes of the ruling class people in the Heian period were affected by plural factors such as national and international political situation, economics, society, culture, and religion. The clothes were used by ruling class people as means of expressing their noble and sophisticated beauty, which led to produce humanistic beauty. The Heian period can be described as an era of the highest reach of humanity.
Effects of Cosmetics Shopping Mall Attributes on Revisit Intentions of Total Mall and Specialty Mall at Internet

Cosmetics retailers would benefit from studies that examine which shopping-mall attributes can be manipulated to favorably affect consumer satisfaction and revisit intention at Internet. The purposes of this study were (1) to examine the dimensionality of shopping-mall attribute for cosmetics retailers, (2) to determine which dimensions of shopping-mall attribute were significant predictors of consumer satisfaction and revisit intention and (3) to find out the moderating effect of consumer satisfaction through shopping-mall attributes on revisit intention to buy cosmetics across the types of shopping-mall at Internet (i.e., total mall and specialty mall). Data were collected from 209 online cosmetic shoppers among high school girls. Factor analysis identified five dimensions of shopping-mall attributes at Internet, such as Convenience, Price, Loading speed, Sales promotion, and Service. Only two dimensions(i.e., convenience and service) were significant predictors of online shopper satisfaction in both total mall and specialty mall. The moderating effect of consumer satisfaction on revisit intention was significant in both two mall types at Internet. For total mall, price was a significant predictor through consumer satisfaction on revisit intention, while loading speed was a significant predictor directly on revisit intention for specialty mall. In light of the major findings, this study sets forth strategic implications for consumer satisfaction and revisit intention to buy cosmetics in the setting of electronic commerce.
A Study on the Selection Behavior and the Post-purchase Satisfaction for Men`s Suits

This study is a survey research for adult men in their from 20`s to 50`s. The purpose of this study is to find out that demographic characteristic, material knowledge, and purchase price have what effect on the selection behavior and the post-purchase satisfaction. The results are as follows. The purchase place according to demographic characteristic showed the significant difference in ages, monthly income, and occupation. The purchase amount per a dress suit and the having quantity of dress suits showed the significant difference according to all demographic characteristics. The importance of an selective criteria in case of selecting dress suits showed the partly significant difference according to demographic characteristics. The post-purchase satisfaction showed the no significant difference according to demographic characteristics, but showed the significant difference according to the knowledge degree for materials and purchase amounts. The interaction effect among demographic characteristics, the degree of knowledge for materials, and the purchase amount showed frequently the significant difference between two variables. The factor which have most greatly an effect on post-purchase satisfaction of menswear was the degree of knowledge for materials.
Effect of Shopping Value, Customer Satisfaction, Switching Barrier on Consumer Royalty of The Website

The purposes of this study were to investigate the impacts of shopping value, customer satisfaction, and switching barrier on consumer loyalty to website. For this purpose, the study tested covariance structural model which set relationships among independent variable(shopping value), meditated variables(customer satisfaction and switching barrier), and dependent variable(website loyalty). The data were collected from a sample of 239 internet shopper of college female students. The covariance structural model and research hypothesis analyzed by using SPSS 16.0 and AMOS 5.0 program. The results are as follows: First, the structural model is accepted significantly. Second, shopping value had a positive influence on customer satisfaction and switching barrier. Third, shopping value, shopping satisfaction of customer, and switching barrier had a positive impact on website loyalty. Forth, shopping value had a positive impact on website loyalty directly, it was found to have a indirect effect on website loyalty through customer satisfaction and switching barrier.
A Qualitative Study on Information Quality Recognition of Fashion Designers & Merchandisers : Focused on Satisfaction/Dissatisfaction Factors

This study was fulfilled in the purpose of proposing construction strategies of fashion information industry through the analysis of information user`s satisfaction/dissatisfaction on information quality. The research was performed through a depth interview. Data were collected from 18 fashion information users(designers and merchandisers) who were working at fashion apparel industry during October to November 2007. Results from the study showed that there were three dimensions and 18 components of satisfaction/dissatisfaction on fashion information quality: Information quality(understandability, value-added, level of detail, relevance, diversity, objectivity, completeness, accuracy, quantitativeness), Service quality(responsiveness, accessibility, cost efficiency, empathy, reliability), System quality(currency, ease of use, format, timeliness). And the information users were perceiving that there were some changes in notion of preferring information, searching for information and usage of information.
Characteristics and Classification of Armscye Circumference using 3D Scan Data

The purpose of this study was to examine the characteristics of armscye circumference which will be used to develop total contents for the apparel industry. The subjects of this study were 16- to 49-year-old women whose 3D body shape data were analyzed. 72 length and length-ratio measurements were taken to each subject` armscye circumference. The used analysis methods are descriptive statistics, principal component analysis, and cluster analysis. The results are follows; 1. Considering the Length of armscye circumference, the result of principal component analysis were extracted 3 factors and those factors comprised 95% of total variance. As the result of the cluster analysis of factor scores, subjects were classified into 4 cluster by their size characteristic. 2. Considering the length-ratio of armscye circumference, the result of principal component analysis were extracted 5 factors and those factors comprised 96.45% of total variance. As the result of the cluster analysis of factor scores, subjects were classified into 5 cluster by their shape characteristic. So that, this research could be useful to manufacture garment which reflected 3D body figure and improved fitting.
A Development of the Torso Pattern for Obese Middle-aged Women from 3D Virtual Garment Simulation

The purpose of this study was to develop torso pattern of Middle-aged obese women by using the virtual twin and 3D virtual garment simulation system. The results were as follows; 1. By using 3D Virtual Garment Simulation, new torso pattern considered obese women was development. The basic numerical formula were as follows ; bust girth B/2+5, armhole depth B/6+5, front waist girth W/4+2+0.5, back waist girth W/4+1-0.5, front hip girth H/4+1+0.5, back hip girth H/4+2-0.5, chest width B/6+2.5, back width B/6+2.5 and back neck width B/20+2.5. 2. According to the results of the new torso pattern`s appearance evaluation, it estimated more highly than existing pattern in silhouette and ease amount, confirming that new torso pattern is appropriate for the obese women. Also, new torso pattern was evaluated to allow proper space length of bust, waist, abdomen and hip. Virtual models production through 3D body scan data, pattern draft and virtual garment digital program were applied to prototypic design method so as to enhance the fitness of ready-made garments. This study is expected to serve as one of important basic data for ensuing studies that may utilize 3D Virtual Garment Simulation System with 2D patterns, and also for future 3D Pattern Production Program development.
A Study on the Dyeing of PTT(polytrimethylene terephthalate)/Silk Mixture Fabrics with Disperse Dyes/Acid Dyes

The dyeing of poly(trimethylene terephthalate)(PTT)/silk mixture fabrics can be accomplished by a two bath dyeing method with separate application of the disperse dyes on the PTT, reduction cleaning of the stained silk and then dyeing the silk with the acid dyes, or by one bath dyeing method with mixed dye ranges, possibly followed by a cleaning treatment. The two bath dyeing method has the advantage of better results with respect to dry cleaning fastness properties thanks to the possibility of an intermediate reduction clear. On the other hand, as compared with the two bath dyeing method, one bath dyeing method with a mixed dye range permits rapid and more reproducible dyeing, without the risk of great difference with respect to the shade of the strike on both substrates as well as savings of time, energy and water usage. This study was carried out to investigate dyeing characteristics of PTT/silk mixture fabrics with disperse dyes/acid dyes by one bath dyeing method in comparison with two bath dyeing method in the interests for rationalization of the dyeing process.
A Study on the Comfort Properties of Carbon Heated Socks (I) - A Study on the Subjective Sensitivity and Emotional Sensibility of Chitosan/SUS Fiber Socks Fabrics-

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of fiber contents of socks fabric on the subjective sensitivity and emotional sensibility of consumers. We investigated the relationship of subjective sensitivity and sensibility according to fiber contents and color value of socks. We made five plain knit fabrics as specimens, with a combination of chitosan/SUS fiber contents and three value levels of grayish color. The subjects were 15 males and 54 females in the twenties. The data analysis was conducted with Pearson`s correlation analysis, ANOVA, Duncan multiple range test, and regression analysis. The major finds were as follows: A factor analysis showed that subjective sensitivity was classified into five factors (bulky, surface-rough, elastic, attention, and variety) and emotional sensibility was into four factors (salience, stability, luxury, and activity). There were significant correlation between the subjective sensitivity and emotional sensibility. The subjective sensitivities of `surface-rough` and `elastic` were significantly influenced by fiber contents. The sensibilities of `salience` and `luxury` were significantly influenced by fiber contents. Where as the `salience` and `roughness` were significant influenced by color value level. According to sex, there were significantly difference in `bulky`, `elastic` and `salience`. As a result of the regression analysis, preference, consuming desire and satisfaction appears to be closely related with all subjective sensitivity and sensibility.
A Study on Improvement of Size Table Sign for Clothing

Since July 2007, the government has banned the use of the existing non-legal measurement units, and has forced us to use the unified legal measurement. Therefore, the existing clothing size unit also has been changed into centimeter dimensions from inches. However, consumers have been familiar to used to the traditional inches unit. So they have the confusion to directly survey the size table sign for clothing or to contact the employee when purchasing clothing. By the current size table sign the customers can compare the inches unit and centimeters unit, but they are difficult to see it. Therefore, there is necessary to improve the size table sign by the way that can be easy to be found and seen by consumers is given to the clothing corners. In this research, three improved size table signs were developed. And they were evaluated by the consumers in terms of preferences and awareness of them. Eventually, the best size table sign was selected. From this result, if the large-discount mart use the best improved size table sign on behalf of the current one, the problems of existing size table sign will overcome and improve customer satisfaction.
Effects of Cleaning Methods on the Change of Color and Dimensions in Denim Fabric

Denim is one of the most frequently used fabrics for blue jeans. After washing denim fabric frequently changes its size and color. Salespersons recommended that after purchasing blue jeans customers should dry clean them once before washing. The aim of this study was to investigate to what degree washing with a household washing machine and dry cleaning affected the dimensions and the color of denim fabric. The denim fabric shrank greatly after the first laundering in warp direction regardless of whether it had been dry-cleaned or not. However, it shrank little from the second to the tenth laundering and after each number of dry cleanings. The thickness of the denim changed in the same way as the shrinkage occurred when the number of launderings or dry-cleanings increased. Although the indigo came out of the denim into washing liquor, both of the
values and the
values of the laundered and the dry-cleaned denim fabrics were lower than those of the control fabric. Darkening of the fabric after washing attributed to the shrinkage in warp; specifically the deep-blue warp yarns more spaced on the fabric face and the back. The
values of the dry-cleaned fabric decreased less than those of the laundered. The value of
increased much less than the other values. Staining of the white cotton fabric laundered with the denim fabrics became less as the number of launderings increased. The degree of staining from the dry-cleaned denim was much lower than that of the laundered fabric.
Evaluation of Clothing Comfort and Anti-atopy Properties by Human Wear Test -Focused to Inner Wear Natural Dyed with Bamboo Charcoal-

This study examined several dyeing properties, physiological responses and comfort sensation of cotton knit underwear dyed with bamboo charcoal. The cotton knit underwear dyed with bamboo charcoal and treated with chitosan showed 99.9% antibacterial property and improved deodorization, and colorfastness. Eight children with atopic dermatitis worn underwear dyed with bamboo charcoal during 4 months. Their parents reported fewer itches of children. Wearing cotton knit underwear dyed with bamboo charcoal and non-dyed with bamboo charcoal respectively, these eight children rested for 20 minutes, then exercised for 10 minutes, and then rested for 30 minutes in the room maintained
Children`s rectal temperature, skin temperature and microclimate inside garment of two types of cotton knit underwear were compared. As a result, the rectal temperature and skin temperature were higher when children were wearing underwear dyed with bamboo charcoal than non-dyed underwear. The microclimate temperature and microclimate humidity at the back of children were lower when children with underwear dyed with bamboo charcoal exercised and recovered.
