A Study on the Allegory in LadyGaGa`s Fashion Style(Part 2) - Focused on Music Video -

This study examines the various expressions and immanent value of fashion and beauty style based on Craig Owens`s Allegory theory. I analyzed four application elements of Borrow, Site Specificity, Accumulation of Strategy, and Hybridization in? Ladygaga`s Music Videos. The results are as follows. `Borrow` presents a kitsch style and playful Pop-art style, transformation of gender from Mini Mouse body suit, telephone headpiece, and can hair. `Site specificity` presents the temporarity of fashion material through rebirth, aging, natural extinction from the chain over the black jump suit, crime scene tape, and skull-face makeup with masculine style. `Accumulation of strategy` presents a futuristic chic fashion style from a layered style, retrospective fashion, repetition and duplication in Music Videos. It shows the physical beauty of an Asian warrior style in Poker Face. `Hybridization` present Cyborg feminism and `Will of Power` from iPOD LCD glasses and Pyro-Bra. The Pyro-Bra represents how the female body can be used as a weapon in the outfits of Lady Gaga. In addition, Immanent value is as follows. Textual interaction with high art is accomplished through a combination of contemporary social and cultural significance to understand the cultural code and to extend the value. Combined with high culture, popular music genre is accomplished through musical appreciation by a woman in fashion styling and sensual pleasures of the body as a tool to express a sublime advantage. Fashion style is accomplished by overcoming a self-transcendent body image representation. The way in which mutual coupling dismantling, destruction, and uncertainty is to re-launch the static, with a pluralistic context of Textuality.
A Study on the Visual Image of Windsurfing suits

The purpose of this study is to analyze the style of the windsurfing suits and to extract main expressional words for the development of semantic differential scales of visual images according to the change in the style of windsurfing suits. The results of this study are as follows: 1) By a period of activity and its functions of windsurfing suits, they were classified into dry suit, wet suit, semi-dry suit and warm water. 2) Windsurfing suits were assorted into 4 kinds of designs: the design #1 on a suit with long sleeves and long pants, the design #2 on a suit with half sleeves and long pants, the design #3 on a suit with half sleeves and half pants, and the design #4 on sleeveless and half pants. 3) Main expressional words of visual images for windsurfing suits differ greatly depending on the design of windsurfing suits. The visual images for the design #1 are ranked in the order of `sporty`, `looking like arms that are slim`, `looking like thighs that are slim`, `looking slim`, `neatbbb, `practical`, `difficult to wear`. The visual images for the design #2 are placed in the order of `sporty`, `dynamic`, `practical`, `cheerful`, `light`. The visual images for the design #3 are ranked in the order of `sporty`, `dynamic`, `light`, `cheerful`, `masculine`, `practical`. The visual images for the design #4 are placed in the order of `sporty`, `dynamic`, `simple`, `light`, `uncomfortable`, `easy to wear`, `looking like arms that are fat`.
Trends and Design Characteristics of Eco Fashion Design

This study investigates trends and design characteristics of recent eco fashion designs on websites. For such purposes, 1185 pictures were collected from the websites of 12 eco fashion brands from 2006 to 2010 to analyze current status and design characteristics. Content analysis and statistical analysis using SPSS will be conducted for data analysis. The results of the research are as follows. First, the change difference according to the year of the eco fashion design. The focus was on, the natural image (from 2006 to 2008), the romantic image (from 2008 to 2009), and vintage, multi, and modern (from 2010). It was noticeable that the forms, colors, and materials changed simultaneously with the various images. The changing progress of eco fashion design was on the design changes according to fashion image changes. Second, after an examination of the characteristic difference of eco fashion designs according to seasons, the difference was shown as a natural and romantic image in the S/S season as well the vintage and classical image focused on the F/W season. It is figurative that S/S season shows a romantic image as well as magnifies a sportive image that is natural and active. Multi, natural and vintage images mostly appeared for the F/W season. In conclusion, eco fashion design is influenced by fashion trends, yearly changes, and seasons.
A Study on the Stage Costumes of Creative Musical Play - Focusing on the Korean Traditional Music Cantata `I Will Rise` -

This study proposes a process to design and analyze stage costumes by design elements for the costumes of the Korean traditional music cantata `I Will Rise`. This study states fundamental references to make costumes of similar performances in the future and develop costume designs based on the format of a play. The findings are as follows. First, the costume production process of `I Will Rise` is conducted in the order of directing intentions and script analysis, costume design, miniature production, costume production, costume modification, run, and post-production. Second, an overall Korean silhouette is expressed through the creation of costumes based on the construction of Korean traditional clothing (hanbok); however, from a detail perspective, a modernistic sensitivity is expressed through the use of modern elements (wing shoulders attached to shoulders, narrow ribbons made in a string form, and wristlets and belts) not found in hanboks. Third, tie-dying is applied to the costume colors of each character to highlight the traditional and unique feeling of dye and symbolic colors that effectively represent each role used to communicate the storyline and character emotions to the audience. Fourth, materials for costumes are cotton and linen (frequently used to create the texture of a Hanbok) as the costume of each character is emphasized to the use of additional and detailed materials such as artificial leather, hemp, and silk.
The Study of the Relationship between Clothes and Brooch in Fashion Collection

Modern people gratify their self-satisfaction to express their distinctive image and symbolic significance through various and sensible direction. The image that is formed by each factor of coordination and harmony of aesthetic characteristic has emphasized its importance in modern society. And also, the item which is conflated by the wearer`s feeling figures the image and it takes a role that lifts the degree of fashion`s completion. For the rapid change of fashion trend in modern society, the role of Jewelry has been emphasized. Even though the shape of Jewelry is tiny, but it has risen as one of the fashion items which could be used for various application. Especially, the Brooches are mainly put on her`s top where they hold someone`s eyes, so it could be regard as Artwork which assists for wearer`s distinctive style and lingering impression. Overviews of Researches Trend in Brooch, they have been concerned about Brooch Design, Internal state of the Accessory in clothes and Accessory Design which is expressed in Fashion. But, the study on the relations between Clothes and Brooch is insufficient. So, in this paper, first of all we arrange the terms according to characteristic of Brooch, and then study empirically for the relations between Clothes and Shape of Brooch, Colors of Brooch, Materials of Brooch in Fashion Collection in order to study for the new physical beauty that is expressed by interaction between Clothes and Brooch.
A Study on Latin American Style Expressed in Modern Fashion

The purpose of this study is to consider the characteristics of Latin American style expressed in modern fashion. Latin American fashion has been overlooked the influences, scope and diversity of dress within this world culture region. So, this study aim to unravel the history and significance of Latin American fashion. As for the research methodology, to classify types of the Latin American fashion style theoretical study and content analysis for Vogue magazine has been undertaken. In this study, the term of Latin American fashion style refers to the dress of common characteristics involving Latin American culture. To inquire into the characteristics of the types, various cases has been searched through books, internet, and designer`s collections. The results of this study can be summarized as followings. The major types of Latin American fashion style are Indio-ethnic style, tropical-exotic style, and latin-romantic style. First, Indio-ethnic style has been involving traditional costumes and patterns which are originated in ancient Mexico and Peru. Second, tropical-exotic style has been involving bright color, tropical fruit and African flower pattern, various textures, and relaxed silhouette which are inspired by free and easy culture in Brazil and the Caribbean. Third, latin-romantic style has been involving the mix of Latin American tradition and romantic detail such as see-through material, lace, ruffle, spanish flower motif. In conclusion, Latin American style on contemporary fashion is based on interest to cannibalize folk theme, technique, icons and exotic others.
The Development of School Uniform Design for the Post-digital Generation

As the 21st century is the post-digital era, a mix of the hard digital and the soft analog realm, the school uniform designs for the post-digital generation need to be changed within this paradigm shift. Thus, this study is conducted with the purpose of developing the school uniform design that reflects aesthetic value and sensitivity of the post-digital generation. The definition and background of the post-digital generation is reviewed and the values of this generation are drawn based on the theoretical research. Also, through the survey of 205 high school girls in Seoul, the purchase, wear & fit, and suggestions for improvement of present school uniforms are investigated. Based on the studies above, the guidelines for designing school uniforms for the post-digital generation are established and the products are developed.
A Study on the Late 19
Century Basic Costumes and Games based on Genre Paintings by Kisan Junkeun Kim - Referred from the book 「Korean Games」 -

The 13 genre paintings by Junkeun Kim in the book "Korean Games(by Stewart Culin 1858~1929)" were used to study the late
century`s basic costumes and Games style in Korea. The people who appear in the paintings are 26 adult males, 2 minor males, 2 adult females and 3 kisaengs. Typical men wore `Jeogori` which had various colors and white linings with a reached hip line, and knotted with a `go-rum` on the right side. They also wore, white colored `Baji` with colorful sash that were knot below knee or ankle together with `Hang-jun` or `Daenim`. They wore `Beoseon`. Some men wore `Po` whose colors were blue, green, indigo, white. The general women wore `Jeogori` in deep green and light pink, indigo, green, red, and they matched with colors for `Kit` and, `Go-rum`, `Kut-dong` and its `Go-rum` was short and narrow. It was so fit and short with narrow sleeve. It had `Dunggun-kit`(round head collar) with white `Dong-jung` and so it fit at neck. They wore `Chi-ma` whose color was red, light green, or light indigo. It contrasted with `Jeogori`. The width of `Chi-ma` was big enough. Then white inner slacks came out under the skirt. Traditional Korean games can be classified according to age and gender. Then the games can be further classified into three categories : men`s games, women`s games, and games for all. The games for adult are an archery practice, hunting, shovel work with a karae, making a bow, drawing Jongkung-chart, Korean chess, playing paduk, and the Korean card game. A swing is a game for women. Games for both men and women are dice play, and domino game. Games for both adult and minor males are sledge, and tightrope walking. Through genre paintings in the
century, I reached a conclusion that basic costumes are similar to `Hanbok` at the present time and the method of wearing them has not changed much. It appears that the originality of traditional costumes has been maintained.
The Analysis of Previous Domestic Online Fashion Store Studies

This research categorizes and analyzes different online fashion store studies conducted over the past 10 years based on study type. The results are as follows. First, it was found that 116 studies out of 118 studies on online fashion stores conducted from 2000 to 2012 were based on PC web. Second, the studies on PC web-based fashion stores were reclassified into 9 different categories based on their topics: purchase behavior, word-of-mouth behavior, website, and product information presentation as well as products for sale, return behavior, customer service, system, present condition, marketing strategy, and promotions. However, mobile web-based studies were categorized into 2 categories of introduction of the fashion stores and purchase behavior. Third, we reclassified the studies chronologically to observe studies conducted at different times. In the early phase (in addition to studies on purchase behavior) studies on present condition, marketing strategy, and website constituted the majority of studies conducted because the field research was just starting to grow; however, studies conducted in the latter phase showed new patterns of study, such as word-of-mouth effect, and return behavior. Future studies conducted on competitive PC web-based fashion stores require a more specific classification of studies (according to their purpose) to develop an effective marketing strategy.
Customer Characteristics about Eco-Friendly Apparel Products between `Environmentally Friendly Group` and `Non-environmentally Friendly Group` - A Survey of College Students in Daejeon -

This study promotes education, purchase, and advertisement activities related to eco-friendly apparel products. The study examined college students and their demographic characteristics, their recognition of and interest in, knowledge, purchase, and attitude towards advertisements related to eco-friendly apparel products. In this study, 337 students from various universities in Daejeon participated in a questionnaire survey from March 7 to March 25, 2011. The collected materials were analyzed by frequency analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, cross tabulations analysis, and t-test using SPSS 18.0 software. The results of these tests revealed that more students from the upper grades belonged to the Environmentally Friendly Group compared to those in the Non-environmentally Friendly Group. It was also found that students in the Environmentally Friendly Group had a higher level of consciousness and expressed a greater interest in eco-friendly apparel products as well as towards the launch of educational programs. Additionally, this group was more supportive of the need for new courses and had a higher likelihood to enroll in these courses. The research results revealed that (compared to the Non-environmentally Friendly Group) the Environmentally Friendly Group exhibited a greater satisfaction with the designs of eco-friendly apparel products and had more experience to examine advertisements about eco-friendly apparel products; in addition, they expressed a higher likability and reliability to these advertisements. The results also showed that the Environmentally Friendly Group believed that advertisements had persuasive power and were quite impressive in recalling the advertisements.
The Effect of Nonverbal Communication on Trust, Switching Barrier and Repurchase Intention

This study investigates the effect of nonverbal communication on trust, switching barrier, and repurchase intention. Sample subjects used in this study were customers of a fashion shop in Sunchon. The questionnaires were conveniently sampled from July 2010 to August 2010. Questionnaire data from 335 customers of a national brand were analyzed through a reliability analysis, factor analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, nonverbal communication by the service provider was divided into 3 types, physical appearance and paralanguage, postures and proxemics, and facial expressions. Second, it was found that physical appearance and paralanguage, postures and proxemics, facial expression of nonverbal communication had a significant impact on customer trust. Third, given the relationship between nonverbal communication and switching barrier, it was represented that the postures and proxemics and facial expressions (except physical appearance and paralanguage) had a significantly positive influence on the switching barrier. Forth, physical appearance/paralanguage, postures/proxemics, and facial expressions (nonverbal communication) had a positive influence on repurchase intention. Fifth, given the relationship between trust and repurchase intention as well as switching barrier and repurchase intention, it was represented that trust and switching barrier have a significantly positive influence upon repurchase intention. According to the results of this study, the more positive nonverbal communication by the service provider then the higher the customer repurchase intention as well as trust and switching barrier. Fifth, given the relationship between trust and repurchase intention as well as switching barrier and repurchase intention, it was represented that trust and switching barrier have a significantly positive influence upon repurchase intentions.
The Effects of Sociocultural Attitudes toward Appearance and Appearance Management Attitudes on Fashion Behaviors - Focused on College Students -

This study identifies the factor structure of sociocultural attitudes toward appearance, appearance management attitudes, fashion behaviors, and the effects of sociocultural attitudes toward appearance and appearance management attitudes on fashion behaviors. Questionnaires were administered to 255 college students living in Daegu Metropolitan City and Kyungbook province. The data collected were analyzed using frequency, factor analysis, multiple regression, and t-test. The findings were as follows. Sociocultural attitudes toward appearance were composed of two factors (body internalization and appearance recognition). Appearance management attitudes were composed of four factors (shape management recognition, weight management, appearance satisfaction, and health care). Fashion behaviors were composed of six factors (convenience, fashion following, self-satisfaction, attractiveness, pursuit of change, and pleasure). Gender of college students showed a distinction between the sub-variables of sociocultural attitudes toward appearance factors (body internalization) and appearance management attitudes (weight management) and fashion behaviors (convenience, fashion following, self-satisfaction, and pleasure). Women had more desire to have a similar looking body of TV celebrities than men. The effects of sociocultural attitudes toward appearance and appearance management attitudes on each fashion behavior variables (convenience, fashion following, self-satisfaction, attractiveness, pursuit of change, and pleasure) were explained by the factors of body internalization and appearance recognition, and weight management, appearance satisfaction, and health care. College students produced fashion appropriate to the situation. Strategies of fashion marketing based on these results are as follow. Through mass media, advertisers help university students realize a healthy outlook and create a social atmosphere that can promote healthy body attractions.
Study on Preferred Style and Fit according to Stature Groups of Women aged 18 to 59

This study surveys preferred style and fit problems according to stature groups like short, medium, and tall to offer information to upgrade the clothing fit and satisfaction for each stature group. For this purpose, the questionnaire was accomplished, and the respondents were 18-59 year old women divided into 3 stature groups. The 6 questions were: (1) the preferred clothing style for 3 stature groups, (2) the conformity of stature designation on ready-made clothing, (3) frequency of restrictions on clothing design selection because of short or tall stature, (4) the important part to decide a good fit for a jacket, blouse, slacks, and skirt, (5) dissatisfaction with clothing fit and frequency of mending, and (6) mended part for a correct fit. They were analyzed according to 3 stature groups and the differences among 3 stature groups were found on them. For example, short women preferred short jackets; however, tall women preferred a long length. Short women experienced more restrictions on clothing design (or length) selection because a short stature. Hip girth was more important to decide a good fit for tall women versus short or medium women. Armhole and slacks width from crotch to knee were important parts to decide a good fit for short women. The study results should be applied to clothing design (or pattern making) in order to upgrade clothing fit and satisfaction for each stature group.
A Study on the School Uniform Pants Sizing System depending on Lower Body Type for Highschool Girls

This study was conducted to provide basic information on developing highschool-uniform pants with more suitable fit and to suggest a sizing system for highschool girls` uniform pants that adequately reflects their body figures. To understand the features of high school girls` lower body type, the body measurement values of 833 girls from 16~18 years of age based on Size Korea(2010) were analyzed statistically. For the classification of lower body type for high school girls, a factor analysis and cluster analysis were conducted. The collected data were processed with the programs SPSS 18.0 for windows. The results in this study are follows: The lower body types for high school girls were divided into 3 groups. Body Type A is average stature but the biggest circumference, Type B is the biggest stature and the medium body type, Type C is the smallest stature and skeleton structure. KS size intervals were used for frequency distribution of height and waist for the lower body. Sizing system of the uniform company and frequency distribution of sizes were compared. Using the two-way distribution of highschool girls` waist circumference and hip circumference, sizing system considering body type distribution and high frequency distribution section of sizes was suggested. This study established new sizing system depending on lower body fixed as 26 number of sizes. The most suitable standard is fixed as 12 number of sizes ; 64-88, 64-91, 67-88, 67-91, 67-94, 70-91, 70-94, 70-97, 73-94, 73-97, 76-97, 76-100. The coverage is also calculated. And the coverage of new standard was 63.5%. The continuous study on the uniform pants sizing system of the obesity types is required.
A Study on the Development of Pattern and Design for Pet Dog`s Wear

Pets (such as dogs) are considered as important as family members, this perspective is due to an aging population and the decreased size of the traditional nuclear family. The pet industry has been growing every year; subsequently, is useful to develop practical patterns and designs appropriate for the body structure and movement of pet dogs. However, studies to develop a new form of pet dog`s wear patterns and designs are limited. This study develops a basic pattern that is easily used based on a pet dog`s size, designs popular clothing items for pet dogs, and helps in the manufactures of pet dog`s wear. The results are as follow: 1) Analyzed categories and popular items of pet dog`s wear from the research of the prior studies and on-line pet dog shopping malls; three categories (everyday wear, street wear, and special wear) and six items (T-shirt, one-piece, coat, jumper, and dress, tuxedo). 2) Developed the basic bodice pattern and sleeve pattern after test-wearing and revising the experimental patterns referenced from prior studies. 3) Developed patterns and designs for six popular items based on situation and gender: one-piece (everyday wear), coat (street wear), wedding dress (special wear) for female dogs/T-shirt (everyday wear), hood jumper (street wear), tuxedo (special wear) for male dogs. 4) Developed the previous six items to illustrate the research results of the study.
Eco Resort Wear Sizing System Targeting Jeju`s Tourists II

This study has analyzed body size of adult women between 20~59 years old in 2010 conducted by Size Korea and the study method is as follow. (1) Distribution ratio of bust circumference per age and distribution ratio of differences of bust drops were analyzed. (2) Analysis of one-way design of experiment was carried out for 20 items of body sizes according to differences of bust drops with regard to age groups of 20 and 40 years old in consideration of tourists who are unspecified target and for the whole ages groups. (3) Comparison analysis of 20 items of body sizes per bust circumference and according to level of differences of bust drops was carried out and (4) t-test of the two groups based on the standard of 12.5 cm of the differences of bust drops was conducted and was analyzed. Tthe differences of bust drops below 10 cm were reduced according to ages. 12.5 cm was the most in the group of ages of 20s and under 7.5 cm was reduced as ages were higher. Body items according to the differences of bust drops per ages had meaningful differences between groups except (acromion height-axilla height), height and shoulder length for the group of ages of 20s and in the whole ages groups, there was meaningful difference between groups in all items except height and shoulder length. Comparisons according to the differences of bust drops per section of 5 cm of bust circumference showed meaningful differences between groups in general in items of BMI, bust point-bust point, neck circumference, bust circumference, underbust circumference, neck point to bust point and weight. As the result of comparing the two groups of the differences of bust drops based on the standard of 12.5 cm, all had meaningful differences except stature and shoulder length.
Natural Dyeing of Fabrics with Guava (Psidium guajava L.) Leaf Extract III - Dyeability and Functional Property of Hanji Cotton Fabrics -

The natural dyeing of hanji cotton fabrics with guava leaf extract was investigated. The temperature and time of dyeing were
for eighty minutes, respectively. In addition, the dyebath has been set at pH 5. Sn pre-mordanted fabrics showed the highest K/S value. Regardless of dyeing temperature, K/S values were high when Al, Cu, Fe-mordanted fabrics were dyed in post-mordanting and Sn-mordanted fabrics in pre-mordanting. . Similar K/S value of dyeing was shown when fabrics were processed with chitosan, regardless of dyeing temperature. High K/S value of dyeing was seen when fabrics processed with gallnut tannin at 40. Fabrics dyed with acidic water extract showed yellowish color. Fabrics dyed with alkaline water extract showed reddish color, and fabrics dyed with ethanol extract showed greenish yellow color. In case of Sn-mordanted fabrics, the washing fastness level was between 3 to 4, and other dyed fabrics showed low fastness. The dry cleaning fastness also showed very excellent result with level 4-5. The rubbing fastness of the fabrics was better in dry rubbing than in wet rubbing. For the light fastness, all dyed fabrics showed low fastness. For antibacterial activity, the dyed fabrics with guava leaf extract showed 99.9% of high antibacterial activity. Hanji cotton fabric maintained certain deodorization in the state of raw fabric. All dyed fabrics showed higher UV protection rate than control fabric.
