Song, Ja-Young ; Choe, Byeong-Seog ;
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 11, issue 1, 2010, Pages 1~13
It is not easy to set RED(Random Early Detection) parameter according to environment in managing Network Device. Especially, it is more difficult to set parameter in the case of maintaining the constant service rate according to the change of environment. In this paper, we hypothesize the router that has Multi-core CPU in output queue and propose AI RED(Artificial Intelligence RED), which directly induces Genetic Algorithm of Artificial Intelligence in the output queue that is appropriate to the optimization of parameter according to RED environment, which is automatically adaptive to workload. As a result, AI RED Is simpler and finer than FuRED(Fuzzy-Logic-based RED), and RED parameter that AI RED searches through simulations is more adaptive to environment than standard RED parameter, providing the effective service. Consequently, the automation of management of RED parameter can provide a manager with the enhancement of efficiency in Network management.
A Hierarchical Sequential Index Scheme for Range Queries in Wireless Location-based Services
Park, Kwang-Jin ;
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 11, issue 1, 2010, Pages 15~20
In this paper, we propose a novel approach to reduce spatial query access latency and energy consumption by leveraging results from nearby peers in wireless broadcast environments. We propose a three-tier Hierarchical Location-Based Sequential access index, called HLBS, which provides selective tuning (pruning and searching entries) without pointers using a linear accessing structure based on the location of each data object. The HLBS saves search cost and index overhead, since the small index size with a sequential index structure results in low access latency overhead and facilitates efficient searches for sequential-access media (wireless channels with data broadcast). Comprehensive experiments illustrate that the proposed scheme is more efficient than the previous techniques in terms of energy consumption.

Kang, Min-Goo ; Zo, Moon-shin ;
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 11, issue 1, 2010, Pages 21~26
In this paper, film uniformity is improved by the bolt-mapping of convolutional image processing between bolts and a film using soft X-ray based in-line LCD TV film thickness controls. The automatic film thickness analysis of 3 inter-bolt's convolution function is proposed for the reduction of offset error from the X-ray changing of line scan in film profiles.

Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 11, issue 1, 2010, Pages 27~33
This paper applies Bayesian Markov inferred localization techniques for determining ZigBee mobile device's position. To evaluate its accuracy, we compare it with conventional technique, map-based localization. While the map-based localization technique referring to database of predefined locations and their RSSI data, the Bayesian Markov inferred localization is influenced by changes of time, direction and distance. All determinations are drawn from the estimation of Received Signal Strength (RSS) using ZigBee modules. Our results show the relationship between RSSI and distance in indoor ZigBee environment and higher localization accuracy of Bayesian Markov localization technique. We conclude that map-based localization is not suitable for flexible changes in indoors because of its predefined condition setup and lower accuracy comparing to distance-based Markov Chain inference localization system.

For the next generation mobile communication system, diverse wireless network techniques such as beyond 3G LTE, WiMAX/WiBro, and next generation WLAN etc. are proceeding to the form integrated into the All-IP core network. According to this development, Beyond 3G integrated into heterogeneous wireless access technologies must support the vertical handover and network to be used of several radio networks. However, unified management of each network is demanded since it is individually serviced. Therefore, in order to solve this problem this study is introducing the theory of Common Radio Resource Management (CRRM) based on Generic Link Layer (GLL). This study designs the structure and functions to support the vertical handover and propose the vertical handover algorithm of which policy-based and MCDM are composed between LTE and WLAN systems using GLL and CRRM. Finally, simulation results are presented to show the improved performance over the data throughput, handover success rate and the system service cost.

Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 11, issue 1, 2010, Pages 49~57
Today, internet traffic is rapidly increasing by the appearance of a large number of website thru a numerous internet service provider and the introduction of advanced teaching methods like utilizing ICT(Information and Communication Technology) education. At these actualities, it is requested to increase internet bandwidth in the scene of school; however, it is difficult to resolve the request quickly because of the government's budget and technical problems. In this circumstance, this paper proposes a method to raise the efficiency of internet operations with the current bandwidth. In order to achieve the purpose of this paper, the analysis of internet traffic has been done by the traffic currently being used in school, and an internet bandwidth distribution model differ from the existing standpoint is developed with the analyzed result. It can be used to predict the increase in the bandwidth which may be requested at school in the future, and it can support the office of education for appropriate bandwidth allocation at schools and reduction of school budget in telecommunication. Also, it can be adopted as a future oriented reference model for network policy.
Web Service Matching Algorithm using Cluster and Ontology Information
Lee, Yong-Ju ;
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 11, issue 1, 2010, Pages 59~69
With the growing number of web services, there arise issues of finding suitable services. But, the traditional keyword search method is insufficient for two reasons: (1) this does not capture the underlying semantics of web services. (2) this does not suffice for accurately specifying users' information needs. In order to overcome limitations of this keyword search method, we propose a novel syntactic analysis and ontology learning method. The syntactic analysis method gives us a breadth of coverage for common terms, while the ontology learning method gives a depth of coverage by providing relationships. By combining these two methods, we hope to improve both the recall and the precision. We describe an experimental study on a collection of 508 web services that shows the high recall and precision of our method.

Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 11, issue 1, 2010, Pages 77~84
Children, who have a language disorder, have difficulty in expressing their reaction about stimulus of sound and vision. So it is very hard to grasp that they recognize external stimulus or not. For solving these problem, we can check response time and make them to choose stimulus by giving stimulus of sound and vision to them through Audio and Visual Stimulus and Reaction Meter System. Additionally, We can help them by improving response time by repeated study based on the results and making them to recognize and choose stimulus faster without aversion about external stimulus. It would make them not to feel uncomfortable and isolated because they are unfamiliar with external stimulus.

Park, Seung-Bo ; Kim, Yoo-Won ; Jo, Geun-Sik ;
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 11, issue 1, 2010, Pages 85~102
In this paper, we propose a novel method of analyzing video and representing the relationship among characters based on their contexts in the video sequences, namely Character-Net. As a huge amount of video contents is generated even in a single day, the searching and summarizing technologies of the contents have also been issued. Thereby, a number of researches have been proposed related to extracting semantic information of video or scenes. Generally stories of video, such as TV serial or commercial movies, are made progress with characters. Accordingly, the relationship between the characters and their contexts should be identified to summarize video. To deal with these issues, we propose Character-Net supporting the extraction of major characters in video. We first identify characters appeared in a group of video shots and subsequently extract the speaker and listeners in the shots. Finally, the characters are represented by a form of a network with graphs presenting the relationship among them. We present empirical experiments to demonstrate Character-Net and evaluate performance of extracting major characters.

Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 11, issue 1, 2010, Pages 103~116
In this paper, we propose an optimal camera placement using agent-based simulation. To derive importance of space and to cover the space efficiently, we accomplished an agent-based simulation based on classification of space and pattern analysis of moving people. We developed an agent-based camera placement method considering camera performance as well as space priority extracted from path finding algorithms. We demonstrate that the method not only determinates the optimal number of cameras, but also coordinates the position and orientation of the cameras with considering the installation costs. To validate the method, we compare simulation results with videos of real materials and show experimental results simulated in a specific space.

Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 11, issue 1, 2010, Pages 117~128
There are many researches related to a simulated shooting training system for replacing the real military and police shooting training. In this paper, we propose the point of impact from a simulated shooting target based on image processing instead of using a sensor based approach. The point of impact is extracted by analyzing the image extracted from the camera on the muzzle of a gun. The final shooting result is calculated by mapping the target and the coordinates of the point of impact. The recognition system is divided into recognizing the projection zone, extracting the point of impact on the projection zone, and calculating the shooting result from the point of impact. We find the vertices of the projection zone after converting the captured image to the binary image and extract the point of impact in it. We present the extracting process step by step and provide experiments to validate the results. The experiments show that exact vertices of the projection area and the point of impact are found and a conversion result for the final result is shown on the interface.

Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 11, issue 1, 2010, Pages 129~141
In this paper, we present a wearable intelligent device based on multi-sensor for monitoring human activity. In order to recognize multiple activities, we developed activity recognition algorithms utilizing an image sensor and a 3-axis accelerometer sensor. We proposed a grid?based optical flow method and used a SVM classifier to analyze data acquired from multi-sensor. We used the direction and the magnitude of motion vectors extracted from the image sensor. We computed the correlation between axes and the magnitude of the FFT with data extracted from the 3-axis accelerometer sensor. In the experimental results, we showed that the accuracy of activity recognition based on the only image sensor, the only 3-axis accelerometer sensor, and the proposed multi-sensor method was 55.57%, 89.97%, and 89.97% respectively.

Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 11, issue 1, 2010, Pages 167~181
WebDAV is an IETF standard protocol which supports asynchronous collaborative authoring on the Web. The WebDAV Access Control Protocol provides various methods of controlling the resources on a WebDAV server and their properties, helping high-level group activities to be performed through the WebDAV server. In this paper, to provide high level collaboration, we introduce a technique for managing access control over WebDAV resources through the WebDAV Access Control Protocol and describe the development of an access control manager for the CoSlide Collaborative system based on the technique. To provide users with the access control features in an easily understandable manner, the developed technique presents the privileges for performing WebDAV methods instead of the standard privileges in the WebDAV Access Control Protocol. In addition, we present the facility for detecting conflicts between new access privileges on resources and old access privileges on them. We applied the method-based access control management technique to the CoSlide collaborative system. The developed access control manager enables us to create group workspaces with flexible access control strategies for group members and resources.

Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 11, issue 1, 2010, Pages 183~193
For the purpose of enhancing performances, many companies have tried to ensure the competitive advantages in ties with organization's strategy by putting effort in designing, developing and practicing the information system. Despite the information oriented small and medium enterprises (SME) being suffered from lack of funds, professional man-power and poor environment, fairly evaluating the level of information system within an organization can be a positive starting point for information oriented SME. Therefore in this study, for the purpose of using the SERVQUAL as a measurement tool provided by information system department under the environment of using information system, we try to free from the marketing oriented service category and develop models that are applicable in the information system environment to check reliability and validity. As a result, it is analyzed that enhancements of SERVQUAL simultaneously improves system and information quality which makes the employees satisfy with their working environments and sequentially affects to the collaborative performance of using information system.
