Implementation of Failure-Diagnostic Context-awareness Middleware for Support Highly Reliable USN Application Service

In this paper, we proposed the Failure-Diagnostic Context-awareness Middleware (FDCM) for improving the reliability in the USN application service. The middleware diagnoses the failure occurred in sensors or facilities in the indoor USN application system. The new middleware suggested in this paper consists of DataManagement module, ContextProvider module, Contextlnterpreter module, ServiceProvider module and DataStorage module. By analysing the data obtained by the interaction between modules through the diagnostic algorithm, the FDCM determines the malfunction of sensors and equipment devices. Then we verified the performance of middleware by using simulation. As a result, the FDCM showed the high performance in the large systems that many of the sensors and devices are installed.
Real-Time Step Count Detection Algorithm Using a Tri-Axial Accelerometer

We have developed a wearable device that can convert sensor data into real-time step counts. Sensor data on gait were acquired using a triaxial accelerometer. A test was performed according to a test protocol for different walking speeds, e.g., slow walking, walking, fast walking, slow running, running, and fast running. Each test was carried out for 36 min on a treadmill with the participant wearing an Actical device, and the device developed in this study. The signal vector magnitude (SVM) was used to process the X, Y, and Z values output by the triaxial accelerometer into one representative value. In addition, for accurate step-count detection, we used three algorithms: an heuristic algorithm (HA), the adaptive threshold algorithm (ATA), and the adaptive locking period algorithm (ALPA). The recognition rate of our algorithm was 97.34% better than that of the Actical device(91.74%) by 5.6%.
Elimination of the Redundant Sensor Data using the Mobile Agent Middleware

The sensor nodes of sensor network system are capable of wireless communication with sink nodes. They also acquire and transmit sensor data in broad region where people cannot access easily. However, the transmission of redundant data from sensor nodes reduces the lifetime of the entire system and substantial amount of resulted data needs to be resorted before implementing them to the specific applications. In this paper, the mobile agent middleware to eliminate the redundant sensor data is designed and implemented. In the proposed system, the mobile agent visits the destination sensor nodes according to the migration list offered by the meta table in the name space of the naming agent, eliminates the redundant sensor data corresponding to user condition, and acquires and transmits sensor data according to the purpose and needs. Thus, the excess transmission of the sensor data is avoided and the lifetime of the entire system can be extended. Moreover, the experiments using the mobile agent middleware with the conditions and limitations that are possible in real situation ore done to verify the successful elimination of the redundant sensor data and the efficiency of the data acquisition. Also, we show the potential applicability of the mobile agent middleware in various active sensor networks through the active rule based mobile agent middleware or the interaction with the active rule system.
Grouping Method based on Adaptive Load Balancing for the Intelligent Resource Management of a Cloud System

Current researches in the Cloud focus on the appropriate interactions of cloud components in a large-scale system implementation. However, the current designs do not include intelligent methods like grouping the similar service providers based on their properties and integrating adaptive schemes for load distribution which can promote effective sharing of resource. This paper proposes an efficient virtualization of services by grouping the cloud providers to improve the service provisioning. The grouping of cloud service providers based on a cluster analysis collects the similar and related services in one group. The adaptive load balancing supports the service provisioning of the cloud system where it manages the load distribution within the group using an adaptive scheme. The proposed virtualization mechanism (GRALB) showed good results in minimizing message overhead and throughput performance compared to other methods.
Development of Education Courseware for Clinical Care Classification System based PC and Smartphone

It is urgently needed to develop programs supporting lifelong education for nurses and students of nursing, which are not restricted by time or space and use personal computers or smartphone. The purpose of this study is to develop CCC(Clinical Care Classification) System into a education program and provides guideline to support clinical tasks for students of nursing. Comparing the search times of the book guideline and the web guideline developed, this study found that it was over 3.5 times faster. And its error rate was over four times lower. This result shows that it can provide accurate intervention for patients since it approaches to intervention and evaluation guideline fast and precisely in the actual tasks of nursing.
A Study on Antecedents of Online Trust in the Context of e-Government Services

Trust is generally assumed to be an important precondition for people's adoption of e-government services. This study analyzes the direct and indirect impact of information privacy, interactivity, subjective norms and words-of-mouth on perceived trust of e-government services and trust toward government. The Partial Least Square(PLS) was applied to the citizen survey data for hypotheses testing. PLS permits the simultaneous testing of cause-effect hypotheses while also allowing evaluation of the measurement model. Statistical results indicate that interactivity, subjective norms and words-of-mouth positively affects perceived trust of e-government services, which in turn affects the level of political efficacy and the trust toward the government. Interactivity has been found to affect words-of-mouth as well. However, information privacy has no significant effect on the trust of e-government services.
Bi-directional Fuzzy Matching Algorithm

Matching customers becomes the key function in on-line mediate services. There are two matching methods: one-directional matching that requires requests from one side(e,g., information searching), bi-directional matching that considers requests from both sides. Previous bi-directional matching has difficulties of getting the interests explicitly and service collapse problems when the opposite side do not put responding interests. This paper attempts to automate the inputs of interests for bi-directional matching by calculating the interests with fuzzy matching algorithm for optimization. The results of the proposed Bi-directional Fuzzy Matching(BDFM) algorithm told that the job placement accuracy of employment information matching results is over 95%. And, BDFM gives statically significant positive effect for motivating the employment activities when analyzed the effect after completing the implementation.
A Q-learning based channel access scheme for cognitive radios

In distributed cognitive radio networks, cognitive radio devices which perform the channel sensing individually, are seriously affected by radio channel environments such as noise, shadowing and fading such that they can not property satisfy the maximum allowable interference level to the primary user. In the paper, we propose a Q-learning based channel access scheme for cognitive radios so as to satisfy the maximum allowable interference level to the primary user as well as to improve the throughput of cognitive radio by opportunistically accessing on the idle channels. In the proposed scheme, the pattern of channel usage of the primary user will be learned through Q-learning during the pre-play learning step, and then the learned channel usage pattern will be utilized for improving the sensing performance during the Q-learning normal operation step. Through the simulation, it is shown that the proposed scheme can provide bettor performance than the conventional energy detector in terms of the interference level to primary user and the throughput of cognitive radio under both AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels.
Performance Improvement of Signature-based Traffic Classification System by Optimizing the Search Space

The payload signature-based traffic classification system has to deal with large amount of traffic data, as the number of internet-based applications and network traffic continue to grow. While a number of pattern-matching algorithms have been proposed to improve processing speedin the literature, the performance of pattern matching algorithms is restrictive and depends on the features of its input data. In this paper, we studied how to optimize the search space in order to improve the processing speed of the payload signature-based traffic classification system. Also, the feasibility of our design choices was proved via experimental evaluation on our campus traffic trace.
Mobility Management Scheme for the Wireless Mesh Network using Mobility Anchor Point

WMN is highlighted as a next generation network technology due to relatively reasonable cost to be built, compared with the pre-existing wireless network. It also enables same kind of network or even other kind of network to be integrated. Some WMN researches support mobility using router protocol such as AODV and DSR because WMN has the similar features with Ad-hoc network in terms of operation. However, WMN has got different operations with additional functions of multi-interface and internet connect, it can't be a good method to manage efficient mobility any more. This study suggests method to apply MAP function of HMIPv6 to WMN as a way to manage WMN mobility. Through simulation, operation was verified and function was appreciated. Through the results of evaluation, the suggest mobility management had shorter handover delay and packet loss reduced, which improved whole network throughput rate, compared with mobility management using AODV.
Performance Evaluation of a DVB-T2 Receiver with Iterative Demapping and Decoding in MISO Transmission Mode

In this paper, the BER(Bit Error Rate) performance of a DVB-T2(Second Generation Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting System) in MISO(Multiple Input Single Output) transmission mode is evaluated by the computer simulation. In the DVB-T2 receiver, an IDD(Iterative Demapping and Decoder) technique is employed that exchanges extrinsic information between the demapper and the LDPC decoder. Vision-based Motion Control for the Immersive Interaction with a Mobile Augmented Reality Object

Vision-based Human computer interaction is an emerging field of science and industry to provide natural way to communicate with human and computer. Especially, recent increasing demands for mobile augmented reality require the development of efficient interactive technologies between the augmented virtual object and users. This paper presents a novel approach to construct marker-less mobile augmented reality object and control the object. Replacing a traditional market, the human hand interface is used for marker-less mobile augmented reality system. In order to implement the marker-less mobile augmented system in the limited resources of mobile device compared with the desktop environments, we proposed a method to extract an optimal hand region which plays a role of the marker and augment object in a realtime fashion by using the camera attached on mobile device. The optimal hand region detection can be composed of detecting hand region with YCbCr skin color model and extracting the optimal rectangle region with Rotating Calipers Algorithm. The extracted optimal rectangle region takes a role of traditional marker. The proposed method resolved the problem of missing the track of fingertips when the hand is rotated or occluded in the hand marker system. From the experiment, we can prove that the proposed framework can effectively construct and control the augmented virtual object in the mobile environments.
Implementation of high performance parallel LU factorization program for multi-threads on GPGPUs

GPUs were originally designed for graphic processing, and GPGPUs are general-purpose GPUs for numerical computation with high performance and low electric power. In this paper, we implemented the parallel LU factorization program for GPGPUs. In CUDA, which is computational environment for Nvidia GPGPUs, domains are divided into blocks, and multi-threads compute each sub-blocks Simultaneously. In LU factorization program, computation order should be artificially decided due to the data dependence. To resolve the data dependancy, we suggested a parallel LU program for GPGPUs, and also explained parallel reduction algorithm for partial pivoting of LU factorization. We finally present performance analysis to show efficiency of the parallel LU factorization program based on multi-threads on GPGPUs.
Analyzing Critical Priority Factors for Deriving Future Industries and Promotion Fields of Energy-IT Convergence

The Korean government have made and implemented various energy policies for solving environmental and energy problems in the energy industry in general and in the areas of "Energy-IT convergence" in particular. It is important for the government to choose and focus the future industries and promotion fields of Energy-IT convergence, because the Energy-IT convergence leads to newfangled services and products with diverse direct, indirect and induced effects and sometimes it needs to different regulation and policy issues. Unfortunately, until recently, there are very few researches regarding these complications. This study has derived critical priority factors for analyzing and evaluating the future industry of Energy-IT convergence. Using these elements and the ANP(Analytic Network Process) method, we have investigated the opinions of experts in the energy and IT industry. The process and results in this paper can be a good guideline for academic as well as industrial developments.
