Recursive Estimation of Biased Zero-Error Probability for Adaptive Systems under Non-Gaussian Noise

The biased zero-error probability and its related algorithms require heavy computational burden related with some summation operations at each iteration time. In this paper, a recursive approach to the biased zero-error probability and related algorithms are proposed, and compared in the simulation environment of shallow water communication channels with ambient noise of biased Gaussian and impulsive noise. The proposed recursive method has significantly reduced computational burden regardless of sample size, contrast to the original MBZEP algorithm with computational complexity proportional to sample size. With this computational efficiency the proposed algorithm, compared with the block-processing method, shows the equivalent robustness to multipath fading, biased Gaussian and impulsive noise.
Prediction Method about Power Consumption by Using Utilization Rate of Resources in Cloud Computing Environment

Recently, as cloud computing technologies are developed, it enable to work anytime and anywhere by smart phone and computer. Also, cloud computing technologies are suited to reduce costs of maintaining IT infrastructure and initial investment, so cloud computing has been developed. As demand about cloud computing has risen sharply, problems of power consumption are occurred to maintain the environment of data center. To solve the problem, first of all, power consumption has been measured. Although using power meter to measure power consumption obtain accurate power consumption, extra cost is incurred. Thus, we propose prediction method about power consumption without power meter. To proving accuracy about proposed method, we perform CPU and Hard disk test on cloud computing environment. During the tests, we obtain both predictive value by proposed method and actual value by power meter, and we calculate error rate. As a result, error rate of predictive value and actual value shows about 4.22% in CPU test and about 8.51% in Hard disk test.
Development of Customized Trip Navigation System Using Open Government Data

Under the flag of creative economy, Korea government is now releasing public data in order to develop or provide a range of services. In this paper, we develop a customized trip navigation system to recommend a trip itinerary based on integration of open government data and personal tourist data. The system uses case-based reasoning (CBR) to provide a personalized trip navigation service. The main difference between existing trip information systems and ours is that our system can offers a user-oriented information service. In addition, our system supports Turn-key style contents provision to maximize convenience. Our system can be a good example of the way in which open government data can be used to design a new service.
An Implementation of Lighting Control System using Interpretation of Context Conflict based on Priority

The current smart lighting is shaped to offer the lighting environment suitable for current context, after identifying user's action and location through a sensor. The sensor-based context awareness technology just considers a single user, and the studies to interpret many users' various context occurrences and conflicts lack. In existing studies, a fuzzy theory and algorithm including ReBa have been used as the methodology to solve context conflict. The fuzzy theory and algorithm including ReBa just avoid an opportunity of context conflict that may occur by providing services by each area, after the spaces where users are located are classified into many areas. Therefore, they actually cannot be regarded as customized service type that can offer personal preference-based context conflict. This paper proposes a priority-based LED lighting control system interpreting multiple context conflicts, which decides services, based on the granted priority according to context type, when service conflict is faced with, due to simultaneous occurrence of various contexts to many users. This study classifies the residential environment into such five areas as living room, 'bed room, study room, kitchen and bath room, and the contexts that may occur within each area are defined as 20 contexts such as exercising, doing makeup, reading, dining and entering, targeting several users. The proposed system defines various contexts of users using an ontology-based model and gives service of user oriented lighting environment through rule based on standard and context reasoning engine. To solve the issue of various context conflicts among users in the same space and at the same time point, the context in which user concentration is required is set in the highest priority. Also, visual comfort is offered as the best alternative priority in the case of the same priority. In this manner, they are utilized as the criteria for service selection upon conflict occurrence.
Smartphone-based Wavelength Control LED Lighting System according to the Sleep-Wake Cycle of Occupants

Melatonin hormone involved in human's circadian rhythm adjustment sensitively responds to light's specific short wavelength ratio. A shift worker's circadian rhythm disturbance and sleep disorder are caused by the existing lighting conditions, whose short wavelength ratio is fixed. The life pattern of a shift worker changes irregularly because of irregular working hours and the same lighting environment; thus, his/her concentration is reduced. For such a reason, negative effects ensue to the detriment of healthy everyday life, including a high risk of accidents or having unsound sleep after leaving work. A smartphone-based wavelength control LED lighting system that targets shift workers and that can easily measure and control lighting suitable for wake-sleep cycle, according to working hours and closing hours, is proposed in this paper. First, after the light characteristics of LED lighting that changes depending on light control ratio are measured through the color sensor installed on the smartphone and the externally-linked Mini-Spectrometer, they are stored in the database. Based on the stored optical characteristics data, the measurement module and light control module are implemented. Lighting is offered using a control ratio having the maximum rate of short wavelength in consideration of the target illuminance, classified according to work type by identifying working hours as time when waking is required for shift workers. After a shift work leaves work, the amount of lighting is varied, using a control ratio having a minimum short wavelength rate so that a shift worker can enter the sleep state naturally.
An Estimated Closeness Centrality Ranking Algorithm for Large-Scale Workflow Affiliation Networks

A type of workflow affiliation network is one of the specialized social network types, which represents the associative relation between actors and activities. There are many methods on a workflow affiliation network measuring centralities such as degree centrality, closeness centrality, betweenness centrality, eigenvector centrality. In particular, we are interested in the closeness centrality measurements on a workflow affiliation network discovered from enterprise workflow models, and we know that the time complexity problem is raised according to increasing the size of the workflow affiliation network. This paper proposes an estimated ranking algorithm and analyzes the accuracy and average computation time of the proposed algorithm. As a result, we show that the accuracy improves 47.5%, 29.44% in the sizes of network and the rates of samples, respectively. Also the estimated ranking algorithm's average computation time improves more than 82.40%, comparison with the original algorithm, when the network size is 2400, sampling rate is 30%.
Development of Android App for Suppor ting Smooth Multimedia Streaming Service Using Frame Buffer

Existing Android applications for streaming video in real time are dependent on the codec, which composes the encoding function, and the version of Android operating system. Also, for streaming video in real time, most applications should be connected with a separate desktop PC. To overcome these disadvantages, we propose a new application, which records and streams video in real time. Specifically, the proposed application uses the flash video file format, which is the common media file format supported by various versions of Android operating system. Through experiments, we show that it is possible for the proposed application to record the video screens more than 20 frames per second and to stream it in real time while using the existing video encoding methods.
A Betweenness Centrality Analysis Method in Valued Workflow-supported Social Networks

In this paper, we propose a novel analysis method and its algorithms to perform the betweenness centrality measurements on a valued and directed workflow-supported social network. The conventional workflow-supported social network model is to represent the existences of task transferring relationships among their performers by using a binary social network. However, it is necessary to consider not only the existences of task transferring relationships but also their quantities and directions in order to obtain much more effective and sophisticated analysis results. In conclusion, this paper newly defines a concept of valued and directed workflow-supported social network, and its betweenness centrality analysis method and algorithms. Especially, to verify the proposed method and algorithms, we try to apply the conventional method and the proposed method to an example workflow model respectively, and compare their betweenness centrality analysis results.
A Case Study of Course-Embedded Assessment for Program Outcomes in Computer Science & Information Engineering

This paper deals with the practical experience and lessons to develop a method of course-embedded assessment for program outcomes in Computer Science & Information Engineering. In engineering education, ABEEK(Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea) has been nominated as an official accreditation from Korean government under some conditions of fulfillment. One of the conditions is enforcement of course-embedded assessment for program outcomes. In this paper, a method of course-embedded assessment in Computer Science & Information Engineering is suggested. The case study was done in a basic project course which includes the special assessment methods in project courses. The case study of course-embedded assessment in a basic project course was given with consideration for each step, that is, set up of program outcomes which are highly related to the course, selection of assessment tools such as written examination and project-based assessment, set up of assessment criteria, implementation of course-embedded assessment, and analysis of results. The proposed method is expected to be a good example to construct the whole strategy for course-embedded assessment in Computer Science & Information Engineering.
Effects of Gender and Region on the Relationships between Teenagers' Use of Social Network Sites and Social Capital

This study aimed to examine how gender and regional differences affect the relationships between SNS use and social capital. By analyzing a large set of data from Korean teenagers, significant roles of gender and regional differences could be found. In regards to gender difference, the most notable finding was the negative effects of SNS use on bonding and bridging social capital among male teenagers. Furthermore, it was found that such negative effects of SNS use were significant particularly among urban teenagers. These findings theoretically contribute to broadening the understanding of the relationships between SNS use and social capital.
A Study of Security Checks for Android Least Privilege - focusing on mobile financial services -

A security system in Android OS adopts sandbox and an permission model. In particular, the permission model operates the confirmation of installation time and all-or-nothing policy. Accordingly, the Android OS requires a user agreement for permission when installing an application, however there is very low level of user awareness for the permission. In this paper, the current status of permission requirement within mobile apps will be discovered, and the key inspection list with an appropriate method, when a mobile service provider autonomously inspects the violation of least privilege around financial companies, and its usefulness will be explored.
A Study of Guide System for Cerebrovascular Intervention

Due to the recent advancement in digital imaging technology, development of intervention equipment has become generalize. Video arbitration procedure is a process to insert a tiny catheter and a guide wire in the body, so in order to enhance the effectiveness and safety of this treatment, the high-quality of x-ray of image should be used. However, the increasing of radiation has become the problem. Therefore, the studies to improve the performance of x-ray detectors are being actively processed. Moreover, this intervention is based on the reference of the angiographic imaging and 3D medical image processing. In this paper, we propose a guidance system to support this intervention. Through this intervention, it can solve the problem of the existing 2D medical images based vessel that has a formation of cerebrovascular disease, and guide the real-time tracking and optimal route to the target lesion by intervention catheter and guide wire tool. As a result, the system was completely composed for medical image acquisition unit and image processing unit as well as a display device. The experimental environment, guide services which are provided by the proposed system Brain Phantom (complete intracranial model with aneurysms, ref H+N-S-A-010) was taken with x-ray and testing. To generate a reference image based on the Laplacian algorithm for the image processing which derived from the cerebral blood vessel model was applied to DICOM by Volume ray casting technique.
algorithm was used to provide the catheter with a guide wire tracking path. Finally, the result does show the location of the catheter and guide wire providing in the proposed system especially, it is expected to provide a useful guide for future intervention service.
An Analysis of Social Networking Service on the Organizational Performance: Mediating effect on Transactive Memory Capabilities and Moderating effect on Time

As Internet technology further develops, a social networking service (SNS) also develops. But most studies on SNS are not appropriate for business purposes since they mainly focus on personal characteristics. Unlike previous studies, however, this study tries to understand the effect of SNS on performance in the perspective of business. As the result of analysis, SNSE(Social Networking Service Engagement) appears to have positive effect on TMC(Transactive Memory Capability) and PER(Performance), and TMC also seems to affect PER. On the assumption that there should be some parameters between SNSE and PER that earlier studies did not consider, this study has proved that a new way of memories, or TMC, forms the bridge between SNS and PER. It also found out that the time spent on SNS is positively controlled when SNSE affects TMC. These results are different from those of the previous studies arguing that SNS has nothing to do with PER.
